Received my Moto E LTE 2015 yesterday. I can't get the trusted locations to work under smart lock. When I bring up the display, I always have to enter my security code. The phone has "home" set up properly and my GPS and WiFi are working.
Is anyone else having this problem and/or how do I fix it?
Update: My solution was to use the Gravity Box module in Xposed and use wifi for this. This was the way the home unlock module worked on kitkat. I like this better than using GPS - should use less battery.
I have the xt1527 as well and had a similar issue. I found that it worked about half the time, so I ended up just disabling the feature. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.
Many people are having this problem. See the Motorola thread. Right now, the fix is to add a new place as close as possible to your home, and it then will decide to work. It seems this is a general Android 5 issue rather than a specific problem with the Moto E.
You can always just turn off location services. That worked for me haha

I just got my wife and myself the S4, our first Samsung phones. Everything seems to be great, except GPS and navigation. I am hoping I am missing something simple. I did not see this issue discussed in the S4 forums here, actually there was one about just how good GPS is with this phone. Anyhow my problem, GPS rarely locks in when I start navigation using Google maps. It will accurately show my present location, I am assuming it is using the wireless network to show that. But 90% of the times I use navigation, it will not lock at all. I have found that if I go into settings and uncheck the stand alone GPS services box, then recheck it I will get immediate GPS lock and can navigate. Then the very next time I need to use navigation, same thing, no GPS lock. I downloaded the GPS status app and same thing there, will not lock on a single satellite, I do my uncheck/recheck thing, and instantly I have many many locked satellites. Anything I am missing in settings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fred
I have the same issue.
Works fine for me on stock. I get almost instant GPS lock outdoors. I did have some issues on some ROMs, but I think that was ROM specific, because flashing back to my backup of stock fixed it.
Well I am trying to contact Samsung support. See what sort of run around they can give me.

I had this problem on the GS3...not sure about the S4 yet. Anyway, I found that turning on GPS only when I needed it and turning it off when I didn't made it work correctly. Obviously this isn't ideal but the GPS was 100% using it that way.
I may have found a fix. I tweeted with Samsung support today. They had me boot up in safe mode. In safe mode it only boots up stock apps, nothing that has been downloaded. Well my GPS worked just fine. So it would seem to indicate one of the apps I downloaded was the cause. So I rebooted and began to uninstall any app I had installed. Every two apps I would check the map, still no GPS lock. I had to uninstall every app I installed. Once they were all off the phone, my GPS once again worked perfectly. So I began to re-install the apps one by one, checking the map each time. It kept working. Eventually I had re-installed every app I just took off. GPS, maps and navigation still working perfectly. My wife's S4 had the same issues, so I uninstalled everything, re-installed it, and her GPS works as well. We decided to run some errands and used the navigation for each stop, worked perfectly.
Don't ask me why, I have no clue, but so far my phone is fixed. Will report back if anything changes.
Oh, and if you want to boot up in safe mode and don't know how, power off your phone. Power it back on, when the first loading screen comes up, press the down volume key until the phone reboots. It will be in safe mode. It will be indicated as such in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.
I hope this helps others and is a permanent fix.
GPS not locking, possible solution.
Ok, well I think I have my problem narrowed down to one app. After deleting and re-installing all my apps GPS worked just fine. This morning I opened up Yahoo Weather for the first time since re-installing. Knowing it used GPS location I checked navigation right after. Sure enough I had lost my GPS functionality. Uninstalled the app, all GPS services came back. Check the same issue with my wife's S4, same results.
I am not saying this is the only app causing issues, but seems to be on my phone. Without the Yahoo weather app, all is good. Which is a shame because I really liked the app.

I confirm removing Yahoo weather fixes the issue. Thanks a lot for this solution.
Good, I am glad it help. Not sure if it will help or not, but I did send an email to yahoo support. I am hoping maybe they can come up with an update that will fix the issue.
An easier way of going into safe mode is holding the power button, then when the shutdown menu pops up, hold down the power off button. Might be a little easier

I've been beating myself up over this. I haven't had the phone a week and thought my GPS was shot. I know this is an old thread, but it fixed me. Thanks again. Darn Yahoo Weather!
Are there still problems with this? The app received an update on august 15th.
I've tried turning on the GPS and Google Maps works ok for now.
Hi everyone,
Last week, I updated my G3 to Lollipop. Ever since then, I have been unable to recieve app notifications when I am on wifi. When I turn off Wifi and use a regular signal, the notifications work fine. They also work fine when I have my phone in airplane mode, with wifi on. But, when I have wifi and the data signal on, they do not work. Ii have already done a factory reset to my phone once, and it has not resolved the issue. Is this a known bug? If so, is there a fix in place? If anyone knows, I'd appreciate any info, as this is becoming quite frustrating.
Matt
This is the dreaded WiFi Sync bug, It doesn't affect all WiFi spots. It just depends on the router you are connected to. It mainly stems from IPV6 issues. There is a fix in the works for the official OTA or you can root, and apply a fix for it. I believe Jasmine ROM has the fix in it, but I cannot say for sure as I do not run custom ROMS. I stick with stock.
This has only really affected me with GMail syncing with a 3rd party app at home. At work, I have no issues.
So, you can either root, flash the fix (search the forums and you'll find the issue) or you can wait until LG/Verizon release the patch for this, or go back to KK.
Hello,
I get a GPS fix within 10 seconds. But with Maps, however, the signal jumps back and forth. Also, the signal does not show exactly the location, or a few meters away. These problems are probably also known to the UMI users. Somehow I have read what of MTK tools, where this problem can be fixed. Can someone post a tutorial, or link?
Thx.
Hi, looking forward to fix the same issue... Any news?

