HOW TO UNBRICK PRESTIGIO 3970b DUO - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently got prestigio 3970b duo 7 " tablet that is stuck on the boot . With power on it would remain on the first screen and would not go any way, it was not possible to enter into recovery mode or to get recognized by the computer when it is connected via USB port with the classic combination of pressing vol + and power button at the same time .
Here's how I managed to revive :
Things you need for this:
1. AML tool from this link http://www.mediafire.com/download/y86c6f99irj3nme/AML_Flash.zip
Unzip it!
2. Firmware I found at the following address http://yf.value4it.com/Service_Files/TabletPC/PMP3970B/
I have used PMP3970B_20130505_v1.0.7.zip – unzip it!
3. Mini SD card 1GB minimum
4. Computer win7 64bit
5. Tablet stuck on boot with full battery
So this i what i did. I have downloaded AML tool on my computer and unziped it, downloaded firmware for flashing and unziped it (when unziped you will have 3 files, one is .zip file and you don't need to unzip it) , formated in FAT32 my SD card and copied firmware files on it. Now you are ready for tablet.
I have plugged in my USB cable while holding volume + button and short pressing power button about 10 times and computer finally recognize that some device is plugged in it. It will try to find drivers, but it can't be found.
Now you need to go in Control Panel - Device manager and you will see your tablet as Unknown device - M3-CHIP, now right click on it go to properties – driver – update driver, select browse my computer for drivers.
You will find drivers in unziped files of AML tool directory in AmlogicusbBurningdriver folder win7.
Windows will ask you if you want to do this, answer yes. Now it will install drivers on your tablet.
After that you need to go in your AML tool folder and find ImageBurnTool.exe and start the program, it will go to 62% or 65% and it will stop, saying it can't finish, but no worry, now you can close that program and unplug the tablet.
Leave tablet power off and insert mini SD card with flash files.
Now power on tablet by pressing only power button and it will start to flash the tablet by it self.
When it is done it will boot up and your tablet is alive again!!!
Now you can get your SD card out from tablet.
I hope that this will help someone.
This 100% worked for me, a i hope you understand that i am not going to take any responsibility if you break your tablet by doing this.

yf.value4it. com/Service_Files/TabletPC/PMP3970B/PMP3970B_20130505_v1.0.7.zip

Thank you sir!
its worked perfectly!!! amazing so much problems and find your solution, thank you very much

Thanks, worked like a charm.

[Q] OK, I have a real mess - Please Help!

I did an NVflash after struggling to load VEGaN 7 for a couple days figuring it was the partition issue that I have read about. Flash went off without a hitch - or so I thought.
I went to flash VEGaN 7 again, but my computer would not recognize connection via USB. Attempted to login to clockwork mod but instead I get message - "booting recovery image".
Thinking a factory reset might somehow free up my USB connection I did a factory reset - now I'm stuck in a bootloop.
So, to review--
I can't connect to PC via USB, Access CWM, or get past the bootloop.
BTW - I noticed while looking for options to connect to USB that it appeared my Internal and external SD cards switched locations after the NV flash. External, although not accessible was 12.9 gig and my internal showed slightly less than 1 gig.
Anyway, is there any hope for my G tab - I have never been so frustrated over such a simple process in my entire life.
sorry looked for a way to move this post to the correct location...

When you NVFlashed, did you use the version with or without CWM. If you did the version without CWM then that would explain no CWM.
When you say you can't connect to PC are you talking about APX mode (NVflash)?
Go here http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ and follow the instructions for CODE RED step by step. Make sure download everything via the links on the dummies site to make sure you get the right stuff.
Al
No I used the version with CWM, which is why I was suprised to see the "booting recovery image" and then it just continued to boot. I tried both APX via USB and a typical USB connection after loading --where PC gave error "device not identified".

So, just to verify, you hold Vol(-) and press/hold Power, 3 birds appear & screen goes black...that is APX mode. Connect usb cable to PC & what does the PC say?
USB device not recognized -
Still having that problem with USB device not recognized.
However, I have gone to ...for dummies site and reflashed device using the "flash USB driver" to temorarily gain access with USB connection. With NVFlash I Am back to having clockworkMod and working GTab with original software 1.1
Again going to flash rom - but Upon connecting USB i get the message "USB device not recognized" - I have attmpted to mount USB through CWM, but still getting that same error.

