As it is a Sharp made phone, I am wondering if the SH-12C rooting method works.
Attached are the latest version root tool files.
Please install both of them first.
- Run SHBreak
- Hit "Break" (1 or 2 should be fine)
- Run SHBreak again
- Hit "Copy SU"
- Run ISTweak
- "Enable SU"
Try to run app which requires root access to make sure it is rooted successfully.
If it could be rooted, I will post the wifi tether method for testing.
Thanks guys!

hi, tested those files are not able to temp root.
hit break but "copy su" didn't come up in next step.
wifi tether can be used by default after official unlock (tested here in Hong Kong with local carrier.)

finally got the phone. love it. but it sure lags a lot.
needs a custom rom real bad. was thinking of asking cyanogenmod to setup a donation thing and if we all donated 10$ and after 100 owners they can buy it and start developing. I'm sure loads of people will gladly donate even the Japanese and Australian users.
EDIT: Finally cut my sim card to fit the slot, but now phone says it is locked! Anyone know how I can unlock it?

Yes, you need to go to a DoCoMo shop with a valid Japanese ID card, and ask for the sim unlock. Costs 3150 yen. There's no other method AFAIK...
Very few of these online Keitai sellers sell unlocked phones, even though now DoCoMo can unlock their models released starting April 1 2011.

unlock and root
unlock makes your phone usable on other carrier's network. Rooting gives you administrator privilege so that you can for example install "root" only apps etc.
Root the phone so you can backup properly with Titanium Backup. Also to delete cap off your system folder.
Call your carrier and explain you need to unlock your phone because you are going to be traveling out of the country. I have heard that works for getting an unlock code...

best answer for ur question
Rooting allows complete access to all phone software...allows u to install any rom, kernel, and software that u want as long as its compatible with your phone.
Unlock allows you to use your phone with any cell phone carrier...

I bought a LGL43AL tracphone. I tried to root it with several root apps and PC programs. I was finally able to root it with Kingo Root via PC. However, When I tried to run SuperSU I get a message "There is no SU binary installed and Super SU cannot install it. This is a problem!". Also, when I reboot my phone, it becomes unrooted. After trying many things, I have come to the conclusion that my bootloader is locked. On this phone, recovery is merely to reset to factory mode. There are no other options. I did find a tutorial on how to unlock European lg tracfones by getting a code. I am in the US and was leary to try it. Which led me here to get some advice. Any help or suggestions would be great.
Ok, so I've been looking into this some more and have found that the For LG Optimus Zone 3, LG K4 LTE, LG Spree, and the LG Rebel LTE are basically the same phone. Does this mean that I can use the same method to root my phone (mine being the Rebel LTE)? I ask because there are ample threads on the Optimus zone 3. I don't really care about the warranty on my phone. I just don't want to brick it.
@becksterorange
This was the method I used to replace KingUser with SuperSU on a few different devices.

I tried also with kingo and kingroot and lost root also. Bummer. Not a big deal but root is always welcomed. Main thing i use root for is to use the adaway app and delete that god aweful tracfone boot and shutdown logo, which requires root. Maybe someone else will figure it out and share with us.
I disabled most of the google apps as they are useless to me. Very snappy for what it is. I got it on a good deal at walmart. They had it priced wrong at $19.98 and had to sell it to me because of their goof up. Was suppose to be like $79.99.
Nice price for your phone. I really just like to get rid of the bloat and to use lucky patcher. Maybe someday on this phone. ?

Good morning BigMoe1738,
I think that you should try Kingoroot App or iRoot (if you have a PC of course) to root your LG. I have rooted my own LG L3ii using iRoot, but I do not own the LG Ls755.
Please inform me if you try these methods.

I'm finding that the LG x Power is bullet proof. I have tried every kind of way to root it that I can find on the black mart to the internet and youtube. Nothing seems to want to work. The good news is the phone doesn't brick after a failed attempt. That is my experience only. It may freeze up but still can be turned off and back on again.
So I ask... Is there any working things out there?
I want to learn to code to make a way to root if someone wants to help me? Trying to get info to learn how and linux a computer.
Just got a system update from LG... Wondering if I should hold off on it as long as I can?
Such a sad strange sick world we live in where we have to knowingly attempt to make our mobile computers vulnerable to viruses just to have administrative rights to a system we bought and paid for...

