Do you still have the board?
Do you still have the board? Also what was your problem?
My xperia z2 died recently, just doesn't turn on at all, I even tried putting it on charge for 24+ hours ( ! ), only the red led turns on when it is connected to a mains, but phone stays off and the red led never turns to orange.
I unplugged the battery, and then plugged in a charger and the same red led lit up, which makes me think that the Motherboard isn't giving power to the battery.
Did you have a similar issue? Do I need a new battery instead?

you have a hard brick !!!

Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately I don't have a TA backup image, this Z2 was bone-stock (I bought it used from someone who got it from UK so it had only UK based Warranty); never modded or rooted so I never backed TA partition up either. All I ever did to it was flash official ftfs via Flashtool by Androxide. And every time it functioned perfectly after the flashing. Except for the RF functions (WIFI/BLUETOOTH/FM Radio), but that was due to the IC dying about 3 months back, couldn't send it to UK for repair because of the requirement of Proof of Ownership Receipt, which I didn't have anymore.
Anyway so without a TA backup what can I do with a Hard Brick, I should also note that the phone doesn't enter flash mode with flashtool nor show up in the computer at all, its red led just lights up as if it were connected to a charger and that's it.
Just checked this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
It seems we can now have DRM Functions without the Keys from TA, so I'm fine with a solution to this hardbrick even if it wipes my TA partition. However my bootloader is not unlockable (checked in service menu a couple of days after I got it).

Unbrick Radio

Hi All,
Im gonna keep it simple.
**I'll start with the story of what exactly happened to my Xperia play so that who so ever has bricked their play unfortuantely by the same way can relate.
I unlocked bootloader, rooted my fone, deleted the useless sony crap and unrooted.....Then did a update over the edge connection thru fone only, it downloaded a software and started installing it, the fone switched off but never came back.
So i tried installing the UK generic formware almost 4-5 times, not realising that its gone now(bricked).
Gave the phone a try with diff patches made thru the uk firmware, no luck.
Sent the play to Sony ppl, it came back after 2 weeks.....unrepaired....i still dont know what all they tried..????
So all the good work done by ppl here came to my rescue, installed the loader.sin and preset.ta from Blagus, fone came on, but yes the issue with sim was still there.
e
I saw a funny thing tho even without the sim, the phone on the status bar showed full signals but no sim was there..i laughed on it for a minute...
then....came back home, just did a factory reset after 30 mins after making the fone come back to life.
I will confirm the after method to unbrick radio very soon, i have messaged some of the radio bricked owners here(pm), waiting for them to /reply/try something depending on their fone's status, I just hope it works and when it does il make it official here.
**started this thread here, so if not now we can still try something to get it worked***
If you need tester I'm on and if you fix my phone I'll donate to you !
I've also try ervery possiblities, for now .... but the only one working is fastgsm method ...

Thankx for support, but i aint working here for donation, just trying to help, by the tweak that i found...
if all fails, im trying to lay hands on a sony tool that will work for sure, something on platform like fastgsm using credits, il share that with you all, so everyone can benefit...
**edit** I did not relock the bootloader until i got the radio working...
I can post a video of my phone..."working"....
Very willing to be ur tester as well. Just let me know wat to do.
I'll love to support you too.
Thanks to everyone who have been patient and tried all the methods i suggested, but it is strange howcome my fone get back to life while others cant.
Im gonna share some custom packages(to maybe 1-2 guys, i dont want others to fall into trouble by bricking their fone again) that i applied on bricked play before sending it to Sony Service centre which even they cudnt figure out and return the phone unrepaired, now i did the same on play what i suggested most of you on PM's and got my fone back..
here's what my device now shows.
I haven't given up, so i will keep trying as u all are....

flashing differnt system images doesnt brake your radio permanent. Just flash a FULL rom and you should be good again.
Regards
where is the rom...
m facing the same issue...network bars full with out the sim...no damn roms available...
hey guys
any new for us poor guys with plays but with broken radios?
Steps for unbricking:
step 1: brick phone via unlocked bootloader and root then OTA update.
step 2: phone won't boot (black screen) put phone into recovery (hold back button, plug in USB, see green light)
step 3: flash blagus' relock bootloader script
step 4: flash generic UK firmware (not sure if it has to be this one, pretty sure it can be anything)
step 5: boot phone and setup... everything is working now.
Not sure if this was common knowledge, but its how I got my phone fixed.

