So today I found out that my phone isn't running well.
I'm not expecting the Sony UI to be perfect, lag-proof and anything, but I think the problem hasn't gone out and there's something wrong.
My phone constantly stutters and you get a bit of lag whenever I swipe from left to right, in the app drawer, the notification menu and when I'm opening apps. I've set the animation speed to 0.5x and it still stutters, paired with bits of lag. I'm looking for the smooth and fluidic transitions and animations but I'm just not getting it.
This happens each time I put my phone to sleep and wake it up after. It isn't the screen wake up lagging, but the UI itself. The animations start to stutter and lag then.
The solutions I have made are; restarting the device, which can get annoying every now and then; and freeing up space, which worked once and the problem went back again.

Is there a solution to this? I have installed more than 80 apps and I think it's one of the contributions to the problem.
And to be honest I have some OCD and it quite annoys me.

Do a clean flash via Flashtool (wipe everything), try with latest Lollipop update. After that install your apps one by one and try to figure it out which one is cause of your problems. :good:

I'm not really using any huge widgets or a ton of home screens, but lately the system has been killing it. I have it set to be persistent in the app settings and in CM settings. Is there any way to monitor its memory use?

Got it not to o long ago and having same prob, just thot it was unstable
It needs a lot of work. Although I've finally got things set up in such a way that ADW EX plays nicely with everything else, runs very fast, and never crashes on me. The only remaining problem is that it occassionally gets dumped from memory, even though I've got it set up to "Keep home in memory." So I have to watch it reload when returning to the home screen one out of every ten times. Other than that, it's beast.
Ive been using it for a couple months thru most of the nightlies upto rc2 and for me I was always able to fix every problem by switching to ADW stock and just giving up on the EX I't contantly froze up after more than 20 or so minutes in lock, no matter how long I gave it to setup after coming off lockscreen it would often still Fc or just freeze, there has seemed to be a lil less problems with rc2 though, most of the FCs I was getn could be avoided by not having any screen transition fx other than the stock scroll, this was killing me constantly, when I disabled it it almost ran smooth, almost! With the theme chooser now im so tempted to just toss it.
I think I found out what may have been causing it. I was also using Multitasking Pro, and I had it mapped to a double-click of the home button so the system thought it was my home app and kept it alive instad of ADW. Re-mapping MTP to the genius button and having ADW as my home key app fixed it. No crashes thus far.
Mine just recently started doing this and it was after i flashed RC2. I remembered this thread so I came over. It force closes constantly on a reboot until it seems to settle itself but I also get a force close on every phone call which blocks the caller id until i force close it. It's getting annoying but I love the design of my homescreen so i'm kind of torn. A fix permissions did nothing to rectify it. I guess i'll try to reinstall it and see what happens. Maybe Titanium Backup messed with it, I don't know.
I am currently running rooted MJ7 (Verizon Galaxy S4) and have window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animation duration scale all turned off in developer options. I hoped that this would reduce screen and lock screen lag, however, I am getting pretty pissed about waking my phone and have to wait for 10-15 seconds for any touch response. This happens about once or twice an hour. It also occurs every so often once the screen unlocks and I will wait 10-15 seconds for anything but the wallpaper to load... I have hard reset multiple times hoping to clear the issue. I use zero widgets to avoid load time (however the hardware in this phone should be able to handle pretty damn much anything), and I manually clear cache and kill apps regularly....Nothing has helped... Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this?

Do you have lock screen effects turned off (light and water)? Turning those off really helped with the stutter I used to get when unlocking. It wasn't nearly as bad as what you're describing though... are you running any performance tweaks? Any 3rd party apps that change system behavior? I would freeze any non-stock apps and mods for a day and see if you still get it.

Haha, I actually feel quite noob at this point. Immediately after creating this post I went through my running applications in rom toolbox and noticed one little thing... There was a system cleanup tool running a total clean at every system lock, thus killing all running/background apps. The lag was simply the phone restarting the necessary applications... After eliminating this procedure I no longer experience the severity of lag. Whoops.

I own a Acer iconia tab 8 840FHD. I have managed to root it but no matter what I try to do to prevent dropped frames its still there.
Its a well powered tablet and sometimes its smooth at butter but when I lock it for a few minutes and go back on to it games have dropped frames slightly and so does the UI. After a while it becomes smooth again but comes back randomly.
I have and still am using greenify and clearing the multitask button but no difference. I have even changed the governor to performance and no difference. The only way it seems to stay smooth is by reducing the resolution :\
I also have disabled a bunch of apps. Using nova launcher keeps the UI smooth but not games.
I just don't get how it can run so smooth for a while then I see dropped frames to about 20fps.
If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it.
Really? No one?
I was totally happy with my G5, have it now since 4 weeks. Everything was perfect. But suddenly, out of nowhere, I have this weird micro stuttering (reduced smoothness) everywhere where I can scroll. In the app drawer (Nova launcher), in scroll lists like the app lists in the Play Store App, in the Settings menu, mostly everywhere, in Chrome too, in the notification bar when swiping it down. It doesn't happen always though but with a high chance. It's mostly hard to describe but I would say, that before it was always 60fps animations, and now it's not anymore. It's not totally broken (maybe 30-50fps), but not smooth. You can notice it really well when you scroll really slow with your finger up and down with a rhythmic interval and look at the screen animation how it stutters, it's no smooth animation like it used to be. It's especially worse in the settings gui when you slowly scroll down, the screen will stutter a few frames behind the animation time.
It's not rooted nor did I install any apps whats soever lately which could cause this. I even tried to remove some apps I have installed over the last days, with no effect. Tried to reboot of course too several times.
I am totally sure, that it was silky buttery smooth before this everywhere.

You can solve this by going to Setings/Developer Settings/ Tick "Force GPU Rendering"
My unrooted LG G4 is smooth because of this.
If U have root! Try L Speed / Trimmer fstrim / Entropy. try these 3 apps found on the Play Store.

Sadly that didn't change anything, I already had tried it before, because I knew that "trick". Also "Disable HW overlays" didn't change anything if toggled.
Well, its Android so you can always factory reset the device easily. You can also use LG backup to restore app data I think. Should be pretty painless assuming sync is enabled on your phone (google photos + account backup ..contacts calendar etc..).
Isn't your internal storage getting full?
Hello XDA!
This thread is to report regarding problems faced by me in Redmi Note 4 running MIUI 9.6.3.0 (LOCKED BOOTLOADER)
The much teased Lighting Fast MIUI9 seems to be mocking lightning itself.
The recent update have not only made the phone slower and laggy but also nerfed the overall experience
Few of such issues are --
*Delay in FingerPrint Sensor
The delay is significant, to the extent that even after placing your finger screen pops up 3-4sec later or you have to keep placing your finger 3-4 times back to back
Now it's not the issue with hardware, it works well usual for everything else
*SD Card is mounted everytime after waking up phone after a long time
Now this issue, is a 'feature' of MIUI or not I don't know?
But every time when you wake up phone after 15-20mins it shows 'SD is ready for use' in the notification area
And now the SD isnt showing up at all(Any Help?)
*Overall lag and Not-so-smooth transitions
The notification pull down, the cache loading, media loading, multi tasking, up and down scrolling everything seems to be laggy... Not in a drastic and force closes way but there's no smooth transition
Now Im not being choosey and critic but the lag is noticable and it's not cool because it wasn't there before
I've summarised my issue in these three sub headings
I'd be happy if the community can help me out and how can I make my phone experience better
I'd be thankful for your reply
I know issues like this might require logs so please tell me how can I help in that way
Regards,
XdaPoseidon
