The only way to root it is by ODIN (indirectly)
Just grab a ClockworkMod recovery ported for your device as ODIN flashable image (.img)
Go to odin. In your phone keep the home, vol + and power buttons pressed till it goes on download mode. In ODIN, choose the preloader and recovery and disable the reboot after flash. Press start. After it finishes, you can remove the battery and boot into CWM. From there flash SuperSu.zip update file (google for it). Reboot and congrats. Note that you may brick your device with ODIN. Please refer to video tuts for a step-by-step solution. Anyway, hope i helped.

Beware! Rooting your device using the aforementioned method WILL work, but will void your warranty by tripping KNOX WARRANTY VOID. It cannot be reset once tripped.

only the indian firmware NJ2 and NK1 have this knox issue.

If you want a custom rom just install twrp and get on a og6 rom.

However both trip Knox oh well Knox is nothing on s5

update is great..
UI and animations are amazing but they haven't given the option to format SD card as internal. It can be done with Adb however without rooting just Google it.. .
Also the phone seems more snappy and fast..

New touch wiz is great especially the contacts app..
More or less similar than before only minor changes...
Since I have no plans to root it as of now so I can't tell you about twrp or anything..
Messaging is now very laggy on marshmallow. Lollipop was better!
Yet, overall, smooth update for our galaxy J500.
But i have 2 concerns. Please help me out:
1.After i updated my J500F to the indian marshmallow, my phone is permanently on roaming and the mobile internet(lte/3g/2g) doesn't work. Do you think it's related to this update? Due to the fact that i am from Romania and the rom is India?
2. Can i still root my J500F running on marshmallow with the same procedure of CF-AUTO-ROOT which is already online for lollipop?
Thanks!
Congratulations to the owners of models J500H
and wait for the update to other models

Adoptable storage feature not present
I tried the adb hack for enabling adoptable storage (use sd card as internal storage) and it is NOT working.. :crying: dumb Samsung!

Download the firmware 6.0.1 https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy J5/9c89/INS/J500FXXU1BPF4/J500FODD1BPF4/
and flash Odin....(I hope you know how to Use Odin)
That's all!
aight the thing is, i'm using nick verse's cm12.1 for j500f , and it's good, a few bugs but ok, and it's 250mb~ , this **** is 1.1GB with probably full of crappy side apps which requires extra effort to wipe off of phone and still takes so much space in memory right? I guess i'll wait for cm13. Any suggestions? should i be using this?

Installation of this version does not affect the warranty
If you of course do not have installed TWRP or ROOT the warranty is not removed

The only reason to use Kingroot is if there are no other options for your phone. You can root via CF Auto Root or via instaling TWRP and using that to flash the SuperSU zip. Plenty of info about this in the S5 forums here.
CF AUTO ROOT is available for 5.0 ..and TWRP is not available for this model
Can anyone kindly guide how to root stock S5 G900h on 6.0.1. I have tried odin method to flash twrp. After showing 'pass' and reset phone still no twrp.
