Google-Now Change the keyword Ok Google - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this morning I said OKAY GOOGLE CALL XYZ ON LANDLINE - and two phones started dialing. Obviously there is no way to avoid this.
Any dev out there who could try a hack that allows to define personal keywords? Or is there someone from Google who reads this and helps?
I imagine that in the not so far future you can say OKAY GOOGLE in a MacDos and 20 phones will reply.
Thanx in advance.

Reviving a 4 year old post. ?
Is there an answer here?
Had the ability to customize the keyword with my Droid Turbo in 2014 and LOVED it.
Open Mic+ looks like it used to do it? I DL'd tm3 versions of it. One didn't work, one wouldn't even complete DL'ing, & the 3rd had a not from developer saying he promised Google he would disable it?
Developer mentioned something called Commandr but it doesn't seem to do anything.
DL'd the old Moto app and it wouldn't launch.
Anyone know how to customized the OK Google command?

Answering machine\Voicemail App?

Hi,
I'd like to know if there is any app around that does the work of an answering machine. An app that will probably answer the call after a specific amount of rings and save the callers' message on the SD card. This was an idea I got from a few years ago when we were discussion open software for cellphones. I'd love to know if it's already been done.
Thanks.
Anyone know of such an app?
google voice ??
I would vote for YouMail.
It actually downloads your VM messages from the "cloud" and stores them on your SD card.
It also has other nice features.
Best of all, everything is FREE!!!
I also use youmail its the best app out there for voice and its free vzw charges 2.99 for their visual voicemail.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Airvoice, but it does not work on my desire... Anyone know of anything else?
I use Hullomail.. you can tell it to use your gmail account as storage which is handy because if I miss call when I'm at my computer I can just play the message on my PC...

I haven't seen any such app yet. The apps mentioned in this thread are different.
What is asked for is a voicemail on the phone itself, not any 3rd party who stores your voicemail for you, after which you can download it.
No, what is asked for is an actual app on the phone that actually functions as a voicemail/answering machine and stores the voicemail directly on the sd card. Without redirecting the call to a 3rd party, and without requiring an internet connection anywhere in the process from accepting the voicemail to playing the voicemail.
But there is no such app, to my knowledge.

A stand-alone app like this would be pretty sweet actually. I think the phone providers would be a little ticked if someone were to write an app like this. I would buy it as i don't subscribe to an answering service on my cell (separate monthly charge for my plan.) Most of these 3rd party (cloud) services don't work in my region.

Same here.
Waiting for some developer to answer our questions and explain if this is even possible or not :-s
Hi all
I'm looking now for 1 Year for this kind of answer machine.
the only one that do that is until now ---> Airvoice
But, the developer stoped developing this app since HTC Hero.
So it works only on HTC Hero.
Look at the Market for Airvoice, and send, like me, a email to the Developer. Maybe he will finaly start again developing this app!
Greetings ivifly

[Q] Where is voice talk?

Hello,
I just purchased a Galaxy S II, model SHW-M250S. However, I do not think it came with the voice talk software. Does anyone know why that would be? Any way to add it to the phone (other than vlingo from the app store) I have been trying to figure it out online for a little bit now so I am posing the question to those with a lot more knowledge about phones than myself. Thank you.
You mean a voice command application? Vlingo is the closest you can get right now.
Yes voice commands. I thought the GS2 came with a "voice talk" application preloaded. In videos I have seen users just click applications and it is right but my phone lacks this.
There are three, voice talk, voice command, and voice search. Not sure what are the difference among them as they all seem to do more or less the same thing.
Sent from my phone via tap tap tap
Hmm, well I have the voice search but it just searches google. It won't open apps or let me dictate messages or anything.
You are right, I got them confused, voice search does google, but the other two more or less do the same thing. They should all be in your app drawer.
I don't think they are I wonder how it got left off the phone? Kinda disappointing. Too expensive of a phone to be missing stuff imo.
I have been searching high and low for an APK that has those, but I have not come up with anything so far... lost it when I flashed a complete WIPE custom rom... I'll be ever so thankful if anybody uploads or directs me to said APK...

[Q] Offline voice regocnition

Hi, I'm having a rather frustrating problem and I was hoping someone could help me out. On my htc desire x, there is no option to download the offline voice packages. My google search and voice search are both up to date and there are no software updates for my phone, so my android and sense are up to date. I just got the app Utter, which is great by the way, but I want to be able to use it without killing my internet cap, since I don't have WiFi at home.
Still no reply?
People please I would love if someone could just help me out here. Not being able to use utter offline really sucks.
Well, I have personaly never heard about any usefull offline voice recognition, everything is using online sources.

