Hi,
owning Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) I tried to flash it to Lolipop 5.1
I downloaded cm-11-20150406-nightly-i1900.zip and ga_gapps-modular-mini-5.1-20150404-signed.zip
whiped data and cache.
Could not wipe dalvic cache, because there was no advanced option available.
Tried to install the nightly.zip
Error Message: E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (Status 7)
then I tried to install the gapps.zip
Error Message: E:failed to verify whole-file-signature
Now what to do?
Please help!
PS Soory but I accidentally posted also on general XDA Assist

First cm11 is not lollipop, its kitkat. But if you want that rom its fine.
It sounds like you have an older recovery. Flash the newest recovery of cwm or philz, or whatever you prefer. Then reboot back into recovery. Also depending on what rom you are coming from you probably need to do a full wipe before you flash those files. Format system, data, wipe cache/dalvik. And I would recommend wipe cache amd dalvik after flashing as well, then reboot into system.
Problems with modding my Galaxy SII
Hi,
ah the first mistake.: I really wanted lollypop ( this was the reason why I started all this) and I looked for it but still got the wrong file
I just went to: download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i9100&type= and took the latest file.
I still don't get the meaning of getting a new recovery: where do I go for this and how do I do it?
I just switched off my phone and started in recovery mode then wiped the data and the cache.
Could not wipe dalvic cache, because there was no advanced option available???
So how should I do it?

First of all, relax.
Second, you can't just go around and blatantly download the latest file you see hoping for it to be a lollipop version rom. You have to read around and actually make sure what it is your downloading. You only get one chance cause if you screw up badly - hardbrick.
BTW, you won't find any lollipop ROMs on that site as there is no longer any official CM roms for S2. You can get unofficial builds from Galaxy S2 Android Development section and also kernels in the same area.
Before you flash a lollipop rom, you must first have a compatible kernel for it. Go around, read in Lollipop rom threads and see if you can find a compatible kernel for lollipop. Then go about and flash your ROM.
Good luck.
Problemss with modding my Galaxy SII
Ok, did my homework.
Installed CWM-based Revovery v6.0.4.5 via odin
Wiped all data and cache partition
Wiped dalvic cache
Installed cm-12.1-20150408-UNOFFICIAL-i9100.zip
installed pa_gapps-modular-mini-5.1-20150404-signed.zip
Everything worked fine
Then tried to reeboot system.
After a while the Samsung Logo with an exclemation mark appeaered and a bit later the last screen (with reboot system now) reappeared and that was it.
Whiped the two caches again - no change.
What did go wrong or what is missing?
When I go to -report error it shows:
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log Please open ROM Manager to report the issue.

Hi everyone,
I've installed ICS domination theme on my SGS2 with litening rom 6.1 installed on it.
After the installation, i've got a boot loop with a strange pop up which is
" Select an action
----------------------------------------------
Select an application for the USB device."
So I've wiped user data from the CWM recovery and I tried to install back my insecure rom (litening rom) with odin and also the original one.
The phone reboot well but i still get the pop up and i can't do anything ...
Is there a way to format and start from scratch or a another solution to remove this pop up ?
PS: i don't mind losing all my data.
PS2: sorry for the picture's bad quality (i took from my webcam ...)

Thanks for the quick reply !
I said i don't mind (or care) about losing data.
I don't have the mount storage and any format system (otherwise i would have already tried it ) on CWM ... I only get :
-reboot system
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
My android system recovery is 3e version

Thanks for the link.
I have succeeded into formating my system then reflash the original rom but now it is stuck at the first black screen with the "samsung galaxy s2" written on it.
So i format system again, format data, cache and reflash the rom ... same thing happened

yeah sorry about that realised later.
Try wiping from CWM or flashing official stock firmware all over again
I have fixed my problem.
It was soft bricked so I have follow one thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
Anyway, thanks everyone for answering me !
I'm currently getting strange issue while flashing ROM from CWM recovery and in process of finding solution for the same. Meanwhile, I thought it would be better to create a thread so that anyone else who has same issue as me will find it useful or someone who has solution can guide me.
Phone Details
S2 with 32GB Class 4 memory card
Issue Description/Repro Steps
Issue started when I moved from CheckROM v6(GB-Siyah 2.6.1) to I9100DXLP9 (4.0.3).
Steps:
1) Flashed DXLP9 through ODIN(went smoothly), rooted with CF root v5.4 given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 thread.
2) Used Triangle away to reset binary counter
3) Rebooted in recovery, wiped data/cache/dalvik cache, now while wiping dalvik cache I got an error E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext], but dalvik cache got wiped.
4) Now flashed Foxhound ICS ROM and rebooted.
5) Bootloop
6) Again repeated Steps 1-3
7) Now flashed Hydrogen ICS 4.0.4 and reboored..still bootloop
8) went to download mode, Repeated steps 1-3 again
9) Now, decided to investigate this issue little in detail and noticed that while wiping data partition through CWM was giving this error:
Failed to mount /data/.android_secure
So, this was the culprit, if data partition isn't getting wiped that means CWM is not able to write on it either but ODIN is
10) So, to experiment flashed Hydrogen ICS through CWM -> rebooted phone -> checked that bootloop was still there -> put phone in download mode and Flashed Siyah 3.1.2
11) Voila!!!! phone booted successfully with Hydrogen ICS ROM, also strangely binary counter was not increased
But Step 11 is still a workaround for ROM flashing issue, I still need to flash kernel separately after flashing ROM.
Any suggestions/questions are most welcome
Hoping to resolve this issue soon!!!
Try this:
1 Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik,
2 Install from sd card in CWM this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738.
3 Install the rom.
You may have to format /system by going under "mount and storage"

