Looong battery life - Samsung Gear Fit

I had an occasion to go to Cuba last week and since I didn't have phone connectivity I turned off Bluetooth. Would you believe using the Fit as a regular watch only used 50 percent of the battery for 7 days. Guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

Good to know. Did you still enable the wake-up gesture ?

No I didn't.

Decent but yep I guess it's not surprising. It's using a lot less power than it normally would. Thanks for posting

Questions for an att optimus g user

The optimus g will probably be my next phone and I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone could answer for me please
1.The last android phone I bought from att(like forever ago) was restricted to where I could not install apk files out of the box. I was wondering if you can install apps from apk files or if att restricted unknown sources.
2. Does usb otg work? It's not a big deal, but I'm still curious on the status of that?
3. How's the battery? I've seen a lot of different reviews with different battery lives.
4. Lastly, how do you like your optimus g?
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
1. yes it works no problem
3. so far battery pretty good
4. so far like it, just hoping for bootloader to be unlocked soon and hopefully CM10 comes to optimus
usb OTG should work for some peripherals... Not sure what the resistance is on this device so like a usb keyboard may not... Usually if MHL works OTG will with some tweaking.

my battery life is abismal, on my second handset. To be honest, the quad core really doesnt equate to much, a little snappier for the user, my s3 was fantastic on battery life, and the camera was better too. I really am not seeing this phone as an upgrade, the only reason i got this device is that it might possibly get a quicker port of the nexus 4 rom, and offer lte.
I just got a day out of mine with 3+ hours of screen time first charge. I know it won't always be that way but so far I'm happy with it. I too had a gs3 and I've noticed a big speed increase on thus phone. I think it was a good upgrade. Better screen as well.

My battery life is abysmal, also! Will probably swap for Note 2 this week! But can install from other sources without any issues.
Will say the screen & CPU are just awesome!
battery was crap for me the first two days. Today it has been good so far. Streaming audio off/on since 7am est.; still at 87%.
Point is that new batteries take time to condition. I'll withhold judgment for now.

LOL, I literally replaced an xperia x10 with a LGOG, last Friday. It's a HUGE jump in performance. First battery cycle was less than idea (~10 hrs of more than moderate use), but after, I turned off a few items that didn't need to be running (e.g., wifi) and set some reasonable parameters on sync frequency, I had 30% battery, last night, before going to bed, after 15 hrs of moderate use.
AT&T gives you 14 days to find out if you like it or not. It takes several charge discharge cycles to get the anode and cathode in the battery all excited and functioning at peak efficiency. You people that rage at poor battery after a couple of days drive me crazy.

Battery is non removable, so if you need a spare, you may need to wait for a charging case like they have for the iPhone.

I have progressed from an international s3 (i9300) to a Google Nexus (which I liked better even though no LTE, Google Wallet made up for that). I just replaced the Nexus, whose power button died, with the Optimus G. If I could get Google Wallet to work it would be the best of the three.
No one has mentioned the feel of the G versus the S3. It feels much more substantial and solid. The quad-core and LTE make it super fast.
Lastly, I am hoping that it will be easy to port the Nexus 4 ROM to the Optimus G leaving me with a Quad-core LTE Nexus 4.

It will depend on the kind of use that you give to the phone and how you administer the use of the Eco Mode, Bluetooth and GPS.
I have it with Facebook, Twitter, 2 Gmail accounts, 1 Exchange account, almost all Google apps installed, watch at least 3 youtube videos (during free time at the office), texting all day long, Twitter, 4g and LTE most of the day, Wifi at home, brightness in 60%, GPS off (Except for Ingress) and I have it in Eco Mode except when I'm playing. Power Saver active at 50% and all that give me from 6am to close to 9pm (depending on the day).
The main things that drains the battery on the device (by my experience) is:
- Brightness over 75%
- GPS
- Bluetooth is a killer
- Camera is another killer
all that without Eco Mode and you will eat the battery in less than 6 hours.
I got some NFC stickers for the house, office and car, helping me enable and disable features along the way during the day and it helps with the battery a lot (only have enabled what's necessary at the right place).
Hope it helps.

I too am leaning very heavily towards the LGOG versus the Nexus 4 (possibly even the HTC One X+). I'm coming from a Dell Streak whose battery has seen it's better days (about 4-5 hours on a full charge). I definitely know I'm in for a treat as far as performance goes no matter which way I go, but I'm wondering how long it will take to get a 4.2 port on the LGOG. As a non-dev, I'm totally clueless on the process, but my thinking is that there can't be many differences between the two.
My main questions is now that it looks like the LTE radio may actually work link for the N4, is the only difference going to be the sd slot? Granted that is a huge + in the OG column, but so is software updates for the N4 if it's going to be a difficult port. I know that this is a new phone and the bootloader was just unlocked, but realistically, what kind of updates from the dev community can we expect for this device?

