Good day mates.
I just got an old Vibrant and saw that it already had a CM10.1 ROM in it, I decided to update it to KitKat using OmniROM 4.4 [HOMEMADE] [T959] [FEB 13], now I get the Encryption Unsuccessful bug. I followed the instructions to the dot, and I'm not new to flashing ROMs.
I just restore back to my back-up and everything works well again, I don't know what seems to be the problem. I can't flash back to stock Froyo since the USB port is broken.
I would've hoped mobile Odin worked on the Vibrant. Any helps/links would help or any advice on how to resolve it. TIA :good:

After you flash Omni ROM and Gapps, you should flash lastest Semaphore Kernel
And if I decide to update to OmniROM LP? Should I still use Sephamore kernel?

Hello everyone .
I don't know what to do . I am sitting a lot , trying to update my version (4.0.3) to 4.2.1. Also, i am looking for a stable Rom with working GPS.
Do i have to update my version in oder to put a Rom that based on a newer Version?
I got Ics Passion v13 with 3.1.10-ICS Passion Kernel.
I tried to update from Kies but it doesn't recognize my Phone (There is no option in the ICS ROM to put the USB connection in Kies mode )
I really need help - how to update the version and what Kind of Rom and Kernel are the bests in your opinion ?

You can try the new AOKP build. Vibrantmtd is once supported again instructions for installing the rom are listed in the thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208126.
As far as GPS is concerned it is either a hit or miss...might work or it might not. Unfortunately I am not able to test it since my vibrant is bricked
But I can tell you that AOKP is an excellent rom I been using it for nearly a year now since I bought my Galaxy Nexus. It is far much better than ICS passion in every aspect. Never had any problems with it.
As for the kernel I can't really say which one I would recommend since I honestly can't ever recall flashing a kernel for my vibrant...I've always used the kernels that are included in the ROM(S).
Just remember to backup your apps...because you will lose them in the process since this is not an update...it is more of an upgrade(4.0.3 to 4.2.2).
Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions.

The ROM will update you straight to 4.2.2. I don't think you need to be on 4.1 to update or any other version for that matter. Just flash the ROM through recovery and you should be good to go. Good luck.
You can use my cyanaosp build which is reported to have good gos from many users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167819
Or you can use my rootbox port which also has great gps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167857

Hello
I have this rom in my rom slot 3, just as I been told trough the official thread.
If I do a full backup of the ROM in Safestrap after installing all my programs and settings, can I then Restore it to the Stock Rom Slot?
I have always done this with all the other custom rom's with no problem, I do not want more than one ROM on my phone, call me weird...
Wouldn`t do that if I were you... These custom roms are hard coded to only work on specific slots. In case of Liquid Smooth, it only works on slot 3 for now, but that will probably be fixed soon.
BTW, I`ve flashed CM 10.1 accidentally on my stock slot (Was on custom ICS rom) and now I can`t boot on stock slot, only on CM 10.1 (slot 1) and Liquid Smooth (slot 3).
Facing some issues, trying to solve them, but no success so far...

When this happens to me I always swallow my pride and go back to stock via RSDlite.
But I have always done like I said with all the custom roms, I have never had any problems after but the whole restore on stock rom slot.
But let's say, If I continue to use rom slot three. If I then go into Safestrap and format the stock rom slot, this will free up the space on mye phone right?
Not sure about that, but since you have usb working, you`ll always have RSD,.. My usb isn`t working, but I don't know if it's hardware or something messed up with stock slot...

What about making a backup file from the one rom you have working and restore it to stock rom slot? It will not boot on this slot at all?
I have been out in the dark maybe 100 times before, but I have never had usb not working??? Strange..
My case is that I'm on ICS on stock and on JB on rom slots...
I was wondering, did I mess my CID by installing JB over LATAM ICS, since there isn`t a LATAM JB release yet?
Anyways, sorry, completely out of topic here, so, let`s go to the point:
If you see me as a lab rat, you should know that I just tried flashing my working LiquidSmooth backup on stock slot, and didn`t work... At least for me...

