Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [SOURCES][DEVONLY] CyanogenMod 12.1. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Embedded Developer want to help.
Hi everyone. I want to get in and help.
Hi,
if you want to help get the sources and build a ROM. You can find the instructions for the device here:
https://git.cryptomilk.org/projects/android/android_device_samsung_slte.git/tree/README?h=cm-12.1
Then look at the TODO list and start to fix issues. Let me know which one you want to work on and I can give you some hints what you need to do.
compiling
can anyone compile the source code for me or can anyone tell me what to do?
sorry
i've found the read me now
It looks like, the instructions are for cm 11, but the title says it's 12.1 How can i compile cm 12.1? (sorry if im wrong, I am a noob at CyanogenMod)
Download
People saying that the CM 12.1 is not out. But why can i donwload it from the here:
https://git.cryptomilk.org/projects/android/android_device_samsung_slte.git/snapshot/android_device_samsung_slte-cm-12.1.zip
Or is this not the final?
it's 6.8mb, can't be a rom
Yes :/
current situation
can u tell us now which bugs still exist from the already known ofc!! i would like to help but i want details about the current status of the rom !! ty
Not sure if you ever got the requested information about the MTP vendor & product IDs. In short, I get this:
Vendor: 04e8
Product: 6860
I also can provide the full print-out of lsusb for this device, if needed.
Galaxy ALPHA "internals" .... it's memory technology
Hi,
I'm new and I'm carefully following this CM port since I believe this phone (G850F) has some key advanced features which were missed by the mainstream user.
Behind the external design what makes the ALPHA amazing is the technology SAMSUNG used to package its Exynos. This implementation of the 5430 has 4 DRAM & 4 FLASH DIEs stacked with TSV. The DRAMs are implemented using Samsung's flagship Widcon I/O technology!! The connections between the DRAM chips and the Memory Controller are offering a Wide I/O path and I strongly believe there is one DRAM controllers per DIE. This means that memory accesses are arbitrated VERY efficiently allowing the CPU to extract an high amount of SUSTAINED bandwidth from the DRAMs. Please have a look at this link from chipworks: https://chipworks.secure.force.com/catalog/ProductDetails?sku=SAM-KMR2W0009M-A803
Hope this info will get everybody more excited!
Regards
pventi
have anyone tryied this rom on SM-G850m?
dont even think about it,you will lose only time fo flashing it & after that you will immediately back to 444
maybe in this atempt lose IMEI
Hello is the application boot times better than stock? For example how long it takes to load subway surfers, because with the stock rom it takes about 10 seconds

Non-working functions are due improper implementation of hardware drivers(working on it)
Right now ill be commiting changes to the device config but due to hardware limitations
it takes lot of time to compile a build.
If you have sufficient hardware resources(RAM,space, cores)
you can clone my repo ,download and build the Cyanogenmod source and test it on your phone
PM me for any queries

I'm think cause 2.3 and 2.2 have most possibility to use in stable. Viewpad 7 is to old to play around. And if this device have rom that can use maximum hardware's can do and stable. I think maybe we can see Viewpad7's ICS ROM in real life.
Sorry for my weak english.

