I have just received my Iocean X7 Elite and was about to install a new rom. I had successfully rooted the device and then was trying to flash
the recovery with SP Flash Tool.
After the recovery flashed my phone refuses to turn on I believe its somehow bricked but have no idea how this could have happened. I did
format flash i only downloaded the recovery to the device.
In Device Manager when i plug the phone it it either shows up as 'DA USB VCOM Port' or 'MTK USB Port'.
When I try to use SP Tool to flash the stock Rom back onto the device I get an error saying 'BROM ERROR : S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL(4032)'
I have no idea what to do next can someone help me.
I have tried what this thread suggests:
bump
same as u..but differ phone model.(N9589)
had a few upgrd...til the recent brick it.
Tried a few version of flash tool and still the same

Same problem here - tried to install stock firmware and got this error...
these are common problems when flashing MT65xx based phones,
ie : error 4008, 4xxx, 5xxx whatever those codes mean, no explanation after extensive search on google.
once I managed to flash this one phone successfully, but I don't know exactly what I did.
as long as I recall, I tried to delete the whole flashtool folders, re-extract them, let the phone cool down a bit
and oh, try to press volume up, or down button (varies on devices) while connecting to USB, once the flashing progress bar starts, release the button.
In the flashtool option, at the OPTIONS-->DA DOWNLOAD ALL-->, check WITHOUT BATTERY.
and in the option, DA DOWNLOAD ALL--> SPEED, check DO NOT SWITCH SPEED.
try flashing your phone without battery inserted, it works many times for me.
NOTE : BEWARE, flashing your MTK65xx based phone, sometimes this tool tried to REMOVE YOUR PHONE's IMEI information, so take caution !
I haven't managed how to prevent IMEI removal when flashing those phones, because I'm not a developer.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, but this doesn't help... ;(
Anyone?
I think I figured out that the error above means you are trying to flash an incorrect ROM. Make sure you are using the right one and also make sure you're using the latest version of sp flash tool.
Once I downloaded a later version of the flash tool it began installing the ROM but then a different error appeared.
So I formatted the nand with the sp flash tool.
Then I flashed the stock ROM again and it worked
Formatting it seemed to make the errors go away even though its advised not to do so.

I tried reinstalling drivers, also tried other drivers, but this doesn't help...
I've had the same problem with the following installation Sp Tools
SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1316.0.150
Rom: MP_mt89_v9_iocean_ousheng_jb2_20130520-184014_zhongyeqing_PC

Iocean X7 Youth
I don't have the same problem but i flashed the latest version of official rom for iOcean x7 Youth : 03 july 2013 : and wtf no more internal sdcard only the rom stockage. So i can't download anything, i can't use camera .
On the official website, I read that before flashing the 20 may 2013 rom one and the 03 July 2013 one, your baseband version have to be 23/04 or higher( you have to flash the 23/04 official rom first). This is only avalaible for the YOUTH version.
So tomorrow i will try what i said below to see if i have internal sd card again.
noob question::: since the iocean x7 young and turbo are the same phones...only different clock rates...will flashing the firmware for turbo on iocean x7 young work??assuming that the mtk6589T and mtk6589 are the same chipset only different clock rates??

Clearly: Wrong driver. I had also this error. SPflash tool did not readback. I did not flash anything! I fixed this by showing the nonpresent devices in devicemanagement (google for show nonpresent devices for explanation)
Go to com ports, and delete all mediatek drivers except preloader driver. Now start over. It can help if you choose the same usb port where you had success last time.
SP flash tool shows in the statusbar which driver it is using.

Hello, I bought a lenovo s820 from aliexpress (im from romania) and i noticed after a few mins of use that 3G data won't work. Our carriers have wcdma 900/2100 and the phone specifies that it supports wcdma2100. I thought maybe the CN version (china) won't work so I found a tutorial how to flash the ROW version (rest of world). It succesfuly flashed and now my phone won't turn on. Device manager detects it as MTK USB Port but nothing. When I try to flash other firmwares of recoveries with SP Flash tool I get the get dram error.
Is there anything left to do or did I ruin this phone? I find it weird that it's still detected by PC so I hope there's still a chance.
Please help, otherwise I'm seriously screwed.
NEW UPDATE: i found a random mt6589 preloader, and i remembered i have my scatter file from when the phone worked (if only i had backuped the whole phone...) so after i select the original scatter and that random preloader i've got from the internet, the phone starts but only shows this: tool dl image fail and uboot is blocking by dl info

it because when you flash ROM using sp flash tool, you don't tick DA DL ALL with Checksum option on the right upper. that why you got that error. try re flash but don't forget to tick the option