Maybe you have to let the stock rom slot be, until there is a rot or rsd for Jelly Bean
Haha, lab rat!
I jus tried the same myself, but the device would not start so this does not work.
For now I have formated and wiped my stock rom slot, and I have liquid smooth in slot 3 wich will be my daily rom waiting for things to happen.

Yeah, but in my case no usb, so it`ll have to be via stock recovery...
Well, for now, since there`s no use for my stock slot, I`m gonna do the same as you...
Yeah, thinks it's the best when your stock rom is out of order!
But liquid smooth is a pretty neat rom, it makes me not wanna go back to the regular ics roms.

Btw, when I think about it I once had a usb not working with the first razr maxx I bought.
I do not remeber everything, but I fixed it trough a guide I found trough putting some files on my SD card and installing from there?
You know what tutorial I mean? Have you tried this?
No, haven`t seen it!
I was wondering, what happens if I install both TWRP and CWM recovery?

Some custom roms can be updatet sort of like your asking!
But you should make a habbit of always clean install custom roms, this way you get into troubles less often and the stability will often be better,,

Hello Team,
I have been a silent follower of this website and have rooted my SGSII 6 months ago. Everything was working absolutely fine with no problems.
Very recently I upgraded my build to 4.2.2 JDQ39 with Kernel Version: 3.0.64-CM. My wireless is not working at all. I am not even able to turn on the wifi option.
I tried installing the below ROMs to check the functionality:
ThinkingBridge
Paranoid
Resurrection.
None of the above worked.
I'd request anyone in this thread to give me a workaround or a solution to fix this thing.
Thank you
Harry

Anyone in this forum has experienced this issue before me? Please advice.
Do a clean (format everything in CWM first, then use Odin) install of stock & see if the problem persists. Tho you've tried these other roms, you might have left something funky behind from one of them (just doing a wipe may not get rid of this) that has persisted.
If you have no problems with stock, try another install of the custom rom of your choice & see how you go.
Or maybe even try a completely different kernel before you do the stock thing. Try Siyah/Dorimanx maybe ?

I flashed Official Samsung Firmware 4.1.2 on my GS2 using Odin but still the problem persists.
Hey there. I'm having trouble upgrading from Android 2.3.7 to 4.3. I want to use CyanogenMod 10.2 and at least according to the gapps download page you need 4.3 to use it. On the stock firmware my Wi-fi doesn't work and it won't let me update Android without being connected to it. In CM7, the WiFi works but I don't see an option to upgrade Android. Is there some way I can upgrade Android without being connected to Wifi, or some way from CM7?
Thanks.

Thanks - can you tell me where to find a 4.1.2 stock rom? Or do I have to upgrade Odin Lite to do it?
Also, as a complete and utter noob, I'm just kind of confused as to what the difference is between flashing firmware through Odin versus using Clockwork Mod to install a ROM from SD card? Thanks.

I don't know if it works in Odin cause I haven't tried it, but there is a link somewhere in the Skynote port ROM thread that has the modem as a zip flashable in recovery. It DOES work as I am on MJ9 on Paranoid Android 4.4.2.

Well from "Krowley3's" Sophisticated ROM thread, you can flash it via ODIN with this file: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319198557
Thanks for letting me know its working for you on PA.

No problem. Try flashing it then. I'm sure it should work.
Well I ended up flashing the file...the first time was through TWRP and it didnt change anything. The next time I tried through ODIN and it gave me an "unknown baseband" that a lot of people are reporting. I ended up with no data, had to flash back to stock and start all over again using vramc3.
Numzi, how did you get it working on your phone?
I'm running the new firmware with CM11. I flashed it in cwm and it works fine

For anyone reading this thread and had trouble like me with the modem, try flashing this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48640/android/VRUEMJ9_zif.zip
