Does anybody know of any actual tests/videos comparing the battery life of the S6/S6 Edge? I have seen this graph, and I believe one other graph that show conflicting results.

How does the regular S6 get longer battery than the Edge when the Edge has a slightly larger (50 mAh) battery?
I'm coming from a S4 which barely lasts half a day, so I'm trying to justify if the price increase for the edge is worth it based on battery life alone. (I have seen both in store, and love the way the Edge looks, but if the regular S6 has a better battery life, I might just stick with it.)
I searched the forums to see if anything has been posted comparing the two but didn't come across anything.
The edge probably uses more resources for the edges. Also, I haven't come across anything saying the plastic oled uses more energy than standard oled.
not sure who made that graph, my s6e doesn't even get a third of my note 4's battery life.
Its rather bad, 100% 6am, 20% 5pm with next to no usage.
100% 11pm, 70% 6am.. pretty terrible

Really that seems like something is draining your battery if next to no usage. Today will be my first full day with the Edge but I don't see me putting it down. lol I usually just put my phones on my wireless charger at times and if I need some juice quick I'll use fast charge. Such a think phone I wasn't expecting great battery life.

Apparently there is a bug with Wifi (at least on T-Mobile) that is causing some serious standby drain. I turned off my Wifi and the battery seems to be much better for me today.
The other thing is apparently the information stream. Due to it keeping the digitizer active even when the screen is off, it causes more battery drain. I turned that off too, since I don't get much use out of it.

I hope this is true. After 7 hours with only 14 minutes screen on time, my battery was down to 60%. I even disabled the edge features, hoping it would disable the always on capacitive sensors on the side.
Google services is always on top for me in the battery graph. Anyone else?

it turned out to be VoLTE, as soon as I disabled that, my batter life is incredible.
Some disable wifi calling as well. I am sure they will fix it in a future update

Anyone tried high capacy batteries for our Wizard?
I found one Ebay a 2350mAh battery and would like to know if it really expands the battery life a lot!
link
I have the extended battery for my T-Mobile MDA. Works great, gets about 3 days under continuous usage at work. Never had the normal battery, but with the extended it doesn't seem to have any battery issues I read about before purchasing my device. I got mine on ebay too, they're from some cheapo Japanese manufacturer, but working well so far.
what's the mah that comes standard with our varios?
I bought one of those 2400 mAh batteries and it makes the difference of a couple of days. It's funny, tho...the standard battery sits at 100% forever and then when it starts dropping, it appears to drop relatively quickly. The 2400 mAh battery, on the other hand, appears to drop fairly quickly until it hits 50%. Then it sits there forever before dropping below that. But anyway, the stock battery would last me about three days, the large one lasts about 5.
Thanks for the answers!
I checked but it seems that the extended batteries are also a lot thicker.
And you will get a new backcase because otherwise it wont fit...
I do like a good extended battery but I dont want my phone to be any bigger
An alternative might be one of those battery powered "quick chargers"....I saw a link for one on a .nl site somewhere in this section. Anyway, I believe it uses a AA battery and it appeared to have a wizard compatible plug. You could always keep a couple charged NiCad AA batteries in your pocket and if your phone battery runs low, give it a boost with the charger. Then you get some extra battery life without increasing the size of the phone itself.
i have one from lion battery.....love it.
got pictures of how much bigger the battery sticks out on the mda ? thanks in advance
It will stick out a fair bit:

I find the standard (1250mAh, not the 1000mAh) battery lasts for two full working days plus travel time worth of heavy use. I use it for listening to music for about six hours a day as well as working.
I charge it every two days and find this good. If I only use it as a phone it can go all week with one charge.
I replaced the standard Cellexpert battery with the one from Sino that is also rated at 1250 mAh and it seems to last approximatelly 50% longer than the original one. Maybe it is fresher or the mAh rating is more conservative than that of Cellexpert.
O2 uses the 1.25Ah battery as standard. Don't see the point in the 1Ah battery if the 1.25 is the same size...
Too Big
I bought one. but it's too big for my case. It works at least twice as long as the standard. I use it when camping or boating with a big waterproof case, were the size isn't an issue.
My standard battery works OK. as long as I let it discharge about 80% every couple weeks.
my mda dies (drops below 20%) after ~8-9 hrs of use. granted i'm on it a lot. i still dont understand how they could POSSIBLY rate this phone's standby time of 240 hrs.