Rooting work with FRP lock enabled?
Hi, I am trying to root my Lg X Power as well. However in preparation of this, I factory reset it, completely forgetting about the FRP.
So long story short, I need some sort of bypass for the FRP lock, or a way to root that doesn't care about the FRP being activated.
Hey I just found a post about it at another page, they claim it works on this model, as well as other versions of the X power, has anyone read about it or try it??

Here you go:
1) Obtain hammer
2) smash LG Phone
3) research, research, research
4) buy different phone with working root
In all seriousness, if you can take the phone back do so. LG phones do not root. If unable to return it, hopefully you at least got a good deal. Next time do the homework and buy something with a known root. The days of buying a phone and just rooting it with an all-in-one kit are over.

The reason it can't be rooted is because manufacturers and software developers are securing THEIR investment. By locking down devices it increases security measures against malicious attacks from outside sources and software and decreases the risk of consumers reporting vulnerabilities and attacks on their hardware and software due to end-user modification.
While we own the individual hardware with the software installed, we do not own the RIGHTS or LICENSE to the software and hardware. Therefore we cannot claim to be able to do whatever we want with the device just because it's in our pockets.
You want root? Get any Samsung, HTC, Pixel or older LG device. While the same rule above applies, people try harder on them because they are the most popular devices among users and the ecosystem between them is very similar and easily exploitable.
Aside from all that, root and rom developers don't really give many ****s about low-end, stupid cheap hardware anymore like they used to. *Insert related Metallica lyric here*

Yeah? Those some models have included the last three that I've purchased. Most of the time a root exists for some European model but not the US model so when I try to do my diligence and research it comes up as having a root method only for me to discover that the method does not actually work.
Your word games to the contrary I think the posts in this thread make it clear that LG phones do not have root. Much easier to write off LG than to keep wasting money on phones that don't actually root. Effectively LG phones do not root.

Can you elaborate by "switching carrier's?" Do you mean putting an att/Verizon sim into a T-Mobile phone? Or flashing a att/Verizon firmware to a T-Mobile phone?
If you're referring to the sim, then no. You'll have to either pay for a service to do it for you or wait for TMobile to unlock it for you.

I thought T-Mobo's bootloaders were unlocked by default (as is the T-Mobo's Note 5)?
NP
Piezan, sorry I was vague.Secure Settings has a Tasker plugin that under the right conditions allows you to either build a Tasker Profile ( voice, geofence or whatever ) to toggle Data or straight up make a widget for it...I remember on my Nexus 5 I had a Tasker Profile that as soon as I was about 50 feet from the house I would enter an AutoLocation Geofence I had set (Home) thus toggling my Data in favor of the home WiFi. The main reason I suggested it is that it requires root (for the SS part).
I guess I'll ask here.
When rooted is the 80% limit ,actual or perceived ? I keep reading it's still 100pct just reporting 80.
What exactly breaks or stops working. I know about Android and Samsung pay. But I've read Samsung health which is mind boggling that root would have anything to do with a heart rate sensor.
Lastly my main desire is for one click video download ,and Instagram downloads of stories or vids etc. These are Xposed dependent. Would I be able to use Xposed with samfail. (If not any non root alternatives?)
Fastboot and Download mode
I'm on rooted note 8 and booting into Download mode every time to charge the phone to 100% instead of 80%. Using hardware keys to get back to OS every time is uncomfortable and takes too long. Easiest way I know is to do "fastboot reboot" from PC, while the phone connected via USB. However, I cant get my PC to recognize the phone while it is in Download mode - "fastboot devices" lists nothing, and if I try "fastboot reboot" the command prompt just sits on < waiting for device >.
Does anyone know what note 8 specific drivers for Windows 10 x64 need to be installed, or what else to do to make fastboot recognize connected phone in Download mode?
I know the same feeling with the fastboot I can't seem to figure it out. I usually use Minimal ADB and Fastboot and it's worked on most every modern droid I've ever owned I don't see why the Note 8 is so finicky with it. I had no problems with it and my V20.
I know that these things take time, but does anyone have any idea if anyone is working on root for the new updated bootloader? I know that the new bootloader that came with last update broke root but I have not heard or seen anything. I haven't updated but would like to know. ????
