Does anyone have a leaked 5.0 build for our device...I am sure there must be one somewhere but Sprint keeps lying to me telling me that it is Samsung that is causing delays. I have called a few times with no info from them. They basically just search the web too and are not given insider info from developers.
Sprint has the lollipop build. They are in the middle of testing. You can look up the rdf which is the current builds. One wil be the final release.

But how do I get my hands on this since it is only internal right now? I would love to play with it and if there are bugs, just ODIN back to 4.4.4 and await them to fix the bugs. I am betting there are some problems or this would be out by now.
Unfortunately, I don't know where to get ahold of it. Someone with connections or ability to leak the latest build.

I spoke to techie guy in Oklahoma and he thinks all the devices (including ours) which are due to get Lollipop are due to complete by end of April. So that kind of means we should see our phones getting it perhaps in 2 weeks. I hate being patient but guess I will need to allow them little more time to test out the connectivity as Note 4 has a lot of wifi and cell tower problems (guessing it is a bug with newest radio/modem file). Anyhow....if you learn more at the store level...please post. THX

From what I can tell based on going to the main store in downtown Chicago yesterday, information about development is not shared with them. Basically they fix software or hardware depending on complexity. For example, the guy yesterday showed me a NOTE 4 that was broken which is being returned. He said it was due to the Lollipop update causing the connectivity issues to be very unstable (wifi or cellular). And he admitted it basically would not even boot. So my (un)educated guess is they have a few test versions but are scared to release due to it causing a connectivity issue. I wish there was some way to just get hold of it for us higher on the techie scale, and if it has bugs and does not work, I simply would ODIN back to NK4 and re-root it. I kinda doubt it would render my phone completely useless ...but then again never know. Since all 3 other major carriers are not having issues (other than it chewing up bandwidth on their networks -- file is 1.5GB) I do not see why we could not get the firmware and just skip the radio update they probably made.
Us techie guys can deal with the issues in the bugs here and there. The average Joes when they have no signal go what's going on. And they complain and say my phone is broken hence probably for the release not coming out.

But could they not in this day and age realize those of us out here like me and you that are very high on tech scale (say know basics of linux or how to root)....should that not be out there with a disclaimer...ok **** head....you break it too fuggin bad? I would rather they give it to us just like CM.
Ha ha I wish that is How it would be. By nope Sprint cards too much about appearances. Aka they dislike any negative stuff. Like most companies.
And yet Darklord can make a note 4 port that works great as a daily driver???!!!

That is based off of CM12 no? If it was based off Touchwiz/Stock and had all the features the Sprint official release would supposedly have.....I would be down to try it out. The problem I have with using a non-stock rom based on CM is simply that I have to flash and entire ROM again if I wish to update the PRL or Profile. I found no ROM in the list that allows us to do that from a non-stock ROM. If there was a small utility, I would be down for trying CM 12.1 so please update me if I have the wrong info. Thx.
----- PS I looked at the thread for Darklord 2.2 and see there are MANY signal issues and it does NOT have the System settings to do PRL or Profile update. Again, would be lovely if it was NOT sprint network and we could use this as you say as DD but according to what I saw, we cannot (a periodic reflash of a stock rom to update PRL would be required and that is not something I wish to do)
It has worked well for me with no signal issues, either 4g or 3g.

I know, but I am just hoping that Sprint will follow through on one of them. At least by default.
here is why I wouldn't believe this...(and I'm not flaming the poster here just pointing out some inconsistencies...)
1 - If it was actually done and what he said was true they would have released it as soon as it was officially DONE...for the same reasons he said it would be released on a friday...It's Late...Why delay till friday if it is complete?
2 - Sorint isn't the one actually working on this release...HTC is! All Sprint might do is integrate it into a ROM for their phones but HTC was the one actually working on the radio. Maybe the radio is done and Spint has it but again if they had it why wait till friday to release it?
Only reason to wait on a release is for testing purposes...
And if that is true then they could just as easily find a problem and delay again...
No matter what the truth is, It will be done when it's done! We have DCD's ROMs to work with for now. And even if Sprint does release Friday it will take a day or two before guys like DCD and No2Chem extract the stable radio in it and cook up some Roms for everyone else.
The only thing I know thats happening on Friday for Sprint is that my neighbor and good friend maybe out of a job, Sprint is going through a MASSIVE restructuring and layoff. His support area is going from 15 cell site techs to 7.... Sprints got real issues other than slow ROM updates

You'd be surprised. I used to work for a company (will let the company rename nameless) that did all the picturemail testing and QA for sprint phones and when we would get new firmware and everything was QAed and done and certified for release the firmware was not "immediately" released. They ALWAYS set a date a for real production but would have it in "production" for a week or so with the sprint people to make sure everything worked fine.
why dont they just mail the files to dcd or colonel and let them do it for em? seems like something would actually get done and done right.

