My KF HDX7 has just updated to firmware 13.4.1.1 !!! Can I now root the Kindle? If not, is it possible to roll back the firmware to enable me to root it? Many thanks for any help/advice.

Not sure what has happened now !! But my KF HDX7 has just updated to firmware OS 4.5.3 (26th March 2015). My question now is can I root the Kindle with THIS firmware or, again, must I (can I?) roll back the firmware to allow me to root the Kindle? Again, thanks for help/advice.

4.5.3 isn't rootable, so you'll still have to rollback. You can either stay on 13.3.2.8, or manually update to 4.5.2 after.

Don't forget to block OTA once you get to your desired level (even if 3.2.8 etc supposedly never auto updates; block on your device to make sure).

[Q] Possible to unlock bootloader for HDX version 4.5.3?

Hi, is it possible to unlock the bootloader and/or root the Kindle Fire HDX (7") on software version 4.5.3?
If it is possible, how would I go about doing it?
Thanks.
No. You need to be on x.3.2.3 or below.

Unfortunately, that's not possible either.

No. You need to downgrade to x.3.2.8 (which wipes all user data in the process) and then manually update to 4.5.2 for root.

[H] How to root Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 14.3.2.8?

Towelroot doesn't work, anyone know how?
You could always use Kingroot or Kingmaster - very useful tool and can root almost any device, anyway its chinese and you need to find the english version. In this thread the OP stated that he could root using Towelroot on 3.2.8 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/success-downgrading-t3047619 )

Assuming you used Kingroot. Perhaps the easiest approach is to use Super-SUme (must purchase the pro version; $4 USD) to fully remove Kinguser and subsequently install SuperSU. You can then remove root from within SuperSU. Seems a bit circuitous but SuperSU is arguably the best/easiest way to unroot an Android device that can not be refreshed by other means. Kingroot/Kinguser offers no way to remove itself and reportedly blocks attempts to uninstall.

Root on Fire HD 6 running 5.3.1.1?

Hello XDA!
I was just wondering if there was a root available yet for the Fire HD 6 running Fire OS 5.3.1.1. I have tried to sideload 5.3.1 onto it, but the BIN file I downloaded from rootjunkys did not work (as it is designed for the Fire 5th gen) and I cannot find a 5.3.1 firmware image for the Fire 4th gen. If there is either of those two things in existence (either root for 5.3.1.1 or a firmware image for the HD 6), it would greatly help me if I could use those. Thank you!

I don't think it's possible yet to root 5.3.1.1 directly, but I did it by following the tutorial here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950
to downgrade to 4.5.3, root, and then get back to 5.3.1.1 with Gapps and Xposed.

I might try it; I just don't want to brick my Fire. I might have to wait for Kingroot to *finally* develop a root for it. Thank you!

So I can root 5.3.1.1 indirectly by rooting 4.5.3 and upgrading again? Interesting

Exactly! You just got to make sure that it does not update you while you are rooting 4.5.3. Once rooted, do a factory reset ASAP.

I was under the impression that any update would undo the root. I suppose I will have to try this out this weekend. Thank you very much!

Downgrade from Fire OS 4.5.5.2 to 3.2.8 (Thor)

Hello! I saw this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/help/how-to-install-cm-12-1-fire-hdx-7-t3205865 and I decided to go through with it. Anyway, I downloaded Fire OS 3.2.8 from the google drive link, put it in my internal storage folder and tried to update. I pressed the update button on my kindle, but I get an error that says:
Update Not Completed
Unable to complete update because the update file is not valid.
Please try downloading the file again.
this comes up after saying "Validating update file" for about a minute.. I did try downloading the file again, and it still didn't work. I'm trying to download from yandisk instead of google this time, maybe it will work that way. Do any of you guys know why this wont work?
For clarification, I have:
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 3rd Generation 7" KFTHWI
EDIT:
Downloaded from Yandisk, still didn't work.
Its for 4.5.5 and not 4.5.5.2.
Root
hey, if you trying to root and unlock the bootloader, you can root 4.5.5.2 without rolling back as i did just today by using kingroot latest apk. It took around 6 to 8 tries but it did it. No need to roll back.

I also successfully did the same with 1 try.
Then I tried to install Xposed framework. But the Install button is greyed out. What should I do?
Which rom?

Lucky you, done with 1 try! Which android version you are using? As Xposed is not yet available for android 7.

Android KitKat fire os 4.5.5.2.
But I already unlock bootloader and flash Nexus KitKat ROM, so I think no need to install xposed framework unless I want to tweak more in the future!