Is the UK firmware generic to the point where if I were to root a Xplay bought from HongKong and root it with the UK firmware, everything will still work?
The generic firmware should work for R800i and R800a models.

well thats cool if that does the trick for u
but i THINK my prob is different
i was once stuck with a bricked phone but then there was a way to get the phone to boot up but without radio function eg making fone calls
and i have been stuck in this state for over 2 months now and so have a few other people,
i think your situation may be different because your phone was just bricked and didnt have the radio function broken via the quick fix method.
things are abit different now and if i would of bricked my fone now there are ways to unbrick it with out breaking the radio.
unless someone has tried this method and it has worked? (who has broken radio like me)
Oooh ok, yes the circumstances are very different. Mine was a total writeoff and I didn't quick fix it.
If I ever get into that position and work it out, I'll report back.

[How-to] Repair Damaged Bootloader + Trim Area [Red Led][Unknown Device]

Hello again
Sometimes we can brick our devices by a bad unlock, flashing process, or simply bad luck.
The phone doesn't turn on and there is a Red Led Of Death when pressing power button. Even with a GREEN led when we plug the phone with back key pressed the computer detect the phone as "unknown device" so there is no chance to get fixed by Flashtool or SEUS/PC Companion.
Well this problem normally means that the bootloader is broken or damaged. So, in order to fix it we need to write a new SEMCboot and after this we were able to flash a full and fresh firmware with flashtool and unbrick our Xperia.
This process like unlocking process requires SETool dongle/box and a paperclip to make a testpoint to put the phone in flash mode and be able to write the SEMCBoot.
I can help to anyone with a bricked Xperia Arc/Play/Neo/Pro just make send me a PM.
Like unlocking process you will need this 3 programs:
SETool software for unlocking
USB Over network client for remote dongle
Teamviewer client for remote support and guide
anyway if you want me to buy a Dr. Pepper just
Sometimes even after fix the bootloader the phone doesn't want to boot. In most cases this is by a damaged TRIM AREA (TA).
The trim area is a part of softwere stored in eeprom so it can be read and write with the proper software like SETool.
Read and Write trim area is very easy but you should know that some sectors of the TA are unique for you phone, lets call it Security Units.
The process for repair trim area is indeed very easy.
For sure we need Testpoint like in unlocking or bootloader repair process.
1. Backup Security Units with this script:
Code:
taread:00020851
taread:000207D3
taread:000207Da
2. Write a Working TA backup from another phone (same model)
3. Restore Security Units.
Thats all, now your phone should boot well but is 90% possible that you dont get Signal so for fix that we need to unlocking.
If this last thing is needed you can refer to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232033

Thanks Alejandrissimo!!
Alejandrissimo is the best!!
Two weeks ago, I tried to flash cyanogenmod7, but I'm a n00b, so ofcourse it went wrong. My device(Arc) wouldn't boot anymore, I tried some things and suddenly it even wouldn't connect with fastboot..
So I saw this topic and some other ones from Alejandrissimo, Many comments praising him for his patience and help, that's why I contacted him, and that evening he helped me getting my phone working! He really Knowles where he is talking about!
Only problem I had left was NO SIGNAL, I asked Alejandrissimo if he could help me with that and yes he said he could. For almost a whole week, oh well. Much time difference, so it was hard to catch eachother we tried flashing it again and again in different ways. Yesterday he thought he had the answer, we tried it, and it worked!! I'm so happy he helped me getting my phone back! So so many thanks again Alejandrissimo!!
In order to unlock my trim area for my SIM I had to pay 24USD, cause Alejandrissimo had to buy credits at Sony Ericsson, but it was totally worth it!
Sent from my WORKING LT15i using xda premium
happened to me this morning but with a lot of luck i managed to get the phone in the flashboot mode (with a lot of tries connecting to PC) and install the stock FW (as i read FW is light on the boot loader)and tried to boot (with a lot of tries) i got it boot once but stops after Xperia screen i tried and tried until it booted normally i want to get back to the custom ROM but afraid that problem accrued again.
NOTE:last night tried to install True licensed market to get paid apps for free the phone heated and heated i uninstalled it and connected the phone to the laptop to charge overnight.
check your gtalk @Alejandrissimo. i've just send you invitation
i need your help for giving my mini pro back, now its on the dead of red led :crying:
Hi people. Because of work and children I have no much time to visit every thread on xda or check all PM, but you can always can contact me to gmail or hangouts.