I'll check with my friend who leaked me the early testing version with GPS and RevA
I'm sure he's reliable
I am just confused why the release will be Friday. Usually they release Monday just in case there are any issues they have tech support on hand M-F to fix the issues. I am talking even the basic issues with a good rom. Plus everyone knows the techs do not set the release data. Upper Management sets the release date once they feel like it is in control. Just my opinion.
they cant tech their way out of a wet paper sack anyway. the devs in here are far better support than any pin head at sprint will ever be. Ill wait for the xda gurus and the ppc guys (if they get their site working right) to put thier heads together and build a screamin rom for us all

Are you stupid or something? Do you really think any carrier makes thier own ROM? HTC does all of it, every little bit, and then carriers bug test and HTC sends them another. Why do people think carriers make phones or software? All they make is a network.

Oh no... and carefull tossing around accusations of "stupidity"... You've already touched upon testing, but also often either in house or contracted out development is done for carrier specific applications and configurations for the carriers' released ROMs.

Well my point was until their final testing is complete you can't really be sure they have a stable release at all...
they may have set Friday as the release date so they could test but that friday is just another deadline that could be missed if they find some issue between now and then...
So you can't really say it is READY unless you have already done all your testing and if you haven't then it is not actually ready yet...
In either case something said is not really fact! Either it was tested and ready so why not release...Or it is being tested until friday to see if it is good and therefore NOT READY yet...
Thats all I was trying to get across.

Do you really believe they would have released an update while the Rezound has been on sale from last week through today. The release of ICS would not have been done until the sale is over. Otherwise you would have had units being sent out without ICS from the early part of the sale and then sent some out at the end of the sale with ICS. It would have complicated everything, now the sale is over they can address thier attention to releasing ICS. Well at least I hope.
I don't think that Verizon promised this update on 4/6/2012. Wasn't this a Best Buy bogus post for both the Razr getting ICS on 4/4 and the Rezpund 4/6, neither of whaich was true. I have not read anywhere that Verizon published this release date for ICS for the Rezound.
It wasn't confirmed by anybody but a BB poster which had no evidence behind it anyway.

all speculation and rumors at this point. im telling you guys, i don't expect it until at least summer.
I honestly don't care anymore. I have fully working ICS on my Rezound. If they never officially released it, I wouldn't care much since I already have it. What would be nice however, is if they dropped the source code on us for the leaks that are already floating around.
I still don't understand the outrage that some people have over it. I mean, the people that care about it are here or on other sites that have info about rooting and development - so if you want ICS - go get it. The rest of the people - they probably don't care because they just want their device to work, and it does out of the box untouched. It works pretty darn well too.

Shame it's a good phone... I was going to pick up a Nexus til I started seeing the issues they were having. Couldn't be happier with my choice to get a Rezound instead.
this is so far my fav phone period but i honestly doubt vzw will ever bother pushing ics onto this thing. if they do though, it'll be in the distant future when ics becomes standard on most devices.
Why care about a bloated up release from VZW that has an older version of Sense? When there are several awesome Sense 4.0 roms that run smooth as butter available for us to flash. Get with the times brotha.
For those who may not have seen this, a Sprint VP yesterday put a date on when we might expect the *official* Sprint ICS update - and it will include Sense 3.6. In light of the VM woes, I for one will be in the "waiting for the official" camp. I apologize if this has been seen before - but to my knowledge this is the first *official* word on a release date from Sprint brass.
From the mouth of David Owens, a VP for the wireless provider, "the eagerly-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC EVO 3D is set to arrive sometime in June."

Believe me I noted the same thing... Dual core 1.2 to dual core 1.5 with a better screen... I'd bet the 3D is fixin to have its price slashed. But the fact that Sprint is, and has been, selling the 3D full-out for the past entire year as a flagship phone alongside the SII, nexus, and soon-to-be-released E4GLTE, I think Sprint knew it *had* to include the 3D in the upgrade - or the sales of the 3D would have petered out long ago... Just a guess.
I'll be in line for the E4GLTE once Sprint's network issues (3 months, and counting) in my area are rectified. GD "network vision." "Sprint - the Hopefully Next Month network"