Gday mate,
I was having similar issues with my GPS jumping to the street next to me whilst driving and getting itself all turned around. The other issue I had was bluetooth would not connecting to my car, so I tried a few things on this list: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/fix-nougat-bluetooth-issues/
Specifically what seemed to fix my bluetooth AND GPS was this: (I also set the passcode on the car to '0000')
"This is a really good fix, confirmed to work by many people. To reset your Bluetooth settings, fire up the Settings app, and locate and tap on Backup & reset option. Now, touch ‘Network settings reset’, and then ‘Reset settings’. Confirm this on next screen. Note: This will reset all your settings related to WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile data. Keep that in mind. If you need WiFi urgently, then better do this later on."
The above made my GPS a bit more stable. Since then I have updated the device to the latest beta: PLUS.V3.02_20170208_c239v55_kw_u3_no-DB and GPS is working perfect now. Link from bencebacsi on UMi Forum: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hh1069alx7v8i6i/PLUS.V3.02_20170208_c239v55_kw_u3_no-DB.rar
Best of luck mate!

It's not usable for this problem.
I tested Faster GPS after rooted, MTK tools, Engineering Mode, and another more tools and tricks, and nothing helped me with better gps signal on my UMI plus.
In enginneering mode I deleted data from hot, cold, warm and full gps start without A-GPS started, A set position from detected position, download new satellites positions, then start A-GPS and it was same how before. GPS signal on Mediatek chipset is bad.
Sometimes I have fixed 12 satellites, another time zero satellites. Gps signal jumping from zero to good in the car, or outdoor.
I've followed the GPS fix guide by djelloul on the elephone forum, which in short does rebuild the internal GPS chip data with a new geographical reference point. That seemed to have worked for a while. But only temporarily. Again the GPS in the P9000 has become useless!
On a 300 mile journey, 70% of the time Google Maps in a state of "searching for GPS"
Any suggestions to get a more permanent fix?
ROM: 20170112
This has been a kinda ongoing thing with the P9000, my GPS has always kinda been temperamental. I've tried many fixes both from here and the Elephone forum, different ROMs, I havent tried to opening the phone up fix but have tried the software fixes (btw if you haven't tried the Elephone Forum fix by djelloul see this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-11201-1-1.html#.WKoUuvmLSUk )
I have used the GPS Status & Toolbox, used the MTK Toolbox to reset compass & applied the available fixes, but although they work initially.. its tends to be a temporary fix only. I have always had the GPS Status & Toolbox installed since I bought my p9000 back in April 2016, as it did seem to improve it slightly. although I still used to get "searching for GPS" just as you get and it was a constant irritation.
As I use GPS daily in my work, I was at the point (as much as I love my P9000 so much) buying a OnePlus3T
I must add that I did change to the 7 Nougat Beta very recently and have no idea why, but now for the first time my GPS works great (and without GPS ToolBox) so I'm kinda waiting for release of the stable nougat and fingers crossed it remains working as it is now on my Beta, failing that I guess I may have to move to the OnePlus
wait until 7.0 maybe they fix GPS
I have S9+ 965U1. Is anybody having issues with Smart Lock not keeping phone unlocked via location? When i add location, it shows the correct location via the GPS, correct home address. I've also manually added neighbors on all sides of me and it still rarely works. Same issue at work. I've been on every firmware available and its the same. Sometimes it works, maybe 10-20% of the time. My S8+ was just the opposite, it worked 80-90% of the time. I've done the figure 8 GPS calibration but that doesn't seem to help. Wondering if this is a common issue or if i should send it to Samsung. It would be nice if they gave the option to stay unlocked when connected via certain WiFi networks.
Trusted Location has never worked reliably on any Android phone I've used. That said, the "When At Home" routine in the "Routines" app that works with Good Lock 2018 does indeed work reliably.

Thank you I'll give that a try. I like the fact I can use wifi to unlock with it. Looks like a pretty robust program. I'll enjoy getting to know it. Hope it's not a resource or battery hog. Thanks again.
I still have my s8 and it's working almost every time with smart lock location. It most definitely works waaaay better than my S9. S7 I don't recall these issues either, it pretty much worked a high majority of the time like the 8. GPS hasn't given me any problems when navigating with maps on the 9. But smart lock location works 2 out of 10 times through many hours but never more than 4 when you have to use code or other. Maybe I'll send it in. I have the 8 to use while it's gone.

In Trusted Places click Home - from Google Maps - Turn off this place. Everything is OK right now. In all locations, incl. the car remains unlocked. I'm guessing this about Google's location error, as weather reports, for example, that I live on two streets next to the map, and the point is right on the map.

For me good lock routines (sep. 2018) does not work properly when I use action "unlock". I noticed that somehow my fingerprint stopped working and did not wake my phone when placing my finger. It got unlocked but I had to wake with home key... Maybe fixed with next version.
Went back to Google Smart lock and I have to say that it is now working really fine. Use this feature since my S6 where it was unreliable