[Help] Bricked Xperia X10 I mean Really Bricked

Hey guys i've a problem with my x10
So one night i was playing with it than the other day the phone would start
so i thought yeah right might be the battery or something. i took it to my friends x10 it was with 87% charged so i exclude this
Than i tried to flash with flashtool a new kernel and i get stuck at 9% or 15% depending on the kernel i use.
With SEUS it starts to repair but it says. No new updates avaiable after a few moments.
Some information regarding my phone
Unlocked Bootloader
FXP KERNEL
MM TEAM MIUI V4
The phone vibrate but doesn't start or load the kernel.
What do i do?!
Srry for my bad english
Thx in advance
Usrle flashtool to reflash kernel or firmware.
already did but i get stuck at 9% or 15% flashing the kernel
I'm downloading a full generic rom x10a
having similar problem
Hi, I had similar problem as well
X10i running FXP CM7 suddenly just wont boot n charge after I turn off the phone
it wont boot after flashing anything (firm or kernel) except the official firm
now that I end up with a cap R bootloader but flashtool claim that bootloader is rooted
do I still keep the bootloader unlock?
i guess you have a locked bootloader since the original firmware is loading just fine even tho rooting has nothing to do with the bootloader it self. i'm only guessing.
I'm stuck at. Flashing Loader
I bricked my phone last week and it got stuck in a boot loop.
I downloaded the x10a generic Stock ROM and flashed it via Flashtool and it worked like a charm.
Hope this helps.

same problem repeat
Hi, just confirm that the bootloader remain unlock as long as the flashtool claim its ROOTED
had you try other than official 2.3.3 ftf?
because I just got the same unable to boot problem repeated again
this time cant get boot on even stock 2.3.3 firm
but I was able to boot up and charge on 2.1, then get root, recovery and kernel (w/o unlock bootloader again) and go straight to custom ROM with no problem

you said your phone is "bricked"
I'm not sure if you know what that means.
If you say you've bricked your phone then no one can help you.
A brick is a brick. It doesn't matter if it weighs a few kgs or a few hundred grams. A brick can't receive phone calls.
And your phone isn't even a normal brick... You wrote that it's "really bricked"
Are you building a house anytime soon?

The red led blinking rapidly three times means the battery is "out of juice".
I've said it earlier: Several X10 devices have reached an age, where battery failures are fairly common due to charge cycles and/or age. Specially if one got it just after the launch.
Anyhow, what you can do, is let the device charge "blindly" for a while, and a while I mean for half an hour to a few hours. Then it should, out of the blue, jump into "active" charging (With the battery screen showing offline charging)
If this doesn't happen you might have to charge the battery externally.
...or even replace the battery.
-"Why?", one might ask.
Reason is that the flash mode only works with a charged battery.
If it empty, it won't engage the flash mode at all. Stupid design, yes, but that is how it is.
Worst thing is, that the battery does deplete/discharge while in flashing mode. That is why it's so important it's fully charged and fully working, before one engages in flashing activities.
See this post for more information about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642154

Well, if the battery issue was fixed, and you're sure the battery is fully charged, then try this: (Quoting from my other post)
I've charged/replaced the battery, and are having trouble with starting up. Earlier flash failed. Now what?
Don't worry. It's pretty darn hard to truly brick this device. Even if the screen remains black, there's still hope.
Once that the battery issue has been dealt with, you can move on:
Download the latest Flashtool and the proper global firmware (FTF-file) for your device from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=flashtool
1: Extract/Install the Flashtool to a folder of your liking.
2: Copy the ftf-file to the "firmware" folder in the Flashtool folder you just created above.
3: Start Flashtool. Click the Bolt icon (flash). A Window appear. There, choose "flashmode". Cllick OK.
4: A new window appears. In the list on the left, choose the Generic firmware you downloaded and copied into the "firmware" folder. Should have a similar name as the file itself. (Or manually open the ftf-file from the "..." icon on the top right.)
5: Hit "OK. Follow the instructions you get on the screen:
1 - Unplug the device.
2 - Power off the device. (Unplug and replug the battery to be sure it really off, and not stuck in black screen)
3 - Press the "back" putton, and hold it down while performing the next task.
4 - Plug the device into the computers USB.

