There is a fully functional WhatsApp app in the Tizen store - for the Z1. Is there a way to install it on the Gear S, and what steps would I need to follow?

No, this is not possible. Tizen is the complete environment for phones, Gear smartwatches use Tizen wearable, a simplified environment.

Gear Fit doesn't have Tizen OS. He has RTOS (Real-Time OS). Gear 2/Neo can be rooted, but I thing there is no way how to do that on Gear Fit, because there is no need to. We need CUP libs for developing apps, because they are missing in actual version of SDK.

Will this help to extract the data from the Gear Fit, or to constantly read it status? Seems to me it will be good only with Google wear products.

I have a Gear Fit but I do not have a Galaxy S5, would it be possible to develop an application to download the information from the Gear Fit without using S Health?
If there is no app, I would appreciate if someone can direct me on how to create one.

Use app Fitness with Gear. This is S Health Lite.
I have installed the fitness with gear app, but ask me ever the samsung account. I have a g3 phone
You can't use the Fitness with Gear app with a non Samsung phone either. As of now there us no app available to us non Sammy users

Tizen SDK for Wearable is very nice with some good sample for UI, sensor....
Full SDK with Eclipse IDE.
That's what I want to do is start out with some wearable apps. I was looking at it and you're right it isn't bad.

I'm new at Tizen development. I want to make a simple REST call from my standalone Tizen Wearable App. Unfortunately I'm not getting any response. Is it possible to use REST in Tizen?
I even tried using an example getMyIP URL to avoid server side mistaken conduct.
