Hello,
I have hotspot with T-Mobile. However, the limit is only 5GB. Is there anyway to bypass that?
Thanks,

I used to use an app called WiFi Tether Router, but since I upgraded to lollipop, I've lost root and can't use it.
Yeah use wifi teether router.
You need to setup a new apn and set it as ivp4
And just activate it. If you don't have the unlimited data plan it won't work. It uses your unlimited data as the wifi

I recently got a lapdock for Christmas. Is it possible to bypass the entitlement check so I may use mobile data with the lapdock? I do not have a tethering plan, and am aware that data overages can be expensive, and that I might get caught.
Wifi tethering works with my ROM, but not webtop tethering.
I am currently running Darkside 4.4
using the search feature is your friend.
I've been searching for at least a week. Care to link me to a relevant post instead of being a smart alec?

first off, not with that attitude.
second, a week? I just now searched for it. about... a minute at the most to scan through results.
happy hunting!
I already set entitlement_check to "disabled" with SQLite but it didn't work.
Anyone?

The entitlement check only works on the phone, not webtop. It seems that webtop will always display that message if WiFi is off. The only way I seem to get tethering to work from webtop is to turn on the hotspot (and since you've disabled entitlement check, it should work). Once hotspot is active, dismiss the account check message and everything should work.
Ive already tried that; the browser just says im disconnected from the internet and sends me to an error page. Am I SOL?

I confirm that turning on the hotpot, webtop can access internet with cellular data network.
On a related note, does hotspot with Entitlement check off not return data usage to AT&T? For example, if you are reaching your limit, could you turn on hotspot and be good?

I have an unrooted t-mobile galaxy s5. I just learned that I have a 5gb limit on the mobile hotspot, I upgraded to 9gb. However I wonder if there is a way to use the mobile hotspot feature without t-mobile tracking the data usage? I have done the user agent switcher which is apparently how t-mobile knows if you're using data on your phone or your desktop. But are there other more thorough ways of doing this? And what if I wanted to play xbox live for a bit? How could I do that without going over my 9gb limit?
Thanks.
This may be of some help:

I use WiFi Tether and a vpn.
As long as you have an Unlimited Data plan, you're good to go.
The hot spot data usage doesn't increase.
Regarding your user agent switcher method, make sure that the Hotspot usage isn't increasing.

For Xbox a vpn is needed. As you can't change the user agent.

I have a T-Mo unlimited plan, and I've tethered an ungodly amount of data with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
It's the only tether app that truly works for me, but you need root for it to work.
So i downloaded the appbut its still uses tmobiles hotspot not my unlimited data the websites tells me to go to tmobioe to add tethering plan.
Did you set the APN as per the instructions on the Google Play?
Hello everyone. I was finally able to root my H5X, and the first app I tried was WiFi Tether paid app. Everything checked out fine, but after enabling it, i still can't seem to find the network. Any ideas? Or has anybody tried yet and has success?

If you are on AT&T you may need to be rooted and delete a folder in system/app called ATTEntitle. It should fix Hotspot in 3rd party tether app or (Free) Native Android Hotspot in settings. If you are on another carrier I don't know. I have been trying to get none working for a while. See here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3307384
I'm on T-Mobile. I have the grandfathered $80 unlimited 4g LTE with 7gbs hotspot. And I'm rooted. Busybox installed.

I think you CAN use Native Android Hotspot in instead of 3rd party tether but you need to change your "tether APN" to default "internet APN."
Maybe this thread can help http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...lopment/unrestricted-tethering-n920t-t3188301 But if you Try this you will want to monitor your data usage on T-Mobile website (or however you keep track). You don't want to run out of "tether data" if you can prevent it.

I tried using native hotspot last night and it worked great. Streamed about 4 movies last night. Verified my T-Mobile account this morning and I can confirm that my wifi hotspot shows 7.9mb/7GBs.
This is what my account shows
Very nice, so just using the app alone has stopped the tethering number from climbing?
Hello I've tried modifying the build prop but Boost still sees my wifi hotspot usage, I'm on the unlimited plan but only allowed 8GB of tether. Also tried the app WiFi Tether Router but it doesn't send internet even tried it with developer's specific instructions. Is there a ROM for XT1526 that enables hotspot as if I'm using the phones internet as it says I have 99.99 GB on my Sprint account. I'm rooted with newest TWRP and I'm familiar with flashing.

I've been tethering a Boost ZTE N9835 with WiFi Tether Router App for several months. I also had it working on the Moto G. Certain phone's have different settings you've gotta change for it to work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
The xt1526 Boost Moto E LTE can be used for unlimited hotspot/tethering on most custom ROMs, so long as this line is present in build.prop:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
