Preamble: I am a Java Android developer. I know the standard Android development flow.
I want to start developing for AOSP-CM. I follow the guide for import the whole Java source code in Eclipse, using the .classpath file provided with the source code. So I have a Java Project with all the source code, and I can browse and edit everything.
The next step is try to setup a single Android Project, for example the Phone Application, in order to use the ADT plugin feature like GUI graphical editor.
I want to edit Phone sources, build within Eclipse and above all use Eclipse Debugger.
It is possible? Where I can find a guide or tutorial ?
Sorry but I don't believe that nobody has addressed this problem.
How a CyanongenMod developer develop and build a single application? (please...don't reply with "vim" , "nano" or similar....not in the 21th century )
Hi guys, i'm a newb at this but i wanna port and test firefox os to my galaxy ace 5830.....i'm stuck at :
Create the manifest file for the new device
Now you need to add the required repos to the manifest file for the new device; this manifest file is called default.xml. Refer to the b2g-manifest file on github for a template. Each device has its own branch; you can use the galaxy-s2 branch as a reference.
My question is do i git clone the fork i have of the b2g/manifest and edit the galaxy-s2.xml file to reflect the ace or what? I don't have the default.xml in my B2G folder......

Hi there,
im very interested in your project.
Did you getting through in the meantime?
To creating a manifest, you should use one from other device and edit it.
The best is Galaxy S II.
After this, you should open the manifest with gedit or any other editors.
Replace Galaxy S II device trees with yours and save the file as "default.xml" in directory that contains "build.sh".
Make an exact copy from your manifest and rename it to "<device_codename>.xml" for example "maguro.xml" for Galaxy Nexus Intl. or "i9082.xml" for Galaxy Grand Duos.
Now, open config.sh.
Copy one of the options in "case $1" section and use it as your template and add your device to it, like this:
Code:
"i9082")
echo DEVICE=i9082 >> .tmp-config &&
repo_sync $1
;;
Device variable is your device codename and name of your copied manifest file.
Note: this is for i9082 galaxy grand duos, you should edit it to yours.
Now, you can get the source using
Code:
ANDROIDFS_DIR=my_device_backup ./config.sh <device_codename> default.xml
Reference: "developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Porting"
interesting..!!

Architekt is a custom Virtual Machine that can be used with Mac OSX, Windows, and Linux. It includes everything you need to sync with the repo of your choice (Cyanogenmod, AOKP, AOSP, etc) and start compiling Android ROMs. This version includes Java 6 for compiling Gingerbread thru Kitkat. To compile Android L, switch to OpenJDK7.
Features:
- Latest Arch system
- XFCE Desktop Environment
- All necessary packages for compiling
- No junk (games, etc)
- Geany for editing code
All you have to do is download the source!
The only requirement is that your host machine supports a 64 bit OS. 32 bit systems will not work!
Instructions:
1. Download and install VirtualBox for your host system from here.
2. Download the latest architekt zip archive and extract architekt.ova to your hard drive.
3. Start VB, click File > Import Appliance. Select "Open Appliance" and choose architekt.ova, then click Next to import the virtual machine.
4. Highlight architekt in VirtualBox Manager and open Settings. Under "System" you will want to give it more RAM and Processor Cores. The higher these values are, the faster you will compile ROMs.
5. Start the machine, pull up a terminal and initialize a git repo. Once the source is finished downloading, you're ready to go!

You might want to try BuilduntuVM instead.
Architekt is getting pretty dated, and I don't have any time or plans to update it. BuilduntuVM received a lot more attention and is up to date with the latest versions of OpenJDK etc. for compiling Android M.

Thank you
dot42 is open source Xamarin alternative. You can create Android app using c#. You can grab latest stable version from official repository https://github.com/dot42/dot42. But developer Olaf Pettersen created many fixes and improvements on it own repository https://github.com/ninjasync/dot42. So I forked it, made some fixes, compiled and generated setup from Olaf repository. You can download it from my gdrive https://goo.gl/jxAHgF
Olaf ported some libraries to work with dot42: MVVM Cross, JSON .NET, OxyPlot etc. Check his repository.
If you have any question about how to compile your own version you can ask here.
Currently android 5.0 is not supported. Apk files not working.
