Hey guys,
So I updated to 5.0.2, installed twrp & rooted, and installed adaway with symlink (I'm S-ON) but i'm still getting ads in chrome. Any ideas?
Thanks!
You have the latest adaway? I don't think I'm using the latest but it's working for me but then again I'm s-off on 5.0.2.

I ended up using Adfree, which seems to be working fine, not sure why Adaway wouldn't work

Total n00b question: If I install this over my stock rooted odexed 1.13 version, will it update like an OTA, or will it wipe everything like switching between roms?

I'll wipe just like switching roms.
Does anyone think that our remap of the buttons is better than htc's since I can't get the menu pop up on the homescreens with htc's way?

It blocks wifi, use it for educational purposes only and not to piss off your friends, co-workers, etc!

You have to flash the boot.img through fastboot for it to boot if you're on the 1.15 HBOOT with S-ON (there are also other methods, but that's the most basic one everyone should learn).
This is my daily driver. Thanks!
I took the latest latest OTA to 2.13 and then HTCDev unlocked so I'm S-ON but rooted with TWRP 2.2... Should I have any issues with this?... Wiping data is not an issue since I just did the HTCDev method last night... I'm contemplating ROMs since I'm now bone stock and haven't rebuilt my apps list
Running super smooth so far and look at all this free ram

If you took the OTA, then you really have no need of this ROM. Just flash the SuperSU zip in recovery and you're rooted and ready to go.

Please excuse my noobish question, but my HTC ONE is currently rooted on 4.1.2 and I am wondering what is the easiest method to update it to 4.2.2 without having to use OTA, which I can't anyways.
Thanks!
Flash a Rom that is 4.2.2. I think the update is barely starting to roll out internationally and might be awhile until ATT gets it.

In addition to just rooting the phone, you need to unlock the bootloader, flash a different recovery and then flash a ROM that uses 4.2.2. I prefer ARHD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
This ROM gives you 4.2.2 with full sense 5.0 experience without all the bloatware that your carrier most likely installed on your phone. :good:

Sorry I don't have a solid answer for you because as soon as I got my phone, I installed ARHD prior to installing anything on my phone. My guess is YES you will need to redo everything.
I'm currently running the GE gtc one ROM. If you want that.

If say use helium to back it up while you aren't rooted and after that titanium works better, that's what I did anyway

Hi. I'm new to the HTC One family. I bought a used rooted unit on Swappa and flashed the Google Play Edition on the phone, which was great, until I installed an over-the-air update, which was unavoidable. I'm now running Android 4.3 Build # JWR66v.H10. When I go to Bootloader mode, it says the phone is unlocked and tampered. When I go to use superuser it tells me the phone is not rooted.
How do I get the bootloader to not be tampered? Do I need that to be fixed to root again? How do I re-root? I'd like to not receive these OTA updates as well, to avoid problems in the future.
All help and suggestions are appreciated!
just reflash SuperSU for your device and you should be rooted again, for the tampered i believe you have to flash the RUU to get that back to stock android and stock bootloader.

Its gonna say tampered if you have tampered with the stock recovery haha.
You can either go s-off to get rid of that or go back to full stock.
And ya just flash latest superSU and you should be rooted.
beamed from space.
no dice

Hmmm ya that's weird. If you looking for the Google edition experience I'd recomend sinless rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348176
In my opinion no other GE rom even compares.
I believe its on the most current GE base so you shouldn't have any ota isssues.

Yes, but the versions used are now old.
You need twrp ver. 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4 and supersu zip version 1.93
for kitkat
Hi, I just updated to 5.0.2. and on TWRP 2.7.0.2. Flashed SuperSU but still not rooted for some reason. Any help would be nice. Do I need to update my TWRP for Lollipop? Thanks.
Update: I flashed the lastest TWRP but still no root access. I even tried the toolkit. Seems like I'm the only one having this issue because I don't see any other threads related to this.

The thing is that when I nand back to 4.4.4. I'm rooted. I had to reroot when I up from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. using the SuperSU file that I've always had and it's fine. It's just when I jump to 5.0.2. that I have an issue.
I could try that link but I had already tried a file from that site so I'm not sure it's gonna be any different.
Last resort would to do your RUU hboot single file sdcard method which I don't mind since I wanted a fresh install when Lollipop drop anyways. I just hope I get root access though or I might have to go back to 4.4.4. which looks plain now after a little taste of lollipop.

So here's the thing... You have the same phone I used to make the ruu. I took the OTA....flashed the latest twrp....then flashed the latest supersu from the link above. That's how I get my stock rooted base to start working with.
It has to be the most recent versions of SuperSU (and TWRP, you should read up on that for a number of good reasons), otherwise rooting will not work. Things changed between KK and LP and superSU straight up told me to use a more up to date version.

Well I know your method is gonna work and I probably will do it. I'm just surprised after several years rooting my phones that I'm having this issue right now.
I downloaded that supersu file you linked and I guess it's a differ version. I was using v1.94 when v2.46 was out. Smh. Thanks for all of your help.

Thanks, I just realized this and then read your post. Funny thing is they I was on chainfire's site earlier today and somehow I managed to download an outdated file still. I was skimming through some of the newer M8 threads and was trying to look for the heading of lollipop and root. I didn't see any and was getting frustrated. Wish I would of known about this a day ago, would of saved me a few hours. I kinda figure something changed with lollipop and the old supersu method wasn't working.

Remember that most versions (at least the Euro ones, which probably make up most of the users in the non-carrier specific M8 forum) updated to Lollipop in January, and that is when the root issue first arose. It simply was not rootable for a short time, until chainfire figured it out and updated the SuperSU binary.
So unless you dug back pretty far, it would have been easy to miss.
Boot to twrp and flash this zip to reroot. It's that easy.
Thanks so much. You were so damn right. It was just that easy.☻