cuz they turn the screen to nothing, set every shutoff timer to 1 second, and turn off all radios. try it! max battery life!
I would love more battery, but this thing is a behemoth anyway (for those of us who won't use a holster) and i'm not willing to go any thicker.. bah.. looks like i'll carry a second battery charged in a bag as an emergency go to.
I get about 24hrs of MP3 playback on my Wizard with the 1250mAh battery screen off and volume at 80%. It lasts more than a week on standby with minimal use.
next question. with the oem battery, did u guys charge it for ~ 4 hours on the initial charge, or did u guys charge it over night?
I charged it off the USB port for less than 4 hours and the batterylife is still really good.
hi everyone this is my first thread and i am glad to be here
i have a question
i am thinking of buying the samsung galaxy s3 but i read that some people are complaining about the signal and the battery and i wanted to know is an issue in the carrier or from the phone itself ? and is it a problem on all of the samsung galaxy s3 phones ?
Well this S3 is the smartphone with the longest battery life I ever got.
I would say it is twice the nexus one or LG X2 I had before and 4 times my older Basic Galaxy.
Reception is very good and Wifi is also the best I have ever seen.
Battery life is fantastic and signal strength is also fantastic (both better than any other android phone I've ever owned). I've found wifi strength can be a bit lacking but not to the point where it becomes a problem.
Same as above, no signal or battery issues. Battery is very long-lasting.
Only issue I've had so far was a wakelock keeping the phone awake all night and draining it, but that can happen on any device.
Good reception and battery life. Gotta be happy with 6 hours screen time.

very impresive man..btw my s3 doesnt have any signal or battery issues
i think my have battery problem, it don even last me a day and i dont even use it that much and also mine gets very hot when charging it
Believe me after coming from a LG optimus 3D i would say the battery life is awesome. LG optimus 3d battery life with heavy usage 3 hours no usage 5. S3 with heavy usage 15 hours or more, no usage i have no idea last time i left it on idle to check it was almost 2 days..
That is comparing a dual core to a quad core phone the battery is simply amazing and the signal hasn't dropped for me at all it is excellent..
I'm having battery issues. Cell standby seems to use a crap load of battery for seemingly no reason.
This pic is just over night. I went to bed with 100% battery and woke up with these battery stats:
Battery life is not a issue in this mobile..its awesome..even signal strength is also fine so till now no probs at all ..
So I'm having major battery issues. After 2 hours of light use my battery is down to 84%. Tried to post screen shots of the battery usage but can't upload .png file. Basically the android system is consuming almost 90% of the battery. After 4 hours it is almost half dead and by 8 hours less than 20% left. Very frustrating. Power saving mode is on.
Ok so i was able to attach an image showing a screenshot I took yesterday showing the terrible battery life.

My problem exactly. Cell standby is giving my battery a hard time. On Voodafone now.
IMO High Cell standby power drains suggests your signal is weak?? chaning your wireless network settings may help Eg: 4G on or off, roaming etc. High Android system drains suggest unnecessary systems always running. I would try turning off any unused apps, GPS, etc & lowering display brightness. I think I'm going to get this phone tomorrow.

Is anyone else finding it extremely difficult to get through the day without struggling to keep your SIII alive? I thought the battery life was supposed to be superior to its predecessors? I'm a first time Android user but I did not think I would have to lower my brightness all the way and constantly monitor my devices battery life.
do you have some dumbass apps draining your battery?
i found my culprit and it's Friendcaster without even turn the notification on
get Badass battery monitor to find it or just use the one in setting
I'm finding the battery life is great, and lasts a whole day with no problems
It really depends on what do on your phone.
Try posting a screenshot of your battery stats. Android has an inbuilt monitor with each app and its usage being displayed. Easy method to spot a drain.
I just downloaded that in addition to my other app but there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary that seems to be killing my battery. Most of it is coming from my screen but I keep at it 25% brightness the whole time. Super odd
I usually get around 16 hours of standby and at least 4 hours or more of screen time.
You should try Watchdog Task Manager. It will be able to tell you if an app is running and using more processes than it should. Also I've never used badass battery stats, but better battery stats will tell you if anything is holding a wakelock. It is free for XDA members so you don't have to buy it on the market. Just search for it

On saturday I drove for 4 hours streaming music via bluetooth to my car. Used navigation for about 40 minutes with the screen on the whole time. Took a few calls, sent a few sms's. Read a few forums using data. Got home that night with about 40% left. That'll do me.
Maybe I'm just freaking out about the whole battery situation? I just expected it to be a lot longer and a lot better. I constantly worry if I'll be able to make past 10PM when I start my day at 7AM.
On wifi with little to no voice signal that cuts out frequently, I might get seven hours of screen on time today D:

I'm getting huge drain from Cell Standby.
It'll lose 30% overnight. I keep checking for a software update. It's got to be the modem.
I'm holding off on rooting and custom ROMS until I know for sure this is fixable in firmware.
My phone's on LE6 and is from Thailand.
I see that you have poor signal reception
maybe that's why
last time I went underground, just 5 mins of standby it took away 10% of my battery
when it searches for signal it drains a lot
you could also try to disable auto search for network
go to setting>more settings > network operators and select it manually

Same thing here after updating. Android OS is currently at the top with 10% followed by Android System with 9% in my phone at the moment. System is draining more than the screen. Weird.
Same here. On DP5 battery life was better for me.
same for me, system and Android on top, weird.
What's the reported "Keep Awake" time for those processes? Right now, for me, is Screen on top with 10%, Android System and Android OS next with 8% each. However, the keep awake time is only 3m41s and 11s respectively. That doesn't look too bad, actually.
The OS requires almost a week to settle. Calm your tits.