Tnie device seems too weak for ics, its a single core 600mhz armv6 CPU.
ics think it wil work on oure device it`s been ported too the x8 to and that`s a arm v6 600 mhz to,
but im happy with 2.3.7
Well, as long as I get 7.1 I'm happy. I still think having it ported is one thing but having it work flawlessly for everyday use is another.
Is wifi working yet? I've seen some commits on github but haven't seen any updates to the update.zip file in the first post.
*edit* where is the update.zip, exactly? Can't seem to find it on the first post anymore
Also, the sensors readout for screen orientation should be somehow flipped or mangled, for by default the device seems to be in landscape mode and if turned to portrait, it flips upside down for me.
hi
really appreciate you looking into porting this to the viewpad/variants etc
hope it goes well, looking forward to a little added ooompf,
(though [ROM]EUViewpad7 v1.7b has been great too)
@googlehome how's the progress?
@anyone I'm a programmer but i'm new to this android build compilation etc. Could anyone point me to tutorial or manual on how to these and those? Thx.
Yes, viewpad 7 seems to weak for ICS... We didn't even get honeycomb (3.X)
Dear Santa...
I'll be happy just with 2.3 and using my front camera with skype or gtalk...
Happy Holidays
Thank for hardwork
Hi
I think Gingerbread is perhaps as far as this device will go - in terms of functionality and "useablilty" - sure I'm sure ICS will "go on" if attempted but i'm pretty sure will fail to be useful (and if someone proves me wrong then I still win as I'll use it)
anyway keep up the good work with this gingerbread attempt - I'm hoping it goes well
Any news for the new year?
Hello there guys,
As we all know we only have 3? 4? developers for the HOX+ . And they are really doing all they can to help keep the phone upto date.
But as we all know they are all busy and can't update their roms that much any longer.
EDIT: Lloir already has a guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187266 but I don't think he covers how to fix camera and gps and stuff
So! Is it possible to make guide on how to compile the rom from the source? I know tombridden and lloir already made a one post guide on how to build some roms but it was too specific.
I now have an extra machine (a laptop) with 500gb free storage and ubuntu as the main OS. It's quite powerful too with 6gb RAM and i7. So Why not use it to help the community while others are busy? In the meantime I will look around for some guides for other phones but I don't think they will help that much.
And please include the answers to those questions if you make a guide:
1- What to do to fix camera/GPS/wifi/Data/sensors ?
2- What approach should I take when compiling a new ROM. For example: there are no developers for PACMAN , how will it differ during compiling between it and AOKP/CM/AOSP .
I am talking about a rom that wasn't approached by Lloir so he won't have the repos for them. What to do then?
Thanks a lot and I can't wait to help
@Lloir @tombriden @PippoX3 @mike1986. and any other developer out there.
you can start by looking at XDA-University
The reply is correct. All of us moved first steps studying at XDA University.
Anyway the case is more complex than others.
For this device there are really few developers. Other device have a lot of support from constructors, many dev and the team-work result in a lot of kernels/roms to flash for the final user.
If you wanna taste the happyness for build a rom, I'll send you a guide to setup your ubuntu, download the sources and build.
But in this case, where enrc2b is not officially support, the things are more difficult.
You must have a minimal practical with java, cpp, android and kernel code (if so).
For the moment I'm in trouble to build an AOKP 4.2.2 with new kernel. I haven't device to try, 'cause the hard is build&&try continuosly.
Not the fact to have a pc turned on for hours and hours.... and the eyes&&mind open for hours and hours... but the patience to continuously try time after time.
Now I am in a dead point... many users like have S2W enable on new CM kernel... but.... the kernel won't!
Thanks a lot anyway. Thanks to @Lloir, @tombriden, @maxwen and alls who's workin' for this device.
Stay tuned....

I also have Oracle java installed. Do I have to have open JDK?

Now that we begin to have a solid CM base, will possible to build at least CM for enrc2b for noobs too.
And eventually "port" device/kernel" parts to others platforms. So who like e.g. PA can do...
If you agree, I can paste my personal appoints to a guide, from client setup (Sun java don't works) to the build zip rom.
Updated and corrected to last KK.

Hy desalesouche !
I've read a little bit about UKSM and it might not be as beneficial as it seems. Indeed, it may improve the RAM usage at the cost of more processing power, thus draining battery faster and reducing the overall smoothness.
But if you happen to have (real world) benchkmarks to prove me wrong I would be glad to see them
Anyway, thanks a lot for your hard work and please keep it up

PA ROM still worked on ?
Hi desalesouche, me again ! (still being discriminated against by the 10-posts-rule....)
Just wondering, any chance to have PA rom updated to Beta 5 before Blefish releases anything ? Or maybe to have some of these cool looking patches included ?
@desalesouche is your local_manifest.xml updated? Can I use it to build rom for honor? and what shall I use: u8860 or honor while building?
Also, which java version do you use to build android L? If java 7, do you have any problems with building 4.4 roms?

U8860 Lollipop
yeah thats a very good idea starting a new thread for this.
I would suggest 'Lollipop for Huawei U8860' or 'Android L for Huawei u8860'
It would be better to keep the name u8860 coz there are too many versions of honor now.
Anyway it name doesnt really matter that much. I'm just waiting for the Lollipop update.
What's the best and more stable Rom to install? I just want something that don't give me problems
Possible bug in KitKat 4.4.4 for U8860 (Cyanogenmod 11)
It seems that ALL camera apps that I have tried write the wrong date/time into the EXIF data of the JPEG files.
The fact that so many cameras behave the same way suggests to me that some core library may be at fault.
Does anyone else see this?
The data/time written into the EXIF is ALWAYS the same.
The DateTimeOriginal and DataTimeDigitized are ALWAYS
2002:12:08 12:00:00
Thanks,
David Armitage

