[Q] ZTE contact app how to access hidden features - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i own a ZTE V5 V9180 it runs ZTE custom firmware called NUBIA UI v2.5.
As i was able to decompile the contacts.apk i found there are entries like "sorting contacts" etc, but when the app is running i cant see the options.
Same in systemui.apk there ar ementions in smali etc. about splitscreen, but i dont have these options and other ZTE devices running on NUBIAUI have them.
I realised that there must be a code which enables or disables some fetures regarding on which device is the app running (i think they make the core of the apps same and then make restrictions based of maybe model number).
I want to find which are the characters after them the app decide what options to enable or disable.
Is someone so kind and can me help to find where in the code is the device specific restriction hidden?
My goal is to have contact sorting enabled, and in best option also splitscreen and maybe other functions.
if there are device specific restriction this device is V9180 (or X9180), ZTE V5max is N958St, ZTE Z7max is NX505J.
Thanx in advance for your time guys!

Hi, did you find something out about this topic? I am interested in the sorting option of contacts. I have Z9 mini, and the contacts are sorted in very weird way and there is no option to change it.
As for the split screen, this is something my phone has enabled by default.

try to find ZTE Z9mini on 4pda.ru forums, or if you have root, you can modify the apk by yourself HERE on 4PDA. The process is described on a ZTE V5 ContactsProvider.apk and while you have also nubiaui,it should work also. Dont forget to make a full backup of your phone. And really you dont have an option to sort contacts? I thought it was disabled only on ZTE V5 nubiaUI.

Thats the most weird things, because when you decompile the contacts.apk there are strings containg different sorting methods.
But when i spoke with the latest zte nubia z9 mini owner he said there are also no sortings possibilities on his device.
When i wrote to the engeneers on ZTE they said that they dont plan to implement sorting methods of contacts.
I thought that the sortings method will be avaliable only for intenational firmwares, but thats also weir because there are no international firmwares for nubia devices.

I didn't find problems like this

[Q] Is it possible make TRACK ID work AOSP 2.1 007a?

Hi
Tried to install track id.apk i found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739929&page=2
on AOSP 2.1 007a
Butt getting forced closed when trying to launch it.
doing:
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
Select the TrackID app
Tap on "Clear data"
Tap on "Force stop"
dint work either...
Is it possible? or should i just give up
sorry for bad english.
I imagine like all other manufacturers like HTC , Samung , Motorola etc etc core apps which they designed for a specific user experience are all tied in together with there customised Android Framework, meaning to use such an app you would need all of sony ericssons proprietary files also which obviously defeats the object as you may aswell not bother with having an aosp 2.1 rom also with AOSP you will have no drivers for the X10 Specifically which will mean you will more than likely have errors using hardware unless you fish them out from an SE 2.1 rom
Also on a last note, now i have answered your question, in future remember to ask your questions in the correct forum : x10 Q&A forum
I think you need to install some or all SE APKs to make it work.
Code:
com.sonyericsson.*

You're screenshot is about the permission it uses. Permissions are built in a system, not in an app. Nonetheless it still can depend on an app, but not in the way you mean.
Please post in the proper thread

Download a custom ROM
Hi!
I´ve never heard about a modification for S3 targeted specifically towards call recording.
If you want to do call recording i only know of one way to do this. Sadly though it isn´t free. Here goes:
On Google Play there is an app called "Call Recorder Galaxy S2 & S3". There´s a link for the trial version here.
Please note the reviews of the full paid app aren´t all positive so the trial version for initial testing could be a good idea, allthough for me the full app runs flawlessly.
In the latest iteration this app needs root so if you aren´t rooted and don´t want to root it will not work.
Fortunately root is easily obtained and i can only recommend it as there are so many other things possible with it.
Look here for rooting instructions.
Regards & happy new year.

if you could decompile secphone.apk (with wanam instruction) please share it with me to replace it with my secphone.apk
Free app here to record calls but sound quality isn't the best.

Thanks everyone for answers , but i do not want a app to call record

Then why don't you find a ROM with call recording features? A lot of them have the feature so it's not hard to find
Install the Xposed framework and Tweakbox and you can enable it in there without having to replace any APKs or lose the odexing of your stock, original ROM.