Agreeing with this post. I have an Inspire 4g as well and my battery lasts for 2 days without charging, and it's the same battery I bought the phone with 3 years ago.
Stop asking about battery life and learn to condition it. You'll save a lot of money.
As far as I know, the LGOG is a FANTASTIC phone.

[Q] Battery Life

How many hours of battery life are you getting out of your galaxy note 2 ...Do you disable wifi at and data at night .Another question when I have wifi and data enabled I noticed that wifi overides data so does data do anything to the battery since wifi over rode it ..Im trying to find out wheather or not I should just disbale certian featured and have longer battery life or just purchase an extra battery and carry that around just in case I will admit one thing the battery on the note 2 is definitely good but I question when people say they get two days of battery how much usage and are they disabling wifi and data at night ? I want to get 8 hours of on screen time it seems like I might get 6 1/2 to 7 hours with a day and a half of usage but rarely two days unless im on the phone lightly like 2 hours a day maybe 3 depending on what app im using thats hogging battery life
Did you have a bad experience with a phone charger Bro? LOL
The more you disable the better but at what point does saving battery become more useful than using the phone.
I understand the obsession because I had it with my nexus so I'm not judging people that worry about it but I use this phone for work and fun with 6+ hours day screen on and I am loving that I only charge when I go to bed and don't have to worry about it again.
Mine lasts all day and I'm on it all the time. Either texting, listening to music, email ect. Maybe you have an app running it down prematurely?
I've also bought 3 extra batteries. Their so cheap. So I have one charged up and ready to go no matter what...LOL
No offence but these threads are so useless. Yesterday I got 5 hours screen time and only 11 hours. I average 7.5 hours and over 16 hours. So what's my point? it depends on location, what you're doing, what apps you have etc.
Finally you could have looked at the huge battery life thread or one of the 5 others.

Nope, don't need it. I went through the whole micromanaging battery with OG Evo and the Galaxy Nexus. You don't need to do any of that on this phone. It has what I call "second generation" LTE radios, they are much more power efficient, and management of wifi and other radios is also improved. I leave 4G, Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS and Google sync on all the time. Battery usage is consistently 10% per hour when screen is on, and 1% per hour when in standby connected to Wifi or good LTE signal, dropping to 1.25% in weaker signal areas. Voice uses about 1% per 5 minutes talk time.

How is your Battery Life? Please put in here

Post your battery information here.
after 3 days 15% at the end of the day.
roughly 3,5 days, running pedometer all the time and mostly sleep record as well
After two days I charge my Note 3 and at the same time charge the Fit.
At about 50 or 60 %
I haven't got specific numbers on this, sorry, but yesterday I left my Fit at home with almost a full charge and when I returned 2 hours later the screen was on with a notification, which probably happened when my phone was within range. The odd thing is my battery was at 35%. It makes me think that either having BT on or something else drained the battery. Other than that one instance battery has been great.
From my Galaxy Note 2
charging Fit every 2 days with no problem making it that long. my N3 battery however was getting crushed by Fit Manager until i updated my N3 to KitKat and i got my battery back and resources in battery usage went from 30% to 15% so KitKat greatly helped my N3 battery when using Fit.
Gear fit battery lasts 3.5 days with normal usage without auto screen on. What I am more concerned is the battery of my S4. I have days when I have it drained before evening...I don't know if Bluetooth or Gear manager eats it faster.

on my Verizon N3 on 4.3 i had the same problem. i would go to bed before Fit Manager at around 30% almost every night and Fit Manager brought me down to needing to plug it in before bed. i upgraded to 4.4.2 and now it is back to a manageable battery usage again.

Same here.
using stock S5.
I'm getting 4-5 days, typically 5 actually, but I turned off all wallpaper, all notifications (except texts, phone calls and alarms), and set it to leave the screen blank except for the notifications I allowed. I last charged it up just about 48 hours ago and it has 65% charge remaining now. So it's using about 18% - 20% a day.
I don't know about you guys but I don't really care about pretty wallpaper or about seeing every bit of spam email I get. I just want the important alerts like calls and texts. Turning all this sh.., uh, stuff off doubles the battery life. Honestly I don't even use it for a watch, I have a box full of mid tier luxury watches and it would be a shame to not wear them. I just want the Gear "Fit" to do the "Fit" part mostly.
Mine usually lasts about 4-5 days. It has about 10 apps pushing notifications and a black wallpaper (I'm just using the standard clock). I'm pretty happy with the battery.
Picked up my new Fit on Tuesday night charged it and this is now Saturday night with 33% left. Using for notifications except email, pedometer on, sleep function every night. Auto screen turned off. Very pleased much better overall than my Gear 1.
You can refer to thisthread for a more detailed battery life explanation. I usually get about 5-6 days per charge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709343

