[Q] Launcher 8 install question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm would like to install Launcher 8 by Timo Kujala on my cell phone and it was recently removed from google play. I found the apk on a few sites and after it installs it I get 'Download failed because the resources could not be found'.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working?

Can still be downloaded in the official thread. The development stopped april 2013. I had good experiences with Launcher 8 by Xinyi Network.

I downloaded it and installed it and am getting the can't find resources when it goes to run. Seems like it is trying to download something and can't.
Any ideas on what the issue is?
I tried the one by Xinyi, and I prefer the one by Timo. Thanks for pointing that out and for the help!

Yes, that is/was correct...
Hmm, now I have different results.
Before I would download it and it would install just fine and when I ran it it went to a black screen where it tried to download resource files and failed with this message: 'Download failed because the resources could not be found'
Now I get a There is a problem parsing the package error. I check security for installing unknown sources and it is turned on.
This is more interesting by the minute.
Appreciate the help...

Best suggestion is to use another launcher. Its for a reason that it has been abandoned.

[Q] Download Error

Hey Guys and respected devs,
I have been using my Nook Tablet 16GB(rooted stock) without a problem since january. I have some games, apps etc and so far i have been perfectly happy with it.
Then recently i was browsing the net using opera and came across a video i wished to download. And until then i had no trouble downloading anything videos, pics, apks etc.... But it came as "download failed" . Since then i have tried various methods ... Using other browsers, default browser, download managers, etc but NONE of them can download the files . They don't even start downloading and say a variant of Download error, unable to download etc .
I have combed google and xda and have come up with nothing even remotely close to solving this problem. Please if anyone has any views, opinions, suggestions they are very welcome.
Btw i can download apps and updates and anything of the sort via any type of market and thats about it.
Regards,
Moxdown
well, the first thing that popped into my head was "unknown sources". do you have it turned "on" or has it been clobbered somehow ? this is most strange because you can download but then you cannot download... . are you blocked OTA ? 9.9.9.9 versus 1.0.0.0 ?
hmm, maybe you just need to use 'rom manager' and fix all permissions.
hth.

unknown sources are for app installation
OTA block simply blocks stuff from B&N (same with the version change)
rom manager and permissions have nothing to do with this
hth is not helpful either
@ OP, are these new websites that you are trying to download from by any chance?

yes, unknown sources is not a good guess. yes, lame. my brain was connecting together... the os cooperates from a known source for goods and does not cooperate from an unknown.
i thought OTA and getting an un-wanted binary update from b&n may have scrambled your os.
i was guess a critical permission got flipped to 'read only' and that was causing troubles. so running a permission fix 'may' help. it helps get rid of force closes...
and then hth stands for 'hope this helps', which was my honest desire. but then @Cubanluke88 is just being a smart a$$ ( once again ) . . . but then he's super smart and maybe has your answer.
.
maybe the best answer is 'taking it back to b&n' and having them reset it.
.
when i was asleep, i thought of another answer. maybe you caught a virus ?

yup im using ota blocker from unknown sources.. and no i haven't caught a virus because i scanned it just a few hours ago just in case ..... Oh? websites like rapidshare, forums etc.... oh and xda of course... still looking through .... i have simply NO IDEA what's wrong...
I don't know if this is possible on the stock OS, but if you can get into manage apps in settings and perhaps clear data on the browsers and try again, that's what I would try next.

EDIT: Tried doing that but to no avail... no difference what so ever. I guess i might just have to flash a brand new rom...

[Q] App installation, parsing error in Lollipop! Help please

Hi!!
I just upgraded to lollipop. Everything is fine and dandy, except for one thing, the error mentioned in the tittle. I have apk backups of most of my apps and when i try to install them, my phone shows parsing error. I flashed 2 roms, same thing in both. I tried them on different phones with lollipop installed, same thing there too. However, the apks install perfectly in kitkat and jellybean. I'm sure other lollipop devices are facing the same thing. Installing from google drive isn't helping either. I couldn't find a solution anywhere else. Anyone know of a fix for this? Or at least a reason? Anything, any bit of info at all would be helpful. Please and thankyou!

The apps are outdated most likely and not able to be run on 5.0+ you will have to contact the app developer.

Thank you for your reply!! This was driving me crazy.
Btw, if you use lollipop, do you know how to hide the message/ mail preview that are auto expanded in the notification panel? Both these issues are major turnoffs and i'm thinking of reverting back to kitkat.

Cannot install any apks on Android 7.0 Roms.

Just confirming.... Have you allowed installation from unknown sources?
And what happens when you install an app? Does it give you an error message or just crash?

yes i have enabled allowed installation from unknown sources.
it doesn't blocks app installation. it just doesn't installs it ..
no crash or anything. it enables the install button and when i click on install it says app not installed .
Weird
indeed it is. even more worried that no one else is facing this issue.

Sir! Have you tried installing different gaps? Often the case I find with some roms.
Check if "Package Installer" has proper permissions (storage). Had a similiar issue once, too, and it didn't have storage permission. I don't know why though, never had this issue again after that.

The installation package uses a shared directory that does not exist

Hi guys,
Does anyone ever encountered this problem?
Some app on Playstore listed as Not Compatible.
And even when i sideload the app (manually download and install), it gives error like it described in screenshot.
Any clue?

It's missing something then. Both show up fine for me. (BLA-L29C432B150)
TCASH detects root though, taxify launches fine
