I am currently running unlocked s9+ on the Verizon network, latest unlocked firmware fixed FM radio did Verizon block the radio on their latest firmware? Want wifi calling but not if it means I lose the use of FM radio.
My radio still works on latest firmware
As far as I’ve read, unlocked phones on Verizon will never have WiFi calling natively. I hope I’m wrong though.
I bought this phone expecting it to have FM Radio since multiple spec sites said it does, and quite a few review videos on YouTube show the Radio app in the Samsung folder, but I bought it and it's nowhere to be found. It's not hidden in the system apps, I'm not able to get the Samsung Radio APK to install, and when I try to clone that APK, it keeps crashing. Is there any way to find out if my specific model has it, and if not, which model numbers of this phone DO support FM Radio

I just saw that the A52 includes radio. Since I only have the a52s and this model do not have radio I mistakenly concluded that the A52 also did not have radio. I was wrong, A52 LTE and A52 5G have FM radio.

I see, but my A52 5G doesn't have it, even though it says that it should and I have seen reviews on this phone that feature the stock Samsung Radio App. Do you know which model numbers of this phone support it?

I think it's a mistake in most medium in term of specification !
Samsung doesn't say anything about FM radio with this phone and I haven't seen a single youtube video or any reviews mentioning it has a FM radio...

There weren't any videos talking about FM Radio on this phone, but I did see a few reviews of this phone on YouTube, and in those reviews, when they would swipe up and show the app drawer, I would see the Stock Radio app in a folder labeled "Samsung"

Hmmmmm
Two theories :
- Might be an International model
- or this ain't be a FM Radio but an internet radio
What you can do is going into the Samsung app store and try to find out the radio app with the same icon...

Its not an internet radio thing, I have used that app before on a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and it's supposed to be a full fledge working FM Radio, and I looked up my Model and it says it's the American version of the Galaxy A52 5G (which is more evident bc when turning on the phone, the T-Mobile loading screen shows up). I already looked on the Galaxy Store and it is not on there. I downloaded the APK for that app and it wouldn't let me install it
GSMArena, https://www.gsmarena.com/ lists the A52 LTE and the A52 5G in the specs as having hardware FM radio. The A52s they say have no radio.

I know. I don't have the A52s, I have the A52S 5G. I specifically avoided the A52s because it did not have FM Radio capability
I have a 5G version (SM-A526B/DS) that as FM radio. I believe there's a 4G version also with it.

Only exist's 3 models - A52, A52 5G and A52s 5G, you are confused the A52 and A52 5G have radio, the A52s 5G don't have any radio hardware.
I have the SM-A526W, A52 5G (Canada), and there is no radio hardware or its hidden. I tried using NextRadio app which works with the tuner in your phone and it cannot detect the FM radio tuner in the phone.
I think the specs are wrong on the gsmarena site and others like it.....maybe I'm wrong though. If you have a a52 5g with a radio please let us know.
A52 LTE and A52 5G have FM radio.

Acabo de ver que el A52 incluye radio. Como solo tengo el a52s y este modelo no tiene radio llegué a la conclusión errónea de que el A52 tampoco tenía radio. Me equivoqué, A52 LTE y A52 5G tienen radio FM.

I can confirm this. Yes it does.
I posted this in July 2021 in this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fm-receiver-or-not.4307531/
I sent an inquiry mail to Samsung, and they answered me it was a regional/local thing : some have an FM radio chip and some don't have. I bought my A52 5G in France, and it has no radio. Whereas Belgian buyers have it...
A526u1 doesn't seem to have it.
Nextradio says it "doesn't have access to the FM radio receiver inside your device"
and to let your carrier know you'd like to use it.
By the wording the chip is there but, it is deactivated?
Dear friends,
I read on gsmarena that the A52 5g has an fm radio.
After that, I bought it here in Greece, but when I opened it, I didn't find a radio app.
I don't know if it has the fm radio chip.
Is there any chance it has it disabled and I can somehow enable it?
What do you say;
Thanks!

Maybe people should try to install Belgium firmware. FM radio usually requires some libs and permissions and if you're app is missing from the drawer, then most likely you don't have them so simply installing the FM radio app won't work.

There are in fact two 5G A52 Models with NO fm Radio.
Yours is unfortunately one of them.
1. Canada single SIM A52 A526W 5G- no fm radio
2. US single SIM A52 A526U 5G - no fm radio
I'm in Canada and found out the hard way. I bought a new US A52 A526U 5G off of Ebay and sure enough, no fm radio. Learned both models, US A526U 5G and Canada A526W 5G, don't have fm radio, even though online specs lists them as having fm radio.
BUT THESE 2 INTERNATIONAL Dual Sim models have FM radio:
3. A52 A526B/DS 5G (UK and international) double SIM.
YES it has FM radio. I bought one off Ebay from a UK seller, after reading these forums seeing people with model A526B report they have it, and sure enough, it has FM radio.
4. A52 A526M/DS LTE (4G) (certain latin America countries) double SIM.
YES it has FM radio. I reached out to Amazon seller and posted questions and all who bought that phone for sale, had FM radio installed.
*So, BUYERS BEWARE of both Canada single sim model A526W 5G and USA single sim model A526U 5G, as they do NOT have fm radio. (Yet specs list them as having it.)
*These for sure have fm radio. International Dual SIms have it. An international 5G (A526B/DS) and an international LTE (A5252M/DS),
*A525F/DS LTE is Europe, global, and International, so it might have fm radio as well, since London people are saying they have fm radio in the A525B/DS Europe, global, and International as well.
-Phonemore specs drop down lists the models. Click on the model drop down. But don't go by all the specs as said above, because 2 of their single SIM models (Canada and USA) are listed as having fm radio, and they don't have it.

While using location services on my 1 III I noticed that I am not able to receive any L5 GPS or E5a Galileo Satellites with my 1 III (XQ-BC52 FW 61.0.A.15.35 Android 11). Dual Band GNSS is very useful for improving accuracy in challenging terrains or situations (e.g. using location services in a train), which is explained here https://www.xda-developers.com/dual...location-feature-your-phone-probably-missing/. The lack of Dual Band GNSS for 1 III is suprising because not only do almost all High End Smartphones since 2020 come with it, the Xperia 1 III is even listed as being Dual Band Galileo Capable on the official European Union Galileo Info Page, a reliable source (see https://www.usegalileo.eu/EN/inner.html#data=smartphone or attached screenshot below). I've attached screenshots of GPS Data, GPSTest and Geo++ RINEX Logger, which are tools that can verify L5/E5a Band Reception on capable devices through the Android API. I tested outdoors in Germany on a cloudless sky, but wasnt able to catch a single L5 GPS/E5a Galileo Satellite in various scenarios.
My Question is if you guys can confirm this behavior for your Xperia 1 III (Use the Mentioned Tools from Play Store), preferably on Android 12 (I didn't update yet due to the incompatibility of Gravity Box with A12, maybe Sony added support for Dual Band via the Android 12 Firmware Update). If the stock firmware isn't able to process L5/E5a satellites (judging by the EU listing, the hardware is dual band capable and certified), maybe a modding guru can provide a guide for it. I have Root Access on my device and I am willed to test stuff if needed to make it work.
Thank you all very much in advance.
Best regards
The US model doesn't show dual bands either. I guess Sony's GPS is like their 5G - technically present but incomplete.
I have the same model as you, XQ-BC52, running the latest software A 12 61.1.A.7.35.
Getting the same results as you with GPS test. Have not tried the others (running Google free so it's a pain it it's not on f-droid).
Please post if you find a work around.
