Lollipop: PIN unlock vs. Device Encryption Password - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a Lollipop based 2nd Gen Moto E phone. I want to set up a Full-device Encryption password and use a (different) PIN as my screen unlock. Does anyone know how to do this?
FWIW, I had exactly this setup with CM on my old Galaxy S3, and I would like it again.

[Q] Is it possible to bypass screenlock without any preparation?

My friend recently took my galaxy core (running android 4.1.2) and bypassed my PIN lock in a minute. He only told me that there is "a special code" to bypass any android lock. Is it true? Is my phone isn't safe anymore?

Question: Changing the PIN/pass on Marshmallow

Dear Experts,
I experimented the last few days with a few ROMs.
I went for device encryption.
On Android 5 it always forces to set a password.
On Android 6 it is possible to use either a password or a PIN code. I entered a password first. After the encryption went through, I decided to change it for a code. This went flawlessly, till I restarted the phone. Then before loading the OS it asks of course for a password. To my surprise, it did not take neither the new code, nor the old password and I had to reflash the entire ROM.
Does anyone have an explanation ? As far as I googled, it should be possible to change the password... What did I do wrong ?

Rooted MUIU 11, Reverting to stock, boot pin still active

Hi - I have a Poco F1 running 11.0.9 with MUIU EU and Magisk 25.1. I'd like to remove the pin check at boot so that I can sell the device (I don't want to deal with locking the bootloader again). Is there a way to remove the pin? Under Developer Options, I see the "Encrypt device using Lock screen password" is disabled. Do I need to enable/disable it, or..?
Any suggestions are appreciated! This is a great device I just don't play pogo anymore
SOLVED: enable-then-disable did the trick.

Secure while bootloader unlock

I have a few questions about being secure and things with the bootloader, and stuff like that.
#1: Is there anyway to be secure or thiefproof or even law enforcement proof with an unlocked bootloader?
#2: How does encryption work on Android. It Full disk encryption forced on by default, because I don't see the option anymore (except for SD card) How does it work? Does it encrypt the device till turned on? Till lock code in entered? Is it only there when there's a lock code? Does it work like Bitlocker?
#3: I wanna unlock my bootloader and install Lineage or Graphene OS. Since I can't relock the bootloader with custom rom or recovery (considering I have AT&T LG G8 THINQ and Xperia 5 II) can't anyone just flash TWRP or something, and even if the data's encrypted, just delete the security settings to bypass the lockscreen as shown in MANY tutorials and get to all my sensitive info and functions that way?

how do I unlock a Samsung galaxy A10?

I am completely new to this community. But, I have a Samsung galaxy A10; that is currently locked and can not be unlocked, as no one knows the password or the details for the google account that is connected to it. I don't want to have to pay to have it unlocked. So, I was wondering if there is anyway to unlock the phone without it. I have tried to factory reset it but that just brings me back to a screen saying I have to input a password or log into a google account to continue. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
never mind I figured it out this tutorial told me how.(you do not need a sim card by the way)
