I upgraded to the Rezound from a Thunderbolt and now I have to press a stupid "Show HTML images" button on all HTML formatted emails! I have a corporate Exchange account, and my Thunderbolt did not intrude on my email viewing with this irritating request for every blessed email, nor did my iPhone prior to the Thunderbolt.
What can be done to stop this bad behavior? Can Sense be modified either in the current 3.5, or can HTC fix this in the new 4.0 for ICS? Or, is there a root required mod to be made? It should have a global setting, just like MS Outlook offers, to either require acknowledgement for each HTML email, or not. To require it for each email even if the user does not want it is absurd.
They also broke the hardware back arrow functionality, so now when you are in any folder other than the Inbox and press the back arrow you are ejected from the program, instead of being returned to the Inbox, as it was in the Thunderbolt.
How can we ensure that these problems are fixed in the next version of Sense? Does HTC fix the problems which they create in new versions when they release the next edition, or do developers need to mod the program to fix HTC errors?
Go into your settings for the Exchange account. In the Send and Receive settings change the Include File Attachment to "Always".
See if that helps for new emails.

I tried most of the settings, and none seemed to stop the button from popping up on any HTML emails, even those which I have already viewed and clicked the button for!
I have not had this problem since I had the old Win Mobile HD2 from 2 years ago. I hate taking two steps forward and one back when upgrading to a new phone.
Seems like a software problem then. My phone doesn't behave that way. It automatically downloads images and HTML when opening.
Maybe something with the way the account is setup? Or the Mail app?

My Thunderbolt did not misbehave that way either, but my Rezound does, at least on MS Exchange email.
Are you using Exchange?
I am using an Exchange account. It's an Outlook Web Access setup.
I'm using NilsP's business rom, too.
I'm using enhanced email and no problems with any html emails.
Are either of you using the stock Sense email client to view your Exchange email?
Has anyone ever found the file which controls this behavior?
Does the need to continually press "show html images" in every HTML email continue in ICS? I must have pressed that stupid button a million times this year!
If this problem continues with ICS, has anyone ever discovered which file and location within the file controls this behavior?
I would love to not ever see that button appear at the top of my emails again!
Every time I open contacts it tries to sync with at&t address book. I want to stop this from happening. Any thoughts?
Go into setting-accounts and sync and remove AT&T account. Then go into contact settings-display options and make sure you don't have it checked(if it's an option anymore). Hope that helps.
Edit:looks like in display options, the first phone is for AT&T. Just go into that and uncheck em all.
i dont see any of those settings ...
If you've ever accepted the at&t backup option before, on any phone, you'll have to call up customer care and have them remove it for you. If you've never used it before, you should be able to cancel the operation when it prompts you and it shouldn't pop up again
Edit: I see that you're on Telus so obviously you haven't used it before lol.. You may have to find the service in titanium backup and freeze it to keep it from trying to contact at&t every time you open the address book. I'm sure other ppl using at&t notes have run into this problem before..
Go into main settings then accounts and sync to remove the AT&T account. Once that's done go into contacts and hit the capacitive menu button. Hit more and you'll see display options. Hit that and you'll see all your options to show contacts. hit each one and check off what you want. I prefer google only, but if all your contacts are on your Sim then use the bottom phone option.

I've successfully removed it before without calling them after I've synced. Let me do a little more digging and I'll let you know if there's anything else to do.

Not to confuse the OP, but found an easier way. Go into contacts and hit settings button. Hit more and choose accounts. you'll see all the accounts that are synced including AT&T. Press it and remove.
Edit:if that doesn't work, I got nothing else. The only other thing is to go into contacts, settings, more, settings and choose to save contacts to anything but phone. If you don't do that I think it will continue to sync when you add a new contact. Good luck!

