Hi Folks,
Can anybody suggest any decent device which is compatible with all below requirements.
Sailfish OS
Ubuntu OS
Tizen OS
Android Custom ROM
If this is a duplicate thread ,pls guide me to appropriate thread.
Thanks
Good luck finding anything compatible with tizen. Your only gonna be able to use Samsung devices but as that os is not on alot of devices and no developers will touch it your out of luck.
Thanks for our response mate.
If tizen is skipped what is other best option.

I was going through the xdadevelopers forums when I saw that the process of installing ROMs seems of be device dependent. Can someone please explain me why it is so?
More specifically, shouldn't the process of installing a pure Android ROM (AOSP) be the same on every device since all of them are based on the ARM architecture.
I haven't installed an android ROM before, but I am trying to understand why the process isn't similar to installing a Linux based OS on my computer.
I recently bought an Android tablet (HCL ME X1) to experiment with ROMs but later realized that there aren't ROMs for this device. Can someone let me if I can use the ROMs of any other device for this?
Because all different models have different hardware so the rom has to be specific to that device.

Thanks for the reply stylez.
So I guess if I want to develop a custom ROM (say an AOSP ROM) I will need the device drivers which my vendor wrote.
Is there any way of identifying the vendor specific drivers of my device? I am using an HCL ME X1.
I am new in XDA developer forum. I knew java and android at the immediate level. Now I'm interested in creating my own Android smartphone ROM. After searching in google, I see that there are a thing which is called "Default ROM" released by google. Base on this ROM, different companies created different ROM in their own style such as Sense, Motoblur, TouchWiz, etc.
So where could I download such a default ROM, and how could I begin with ROM developer. It is kind from my if anybody could give me a tutorial.
(Sorry if the question is exist in the forum, because I could not find it)
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
me too, i have the same question, can someone help? thx
Your best bet is to have a look at compiling the aosp from source which you will need a Linux os for. The android sdk is a good place to start.

Yes to build android from Google's source you will have to have a Linux os. Either stand alone Linux or a version like ubuntu

One place you can start by checking and has a lot of good info is http://freeyourandroid.com/
I learned how to port from them although I still need to ask questions but it can get you started.
If you just want to get Ubunto going in a virtual machine for now and have NO IDEA take a look at this: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/26/ho...om-for-android-part-1-setting-up-the-kitchen/
Old release links but Ubunto will update itself
Hello Everybody,
Many of you must be familiar with Ubuntu Mobile, Ubuntu's latest project in the field of mobiles. Now the question is- Is Ubuntu supported on HTC HD2?
The Answer to the question is- Yes. As explained in the Linked video(See Below) by UBUNTU Co-founder, Ubuntu works on all the devices which can run Android. If you're not sure what I am saying, please see the video, seek it to 20:49 if you don't want to watch the whole video. It is based on Android Kernel only.
See the video here- http://youtu.be/cpWHJDLsqTU

I am here with a new challenge, and that is the Porting Of Ubuntu Mobile. I hope you all are ready for it! :good:
I will be waiting for a Native SD Release!
Many of you might be thinking what is this thing doing in Android Section, the answer to your question is as its kernel is same with that of Ubuntu, you guys have the best chances of porting Ubuntu Mobile into HD2.
Your help will be appreciated.

Even though it might use the android kernel it belongs in ubuntu section.
P.s. The android kernel and ubuntu kernel are built from the same source anyway
曾经尝试过Ubuntu核心,非常好,十分期待Ubuntu的SD ROM
Native SD 个人感觉好像是掩耳盗铃
Is there any developer working on ubunto mobile for hd2?

Alright , nowaddays there are many new OS like firefox OS, Blackberry 10 OS, blackberry 7 os, and many more!
So can you developers port all the latest rom to our mdpi devices????????? It will be really kind of you guys to do that!
1. Firefox OS: I think there's nowhere we could start to port it, so currently not possible
2. Blackberry OS 10: I don't think it's possible or if, it would be too hard to do, because it's not an android os
3. Many More: All Android based roms (should) be possible to be ported, but it's hard (e.g. sense). I guess there will be some developers who could do this, but our devices are no high end devices...
Better a phone with a well working android os than a buggy/lagging non-android os

Hello all, I am new to XDA forums. Previously I only used to visit XDA for custom ROM for galaxy y and its trouble shooting. Now after flashing so many ROMs I have a good idea about how to flash any ROM. But I wanted to learn how to port an OS. How do people port Cyanogen mod onto various phones? I know its source code is freely available, but how to fine tune it to work for a particular device. ? How to learn the basics of creating a custom ROM and how to build one? Also how to develop Android Apps and port any OS on android-suited hardware architecture (like Qualcomm SoCs).. Sorry if I misinterpreted and told any technical terms here.! I am a Computer Science student in first year engineering! I know C++, Visual basic and HTML