ALL: Google is again playing games and locked down the first of my 3 donation apps in Playstore. Of course no compelling reason provided.
But as I already prepared for that half a year ago, I would like to remind you to use your personal unlock key to gain donation functionalities.
If you have not yet generated (this can be done in the donation app itself) and entered it into Boeffla-Config, it is now urgent to do that!!!
I cannot ensure Google will not lock down the other two donation apps as well soon, so you should be prepared now.
From my side, next Boeffla-Config app version will not support these donation apps anymore but only personal unlock codes.
Also, I will replace remaining donation apps in Playstore very soon (today or tomorrow) with a dummy app that tell users to get in touch with me manually.
Thanks for understanding... and alohas Google, all done wrong, guys there.
Cheers

Is it compatible?
I'm looking for a custom kernel for battery and performance. My battery drains so fast, I'm using CM11. Is this compatible?
Model Number: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.4.4
Kernel version: 3.0.64-CM-g4ca83ff [email protected] #1
Please suggest the settings too. Thanks!
Boeffla kernel 2.4 is rock solid and the config app that goes with it is excellent
My battery was lasting about
half a day to a day if lucky
Best thing I done was get a new battery. I went with Zero Lemon 2300mah. Its the same physical size as stock battery but I get 2 days easy on cm11
So I would spend a few dollars on a battery.
Your work is amazing Lord Boeffla. This is the best kernel. It has everything. And we don't need any more features. Cm12 is almost here. Hoping you could start with the Lollipop kernel. already there are Lollipop daily drivers for the I9300. Missing your kernel.

However, I will not start my work based on some inofficial sources. This could be, in worst case, a waste of time in the end.
Once the first official nightly for cm12 arrives, I will jump on the train and try to include all features of the cm11 kernel again.
So, stay tuned!

Your KERNEL is "THE KERNEL" for the i9300.
As the tagline for the S3 goes "Designed for humans"

I have the same problem. I have resurrection remix lollipop 5.2.5 and when I install the boeffla kernel It doesn't boot , it shows the samsung logo but never proceed to the RR boot animation.
I tried both versions of the kernel NG and Only Cm12.
I tried clearing dalvik and cache after / before installing the kernel and even with installing the ROM. And nothing helps.

Boeffla Config V2 LMK settings
Hi Andi/all,
In the Kernel config. app, are LMK values displayed as 4 times of values actually written to minfree parm file? Because I have observed that when I set, say 150MB for an app category and check minfree parm, it gets stored as 37.5MB equivalent KBs.
Just wanted to confirm, if it is as expected or a bug
Many thanks,
Mandar
Update: in minfree parm, values are stored as number of 4K pages.
Correct, the minfree parameter works with 4k pages.
Andi
yay, thanks!
You are doing fantastic work
I am having graphics glitches while using this kernel with cm12 BETA 5 and Temasek's cm12 v4.5 ! Anyone has any idea how to fix this ?! Thank you
Yes, there is no real solution. Cm12 is brand new, not even in nightly status. Expect bugs for now.

For Android 4.4, Slim required a different kernel than a CM kernel, it required an Omnirom one.
I do not know, but might be the same for SlimLP probably.
Then the sad news is - have no Omnirom LP based equivalent at the moment, and also not planned in near future.

Bugs
Hey There,
I also posted some bugs in the Bug Report Section of this Thread.
I couldn't write into the main thread because of not having enough posts.
I am totally happy with this rom and I would like to thank you for the amount of work you invested into giving my reliable phone new life and i love to use it with your rom.
The things you mentioned are of course correct, but my camera is working, despite of what you wrote in the main thread.
I am using this rom daily and so i will try to add things into the bug section once bugs appear.
Keep up the good work

@Lloir
Are you planning an aosp rom?
I'm just dubious about cyanogenmod after the 1+1-cyanogen fiasco.
Thank you.

Hi Lloir, sorry for my english (I'm from Russia). You will not tell me how to fix the translation (in the settings in Russian is not written anywhere). I have another problem: How can I disable the flashing of the touch buttons when I receive a notification when the screen is locked?

Hey Lloir,
Installed the latest build, it's working great so far.
Three things I noticed :
1. Sometimes the phone is slow for around a minute or two after waking it up (it starts working properly again eventually).
2. USB storage is not always recognized by the PC (I have to plug/unplug a few times).
3. Can't copy files to storage/emulated/legacy (I had to copy Titanium back-ups elsewhere and use a custom path to restore apps). Also, when trying to access from device, it's password protected.
Other than that, everything works great. Thanks for bringing 5.0 to the One X+.
