Root not working - HTC Desire 610

The windroid app has gained unlocked bootloader, added recovery, was able to gain root... I was ale to flash a rooted rom, root checker confirms root, yet i am unable to remove system apps. I assume I have not changed write permissions, yet ive flashed the kernel to do that very thing, but it is not working yet. Anything I can do? What have I missed?

[SOLVED] Root Checker shows root, but apps don't gain root access. why?

Hi, i am a complete noob.
I recently rooted my phone without flashing a new kernel using the cwm recovery mod busybox installer on this site. However, since then i have updated my firmware over kies but not a full update, just a small one. Now although root checker says i have root, my root apps can't gain root access. Would really appreciate any help oli could get on this matter.
Running XWLPI on my phone. Any more info needed i can provide but dont know what is required.

EDIT: The link in the first reply worked, I used the unroot all file to clear everything and then the signed superuser only file to root. worked like a charm

Do I have root?

I'm trying to get my titanium backup to load but it gives me an error telling I don't have root access.
I loaded up Super user and tried updating the binary but it also says fail when it comes to gaining root access.
I have s-off 1.58 2.89 and have a custom ICS rom on it. Am I missing something?

Some ROM's with the free version of Titanium Backup pre-installed have that problem. Try uninstalling it, then re-install it from the Play Store.
Oh, and you can always use the free version of Root Checker to confirm that you have root.

Did you install busybox? Some apps require busybox as well as superuser.
If that doesn't fix I suggest you go back and re-flash superuser.

Reinstalled superuser3.1.3 still no root access. Any other suggestions.?
Trying to run busy box it says Su binary was not found on phone. If that helps

How did you root your phone? It sounds like you may have missed a step.

I did the wire trick method.

That's for S-OFF. Which guide/procedure did you use to get root before you did the wire trick? Also the wire trick won't work unless you have root so you must have lost it somewhere along the way.
If you just want a stock rooted ROM I suggest flashing the one from this post. If your goal is to get to a custom ROM you should just flash it since you have S-OFF and must have a custom recovery installed already.

Well I have the cool ICS rom on. The rom isn't the issue the issue is my root. How do I get it back as I would like to get titanium backup back so I can restore all my apps and settings.

On the contrary, the ROM must be the problem since that is a custom ROM which should have root already setup properly. The term "root" refers to having superuser (and usually busybox) installed and that's the responsibility of the ROM developer unless you are rooting a stock ROM yourself. Search the Cool ICS thread for "root" and I think you may find that other users have had this issue.
In the future please identify what ROM you are using when you ask a question like this. I implied from your OP that you were rooting the ROM yourself, which I shouldn't have done, but describing your configuration more completely will save everyone time and effort.
Edit: I re-read the OP and you did say that you have a "custom ICS ROM", but it would be helpful to identify which one.

Root: HTC Butterly

Hi All. I tried to rrot my HTC Butterfly(X920d). Everything went well from unlocking bootloader to installing recovery and SU. But when I installed Root Checker it says "Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.". Is that it and it did fail to root?

sounds like you didnt correctly install superuser
Do I just re-try the process?
Edit: It says Successful in Bootlaoder. Is it possible that Butterfly(X920d) is still unrootable?
did you try any other apps that require root access ?
why fix it if it ain't broken ?
I think it worked. I just re-installed SU. Now I'm trying to find out how I can make my htc Butterfly read Internal and external storage the other way around.
Edit: Now it says root failed again. WTH???!!!

Get it a try it is faster than stock rooted one
And thats why I just wiped the whole damn thing and installed Virtuous ROM ... very v happy i did that
hi guys, do you know a guide for rooting htc butterfly x920d?
Unlock the normal htcdev way and install twrp recovery from here -
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/142
Use any supersu zip to root it ... Note that the stock Rom doesn't like to stay rooted and gives trouble after some time , so better install custom Rom instead like virtuous
If you need a noob guide look in the android development forum for sticky
Sent from my HTC Butterfly using xda premium
I've succesfull rooted a droid dna last week, now I've a butterfly... only know if the procedure is the same as DNA.
I have to use the same instruction and files?

I think this is what I'm experiencing. I thought I was rooted, then it wasn't. Then no looks like I am again. Also I'm having a problem I think with the recovery. When I try to go to recovery to access SU the screen goes nuts and shows multiple colors in lines. Does anyone know if a factory reset will solve this?

Superuser installed but I have no root access?

Let me start off by saying I'm a total noob. I have rooted my device before, but that was so long ago I forgot everything. Anyway I don't remember how my tablet got this way because I haven't used it in a while, but I have superuser installed yet I have no root access. I opened up the Voodoo Rootkeeper and it says super user app is installed, device is rooted, but root permission hasn't been granted.
So I tried to root again on top of it hoping it would work but now I just have another superuser app. Somebody please help me get root access.

Thats what I used this last time when I tried to root it. It installed the second superuser app and when I opened it, it said that I needed to update binary or something like that. But I still had no root access after using motochopper.

I had the same issue after the last OTA. Root was lost and OTA rootkeeper didn't work.
This worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038464
After successfully unlocking and installing TWRP and root, I went on to install this (but you can stop here if you don't want a different ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
I'm delighted by this ROM. Much better than stock.

I did a lot of searching, and tried several methods, but I couldn't find a solution which worked. Is your Prime still under warranty? If not, there's no reason not to unlock.

No its not. I just have no reason to unlock. I dont care about custom ROMs and I would like to be able to return it to stock if I want to later.

[Q] Lollipop 5.0.2 Rooted but no write access

Hello
This my very first post on XDA so be gentle.
Question is I created a pre rooted SGP611_23.1.A.0.690 with PRFCreator flashed it and everything went fine but I am unable to get any write access to root even though its stating its rooted I cant seem to install apps like busybox etc.
My first through was RicDefeat so I tried it all again and this time tried flashing RicDefeat but when I try to flash I get errors, had no problem flashing under Kitkat.
Is there anything i am doing wrong?
My bootloaders locked atm, I can unlock if necessary I have backed up my DRM keys.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Im on the same boat as you. So any help would be apreciated.
Use my RICDefeat from here and run it from terminal. Works only if you are rooted. Afterwards you should have r/w access.
