Hello,
I just got my new ubuntu phone BQ Aquaris 4.5. So far, the only missing app is whatspp. But we can live without it
On the other hand, i would like to know if we can create a wireless spot with this phone so to share the 3G connection with my lapotp on the go.
Thank you!
I received my Aquaris phone yesterday. I also couldn't figure out how to activate a mobile hotspot.
At this moment is not possible trough gui... Not sure if there is cli there for...

Hi!
I live in a college now, and I have just wired lan on my laptop. But you know that Hero really needs wifi, or at least internet. So I wanted to make an ad-hoc wifi spot on my laptop (ubuntu 10.4) and share it with the Hero. I crashed my ubuntu twice tring different techniques of creating a hotspot. But now I think that the problem is with my mobile. So...I searched a lot for this topic, but no good answers. So my question is: Is it possible to share my linux's internet with my pda using wifi or usb or not? And if yes please give me a link or a guide how to do it.
Thx for your time!
Tom
I'm not sure about creating hotspot things but you should find apps that let you do it using your usb, google reverse tether

My apologies if this is the wrong area to post. I'm not sure where else to look but Google has not helpful. I have a Droid Razr running rooted 2.3.6 verizon version 6.12.173. I rooted using motofail, quick and simple root. Issue is I cant use wifi tether. I've tried 3 different programs and when I try to connect my computers to the wifi, I'm unable to pull an ip, on my ipad, a friends iphone, my mac book, my win 7 laptop and my win 7 desktop with a wireless usb adapter. Same on all 3 programs, using authentication or not. Good ole 169 ip.. cant get out. HOWEVER if I connect my ipad via bluetooth to my Razr I can surf. Not using the Bluetooth option in the wifi tether apps, but tuning on bluetooth on my phone and my ipad, pairing then connecting and then I'm able to surf. I mean thats cool and all, but its slow, real slow, extremely slow. How can I get my wifi tether to work? Any suggestions? Thanks
Go to droidrazrroot.com there is how to video that is perfect.

Have you tried Foxfi from the market? It's free and it works great on my stock unrooted CDMA RAZR.

Hi everyone,
I would like to know if there is an android app or any other methods or fixes or any ways to be able to make calls like a phone from a 3g unlocked dongle on a tablet pc that supports usb 3g dongles like there is software for pc's such as mobile partner? If there isnt can anyone one of you advanced android programmers create such an app or fix? The 3g dongle already supports call making and sms sending features. I have scoured the net for a solution but to no avail. I think this one is for the advanced xda developers. Thanks in advance and take good care.
Come on people!!! Somone must have an idea on this?
Bump!
Still no luck?

It has been more than two years since this post. Still no luck with such an app that allows calling through a usb dongle?
sry i know that threat is old.. but are some one know is there any way to use 3g dongle to use it to calling on my android device
lol to this day there is no software or fixes for 3g/4g dongles except ONLY ONE....... heres a thought though! there are new mobile sim calling devices being manufactured these days where you insert the mobile sim card into the device which has a telephone and a keypad and you can make calls, perhaps its because of this reason there are no softwares, SOME SORT OF BLACKLISTING. to allow sales.
the android app you need is called PPP Widget. theres an old version and a version 2 try them both.

Hi there!
I pump an ad-hoc WiFi signal from my office PC's network adapter, which works fine with my other devices. I would like to connect my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 to this hotspot but as we all know there is no native ad-hoc support.
What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? An app similar to the WiFi manager on the Archos 101?
My phone is rooted, rom Beans 4.1.2, unlocked bootloader, w/ Perseus kernel
And I realize this question has been asked before but so far I have not searched up the right answer, plus I can't freakin' post anywhere before I get to 10 posts lol. Long time visitor but now that I actually own my own Android device rather than just working on others, I figured I'd finally make an account.
Thanks in advance for the help
3rd Party Temp Workaround
Hey Guys,
So no responses eh? Anyway obviously I wasn't about to give up on my searching, but so far I have only had success with Connectify.
Its a third party application that shares your wired internet connection with your wifi adapter and pumps the signal. Basically it does exactly what ad-hoc is for but it can be seen by Android devices.
I am using the Lite version not the Pro and it has been working fine. But don't get me wrong I STILL WANT TO ENABLE AD-HOC. I am still searching for a way to do this but in the meantime I figured I'd post this info in case anybody else is still trying to do this as I am. I Googled earlier and the second listing that came up was this Q&A thread I posted, so I figured if somebody else Googled the same thing and came to this thread I didn't want them to leave empty-handed.
So if anybody has any info on how to make ad-hoc networks visible on the Note 2 please let me know, but until then using Connectify can have you set up and saving 4G data in a few minutes.
I can't speak to using this on the note, but I used adhoc switcher from the play store on an early lenovo tablet that for some reason could only tether to a phone as adhoc. The app had a ton of settings so I am betting you could make it work in this situation.

Hello,
I'm kinda new here but I have some problems with my nexus 4
I used MultiRom to install Ubuntu Touch on my nexus so I wouldn't loose my android (still need some things from there but I'm realy looking forward to make Ubuntu Touch my main OS) but I can't connect to my cellular network. I've read that I needed to remove my pincode from my simcard, so I did that but that didn't change a thing.
Can anybody give me some insights on how I could get it to work ?

Ditto. I did the same as you, and no Carrier and no WiFi with Ubuntu Touch on my N4.