Hi @almomdegal,
if you try flash using another full charge batt n its not work, I think this forum is no longer works for u anymore.
I own a faulty X10 as well, random shut down (no warning at all) then wont boot n charge
reflash it, revive for few days and dead again, and reflash....
now it is really dead, no problem appears and it show flash successful and it just wont boot or charge but vibrate non stop
I just send the phone to service center and the board need to be replace
so its time to send to the real professional to solve it, coz this problem ain't software downloaded from internet can solve anymore

[Q] SGP311 won't boot properly

Hi everyone - I'm having problems getting my device to turn on properly, and I can't seem to find a solution anywhere. I bought the SGP311, and everything was going great with it until like 2 weeks ago when it just wouldn't turn on properly. The red light on the side next to the power button was on, and I had to mess with the buttons in different combinations (I think while the device was plugged in) in order to get it to turn on properly. It was not out of charge or low on charge at this point, and I had never tried to alter the device in any way prior to this.
I encountered the same problem yesterday where the device wouldn't turn on, and I couldn't get it to turn on no matter what I tried. I thought that it might be a problem with the OS, so I used FlashTool to install a custom FTF file (a Japanese one), and it wouldn't boot up after. I plugged it directly into a power source (not through my computer), and eventually the device turned on and I was able to go through setup, etc.
The OS had a lot of Japanese text, even though I had selected English, so I thought I'd wipe the tablet and update the OS using the Sony Update Service tool, which successfully detected the device and did a factory reset and software update after I put the device in flash mode. The app then told me to unplug the tablet and power it on, but nothing happens when I hold the power button down.
Here's what happens when I try to do different button combinations:
With the device plugged into the power (ie into the wall):
The red light comes on and stays on.
If I hold the power button only for a few seconds and then let go, nothing happens (red light stays on).
Hold up on the volume and hold power, the white light flashes once and then nothing happens (red light is off and stays off).
Hold up on volume and wait for the 3 white light flashes then let go gives me back the right light, which then stays on.
When the device is unplugged:
the red light remains on.
Holding the power button doesn't do anything (red light remains on).
Holding volume up and power causes the white light to blink once and then the red light turns off (as before).
Holding volume up and waiting for the three white flashes does not return the red light (unlike before), but then plugging the device back into the wall makes the red light return.
When the device is plugged into my laptop:
Red light comes on and remains on.
Holding up and power causes the white light to flash once and then the device actually booted, and I went through the setup (but it was still in Japanese, for some reason). When I power off the device, I am unable to power it back on by holding the power button. I am unable to turn it back on after by using the method (holding the volume up and pressing power when plugged into my computer). It just stays off.
Holding power up for long enough to cause the 3 white blinks returns me to the red light.
My device is charged through all of this (>80%), so I don't think it's a battery thing, but boot up can't just be happening randomly. When the device actually does turn on, everything functions normally. It's only when it's turned off that I can't get it back on without dumb luck each and every time.
Has anyone encountered anything like this? It's really driving me nuts. Please let me know if I need to clarify things more. I could really use help on this because I don't think I possess the cranial capacity to solve this on my own.
Thanks!
I almost bricked my device and I was having exactly the same problem as you are. So I thought I'd share my solution with you.
To fix it try this:
1. Download Emma (Sony's own flash tool program).
2. Press and hold Volume up and Power button while the device is off... wait for the first white light AND the 3 white lights.
3. Hold the Volume down button while plugging the device into the computer (this should boot flashmode and Emma should detect the device)
4. On Emma it should detect the device and start downloading the latest version of android (4.2.2 - the file should be about 800mb). Once it has downloaded click on 'Apply Service'.
5. Let the installation finish (this may take a few minutes)
6. Turn on the device and it should be back in english with the latest Android version! Enjoy
One thing to note: The battery may start high and seem to discharge very quickly at first - this should settle when it hits the actual power left in the battery. (Mine was at 95% and falling about 10% per minute until it hit 30%!)
Thanks for your reply! Were you having the same problem with it not turning on?
Emma always tells me that it's detecting a locked device, and it won't do anything with it. I'm scared of unlocking it in case I have to bring it to Sony to have it repaired.