If your tab boots, you don't have to use CWM/mount & storage to transfer your rom to the internal sd. Put your external in your PC, copy the rom to it, move back to the tab & copy to your internal. There are also other ways to transfer it but we can talk about that later if you like.
If that works you can still flash your rom & then we can work on getting the usb up.
So, the usb not recognized is when you try to connect after your tab is either all booted up or in CWM mount & storage (and not when you are in APX mode doing NVFlash)?
If you look in device manager what does it show?
Try connecting your tab to a differet PC & see it detects it correctly?
If it works on another PC, you may want to tryto use USBDview http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html to look at the USB dvices that are connected or have been connected to your PC. You can find the gTab devices in the list & then use it's command line options (see instructions included with it) to remove(uninstall) them from the PC. Then you can reconnect to see if it will detect & install the driver correctly.
Can't use external load on pc to transfer rom. No card access.
USB did work in apx mode following instructions in code red. I thought of usin another pc and duplicated the failed results there.
Device manager showed yellow exclamation mark and would'n't install any driver I pointed it to (both computers) Unknown USB device.
Btw I want to thank you for trying to help me out on this. You people who lend your knowledge are commendable.

OK, try this. We are going to use Mobisynapse to wirelessly transfer files to & from your PC to the tab.
Download mobisynapse from my dropbox http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/Mobisynapse.exe & install on your PC.
From your gTab, download Mobisynapse system tool from my dropbox to your tab & install http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/com.mobisystems.office_registered-1.apk.
Start the app on the tab, click More & select Connect to PC to switch it to ON.
Start the Mobisynapse on your PC, it shoud see your tab, once it sees it click connect.
From there, go to the Files icon & you should see an Explorer type screen. PC on the left, tablet on the right. You can transfer files in either direction. Transfer your Rom files or whatever you want.
Let me know when you have downloaded the apps from my dropbox so I can remove them.

I downloaded them and installed, on tab it shows up as officesuite. When I run it "more" is not an option. On pc it simply says (can not connect to android device) under "choose devices". I did turn on USB debugging on tab.

Do I need to create a "roms" folder, and is it supposed to be the zip folder or the files within the zip folder?

It's easier that way, that way you can easily differntiate it from other files/folders. If you create the folder, then put the zipped rom inside the folder.
I turned connect to pc on. Running mobisynapse on pc it sees the tab just fine. I click connect and it pulls up info about tab, BUT when I go to files tab --- right side of screen is greyed out. It won't transfer files.

Third icon from the left...looks like a little file cabinet.
lol, yeah 3rd from left...
It seems to connect just fine, but under the file tab I can only see files from the PC on the left - the right side doesn't show any files and all buttons are greyed out. Again, under the home tab I have access to the GTab just fine. I can see apps, contacts, etc. but under file tab - no files on right side and buttons are not accessable.
So do you see the left (PC side)? Is the right side populated at all & what is in the drop down folder box (should be /sdcard)!

[Q] Help needed : To flash international ROM on Chinese Lenovo Ideapad A1-07

Hello all,
I recently purchased Lenovo Ideapad A1-07 (16 GB) in Shanghai. I am trying to flash international ROM on it by following these steps.
1. Download the file, rename it to "update.zip".
2. Copy the file to the root of micro SD card.
3. Hold "Vol-" button, then power on. You will see a android logo and a status bar.
4. After downloading the ROM, A1 is turned off itself.
5. Power it on and you will found that the animation after the lenovo logo is different. It takes longer time in first power on. Then you may find the language is changed to Japanese/ Chinese. You have to change it back to English in the option menu.
6. Now you can have an A1 with google apps!
When i connect my tablet to my Laptop i am not able to find 'root' folder in which we have to copy the downloaded international ROM file. Does this mean that i have to root my tablet ?
Also the step 2 above says that the downloaded file is to be copied to micro SD card. Does this mean an external micro SD card? Since my tablet has 16GB space i am not using any external card.
Please help.
Regards,
Jimmey
Can any one please help me with this ?
I copied the "update.zip" to my SD card and the external MicroSD card as well. For the life of me I could not figure it out...I tried over and over. However, I pulled a total "duh" when I realized it was named "update.zip.zip" Please make sure it is named correctly (update.zip) and enter into recovery...actually, it will automatically update and not enter into recovery.
BTW, did you download the USB drivers? You need those for the A1 to be recognized.
Please read the first post and see the links for USB drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355319
Hi Mike,
I had not installed ADB drivers but i did that y'day; after installation i execute the command 'adb devices' on the command prompt and its showing my device.
The file is named correctly as update.zip. I copied the file update.zip to the root folder (which has other folders like Android, DCIM, download, LOST.DIR, removable_sdcard, etc) then i hold the vol- and power on button. It shows Lenovo on the screen then it shuts down.
My suggestion is to try the vol+ button instead of the vol-. Worked for me and for someone who posted on a German Lenovo support forum.
BTW, the ADB drivers are not needed for file transfer, you just have to click the "enable usb storage" popup for that. You do need the ADB drivers if you want to root your device, but installing them would not hinder normal file transfer.
Good luck!