Probably so. Everything to boost sales! But, peeps like us who try to be savvy with the phone rooting stuff tend to extend the lives of our phones way past what the tech moguls try to tell us they should be. It's marketing, I can see the angle. They don't want to tank potential sales of the new product by encouraging new customers to buy a cheaper phone capable of delivering nearly the same experience. So leave the new one on top long enough to get all the new customers to jump on, then start feeding the existing contract customers.
Now, I'm willing to expect the phone will never get an update, or at least take longer than it will to get me a new phone (Epic), but if they follow through with the ICS upgrade, that will make me a happy camper and tide me over until I'm ready and willing to renew my contract come November.
Figure that will also give enough time for tweaks to be made and bugs to be squished.
I *also* expect the upgrade to be delayed until the end of July

I hear ya. AT&T has the best selection as far as phones go (IMO). But I wonder, since VM is getting the 3VO, does this mean HTC will be obligated/choose to continue to release updates for it or will they not care as it's not an actual contract?

I've been using Boost Kingdom ROM. It's by far been very bug free (little stuff, but, still a daily driver). It's not based on any VM leaks. It's a fully functional port. I have 4G, 3D camera, Wifi tether, bluetooth, video recording, camera. I haven't found anything really borked on it. Plus, I reverted back to my 2.3 GB ROM with no issues when I needed to get something from the data.
It has HTC Sense 3.6 as well and it's the best Sense I've used yet. Very smooth.
I've been to AT&T, and they suck. I'm not too crazy about Sprint, however, to be honest, out of the phone companies I have dealt with or have family who has dealt with, Sprint has been the least hassle, even though their network is slow and their updates, too. I use way too much data to be limited to 2 GB per month. Scr3w that.

To be fair that technically wasn't an official update schedule. He said "the other devices" will get them in June, not the 3D specifically. Thread stays.

If u listen to his tone of voice and the way he said it, it sounded like he was just spitting any answer he could think of to shut the guy from Endgadget up as he was under pressure and now Sprint probably wishes he didn't do that. I too am with the idea of update in July or even ever for that matter. I mean do they really have to even give it to us in the 1st place? Most average users do not even know what ics is.

Have to agree. As much as we may not like it, they are one of the best carriers out right now imo.

Dude, when I came back to them after leaving AT&T (because they refused to honor my unlimited data plan. LOOOONG story), Sprint seriously effed my bill.
After three months of hassle and few credits, all was straight and good. The 4G network has more holes than Swiss cheese, but, there is a method I'm going to try to increase reception (some sort of setting to change using QPST or actual line codes, can't remember where I saw it yesterday). But, aside from all of that, my phone is pretty boss and does what I need it to do and I don't have to worry about data usage, and boy, can I use some data!!!!!!!
I still want a cleaned up version of their release of the ICS ROM, though. Until then, I am content with what I have.
EDIT: BTW, if you look at AT&T's pricing and Verizon's, they are considerably more expensive than Sprint's. With Sprint, my phone alone was $92 a month including taxes and an insurance plan. The same thing at AT&T with a 2GB plan instead of unlimited was starting at $110 or $115, something like that. This was a few months ago, could have changed by now, seeing how they change their minds more than they do their underwear.
Check the Xperia Z3v Android Development section for my contributions. I hope someone will join me in development!
Hopefully, thanks a million or billion since it's 2015, lol

Thank you, works-rooted-flashing pre rooted ftf
Flashing xposed from recovery works. Also no advanced calling I'm going to call verizon tomorrow because you can select it on our phones but it's n/a on my verizon BTW I think the option was there back in November when I bought this thing but they might be able to turn it on in tech support even though they are idiots. I will let you know thanks again.

Its likely the advanced calling is NA because lollipop is not officially live with verizon yet. If you call and can get it activated let us know but suspect it won't be available until LP is official.

Yea that's a no go with verizon I got an asshole on the phone but you guys are welcome to call verizon and feel stupid like me. I mean how much have they helped us so far-zero. I have been playing with the apps permissions (Ims presence)-advanced calling In lucky patcher with no success. And I'm not convinced lollipop will come out ever for the American Z3v.

What did you say over the phone?
And it seems like Lollipop official may be coming out next month since Sony Mobile YS updated their site to include the Z4v. I'm not entirely too impressed due to the fact battery life lessened to 22 hours of usage unlike the Z3v with 26 hours.