Yes I was having the same problem. My device didn't even get detected by my computer either! If you haven't done anything with the device, the best option is to send it back to Sony... They should replace it if it's not been rooted or unlocked.
With my case though, I couldn't do that so I just used Emma As long as you follow the instructions on the Sony development site properly, unlocking it shouldn't do any harm (although it will void your warranty) and Emma will be able to flash the device easily. Also you can relock the device after - which means if the problem happens again in the future, you can just take it to Sony.
It really depends on which you are prepared to do... Wait a while for Sony to send a replacement... or attempt to fix it yourself! One thing I'm not sure about... you mentioned that you flashed the Japanese FTF version onto your device? Sony might get a bit funny about that...
It was Sony's software that flashed the Japanese software to my tablet after I selected a factory reset and software update. It even asks me if I want to use my phone or some such, so I'm wondering if it was flashes with the Xperia Z phone OS? Would you know where I can get a stock US firmware?
There might have been something weird set on the tablet initially, but I'm not sure. Maybe I downloaded the software from a Japanese site?
I'm sorry I can't offer any help, but I can offer some advice for others who may be reading this tale of disaster....
- if your newly bought device goes wrong, take it back.
- if you are going to unlock your bootloader, you will need an unlock code from Sony. Some people say once this is given you have lost your warranty anyway (you will have provided your device details to Sony to get the code)
- if you unlock your bootloader without backing up the TA partition you will lose data such as DRM keys which are unique to your device and you will not be able to restore your device to its original state, even if you re-lock the bootloader. Sony will see this.

Well the answer seems simple... just take it back to Sony! If you haven't unlocked the bootloader you should be fine to get a replacement.

In your first post you state " so I used FlashTool to install a custom FTF file (a Japanese one), ".
Now you are saying "It was Sony's software that flashed the Japanese software to my tablet"
Anyway, best of luck to you:fingers-crossed:
Could you let us know if Sony exchange it for you, I'd like to know

Oh yeah so I did install a Japanese FTF file myself, but then when I tried to use the Sony Update Service it reinstalled the Japanese version and updated it to 4.2.2. It seems to have updated it to the Xperia Z (phone) software though because it asks me if I want to power off or use the phone at the beginning. Do you know if it's possible to flash back to US? I've tried US FTFs with flashtool and it always comes up as Japanese whenever the device bothers to boot up. Emma says it has a Japanese filesystem.
I spoke to a lady on the phone today and she said that I am still under warranty as long as I didn't try to root or unlock it, which I never did for either. She raised a question about the Japanese system though saying that I would have had to have rooted the device to install a Japanese version (which is untrue), but I told her I never rooted anything. Anyway she's sending an RMA package. I would still like to set it back to US (even a previous android version) if anyone knows how I can accomplish this. Again, all the US ones I've tried keep me at the Japanese version.
Thanks!

If you haven't rooted or unlocked the device and they said they'll replace it... I wouldn't bother trying to get back to the US version. Just send it off as soon as possible before you get tempted to try and 'fix' it yourself
Just as a followup: Sony replaced the device with a SGP312. I have no idea what was wrong my original one, but it must have been pretty severe.
I removed the rear cover with a little heat and done a battery pull. Works perfectly now

You are not alone.
The question is if you have warranty or not?
Because if yes, that play dump in Sony Service Center.
Otherwise you will need to open your device.
Solution is not ready yet, I am working on it.
I am waiting for new battery(I damaged mine), after that I will continue experiments.
Stay in touch in this tread, it's for Z1, but they have hell a lot of bricks.

