Hello everyone, I just got this Droid X2 and I flashed CM10 A3 on it using clockworkmod. I noticed that my battery life doesn't go down, it just sits at 100%. Is there a way to fix this with a patch or...?
Thanks, Chris.

If you find in your stats a straight line decrease in battery it's usually a sign that it's going bad. It'll last a while but you'll need one eventually. I just ordered one from Amazon for ten bucks a genuine Motorola battery dated 2012 but it works like new. There are cheaper ones but I wanted to try to get an original.
Now on CM7 it lasts hours easily with about three hours screen time
Good luck

Just to follow up, I'm still using the dx2 for at least a couple more months as my daily driver. I'm torn between cm10 a3 and cm7. The battery life on cm10 is certainly worse than with cm7. I'm giving cm10 another run today. I have mostly fresh installs of cm7, stock blur GB 2.4, and CM10 A3 as nandroids so I can go between those fairly easily. Good luck and if you need any information about the dx2 I know a little, but not as much as SD_Shadow. Also, the resources on his google doc for that phone (and others) are immense be sure to check that out there's a link somewhere in the forums.

I own a Droid 3 but my dad has the x2 and he needs better battery life so I plan on rooting the phone and putting a custom rom on it for him so I wanted to know which rom would be best for him. He uses e mail phone calls and texts a lot and sometimes YouTube videos. If someone could post links for the best suited rom for him along with any scripts that help performance as well as battery that would be great. Also, do I need to install a custom recovery from somewhere else or do I use cwm from rom manager?

Here is everything you need for this phone:

Any rom will essentially have better battery life since they are all pretty much stripped down versions of the stock ROM. I suggest eclipse. The speedy script and battery fix script are very highly recommended too.
EDIT: Rom Manager doesnt really work with the Droid X2. So you will need the Bootstrap Recovery in the link I posted.

The battery fix is a must if you want accurate reading. I am running eclipse 1.3 with speedy v7. Also v6 supercharger but that is more for my gaming. And also the mash up v .5 I am getting between 10-14 hrs on a charge and that is pretty heavy use. On my day off I can go between 8 and 10 hrs but that is very heavy use then. Oh ya make sure you wipe battery stats when you flash or calibrate it after.
All are safe to use, which is why they were put in that thread. Just read every threads OP before flashing since they usually have instructions to wipe certain things. And I believe the mash up script tells you to turn wifi off before flashing. Just read and you will be good.

+1 thanks I should of mentioned that.
Ive had my best battery life with Eclipse. Ive been pulling 20+ hours with moderate use. Mostly texting, checking some web pages and trolling XDA and Facebook.
Ive also seen an increase from turning off network provided time under date/time in settings.

I can vouch for the turning off of "network provided time"if settings. It seems the phone "sleeps" better when it is idle.
Also another way to ensure better battery life is by getting into the habit of REBOOTING the phone(power off/on) after EVERY TIME you take it off of the charger. There is a thread explaining why this helps ...I just don't feel like looking for it right now sorry lol

Does the unplugging go for all droids? That's interesting that turning it off helps battery haha I assume its cause it stops everything that's running.

Ya I found that. Is that same issue in the custom roms or just the stock?

I think its a problem with stock GB (seems to be a few issues with stock). But it transfers over to the ROMs because there is no fix for it yet other than to restart.
I tend to try to answer my own questions by reading all the threads around here, but I have actually got an issue that I don't know if anyone else has really run into yet on MIUI on the x2.
Haven't had any problems and have had good battery life so far on MIUI. Today, though, I had the battery fully charged this morning and it was nearly empty by the end of the day (I usually get 2 days on a charge using my phone sparingly). I didn't think much of it and didn't use my phone for a couple hours then went back to it and it was dead.
Now, the phone will not boot past the Motorola dual core screen. I am likely going to simply SBF then go back to either MIUI or CM7 but I was curious if anyone had any ideas on what this might be related to so I can avoid it again later on.
Thanks
Edit: Realized after posting this it might be better suited in the Q&A, my bad!
What does battery usage say? Anything out if the ordinary?
Have you gotten it to boot yet?