Google offers you the option to download their voice packages. The problem is, it doesn't allow me to do that on my phone.
Same problem with my HTCDX

06/25 Google Now Update hacking

Hey, I'm messing around with the settings here.
As you might know, Google released an update for Google Now. It now allows the use of "OK Google anywhere" and is always listening while charging, pretty much like Moto X! Yay
But it seems that not everybody is getting it, mostly folks outside U.S., and the Moto X is having a hard time to make it run.
As I always mod the Google Now to work on my mother language, I did a brief comparison between both new and old "StartupSettings.bin" and found a couple of new guys, but two caught my eye:
Code:
hotword_blacklisted_devices>XT1049,XT1050,XT1052,XT1053,XT1055,XT1056,XT1058,XT1060,XT912A
Those are all Moto X versions
and:
Code:
!relationships_peopleapi_http_path4https://www.googleapis.com/plus/v2whitelisted/people
which might be the "VIP" list to see if the user is eligible for the new feature.
Some guy from AndroidPolice assured that he could get the feature for a single-use only, if he logged out of Google Now, logged in and tried the feature out. After the first use, the feature would be removed, and all he'd get is the typical "OK Google" from the home screen.
What do you guys think? I'll try to set the whitelist to localhost here to see what happens.

Holy crap dude, it worked.
I modded Google Now to work with my Mother Language, pt-BR. I'll have a look to see if I make it able to work on pt-BR too. Every text and instructions are correct in this language, so it must only be a simple think.
Thank you!
------------------
Damn. It presents me the option to record my voice three times for later recognition, but it crashes just at the end.
So close..
------------------
So stupid! There's no need for this anymore. It has "two languages" now. I set the primary as English and the secondary as Portuguese (Brasil).
Works flawless! This is awesome. Thanks

Want to install a custom dialer on Pixel 4A

Hello guys.
I have been using 4A for about 6 months now. My calling is heavy due to nature of my work. However, I am really disappointed by the dialer which 4A comes with due to following reasons-
1. No unlimited call logs which is a very big bummer. It's such a basic thing any phone maker must provide.
2. Smart search from dialer is as bad as it can be. I'm coming from a Xiaomi phone and Google should really learn a few things how to make a dialer app. The search is billion times better in the latter.
3. Lack of call recording which I can live with but is desirable.
Basically I'm asking if I can install any third party dialer (preferably MiUI) ? I'm ready to root if it's needed.
Please help me. I'm on the verge of going back to my MIUI phone as my main phone just because of this crappy dialer.
PS: I can't go custom ROM way because I don't want to lose stock camera's quality.
Thanks

Try using TruePhone ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free ). I have call recording and I have never came to a situation where call log was too short - I have checked my favorite contact and I have log since I installed it.
P. S. U have root on my phone, but I am not convinced if it is needed. Try it as IMHO is the best dialer with tons on customization.

Hi,
Can you elaborate on these two?
I ask because if I click the middle "Recents" button at the bottom, the call log is very limited. But if I then click the three dot button in the top right and select "Call History", it will go back very far in time.
Also, what problems are you having with the smart search? Can you mention a couple of examples?

I did check the history and surprisingly found out today that my call records are only till 6th of April from today and then directly to Oct 2020. Don't know how is that possible, but this is what I found.
I'll explain my problem to you.
When I bought this phone, I had imported around 10k call logs records but when I used to check history of numbers I dial frequently, I came to know it's not storing unlimited history. Like the person whom I have called 20 times has only 2 entries in the log.
Until today I didn't know that history between 20 Oct 2020 to April 5, 2021 is missing. I don't have a sane explanation for this.
Regarding smart search, see following scenarios:
It doesn't search if I type keywords which are between the names. Eg name is John, if I type 646, it should show but it doesn't. It always search with first letter only, be it name or surname.
Second case.
I have a name saved called Prathmesh, my dialer always fails to show it. I dial 77284, it shows other relevant search results but not this and when I type next digit, no results at all. In the frequent updates of Google dialer phone app, after one particular update, it started searching but after next update again stopped. This is one example, I can give more.
Third case.
It doesn't search from unsaved numbers. Suppose I vaguely remember I had received a call from a number which had 5555 at last but couldn't exactly remember, there is no way I could find using Google dialer.

Thanks for app suggestion buddy.
It solved almost all of my problems.
Now I can search the way I want, can record calls, and possibly can store unlimited logs.
Thanks a ton again.

I was happy with the app but now call recording isn't working.
I have been using drupe dialer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.drupe.app&hl=en_US&gl=US) for many years to address exactly the problems that you have mentioned. You can give it a try. But here also, the inbuilt call recorder is not working with Pixel 4a. It used to work with my older Oneplus X.