Anyone else having same problem. None of these solutions is useful because they assume options, settings, or items that aren't present.
The Contacts app launches with a dialog about "subscriber" information for AT&T even tho one is not on that telco. Anyone else had this exact problem, understand why these solutions can't work, and found one that does?
I am currently using The Unofficial 2.0 Beta 4 and installed the inverted app kit found through the tools provided in the rom. This is what fixed the problem for me.
You can't remove it. It's not part of the sync providers. The AT&T rom comes with a custom-built Contacts.apk and it's integrated with Android. You'll have to just find/download/use a different Contacts app from the Play Store.
I think however, that removing the AT&T bloatware makes it stop nagging for the AT&T Address Book sync.
I've tried replacing /system/app/Contacts.apk from other ICS builds and it would crash when trying to open Contacts.
If you are on ICS, you can disable it from app management under all... look in the "S's" for Sync then click disable. It may still launch a few times because it is in RAM. So launch it a few times and hit cancel. Reboot and launch contacts again and hit cancel. It should go away after that. If you did sign up for that servce you can disable it online (if you are on ATT).
Since you are on Telus, I am guessing you are running one of the ICS leaks or custom ROMs that use one as a base.

Thanks man
Root then remove AABSync.apk from /system/app directory seems to work fine. Left a copy on SD just in case.
Old Thread, Just to help out though, I stumbled on contacts+ in the android market, it works well.:good:
This worked for me.
On my Galaxy S3 mini, running JB. Contacts, settings, contacts to display. I selected my gmail only. No more AT&T.
I have just fixed this problem via another forum (as the issue is the phone's address book trying to sync with the online AT&T address book).
Go to the Dial keypad and enter *#*#2666#*#. That will bring up the AAB Setting. Click on Registration, and change the setting from 'Initialized' to 'Completed' . That will stop your address book trying to sync with online At&T address book
Recently I had to get a replacement phone for my mom and they gave us the HTC Droid DNA. My mom is very technologically literate, so Im trying to make the phone as simple and straight forward as possible. When it comes to adding a new contact, I can't seem to find a way to change the default contact type for the account it will save the new contact to. So far, any other device Ive worked with, a drop down appears allowing you to, not only choose the account you want to save the current contact to, but to change the default for future contact additions. The DNA only allows me to change contact type/account for the current contact being saved. My mom will never remember to change to the gmail account. Does anyone know how to change this?
PS
Before saying that we should've got her a flip phone, iPhone, or anything else... We looked into every option we had. Flip phone and iPhone were at the top of our list, but this was the only option available to avoid excessive prices and penalties
Hi there,
although I am a die-hard HTC veteran I am surprised how well-built a Samsung phone can be - so I stuck with the S6 edge for the moment .
However, one major feature of the edge is having these VIP contacts on the right side of the screen. But whatever I do, I can set my contacts, and minutes later the list of five contacts is cleared again. It doesn’t matter if I do it in the sidebar or in the settings, my contacts still do not save permanently I suppose.
Did anybody else have this? Any idea? I am using Nova as my launcher, but I would not suspect this to be the problem, since I am still able to access the menu on the edge of my screen...
Thanks in advance

I am having the exact same problem. Stock out of the box and it doesn't work.
Hi all,
I just jumped ship away from Samsung as I was fed up that no phone had a spare battery any more apart from the LG flagship, so I went ahead and bought it yesterday.
I love most things on it, but have discovered something that is shocking me.
I don't appear to be able to create contacts in my Exchange account!! This is almost a dealbreaker!
So here is what I did: I merely added the Exchange account to the phone (as I would have done with Samsung). All fine here. I got the contacts to sync to the phone. But when I create a NEW contact (or edit an existing Exchange one, for that matter) I have no option to select the Exchange account. I can only see "SIM", "PHONE" or "Google" as options. With Samsung I would have had the additional option of "Exchange Activesync".
Attempting to edit a contact who was synced with Exchange brings the error message "Not Editable from this application" - Is that serious? If this were my work phone, I would expect to be able to ADD contacts to an Exchange account!!
Does anyone know of any workaround? Are there other Phone / Contact apps that can replace the stock ones? I am very disappointed in LG right now! Does it even mean I might have to even go ahead and root the phone?? I've always shied away from doing that...
Samsung had a dealbreaker with their batteries and now LG with their phone apps???!!! Pfffff!
Any help at all would be appreciated!
Phil
Seems I can reply to my own question. So here is the answer if anyone else ever gets stuck.
Don't use the account called "Exchange" which looks like the Gmail red and white logo. Instead use the one named "Microsoft Exchange" (blue and white logo). This WILL be allowed to be used when creating contacts. Excellent. No need to throw away my LG quite yet. Phew.