I've flashed my Lenovo S820 CN 4g version with S820_ROW_S108_130603 firmware, using SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1316.0.150 on an Windows XP 32-bit machine, using a universal "hama" USB cable and i was stucked on a boot loop and got the same message like above. Then i've used same ROM, same tool on a Windows 7 machine and the genuine Lenovo USB cable and worked like a charm.
For those who get this message:
1) Don't use SP Flash Tool v3.xxx on Windows XP 32-bit.
2) Use the genuine Lenovo USB cable (the cable that came with your phone).
P.S. Sorry for my bad english! Take care!
Dear XDA Developpers,
My Kingzone N5 seems bricked since last Friday (18/03/2016), after an OTA update, because the device has been rooted (error while applying the update, bootloop ...). After some search on internet, I tried used to "SP Flash Tool" to recover the phone by uploading the official ROM, but no way : errors related to wrong chip, error related to bad dram ... I first think the phone was really broken, but I was able to read the whole RAM (RAM test passed OK), and read blocks from the eMMC. A topic told about a "format+download" to ensure the ROM to be properly uploaded : the format operation worked fine (all the eMMC, except the bootloader) seems now wiped (I can read empty blocks). I can access the phone right now, but for reading only, no way to upload neither the preloader, nor other partition ...
It would be really nice if you could help me ... :good:
Many thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Jean
Hi.
There are two different versions of the Kingzone N5 with different SOCs, and they need different ROMs. Likely you tried the wrong one.
You should never select "format" in SP Flash Tool, because it deletes the "preloader", which is required for flashing with SP Flash Tool in the regular way.
Now that preloader is gone, there is a last fallback to recover, but I don't know exactly how it works on the N5.
You need the phone's first boot loader (non-flashable ROM) to boot in test mode.
To activate test mode, you need to connect two pads on the mainboard or (don't know if the N5 supports this)
hold a specific button.
If the phone has booted in test mode, it will be recognized as a USB device and SP Flash Tool can flash the preloader (and only the preloader). Then you can start it again the normal way and flash all other firmware parts.
Here's the guide for you: http://www.romkingz.net/2016/01/how-to-get-pc-detect-and-mtk-device.html
What We Needed:
MT6577 USB VCOM Driver (W7/Vista/XP) ; Download
MT6577 USB VCOM Driver (W8 + W10) - Download
USB data cable
SP Flash Tool Download
First of all, make sure that you have MediaTek USB VCOM drivers installed if not follow Here.

I found various firmware downloads, but need to know the exact type of firmware you are running.
Example of one I found: rct6603w47m7-android6.0-v23-v2.15.80 (<-- underlined part is what matters)
If you boot into recovery, it should show you the type of firmware you have.

Had the same issue also I came across a bunch of ota test files on a Chinese site but links were dead and because no ota update is available i can't grab the ota url or file name. So ended up hitting a dead end.

I've got the RCT6603W47M7 tablet, but here in the UK it goes by the name of RCA Neptune 10.1L.
Problem is I have bricked it and I am now trying to recover it using SP Flash Tools. I have tried 2 different stock ROMs, only to have nothing but errors and interruptions during flashing. (errors 2004 and 4008). My tablet is fully charged yet it will randomly disconnect during flashing. I've tried both the MTKAllInOne.bin and DA_SWSEC.bin but I still get the same problem either way.
I've tried different USB ports, different cables and the two download agents that I just mentioned but I am stumped.
I wanted to try the ROM found here https://www.needrom.com/download/rca-rct6603w47m7/
But as I don't have a premium account I cannot access it.
Any ideas? This is very frustrating.

Thank you for your reply, I was worried that this discussion was dead. That's frustrating to say the least! Damn! Well, I don't know if this will work but I found another device that is also a MT8127 and has exactly the same spec of this tablet. My point being is that I found a TWRP image for that device, and because it's the same chip set I assume that it'll work for this device too?
If I can get my bricked tablet to even turn on I shall try it. It also makes me wonder that if we were able to root the device, would we be able to access the internal storage by normal means? By using the micro USB ? Either way it'd be great to have it rooted.
I stayed up all night last night trying to flash this tablet and still no luck, it keeps disconnecting half way through.
Hi everyone. As I said on a former post, I have an Alcatel 1t 7 tablet; I need its stock recovery image, but even stock firmware is getting impossible to find. I mean, apparently there are firmware for that reference of tablet, but what happens, is that there are several models that share the same physical appearance, but have different hardware, so, they have different firmware, and by that reason, their firmware don't work for my tablet. Anyway...
The fact is, looking that its original firmware is not available on the internet, at least publicly; I'm trying to reflash my tablet by using alcatel's tool called "Alcatel Mobile Upgrade", a tool that I don't guess, would be unknown for many of you. So as I said, I'm trying to reflash it with it (and in the process, restore stock recovery, I hope). So I installed MTK drivers, installed the version recommended for this tablet, followed program's instructions, but when I reach step 2 of 4, the program warns me saying this: "Read terminal information failed. Unplug device, remove the device battery and plug it again - Repeat step 2 and try again".
The issue is, that its battery is internal, not removable; even, is soldered to the board. And I must add, that at first, when I bought this tablet and began to "experiment" with it, I was using SP flash tool, and it was giving me almost the same warning that Alcatel mobile upgrade, but later I discovered what that was a fail of the used sp flash tool version. On a webpage, someone recommended a specific version of sp flash tool to fix that issue; I mean, that I could download firmware to the device without having to "unplug battery"; and It worked.
So first ¿How can upgrade my tablet by using that program?¿What am I doing wrong?¿ Which device must appear under device manager, to it can work?¿mtk usb port, Mediatek DA usb VCOM, Android preloader, or which one? And second, ¿Could be this problem, due to alcatel's mobile upgrade version?
let battery drain to make sure device is powered off. you only have preloader mode for a second - within this time pick up in device manager and install preloader drivers.
if drivers installed correctly, first start flashing, then connect phone. flash tool will keep device in preloader mode for the flashing time period

Thank you for replying. Definitely using Alcatel mobile upgrade is not an option, at least to me. I mean, I couldn't make it work in any way. "Fortunately", after an exhaustive search, I could find a post on internet, that recommended for a similar issue, to use Sugar MTK; the publisher shared this program and its credentials, for can use it . So I downloaded and used it, and I could restore my original stock. Now my issue is to port it to TWRP, but now I'm gonna to write a new post about it.