I installed it last night and so far today I'm at 3% per hour after 9hr25min elapsed. This only has an hour of screen time but that includes about 20 HDR photos (which in MM would have KILLED my battery), BT and WiFi are both on continuously but not connected, GPS is on high accuracy, screen timeout at 1 min, several reboots cycles (trying to figure out how to wipe the cache), etc. In other words, I'm on track for a 30+ hour day, and I'm not doing one thing to try to conserve the battery. Granted there's not much SoT so far but still, I'm impressed. Even more so because tribal knowledge seems to think that the OS needs a few days to "settle down" before true battery life can be assessed. I'm not sure I really buy into that but if it is true, the battery endurance should be stunning...
Have been getting the same results in the Beta and now with final release having the same problem./ Battery life is no good. And doze doesn't seem to kick in even at night. Android os and Android System taking as much mah as the screen. Not good.
http://imgur.com/3jAqetI
http://imgur.com/a/9t5fF

Here's what mine's doing so far. Note that it seems to Doze more or less the instant the screen shuts off.
Same issue here, battery life isn't super impressive.
These don't have much meaning without context: How are you using them? How much SoT? Are all the radios on? Etc...
Did factory reset. See if it helps. I'll post after it, "settles in"
Doze seems to kick in, but I don't know whether made it more or less aggressive than before (I'm guessing less), where battery gains are now, and how they're spread out. On MM, I was getting the typical 2-3% drop every night. For the past three nights with N, the drop is 5-6%.
Received the device a few hours ago and updated to N.
All default settings, no additional app.
No 3G/lte as I don't have yet a nano sim.
Bt is on but not connected.
Positioning is on battery saving.
Screen brightness is at 33%.
After 40mn of web surfing with wifi, or playing with the menus I lost 6%.
I'm happy with that :good:

Quick question how did you update so quickly if you just got it?
My second cycle but this time with Ninja Kernel and some kernel tweaks. With sync and location enabled the whole time. Lots of web browsing, video streaming, plus a few minutes of gaming and phone calls. It's not spectacular but not too terrible for me either.
Mine isn't bad. Updated from DP5 using OTA in TWRP.

Getting about an hour less sot on nougat than m.
They seemed to have fixed the performance issues of m by sacrificing screen on battery life.
well every time a new phone comes out, early reviews are mixed with some having terrific batter while others are having a dreadful one. Theres only one way to have a scientific approach to measure a battery life, and it is to use a standardized test on the phone with most commonly used settings on and others off and no applications installed etc. Since that is hard to do lets just use a poll.. Whats your uptime, SOT and some major setttings...like below
UPTIME: 24hours
SOT: 6H15mn
Connectivity: LTE
Settings: Auto brightness, gmail sync
also put up screenshots of the battery tab so we can see the usage, not just people just starring at a black screen
thanks for voting guys but its also crucial that you post the infos as described that way we can help fellow members with bad battery life

Yes there are many factors that impact the battery life unless we all run the same battery benchmark on airplane mode with default configuration and no apps installed, battery life is not comparable but it's just to get an average
The new chip is just bad. This won't get fixed.
You can try to use a custom battery savings mode and just enable the CPU limiter, it'll cap performance to the S8 but battery will be quite a lot better.
I can get a day or more but its no match for the Mate 10 Pro I had before
Sorry but won't post any screenshot as I have to put in charge everyday around 3 pm, unplugged at 7 am, to make sure battery will last til the end of the day =(
My previous 3 phones were S8+, Note 8 and Iphone X, all I can say is that S9+ battery life is much worse compared to the 3 of them.
Expecting an update to fix that, if it doesn't come in the next 10 days I'll return my handset.

You realise leaving it charging over night knackers the battery because it keeps trying to top up which over time puts a lot of extra wear and tear on it

The more it consumes internet over mobile data the power decreases. However, good at all

I don't want to disappoint you. But my previous phone was S8+. Unfortunately with the official update to Oreo the battery performances was a little bit worse than S9+.
Agree with the fact that with Android 7 Galaxy s8+ had a better battery life. But with Oreo... that's another story.

I have the SD variant S9+ and I'm in the very bad battery life camp.
I am also in the bad battery camp... I can get about 2-3 hours of SOT before it just craps out and I just spent 800$ on this thing. I'm ready to return it myself.
I'm on exynos and really enjoying my battery life. Anywhere between 5.5 - 7.5hrs sot depending on how I use the phone.
Rocking on 6 or 7 hours sot with all social apps, pubg mobile, Twitch, YouTube, discord.. Exynos version. Who has bad battery should move to Apple because u can't even make your android smartphone have a good battery.

Standby time is amazing, too. 9 hours overnight used only 5%.
The battery life for this phone is good. The standby battery life is not great. I don't get a good signal at my job, so when I get in I cut off my data. With the data off, the phone is still draining battery.
However, if I'm in a good signal area or on Wi-Fi, I can get 6-7hours sot.
