Hi Guys,
I installed my first custom rom yesterday for my S3 but I would like to replace some of the ICS apps with the stock S3 applications (contact, sms & camera).
Is there anyway to get these apps onto a custom rom?
Thanks
I don't think it is impossible, but I do know that they contain code that relies on TouchWiz, and thus it would be hard to make them run without installing the whole TouchWiz system (and I'm not sure if that is possible on a custom ROM).
CUSTOM as in what custom custom stock custom AOKP CM9 Custom
custom ASOP etc .

The stock sms, camera and contacts applications that get shipped with the S3 out of the box
Read my question as to what type of custom rom .
Short answer depends on what type of custom rom .
Custom Samsung build roms answer is yes .
Other custom builds depends upon what they are built on but mainly no .
There are many roms built on a number of different base firmware .
AOKP ASOP MIU stock Samsung the firmware not the customization .

In the past, I have installed Siyah kernel alongside AOSP ROM on my S3 and found that after that my MHL link would not work. I think it's just because of the ROM. I have a new S3 now, fully stock and the MHL works fine. My query is whether it was just the ROM that stopped it working as I want to OC my processor so was going to reinstall the kernel, and will happily keep the stock TouchWiz ROM if it means I can still connect it to my TV.
It's just the tw base you need so custom stock roms are good for this.
On a Custom aokp/cm/aosp rom it won't work.
Install siyah on the rom you have now as it will still work with this kernel.
Can someone explain to me why AOSP and stock kernels (like Samsung stock kernels for example) only work on whatever type of ROM they're compiled for?
Also, why are most CM kernels still stuck on 3.0.64 when the official Linux kernel is on 3.11/3.12 now?
I am using xperia Z2 for 2 months and there is a lot of problem and dislikes in stock rom. So i want to use a custom rom. Unlocked bootloader and rooted. I am looking for a good non stock base rom. Posibley AOSP rom, because i want to use gravitybox features ( and xposed). Also it should be kitkat, many xposed modules is not working in LP. Many KK project has been stopped long time a go because of LP . So is there any suggestion for a stable, fast and battery friendly rom???
Strange as it be
Latest LP version + latest xposed version
Its faster than before and the new alpha 4 xposed works with xperias
And i havent found a rom that beats stock battery life.
If any rom id use CM12.1 or stock
I live in the Philippines and I have a local device here which is MyPhone 32L. It has a chipset of MT6592 and kernel of 3.10.72. The problem is, MyPhone didn't release anything but we're able to have a flashable stockrom using TWRP. We can't run any custom roms except CM 12.1 based roms and other 5.1 custom roms. :crying: :crying: :crying:
Can anyone build a custom kernel for our device that can be able to run 6.+ roms or 7.+ roms? Please? Or anyone can explain me other way to run higher version of custom roms. Thank you very much!