Ash has stated that this is a wake-lock issue from some app or service. I explained this in another thread, probably the MIUI thread in the development forum. But, it is a known issue.
He's currently working on fixing a lot of other issues. Per his twitter, he's ran into a road block concerning audio flinger.

it shows the Android OS as taking up over 90% of the battery in there. I haven't ever really gotten too into the battery monitoring business. I've gotten good battery life out of the phone doing what I've been doing so this is uncharacteristic at this point.
I was able to SBF without an issue. So I am back up and running.

Thanks for your response. I do follow Ace and Dragonz on Twitter so I do watch what they're working on from there. (somewhat) Glad it is a known issue so that those powerful guys will be able to address it once they are able to.
Probably about takes care of the thread for me, so thanks guys!
Hi XDA!
Bear with me here.
I have a very big problem, as my Nexus One is draining heavily. You should think by now, why hasn't he put this in the Nexus One thread, well that's because no one responds to my thread, so I thought I'd give it a shot here. So:
My Nexus One drains 1% every 4 minutes, no matter which ROM I install Sense, AOKP ICS, MIUI (ICS) and even Stock. The battery remains the same, I have tried various options: from calibrating the battery, wiping battery stats to purchasing a new battery. Neither of those options worked out. The battery still remains the same. My guess is that it's a hardware error.
I have no guarantee, as my bootloader is unlocked and I opened the phone once.
Please help me out XDA!
Thanks, arian44
you might have a hardware issue
What rom Do u use
And you should ask this at nexus one forum

Just wondering if the differences in the two are normal.
I owned a SGS2 for a long time, and the battery would sometimes be just awful. There were days when it would drain 1% on standby, and then days when it was like 5-7% on standby - which is pretty bad for not using the phone at all.
I finally gave up on non-nexus phones and got myself a gnex and its freaking awesome. On a typical day, i leave for work at 7, and get home at 3 with 70% left - with some use.
I switched back to my SGS2 to see if there was still a difference even when running a newer/better rom, and battery life still seems pretty bad. I was at my other job today, and my Gnex will usually drain 15% over 8 hours, today my SGS2 drained 70%
Is this normal? I have bbs and cpu spy installed, and will post results after work tomorrow if anyone is interested.
I was planning on giving this to my mom as her first smartphone (i thought the lower DPI would be better for her eyes), but now im thinking i should just sell this, and then use whatever i get to put towards a Gnex.
Next time man just post one thread regarding your questions and issue. No need to make one here and one in general. And to answer your question about battery life it depends what rom yer running and what apps u have installed. And I suppose how u use the phone as well, referring to whether u listen to tons of music or mainly for calling, either way good luck, happy flashing.

Identical everything with the exception that the SGS2 is AOKP, and the Gnex is paranoid android. When i installed AOKP on my SGS2, i literally sat there and made it so both phones look about identical - with the exception of rom specific things like the notification menu and stuff like that. Same apps, same settings, same homescreen setup, etc etc etc.
All things being equal - is the gnex that much better on battery life?
Am thinking about getting an S4 to replace my work phone and dropping my personal HTC DNA (since I only use a few minutes per month anyways). Issue is that it has to remain 100% stock due to the security application installed so I can't debloat/root/install new rom or anything.
For those that are still stock, what kind of actual battery life are you getting on average?
It depends on usage honestly. App x can cause more battery drain then app y. Location also presents another variable. During my work weeks when im not using/talking on it a whole lot I can go 48+ hours without a recharge. In short it gets pretty good battery life.

I am stock (not by choice) and I male it through a normal day of not much use at work then heavy use at home for a few hours. Screen on time about 3 hours or around there and normally have about 40% left at night. Could easily make it 2 days.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I think you should expect about 3 hours give or take of screen on time on non debloated stock rom, as for idle time, you should disable what you don't use and what the stock rom will let you disable and that should easily get you though a day on a single charge.
