Err_name_not_resolved - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys after I installed stock lollipop I can't access few pages like forum.xda-developers.com and gsmarena.com.
It shows that something to do with my dns serve.
If anyone came across or knows what's up please collaborate with this matter.

I have the exact same problem. I can access the main xda site, but not the forum. Can't access the forum through the xda app or tapatalk either. If I put data saver mode on in chrome, then it works through chrome at least. If I make my phone into a hotspot, other devices that connect to it also can't access xda forums. Tried this with 2g, 3g and wifi, none work. Everything is normal on my laptop and tablet using the same wifi.
Only thing I can think of is that I flashed the modem of kitkat because I have thr d6502, which model is your phone?

Oh wow so you're encountering the problem too. I'm using D6633.

I thought it was fixed, but after reboot, same issue. It seems as if quickly at boot if I try to access the forum, it works. If I wait for a few minutes, it doesn't work. Very weird.

I have this issue too with my Z3 Compact / 5.02
Only solution is to insert the IP to /system/etc/hosts ("207.244.72.9 forum.xda-developers.com").
Because I tried several DNS Server without success. This is strange.

This problem also happened to me (Xperia Z3)!
I have fixed the problem only flashing .FTF again (full data wipe)
factory reset via recovery not solved!
Edit:
the problem appears after that I restore my DRM keys using this method [EXRxYKG]DRM FUNCTION RESTORATION FOR UB DEVICE

If you unlocked the bootloader there is an app that prevents you from posting screenshots or even installing benchmark applications. If you have functional root try to delete PrototypeProtection. The app has a list of apps and sites that are banned, for example this forum, GSM arena and Antutu

It seems the issue is also on the Z3, my device had this problem.
I uninstalled PrototypeProtection with titanium backup and all works!
Just asking what exactly does Prototype Protection do, does it just block access to the apps and websites, does it do anything else?
Also, is it an app installed by the DRM Restore zip? If so, why did they bundle it?

Prototype Protection comes in all Sony phones, the DRM restore zip doesn't install it and it just blocks apps and websites.

I don't know, something is making the prototype protection kick in. It is a system app, the DRM restore zip doesn't include anything more.

Judging by the name of the app and the comments in this thread, i'm guessing it's there to stop users going to a prototype / display phone for example, rooting it and upload stuff from the phone.
I would like a technical explanation too, maybe someone can decompile that apk and analyze what it does exactly?

[APP] Updated TrackID : Major UI change [ICS style] No More DRM [lock/unlock bl]

All credits go to lastword112 who figured out the way to get the new update from the Market. Thanks a lot for the original thread.
Now, I give you the bare apk file, install as a normal application.
DOWNLOAD - mirror
* It can also be installed along with the older version that came with the phone, it will not replace it. It works for devices with unlocked bootloaders too.
If you prefer to get the app yourself, directly from the Market, you need to install the app Market Access
(unless you live in Sweden, in which case, this thread is not that useful to you to begin with )
Launch Market Access and set custom country code: 24003.
Then open Market and search for "trackid".
ENJOY!!!

She has already uploaded the apk!! Well you need root access, then download something like market enabler, use 24003 in the set custom option. You can Chrome to phone this link to your device and open it via market. :Market Link for TrackID™

There is some problem with the service, sometimes there are errors, try again after a couple of minutes, like i said there are still bugs that need to be fixed.

Moved it to /system/app, renamed it to trackid.apk, but still no luck with FB Likes.
So, not working for unlocked bootloaders.
EDIT: However, you can like from the TrackID app itself after it successfully recognizes the song.
hope to like music on default music player for the next update. thanks
Facebook Likes stop working after bootloader unlock permanently, nothing you can do about it.

[VZW] Stock Rooted Odex/Deodex

Disclaimer: Flash this ROM at your own risk. I am not responsible for what you do on your device. I left this stock to provide a base for anybody that wants to use it. Mod this rom how you want. Just please remember to give credit where credit is due.
This is a pure stock rooted rom. It has items like busybox, init.d support, unsecure boot.img and so forth. No apps were added or removed. Both Odexed and Deodexed versions below.
This is using stock unmodified zImage from HTC. Kernel source can be grabbed from HTCDev when they decide to release it
Downloads
Thanks to rhcp for the dump and testing
Move along from this post (not thread) people, nothing to see here.
Vinchenzop said:
Here is a unsecured version of the boot.img I made. Either flash via fastboot, put into the rom.zip from above, or someone can make a flashable zip for it.
This kernel is unsecure for root, and adb superuser permissions (being able to mount system r/w via adb).
Again, it's only the boot.img, not a flashable zip.

"some kind of root app"
Step one to working towards a solution is to desceibe the issue in as much detail as possible. This would include the applications name that broke your tablet as well as the make and model of tablet you have. And whatever (if any) additional tweaks or mods it might have. Also, anything you have already tried to fix it.
This does not include screaming at it or asking it to "please fix itself"

App name: ROEHSOFT ram expander
Tablet: Nova Dream(not widely known so you might not know it)
No tweaks no mods
Problem: the entire line cannot be touched, making it hard for me to type the letter 'o', 'k' and other parallel letters on the keyboard.
BTW, the unresponsive part of my tablet is the entire lane between the two dots.

I cannot uninstall system apps even after I ROOTED my android phone

Hi everyone
I managed to root my android phone yesterday (I checked with 2 root-checker apps). Now I'm having trouble removing pre-installed apps like Twitter and Yellow Pages which I never use. I tried few uninstall apps, and after granting them permission from SuperUS, they perform an uninstall (some apps do it forcefully) and give a message that the apps were deleted. The apps are not removed from my application list but when I click on it to run, they give an error message. But when I restart my phone, those apps I deleted start working again as if nothing happened.
What I'm I doing wrong? My phone is HTC One M8, android.
Thank you for any help

I check to see if it's listed on my home page, and it is although when I click on it, it gives an error message. However after restarting the phone, twitter somehow recovers and works again!!! Really strange. It's as if it wasn't uninstalled to begin with.

You need to remove read / write protection. You can do this most easily by flashing a modded kernel (boot.img) through fastboot. Alternatively, there's custom roms that have this already or you can mod a kernel module. There's a guide in the General section of your phone's forum. If you go that route, make sure that the module is compatible with the update you're on as the guide might be outdated.

There are many reasons why this message appears on your screen when you try to download an application.
The file might have downloaded incompletely
The application may not be compatible with the hardware or your operating system
This is because of a security setting
The APK may be a corrupted file

An APK gets installed by Android's PM ( read: Package Manager ) what is part of ROM. OK.
Personally don't think in actual case the ROM is the culprit: Try installing the APK in question by means of AURORA Store to see whether it's Google Play that works wrong or not.
Hint: Instead of shooting in the dark, get the reason ( for example INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES ) for the mentioned error by installing the APK in question via ADB.
Code:
adb install -r APK_FILE
Note this command utilizes internally PM.
Also a look inside Android's logcat may help. But this requires device is rooted.
You can try reflashing stock rom.. head over to XDA thread..

This is the problem. It is not letting us install any app. We have tried many apps made in 2012 itself. The tablet lags just way too much so it will be a mess to try to install via an ADB. Can't we just flash some other rom to make it atleast usable?