Help with Rooting Zoostorm SL8 mini.

Hello could anyone please help me with rooting my zoostorm sl8 mini running ICS. I just don't know which rooting program to use and with one will work. I have search the web now for days and cant find anything.
Please Help!
Thanks:good:
Use the Qemu exploit
This can device can be rooted using DoomLords Xperia script. I have ported the script to linux as well for Ubuntu users,
The original script is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
I haven't tested the Windows script, but I assume it will work as I haven't changed anything, the Linux script has been fully tested and I have successfully rooted the sl8 mini using it.
For Windows see below:
1) Download the attached zip file and Super1Click zip file ( http://download.cnet.com/SuperOneClick/3000-2094_4-75447027.html ).
2) Unzip the zip files into a new folders (you can use 7-zip for this : http://www.7-zip.org/)
3) Power on the Zoostorm Sl8 Mini and boot it normally.
4) Go into settings, developer options and tick USB debugging
5) Go to settings, security and tick Allow installtion of non-Market Apps
6) Connect the table to the PC with a USB cable.
7) When the new Hardware Found Wizard find the Android device and can't find a driver, select install from speficic location and browse to drivers folder under the folder you just unzipped the Super1click file to.
8) The driver should install from here and will show as an Acer Android device.
9) If Windows complains about the driver not being signed tell it to continue anyway.
10) Reboot the Windows PC if requested by the Hardware installation Wizard.
11) Discconect and replug the USB cable.
12) Open a windows command prompt
13) Navigate to the folder where the unzipped rootsl8mini.zip files are.
14) type runme.bat
15) Read the blurb on the screen and press any key to root your tablet.
16) The Sl8 mini will reboot several times, after it has reboot for the last time your sl8 mini will now be rooted.
For Linux (Ubuntu Precise Pangolin)
1) Install Android SDK, make sure the folder where adb is located is in your shell path variable. See link for Ubuntu instructions (http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/07...-androidsdk-in-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin/)
2) Download the attached rootsl8mini.zip file and unzip it into a folder.
3) Go into the folder where you unzipped the file and make the runme.bat.sh file executable. (Myhost:$ chmod 777 runme.bat.sh)
4) Power on the Zoostorm Sl8 Mini and boot it normally.
5) Go into settings, developer options and tick USB debugging
6) Go to settings, security and tick Allow installtion of non-Market Apps
7) Connect the tablet to the PC with the USB cable.
8) Execute the runme.bat.sh script (Myhost:$ ./runme.bat.sh)
9) Read the blurb on the screen and press any key to root your tablet.
10) The Sl8 mini will reboot several times, after it has reboot for the last time your sl8 mini will now be rooted.
Enjoy
Thank you, do I go to unzipped file using command prompt?
Thanks
I have tried to root the tablet and it wont install the drivers, it keeps saying that the file is corrupted or missing.
I'am running windows 8 64.
any suggestion's why it is doing this?
Many thanks :good:
I`m a noob to the Zoostorm. Are there any JB / CM10 ports for it?
Are they known as another name elsewhere in this forum?
Can anyone shed any light on this? Fantastic write-up by mikel by the way. Will test as soon as the mother-in-law gets hers for xmas from us!
Superb MIKEL543 i have done it, thank you so much, it took me a bit to figure it out but i managed to do it YAY..lol.
Now the problem is i cant watch and films from google play or flixster as it say that it cant because my Tablet is rooted .
i have tried everything and cant get it to work! :good:
easy way to root : http://zoostormsl8.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/root-zoostorm-sl8-mini-3310-9506.html
download and update the zip
Bought this tablet as a gift for my father and assumed that connecting it to a usb keyboard would be straightforward (yeap android noob ) . My question is , is that even possible? Is there a custom rom that can be installed, I presume after rooting the device that enables usb host mode?