So Disappointed With The Nexus 10

The battery on my Nexus 10 just lasts 2 hours then dies instantly without warning. It also suffers from on average 3 random reboots a day or almost a hundred random reboots a month and the screen has a yellow tinge so that white appears yellow and the brightness changes little from min to max. It is out of warranty so I'm just going to scrap it.
I've owned two other tablets made by Samsung and had no problems with them at all and I'll be returning to Samsung after this bad experience with Google.
I think regardless of Google, the tablet is still made by Samsung. There will be defective units. Mine is as new as day one and doesn't have those issues. It's all relative.

I"ve been on stock firmware from new, but the random reboots and battery problems started immediately after I upgraded to KitKat.
I've just noticed the yellow tinge after I inherited my wife's Nexus 10 after she bought a Galaxy tab S 8.4 and she has had no problems with her Nexus 10 that we bought together on release and I've scrapped mine.
I may have just been unlucky, but so have many others judging by the number of people Googling for help with the same problems.
That's weird, my N10 usually gets 3 days of battery with 5-6 hours of screen on time.

I agree, you may have just gotten a bad one. I bought one for me and one for my mother when they first came out and neither of us has had any trouble with battery life, reboots or the display. Mine is also rooted and I use it for email, web browsing and video and get several days without recharging, but I also switch between the N10, N4 and a PC. She plays lots of games on hers all day long and I think she can make it through the entire day and it's the only device she uses.
Yup, it appears you've got a defective unit, especially if a full wipe and stock flashing doesn't fix it.
Sounds really strange. I never had such problems with my N10. With Omnirom I always have about 6 hours of display on times.
I've had two N10s. The first one had the EXACT issues you are describing and I returned it for another. This one lasts for days with roughly 5-6hrs screen on time. (Disclosure: during the workday I have WiFi off)
Check your better stats. Maybe you have a rogue app that is hogging the CPU.

No issues that I have had and I have used it for almost a year. 6P is clearer in phone calls on both ends (what I hear and what the other person hears). I may have to root the 6P as the only downside I see to the phone vs the 6 Plus is battery life.
Nexus 6P gets me about 4 hours SOT and the 6 Plus is over 6 hours SOT. I have killed the Nexus before the end of a day but I have not been able to kill the 6 Plus in a day.

That's awesome! Any special things you are doing? I don't have rogue apps running as I don't use Facebook or similar apps.
I do however have location on, Bluetooth, etc. always on. My highest uses are typically Chrome Beta and screen. I have my screen set to about 20% with adaptive brightness off as it seems to be kind of wonky. I tried Lux for a little while but that also seemed to be too aggressive when switching between areas of varying light.
From today:
I use the regular Chrome and have disabled and removed some stuff I don´t need ( eg. Google+ ). I don´t need Facebook. I also use a lower brightness since about 20% seems to be enough most the time. I have a rooted device with Adblockers and use LMT instead of the onscreen buttons too

That is a special piece of hardware to get 7 hours of SOT.

I used to spend more time here on XDA back when the Swap Shop was still around and I was rooting my phone. The phones out now are good enough and I got tired of continually changing things on my phone.
I am going back and forth between the 6P and 6 Plus right now with a 6s Plus arriving Monday to possibly replace the 6 Plus. If no then I can sell it and try something else.
It's a great time for smartphones as there are so many good options.

In the battery stats usage and standby are listed from the last full charge. I charge my phones in the evening.
While it is not likely apples to apples with my Nexus 6P I do know how I use my phones as I set them up the same way and use the the same way as I don't buy a smartphone to shut things off.
I leave pretty much everything on when I use a phone and the 6 Plus is much better for my use than my 6P.

I've done it before, it's certainly not easy, but just because it's difficult to do doesn't mean you don't use your phone... I had my phone on for days without a charge and most of the time I spent with the screen on was browsing and playing games and I barely got over 3 hours... Not even close to the 7 hours you suggest one would get if they don't use their phone lol.

Right, this is why I asked. I own both a 6p and a 6s+. The two metrics are nowhere near comparable. For instance, streaming music on the iPhone counts as usage time, but would not count as screen on time on Android. If the iPhone usage time was actually screen on time, the number would be a lot smaller. While I agree that the battery life on the iPhone is better in some instances, your comparison of usage time to screen on time is somewhat invalid.
