Hey
I just moved from WinMo to Android (Omnia i900 modded). The stock call logger shows all the calls and the messages in it. I want to do 2 things:
1. Clear messages from the call log. - Other threads suggest going to Phone/Contacts/History and then setting to show only the calls, but that is not practical for 1000+ contacts if you're doing that one by one. Another option mentioned is to set to "View By" which is absolutely useless.
2. How to stack/group all the calls made to the same contact together (be it calls to home/work/mobile etc.) - something that was being done in WinMo (up to WinMo 6.5)
Any suggestions people.
I like the stock dialer app, so not much interested in switching to an alternate (except as a last option). Thanks in advance

The only solution i have for you right now is, use another mess app and freeze the samsung mess app
Thanks for the reply. But is there not a mod that is available from a developer which could solve this issue. I believe that this is an issue with Gingerbread nd a lot of people must be having the same complain.
Otherwise, any suggestions on an alternate dialer / sms client which would be the PERFECT alternate for the stock dialer?

This is a custom Samsung call log that does this. The stock gingerbread call log does not show texts with calls, and it also groups calls from same person together in a sub expandable list.
The Samsung call log just stinks is the problem. If only you could load the stock version.

Any idea how to get hold of the stock Gingerbread call log app. Any apk available for that?
There are some issues with google voice and the stock ROM.
-Sender id is shown as google's bridge number when receiving texts instead of sender.
-Outgoing call log shows google's bridge number instead of number called.
-Doesn't allow Google Voice's voicemail to be used.
These issues don't seem to be there in other phones stock like the S2. Are they there in custom rom's for this phone?
Thanks.

The Google Voice voicemail does work if you set it up via the web interface by going to settings-->phones-->activate Google voicemail on this phone.
Thanks, got that working, but now there's another problem. I don't get any notifications of new voicemail. Have to manually go and check the Inbox in the GV app.
Hi,
does anyone know a dialer app, that has a stock Samsung Dialer functionality to mark calls in call log and then delete them? I was searching all over the net and forums, but with no luck. All they offer is "remove all calls from call log" or single call delete within menu.
Or even better, if someone could tell me, if there is a possibility to install Samsung stock dialer (4.x) to custom AOSP/AOKP/CM ROM. Because as far as I know, you cannot.
Thanks!
I just upgraded from my Samsung Captivate which was running CM10 to the HTC One. One of the things I loved about the old phone was that all my voicemails would show up in my call log and I could play them from there. When I tried setting up GV on the new phone, I got a bunch of error messages and somehow the phone removed my old call forwarding rules and then couldn't reapply them. So I logged out of the Google Voice app and tried again. No dice. Finally, I went back and did it the old fashioned way by manually typing in the MMI code and managed to get the calls forwarded again to GV. When I went to the dialer app to manually switch the voicemail provider to GV, I again get the error messages and when it asks to still switch to the new provider I click OK. However, it kicks out another error message and then shows that nothing has changed and still lists AT&T as the default voicemail provider. So, has anyone managed to get this working properly or have AT&T and HTC once again colluded to completely bork functionality that works oh so well on stock Android?
Just got a response to my support request from HTC. Laughably, they claim they "cannot guarantee full functionality with Play Store applications." That is pretty pathetic. In their quest to differentiate, they eliminated one of the best features of Android in my mind. I hated dialing numbers and using the dialpad to access and control voicemail years ago. When Google made Google Voice available on Android, it was one of the factors that made me choose it over the iPhone. Then they made it even better than visual VM on iOS by integrating it into the dialer. This dialer from HTC is a huge step in the wrong direction. I don't need all this FB and Twitter integration crap. Just let me access my VM in the best possible way.
I have it working but I never got it to work using the Google voice app configuration.
It was still working when I swapped my son card to the HTC one from my gs3.
I had to go into the phone app and change the forwarding numbers manually. Also the voice mail number.
If that doesn't work I think you can contact at&t and they can fix it for you.
Wait...you have your Google voice voicemails showing up in the dialer app so that you can click play and listen to them without going into the GV app? I did manage to get the forwarding set up, but I want the voicemails to show in the dialer like they did on CM10.
Not working on Sprint and HTC One either

Same issue, voicemail set up, but I can not get the call log to show voicemails. Tried unchecking voicemail display as indicated in other forums, but doesn't work either way.
Bump...no dialer integration or notifications is a big problem for me as well.
Instead of making a new thread I will just bump this one. Did anyone managed to get they HTC One to integrate Google Voice visual voicemail into the dialer? I searched everywhere but couldn't find any info on that.
Maybe there are any 3rd party modifications that can fix this issue?
p.s Just to clear things for someone who reads between the lines my GV Voicemail is working fine, what I am trying to figure out is how to integrate it into dialer and get visual voicemail from there.

No luck. I stopped trying. I may give it another go.
Just installed ARHD Google edition Rom and visual google voice voicemail works great in there, but I prefer Sense based Rom so will go back to it. Shame visual voicemail doesn't work on it, seems like HTC broke the compatibility.
If anyone knows a solution that would be great!
Hi,
Is it possible to send a receive phone calls using Hangouts Dialer (now a combined Hangouts app) using an old phone running gingerbread (mine is 2.3.5) or even a custom ROM running 4.2.2 (mine is AOCP on Inspire 4G)
To put things in context:
I am using Inspire 4G running stock AT&T ROM with Android 2.3.5 and can successfully make voice calls using Google Hangouts v2.4.78234730. However, I do not have functionality of making calls to phone numbers that I do have on my LG G2 running stock T-Mobile ROM with Android 5.0.2 running Google Hangouts v3.1.89134953. and Google Hangouts Dialer v0.1.81604947.
I know Inspire 4G is a strong device and can make VoIP calls because I have been using Mo+ and GV Phone to make VoIP calls using Google Voice account. Now that Google decided to shut all the third-party voice applications and not offering Hangouts Dialer for GB, does anyone know a workaround, i.e., a known working Hangouts Dialer APK or ZIP that I can sideload or flash?
Thanks!
I got the same question. I tried sideloading hangouts dialer on my 2.3.6 device and I get a parsing error. Is there a way to fix this? I to can use other voip apps. But not hangouts