Reflash a CWM and Root Kernel should have been the next step

@JJ
Already tried those steps..still result is same.
I'm beginning to think that somehow data partition has become corrupt(same like Siyah rc6 issue) and it can only be flashed via ODIN. Still, mystery is how my binary counter is not getting increased when I Flash kernel via odin
I have installed CM10.1 rom in Galaxy S3 i9300 and later i had installed the gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip. From then I am getting the error "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped. I guess the gapps is incompatible with the CM version.
I am unable to ROM again as the SDcard is not able to mount in CWM recovery.
Pl. help me to solve this by either uninstalling the current gapps or doing a fresh ROM, i am not able to proceed to do anything on the phone.
Thanks
wipe system, wipe data, flash CM, boot up, get the correct gapps

Hi guys! I've been trying for the last hours to install Cyanogenmod 11 on a friend's S3 international (i9300). After some driver problems CM now installs fine, but after the installation finishes and the phone reboots the phone reverts to Samsung's stock firmware. Even though I select yes at the question that should prevent stock recovery from occurring.
I have tested every solution I could find out there to prevent this:
1. After CM setup finishes, I pull the battery and start the phone in Clockworkmod by holding Vol-up+home+power. Then I have wiped the cache, data and dalvik cache and rebooted. Still reverting to stock.
2. I have tried rooting the phone and removing /system/etc/install-recovery.sh using Root explorer before starting the installation. There was however no file /system/recovery-from-boot.p which was also mentioned in som guides.
Nothing seems to work.
I can't understand that I'm the only one having this problem. Is there a solution out there? Thanks!

1.Root your phone.
2.Install latest CWM or TWRP.
3.Boot into recovery.
4.Wipe Data/Factory reset.
5.Wipe cache.
6.Wipe dalvik cache.
7.Install ZIP from sdcard.
8.Choose your downloaded CM.
Good luck

Thanks! The reason I did not do this before was that I am not really comfortable installing manually and was afraid to brick the phone (since it's not mine). But I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly
It's a shame that the automatic installer can't handle this though.

Haha! Actually you won't brick your device by installing a ROM for your device. You can only brick it by flashing a ROM from other device without porting it, and I think this will be then only soft-bricked. A hard-brick can be done by flashing basebands from different devices. But I hope you won't do that
Actually by installing a ROM only your system(apps, vendor files, tweaks, etc.) and boot partition(kernel, etc.) will be overwritten. And that won't hard-brick your device
But I can understand your fear. I was same as you when I was a beginner
Hello!
Today i was trying to install custom rom 6.0+ or higher on my brother phone (i9100) I found a tutorial on this page:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-tutorial-samsung-galaxy-s2-i9100-t3538601

And there is... A point 4. After changing from ext4 to f2fs data and cache i saw an error e:/data cant mount same with cache.I decided to wipe cache but i couldnt, so i downloaded stock rom and i flashed it by odin after that i hear only samsung startup sound and bootlooping logo. When im going to recovery error with cache dissapered but with data its still visible. E:/data cannot mount (invalid argument)
And now there is a question can i do something to rescue my brother phone? Its really important for me guys pls help me.

Why don't you use a different odin version may be much older one or newer one and by the way did u download the right firmware from the right source? Verify whatever I mentioned and give it a try with older odin,or simply follow some YouTube video! Thank me if I had helped you!
Ok i repaired this errors in recovery i install right kernel agaim from this pack (link above) next i install twrp and wipe data cache and other stuff, and when i flashed resurection remix with gapps(and without) my phone get bootloop. I tried cachce data dalvik wipe- doesnt work i tried to flash again this room still bootloop.
How can i repair this? Should i flash by odin stock rom?

Try going back to ext4 format instead of f2fs.
If that doesn't work, try flashing stock via Odin then start over with the guide, I believe there is an updated way to upgrade that has the rePIT built in, try finding it and use that guide.