That happens when the phone is starting up and your files are still scanning (if your uptime is quite high, OTOH, you should probably check to see if MediaScannerService isn't going crazy with your files). It's a Samsung bug/feature. Since Tweakbox enables the original audio recording function in SecPhone, you're gonna see it even if you modify SecPhone directly. In Xposed, someone can bypass the check by replacing the method checkMediaScannerRunning() with one that returns Boolean.FALSE, but I haven't really looked to see if it would break anything
It has low quality too!
I think that it's better to install a foxhound rom!
I had it but return to this stock rom!
because every one or two weak it has a new update and made me sadly! (my connection is too slow! my download speed at most is:50 kbps!!!)

[Q] Where to go from stock with Mediapad Honor X1?

I have imported a Huawei Mediapad Honor X1 from China. I have managed to set it to English and installed all the Google apps i need (or think i need because every time i want to use something specific i learn that some hidden Google app is needed to do the trick).
Because i do not want to reset everything to English when i reset to factory default i hoped i could find a custom rom with English as it's standard language and the playstore installed etc.
I did some hefty reading in this forum to find several things.
A) there are custom ROMs but these are work in progress;
B) there are official ROMs;
C) After i update from the stock image the DPI will change so some apps will not work and the UI will look horrible.
So based on these findings (if they are correct) i have some further questions.
1) Are there 'finished' custom ROMs that i could use?
2) Are there official custom ROMs that have English as their default language, have playstore installed and have the original DPI
3) Currently i have Build number 7D-503LV100R001C233B002 and kernel version 3.0.8-01316-gb959b08. Is there a reason to upgrade from this version? From what version will the DPI change
4) I notice that it looks like the GPS is lacking connection time (i noticed my weather app doesn't change location when i am in another city). An app like GPS tester shows that my GPS does work. So i think it has something to do with automatically checking for changes.
Does anybody knows if this is a known problem?

You could try updating to B006 or B007, which don't mess with the DPI and are still 4.2.2. I don't recall which one made the DPI change but you can read acuratslan's threads/;posts.
Root it and install Xposed framework to suit your taste.

How can i change the font on 5.1.1.?

Hi. İ want to chenge my font with Rosemary by the iFont an some other apps from Google play are not working... İ found some flashable zips for Xperia 5.0.2 but they are not competible with 5.1.1.... Now i need your help for this...
Fontster was working while I was using the GPe 5.1 port. Haven't tried it on Sony's 5.1.1 build, but I'll go ahead and assume it's working just fine.
Well I didnt tried changing fonts on Android 5.1.1 still. But I was wondering if there is any way to get option of fonts in Default Settings menu, (Just like the way it is present in Samsung and HTC phone's stock rom i.e. In Settings -> Personalisation -> Fonts).
Nope, those a pure Samsung/HTC features, and you'll have to use a root-app to change it on Sony and other OEMs.
Well Someone once posted a flashable zip to get Smart Call Handling in Cross Device Development Project. We got a option in Settings because the OEM had already added the code to get 'em there. I was thinking maybe this gonna happen again.
Well Thanks

How to add more tiles to the Quick Settings in dropdown menu - MM 6.0.1

Hi, before I updated to MM I had more tiles/icons I could use. Now with the new update MM 6.0.1 EMUI 4.0 it's not possible to have more than nine ready-to-use icons. So my question is, given I have root, xposed and phone unlocked, how can I add more icons to the dropdown menu? Any files to edit, or any xposed modules to try ?
I tried GravityBox [MM] but it does not work. Phone is KIW-L24, rooted, xposed and TWRP installed.
Thanks.
PS. I have checked for a while for a solution, but so far no luck.
you will be out of luck to hear this..
unfortunately, you cannot do what you are intending to(as for my knowledge).. feature is burried with lollipop ..
i have surfed over the entire settings and found nothing
Yes, I was afraid I'd not be able to change that, ... too bad such a useful feature gets axed. Is there any custom ROM out there for Honor 5X that can do that, that's close to Huawei's EMUI (I kinda got used to it now) ?
I've checked the custom ROMs sub-forum from time to time, but I'm not sure which to chose. Do you have any suggestions ?
Thanks.