I said I got advanced calling on my phone and I'm not going to tell you how but is there a way u can flip on the switch he said no. I said can you tell someone to make it available in my verizon and I told him of the lies and lack of support for this phone he said I wish there was someone I could email... I said is there no verizon gods he said is there anything else I can help you with. I almost said **** you but I hung up. After these kind of conversation you realize they don't give a **** so don't hold your breath for a official verizon update for the Z3v.
great....
Or the first week of February. Maybe something that doesn't matter to a lot of us who already jumped onto the leaked Lollipop build I have to offer.
I know I haven't seen many of the users who posted here before because Verizon surely did rip us. Yesterday I've spent quite some time looking at the Droid Turbo 2, LG V10, Moto X Pure, and the Note 4/5 at Best Buy. Snappier UI experience, amazing cameras, and surely they all got the best support of today. I would only jump ship knowing if I could get all of those + waterproofing on Verizon and that's that.
I only hold thread on my phone definitely for most of those features on an Xperia that was a flagship of 2014. And there's also that contract too. If the bootloader was ever unlocked, I'm pretty sure our two developers on the phone could do much more. For the time being, I do try my best in enjoying the Z3v with what's in this showcasing attachment.
Pretty soon...
The factory version would need to have additional features that I *would* use before I go back to OTA. My phone is stable and I am happy.

Do you have a source of this and whether it is a newer build our not?

I don't know what it is with 5.0.2 but my experience with it compared to 4.4.4 has been awful. I haven't experienced as many app/phone crashes, freezes or instances of chrome running out of RAM for things like uploading a picture with rooted KK (if any) as I have with LP. It's so unstable for me.
Quite literally the only thing it has going for me is the Material design and even that I could work without if I let myself get used to Holo again. I'm hoping if VZW ever does come out with a more finalized build for its OTA that it doesn't crap all over itself like this build is on my phone.

With all this extra time they are taking and considering it is a stage fought patched internal release people have been testing it already is 1 step ahead of the other sony lollipop releases unless they are on 5.1.1 now. That's what verizon should be releasing to us. My HTC m8 was and still is stuck on 5.0.1 and that's a rough update

I took the chance with chatting with a Verizon representative and I was surprised he gave me an exact date for it. May be true or not, but it's something neat to tell others just in case.

You can tell the difference for sure just by opening the Recents menu on KK and LP. It opens up without lag on KK, but you can see a slight delay on LP.

Who knows, maybe? I wonder if someone questioned Sony whether or not they released an updated rom or patch for the Z3v against Stagefright.

I'm still on stock kitkat awaiting a final ota.. but with this delay there has to be a change from the internal release? How often are internal releases the final build for a ota update? What are the chances of marshmallow that sony is releasing for all their devices?

There's almost no chance at all Marshmallow is coming to our device. It's really sad to say even though we are the bridge between the Z2 and Z3, but we're locked within Verizon's boundaries.

It's someone random, but that doesn't necessarily determine if it's reliable or unreliable. It's already one year after the promised date range of when the Z3v was supposed to get the official Lollipop rom. Whatever comes now is just a worthwhile announcement. If we get it, we get it. If we don't, then oh well.
Oh man not another ota thread! No one believes these any more. Aren't you the one that said there was going to be one in November?

Maybe I did say it, or didn't. It could have been a lot of other people saying it as well. I just want to share hope far the antics go with what Verizon knows for what they think the OTA release dates are.
Even thinking the Z5 coming to Verizon was almost too good to be true, but I would like to have a nice upgrade to another flagship waterproof phone.
Be careful what you wish for with Sony devices. The Z2 I had with AT&T and Z3V on Verizon were solid devices, but the Z3 and Z3+ I've tried with T-Mobile both had reception issues. i.e. in fringe areas they would have no signal at all while other devices would have signal. I don't know what Sony has done with their newer devices but it really hasn't been an improvement.
Even my wife's Note 5 gets better reception than the Z3/Z3+

I can't help myself, it's just my nature. :good:
I have not seen any hint of an OTA for our phones and I do keep watching for one, I think another forum member said he has a inside tipster who will let them know if there is to be an update OTA coming.
Well I just called Verizon to see if they would give me information that is in any way similar to what you received. The tech told me that they are focusing on updates for their HTCs LGS and Samsungs. He said that even though we can activate Advanced calling on our accounts the phone still needs the 5.0 update to actually use it. I asked him for a time frame. He said that the manufacturer hasn't sent them the update yet and then when I told him the manufacturer saidit was to be out by the end of 2015 and that competitors already have updates for their phones he kind of glazed over it.
So the time frame he gave me was possibly around spring break or during the summer in which he also said that sony is working on a new phone which would be coming around by then on Verizon and that they might be waiting to make the new phone before they push that update. So the false hope can be put to rest. The lead OTA would probably be our only option for a while and he said that they might not have released an update because they are still fixing bugs. And for the tech to try to relate he said that he is still waiting on an update for his samsung galaxy note 4 for Advanced calling.