If you got a red blinking led or no led at all, then they will change a motherboard.
Even if you got unlocked bootloader.
Just go to Sony and tell then something like " The Sony software asked for update, and after that my device died"
Remember not to use words such "Root" or "firmware"
Just play noob.
Just make sure phone is completely dead
My situation is worse, my phone is from Singapore so, no warranty for me.

Which ftf did you flash?
What parts of the ftf did you flash (or exclude)?
What exactly are the symptoms?
What was the battery state when you started the flash?
What firmware did you start on?
What dos the LED do when the phone is on charge?
Does the PC make any sound or say anything when the phone is connected?
What does flashtool say when the ultra is connected?

I got your PM... I'm hoping that you were using the latest version of Flashtool. As that could be the bugger!
Using the previous version has been bricking devices flashing .290. Not sure about .132 but im betting it does too...
Check if you had the latest version.... if not then your are currently screwed!
If it was the latest, then I'm sure it can be resolved.
Note: opening your device rips some adhesive tape inside it. So then technicians know that you've been inside your device... and hence warranty void!

This is mostly for @hamdogg regarding the above
One thing I have noticed and has been mentioned in the Z1 forum is that flashing .290 ftf often dropped the battery by huge amounts, I have seen 40% or more, and then very fast charging - looks like calibration is right out of whack.
Yesterday when flashing to play with root (I flashed .136 mayby 6 - 8 or more times) I never saw a battery drop/jump outside of the few % I would expect from a full flash.
This leads me to believe that there was something very wrong in .290

Yeah good points. When piecing together the ROM tree for doggROM (still not 100%, but its up; need to work on the kernel image) I noticed quite a few added lib files. There are a few changes that we probably wont see for a while.
I also flashed dogg and stock FTF probably about 10 times yesterday. went from 60-30-odd %... not bad for constant use for 3 hours and then flashing different ROM's..

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I continuously flashed or 2-3 hours first flashed .532 to gain root ,then flashed.290 couple of times, and then.136 .
Flashing .290 always lead to drop in % around 40.But after flashing .532 over .290 lead to battery percentage rise. Also flashing .136 or .532 had percentage dropped by 5-6 only.
Now am on .136 and charged it and charging was way faster than before.
Wanted to know did it anyhow damaged the battery considering the faster charging?
Or it will be normal after a while?

What firmware were you updating from?
Did you use latest Flashtool?
Most importantly, did you flash the 136 kernel but not the 136 bootbundle?
Im asking because if answer yes to the last question, the brick bug hasn't been fixed.

anyway did you just leave it as all defaults when you flashed?

battery was way above 80%
I didn't exclude any part
the pc connects and disconnect and many times doesn't even detect it
flashtool doesn't detect it
flashtool version 0.9.11.0
I used the earlier 14.1.B.1.526 GENERIC Taiwan http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439438

ok, that is a different link than in your first post, but atleast we know what you were flashing.
What firmware were you on before the flash?
I have a feeling the issue might be with the old version of flashtool. I have used that version before without issues, and also that FTF without issues.
I think it might be bricked, but there may still be hope.
Upgrade flashtool to at least 0.9.13.0
Reboot the computer
Reinstall drivers
If you hold the volume + and plug in the phone to the PC do you get any lights on the Ultra?
How about if you hold the volume - and plug in the phone to the PC doe the leds flash then go out?
do the above two while the new flashtool is running and post it's output if you can.
I'll be away fron a PC for most of the next 30+ hours but hopefully @hamdogg, @LordManhattan, @zeppelinrox will have some more hints
Oh it's likely due to the old Flashtool version.
9.13 was giving an error (at bootbundle phase) to one guy so he tried 9.11
Bricked it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2624641
9.11 and newest ftfs don't go well together but I don't know exactly why.
Does 9.11 not flash the bootbundle?
@Androxyde would have the best guess as to what goes wrong with 9.11
But my guess is that you ended up with a 526 bootbundle with the 136 kernel and if so, that means the brick bug hasn't been fixed.

Yep they will.
It got bricked while updating to latest Sony release.
Just get an RMA from Sony support.
First they'll give you instructions on how to reset the phone with PCC.
Then you say "hello... I can't get into flash mode..."
Need an RMA and BTW, there's over a hundred reported bricks plus god knows how many more
