So I rooted and deleted some apps from Samsung and T-mobile, my battery life is been really bad and I just checked the SU app to try and unroot and notice that this app keeps asking for root access but it's not even installed , any one knows what it is or if it could be the reason my phone doesn't for into deep sleep ?
Thanks

It's probably not the reason your phone isn't deep sleeping, mine isn't either. It's probably a check by T-Mobile to see if you've rooted the device, but it's probably included on all devices.

it is, and its easy to disable...
nothing to do with deep sleep though, because I had mine enabled the last few days, and I get about 70% or more deep sleep every night..
Also ... under app manager I have all this apps with the little android symbol , could it be from the Samsung apps I deleted ?
Oh man

In response to the poor battery life, disable Wi-Fi calling and Wi-Fi scanning. There's a bug that prevents the phone from entering deep sleep. I did and my battery life is great now.

WiFi scanning been disable since day one, and also is WiFi calling, I just switched to network only and see if that helps.

Today I got almost 2 hours of on screen time before I hit 3% after 9 hours. So I look in battery in settings and Android System is #1 at 57%! Then screen at 20%' followed by cell standby at 9%.
What is causing android system to take up 57% and cause barely 2 hour on screen time?
I had this issue too! after a reboot i havent had this issue agin
check what google services you have auto syncing. aka g+ calender and contacts those can make it really bad.

An app that misbehaves: Sync's data or runs in the background when you are not using it, wakes device during sleep (wakelock) and performs background operations. This could be any app or game you download, usually it is more common in free apps with unknown developers....make sure to check reviews before downloading.
It seems like the restart fixed it. After restart android system is 4th place at only 6%.
Its doing it again today. 67% of battery is android system.
Any help?
I have better battery stats but it's some what hard to understand.

Mobile data has been killing the battery on my AT&T Galaxy S3. I can always tell because it gets warm even with the screen off. The only way I can stop the drain is to turn off mobile data which is not a long-term fix. I can't understand why some days I get amazing battery life, and some days I get a few hours only.
Use juice defender, I've used it for years, it turns off mobile data when the screen is off and re enables it on a schedule you set. It's the only long term fix I have found. Since calls and texts come through 2g this should fix your problem.

Ok, I now personally hate the two words "What's" and "best" in the same sentence. Although, this wasn't a question where the answer is personal. Wifi on as soon as you can have wifi is the better choice. Having wifi on but not being connected to a wifi network isn't good. Mobile data (3G) drains more battery than Wifi.
I only asked because on my sgs1, it was true. But on my sgs3 and initially it was draining the battery and a lot of us compared screen shots of the battery slopes. We all noticed it drained during the times wifi was kept on during sleep.
Well that was when the phone first came out. Flash forward to today I'm on omega 27.2 and gave it a try last night. To my surprise it didn't drain. I'm just wondering if I'm experiencing a placebo or not.
P. S. I also hate you too ;p

Maybe I'm not doing enough to drain my battery, seem to be getting excellent life without a battery app...or could be because I'm comparing to my Thunderbolt! Lol
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I tried it but uninstalled it rather quickly. I didn't even have it installed long enough to tell how much difference it made.
After it got out of its "learning" phase, it consistently turned off my GMail push notifications, despite telling it not to, and turned my wifi on all the time. I was getting 2 days of battery life with the phone without the app, so I figured it wasn't worth the effort for me.
re
I have been using it for 5 days and I agree, it works fairly well besides WiFi. Any savings seem to be offset by the constant turning on. Try putting a WiFi widget on your homescreen and manually controlling WiFi, and let the app do everything else.

What exactly is bad about the wifi control? Does turning off at night stop you from getting notifications (ie. email)?
I actually prefer to be on wifi since I'm on a limited shared plan.
I have been using it for over a month and have had no issues with wifi. I usually finish the day with over 60% battery left. That is 13 hours before i put it on the charger.

big difference prior to using the app?
I actually just leave wifi on.. maybe that's why I only get 3 hours of screen time versus other people who get 4 or 5..
I uninstalled it a couple minutes ago lol. Makes my Google Now notifications that tell me when to leave like an hour late. Not cool :crying:
Not to mention how annoying it is to connect to the WiFi at my local McDonalds because it's called "dlink," the default name, which makes my phone "learn" to connect to every dlink. Ugh.
Mine has been in learning mode for like 2 weeks now... I don't know what the deal is... Doesn't really seem to be doing anything at all if you ask me.

I tried every battery saving app and at the end it came up that the radio consumes most of the juice. 2000+ wakelocks for couple hr standby. Something is clearly not right. We will see how would it go with Kit Kat. Right now it feels like you have Htc One with those 4hr screen time.
Edit:
Made some test.
Charged it to 100%. Then i browsed till it gone to 70%. And guess what, i have almost 3hr of screen time..... crazy....

Actually it's the same with all these "battery saving" apps. They use significantly more juice with their background monitoring than they'll ever save, and most of what they do are either unecessary or common sense. They're like task killers.

So I'm starting to notice that my screen will not shut off unless I shut it off with the power button...I have it set to shut off after 30secs...but after that time the screen only dims down and doesn't shut off to the lock screen...I have nothing set up like no auto brightness or anything...seems like a reboot will fix it for awhile but then it does it again...even on charger it'll just dim down and not shut off...am I missing something here? :/

My only guess is maybe if you're using a different launcher it could mess up the screen timeout.
I'm using the LG 4.0 launcher from their website...the phone will be fine after a reboot for awhile and then it will do it again...I've already factory reset it...is there a way to check wakelocks without root? Bc even when the screen is off I notice my battery drops like I don't think it should so I'm wondering if it's a rogue app causing issues tho I have the same apps on here that I had on my g3 without problems...

Although it sounds like this is probably happening when you aren't charging as well, I use the "Stay awake" located in "Developers options" to keep my screen on while plugged in (this does not affect time out when not plugged in). It dims but does not turn off with this setting. It may be worth checking if this option is ticked for you.
As others have said, there is a possibility of the launcher interfering, or perhaps whatever app you are currently running.
Restarting is not a sane solution, so I'd suggest if all else fails, perhaps seeing if this would be covered under warranty.

I also had the same issue. What I did was I went to the battery settings ang manually stop each app listed in the battery usage. And as what I've observed, the app causing it is Spotify. I don't know why spotify does this though.
Has this ever been solved?