[Q] LG L3 E430 Security Error - wont boot

As the title says my LG L3 E430 wont boot up. The LG logo appears for a moment, disappears, then reappears with the words Security Error beneath it. It then shuts down
Confession time...Been a long time since I rooted my HTC and jumped straight in to the "how to" below out of boredom I guess!.....
STEPS:
1. Set your device on download mode (shutdown the phone, then press "ON + Volume Down") and connect via USB on your PC
2. Download this file: m eg a.co . n z /#!AgxRTZDA!Z0Ni-g5eg9D-X9YEwVcKCFN8hpYwvbex6YCop5MTqfo (remove spaces, i cant post a entire url for the new users restrictions, sorry)
3. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi)
4. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
5. Set "Type" on "3GQTC" and "PoneMode" on "DIAG"
6. Select V10E_00.kdz from the folder that you downloaded
7. Click on "Launch software update" and wait a few minutes
8. After it finished, put Framaroot-1.6.0.apk on your SDcard or Internal memory
9. Autorice external apps on phone options, then use a file explorer to allocate and execute Framaroot, use Gandaf exploit
Everything seemed to go as planned until step 8. My PC no longer recognised the phone so I removed SD card and copied Framaroot to it. It was around this time I remembered about bootloader and thought DARN! I've screwed up
Anyway before I get the pleasure of smashing it with a sledge hammer (hated it from day one!) I thought I would ask if there is anyway back from this situation....
It will go into download mode but pc doesn't see it and I cant access it because, as I said, it turns on, Security Error comes up and then it shuts down.

[Solved] Onda V919 Air Dual OS Fix non booting Tablet

So, as the story goes, I accidently bricked by tablet, by rooting it.
Now all I have is.
- EFI Shell
- EFI OS
- my USB Stick
I managed to boot the stock 4.4.4 firmware downloaded from "" and it flashed it's files (system.img boot.img etc.)
However the tablet still refused to boot.
Nevermind Fixed it.
==================================================================================
=======FIXNG you tablet (Onda V919 Air Dual OS in my case ) WITHOUT Fastboot===================
Disclaimer: this WILL completly erase your Tablet and REMOVE THE WINDOWS PARTITION if you had one
It is advised to remove the Micro SD from your TABLET PRIOR USING THIS FIXING PROCESS, it MIGHT GET ERASED
All you need to fix your tablet (as long as you can still access the Bios Screen via USB Keybaord and pressing ESC during boot) is:
- USB OTG Adapter
- USB Hub (preferably self powered over USB)
- USB Keyboard
- USB Stick (formatted FAT 32)
In my case I required the Firmware "V919_Air_DualOS_4.4.4_V1.0.0_v7" (Kernel Version: 3.10.20-00004-gf8a8ae3-dirty).
#00 Fetching the Firmware
##This is the step I cannot help you with: You need to aquire the corresponding FW for your Tablet (it will be a *.rar file with at least 500MB I surmise)
1. Extract the files from the rar to the USB Stick (formatted in FAT32)
2. Connect the USB Keyboard to the Hub
3. Connect the USB Stick to the hub aswell
4. Connect the USB Hub itself to the Tablet (by USB OTG)
5. Turn the Tablet on and press "ESC" immediately & hold it until you enter BIOS (this SHOULD work, even if you tablet refuses to boot into Fastboot via VOL+,VOL- & Power hold)
6. Change the boot order inside "BOOT" to 1. EFI Shell
7. Press F4 and "Save and Exit" (leave everything connected and don't touch the Tablet)
8. The Tablet should now reboot to EFI Shell
9. From here on things should go automatically (startup.nsc should be automatically read from the stick and should autoboot the Recovery files)
[[startup.nsc should contain this line (if you open it in the Editor of your PC): efilinux-eng.efi -f droidboot.img]]
10. If DroidBoot is on...: biggest you are nearly done !
11. wait for Droid Boot to flash all files (system.img will take a REALLLLLY long time... just leave everything as is)
12. Tablet will reboot in Android Mode
I'd love if there was a subcategory called "Onda Tablets" so s.o. could pin this.
It is possible that such guide exists already, but I had spent the last day just fixing my device... so...)
Please report back to tell me if it worked for you.
