Alternative way to record videos on Lollipo roms - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm using on my Galaxys S2 Lollipop roms and, everybody know, recording videos is not a solved issue right now.
I've tried an alternative way to do that in a not orthodox or direct way but is sure it works without blocks, lags etc...
I used a combination of camera & SCR apps:
open camera and set video feature (you can leave on photos feat. but viewfinder is recorded too) then open on it, scr app and start to record. Simply shuting down the screen you can stop recording.
I know is not the better way to record but if you have problem in the right way it could be useful.

[Q] Video recording with screen turned off?

Hello!
Is there a way to record videos with the screen turned off? I frequently record longer videos and that would save a lot of juice...
I have tried the various spy camera like apps, but none of them makes high quality recordings (although some of them can record HD it is of very low quality).
The only feature I need is to be able to turn off the screen after starting the recording in the stock camera app.
Is it possible?
No.
The only current way is 3rd party apps, as you mention. I guess you're stuck with the best of them, for now.
I use videoreg from the market to record my car journeys in case of an accident and to laugh at the stupid things people do
this has third party support for the samsung hi def codecs and can record in background, with the screen off.

Interesting. I use AutoGuard but will give this a try too. LOVE AutoGuard!
I tried videoreg - does not record anything on my device!? Which video settings do you use?

it pretty much just worked, AAC audio, 1280x720 (although 1080p works too) H.264 and mpeg4. Make sure to turn on extended camera controls and manual bitrate.
After a reboot it now works as it should (before it stopped the recording right after I pressed the rec button and did not save anything) - the quality is really perfect!! Thanks a lot! (Although I still prefer to use the stock app - in case somebody has a solution for that please post it...)
I've recently published app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lofatsoftware.hvc which records video in background... also then screen is turned off.
I've tried it on 6 different devices and quality of video is exactly the same as when recording via android stock camera application.
I would be grateful for feedback if my app works for you.
Best reagrds,

[Q] Instagram Video Crashes

Hi,
I currently have Liquidsmooth http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039995&highlight=liquidsmooth ROM flashed on my Galaxy S3.
Instagram Video app always seems to crash and restart my phone every time I try to exit out of the video recording mode. Another problem with it is that when I film record and stop and record again, the image distorts and the colours become inverted.
Another problem arises in Snapchat app where it simply restarts my phone, if I try and go back to record a video.
Have you looked around for users with similar problems?
I got the same problem. Note1

[Q] Snapchat video recording time not working properply

After searching for a while it seems few people have shared my problem but none really found a solution.
I'm on a Galaxy S3 i9300 running the latest stable build of SlimKat (which is AOSP based) and it appears snapchat videos only record for a second or so before stopping. According to what I read i recognized the problem as a memory problem, snapchat has a maximum memory capacity for video and for some reason on AOSP based ROMs it reaches that maximum too early. I confirmed this because I saw that when Video Quality is set on "Low" it does record the full 10 seconds (although in messed up proportions which is why I don't want to use it) and if I put the Video Mode on regular and put my thumb on the camera it records 10 seconds of black, and if I suddenly remove the finger it ends because of the memory maximum.
How can I fix this problem? I really like vanilla android and I don't want to move to Samsung based ROMs for something like this. Please help

That's my problem too =/
Same and my front facing recording is being inverted like right is shown as left ??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Had a dream about this... Try going to camera app and go to video setting, in the recording setting change the video to a lower one. Mine was at 1080p and when I changed it to 720p it started working amazing. Try setting it lower if that doesn't work for you. Mine was only recording for 1 second and would stop, after this I can record the full length allowed now. Let us know if this works for you

Screen Recorder that Doesn't Lock FPS to 60?

I have been looking for a screen recorder that can not only record internal audio (even for some apps that don't natively support it like the built-in Samsung screen recorder) but would also not cap my frame rate at what is apparently 60 FPS but looks more like 48 FPS. I am not sure why recording with the built-in recorder is so choppy when all it should be doing is recording at 60 FPS. I understand that recording at 120 FPS is kind of unreasonable for a mobile device, even one of this caliber, and that is not what I am asking for. All I want is to be able to screen record 60 FPS videos while having the smoothness and responsiveness of the 120hz display. I could just use the built-in one, but with that FPS cap, it makes anything I attempt to record feel choppy and makes the tablet feel not as responsive.
The one app I tried that seem to fit the bill was this, but trying to record with internal audio enabled just crashes the app. This is also probably because of Android 12. A lot of other apps either try to lock internal recording behind a paywall or do not record the inernal audio at all for some apps (but it would record just fine with the built-in samsung recorder).
I am using a rooted Tab S7+ with Android 12, but I could flash Android 11 on it (for better compatibility with more apps). I sadly cannot flash Android 10 since I have a U2 bootloader, and all Android 10 firmware for the S7+ are for U1 bootloaders (as far as I know). From what I've heard, downgrading bootloaders is not possible. ;-;
Now, with all of that being said, if any of you have any recommendations for screen recorders that allow you to use the 120hz display while recording internal audio, or have any fixes or workarounds for the official Samsung screen recorder, please let me know. This is one of the very few issues I have with the Tab S7+, and for all I know, there is a solution for it, I just do not know it yet.

I tried using this one but it doesn't seem to record the internal audio for the games I wish to record audio in. Do you know of any workarounds or something I can do with root to be able to do this?

This is doesnt seem to work either. The plugin app requests root permission and asks me to reboot, but when I do, the option never enables. The internal audio option by itself also doesn't seem to work.
Have you oneplus?
Look this feature.
I sent screen recorder clip to you.
Oneplus has very good screen recorder.
You can change microphone sound and frame 60+ and definition and record from front camera and record system sound and show touches and video coding format and is an open source app.
Only oneplus phone, can download this app.
I can edit manifest and java (dex) to work on all Android phones.

Question Best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro?

Hello guys, what is the best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro? If there is one, where can I download it? Thank you in advance
FYI I tested a lot of GCams 8.8.224 (the latest version as of now) and the only cam that doesn't crash is the Shamim SGCAM_8.8.224.10_STABLE_V9FIX. I will keep it becauseyesterday I was at a live concert and the stock camera microphone is a total mess (every video that I made has the audio extremely distorted, while the instagram camera doesn't have this problem, but the video are ****ty).
There are a few problems tho:
1- it is extremely slow when you click every button
2- without touching any settings, pictures and videos are worst than the stock camera
Let me know if that version works for you, and if so, which setting do you use to improve the camera quality!

Tried what you recommended but that gcam had too many problem. 4k 60fps recording just hangs never actually enabling. I'm satisfied with the camera, just wasn't happy with the speed it takes photos.

Have you tried to record a concert with the stock camera? You would get a super distorted audio (with every other camera app i don't have this problem). For now I keep it just to record live concert, but I know it has a lot of problems unfortunately

I don't go to concerts lol. Everything I've filmed has been fine on my end audio wise, I work in a relatively loud environment and the mic holds up about as well as any other phone.
