Note 4 edge or the galaxy s6 edge? I really can't decide which one to get. I was wondering could you give me a little advice.
It depends on what you are after. If the curved glass is the biggest draw, I would go with the Note 4 Edge. The Note uses a separate but seamless screen for the curved edge and the Note has better curved screen functionality and curves more. The S6 edge is only slightly curved and just uses the main screen. This is a problem since there isnt any room to put apps on the GS6 edge. Also the GS6 edge screen notifications use the entire screen. This means functions like night clock light the entire screen with its backlight (like looking at a black wallpaper with the phone on). The Note 4 keeps the main screen off during edge only functions. Not to mention the Note 4 Edge still supports an sd card and removable battery and the battery life is great. The only real con of the Note 4 Edge is the plastic back and the asymetrical form.
With all that said, I have a Galaxy S6 Edge and I love it. It looks amazing and is fantastic to hold. I am not a fan of plastic at all and the metal and glass really compliment each other. I wanted the latest internal specs and this being Samsung's jump into 64 bit and built in wireless charging, I decided to upgrade from my Optimus G. Since money wasnt a big factor to me, i decided on the Edge over the regular. I decided not to get the Note 4 Edge since its too big for me and still more expensive than the GS6E. That beautiful, beautiful curved screen is the main reason I got it.
So it depends on what you value. If its visual appeal and newer hardware, get the S6 Edge. If you want a bigger phone with better removable and better battery/sd card and actually want to use the edge screen instead of just looking at it, get the Note 4 Edge. Hope that helps.
Also I think this is the wrong forum. You should post to general and not accessories.

I really liked the thought of the night clock until I saw it light up the entire screen. However the sports ticker that uses the same curved portion only lights up the text and not the whole screen. So it can be done, just I think they need to fix it or something.
I have both and like stated above it's just what you want out of the phone. The note edge is a beast and I prefer it over the s6 edge for functionality. One thing I don't like about the s6 edge is I find myself barely touching the other edge and messing up a lot of texts where I don't have that issue with the note edge. But the s6 edge is such a great looking phone and performance wise it's better. Also the camera is a beast by a little. Maybe it's because it's new but I've been using the s6 edge a little more because if the feel in hand. I am a little disappointed in the lack of the edge usage on the s6 but it makes sense because of the screen size.
Generally, both are the ultimate phone and could meet all your daily use, it depends on if you're a fan of big screen.
If you can't wait,go for galaxy s6 edge, sleek design and superb specs.. I have S6 Edge and it's worth it..

So other than the edge people, edge light thingy, notifications and nightstand, what does the edge display actually add to the device?
Is there any functional use?
When you're using the device, can other people see the display better than they would if you used a flat screen phone? So is privacy compromised because people can see your display from the side?
Is there any 3rd party apps (root or otherwise) that utilise the curved screen?

The Edge has very little use bar people edge or night clock but that might change as development continues.
As for the time being its aesthetics and dam does it look good

It's stunning. And it does feel extremely immersive when compared to those "flat" phones too. I haven't had a problem with screen privacy, the edges aren't that big. But the aesthetics are just.. Damn. And I also use the NightClock routinely. There are also upcoming apps on XDA, I already saw Music Controls for the Edge screen
But you won't truely understand the Edge until you tried it yourself, trust me

I have tried as i own one lol or was that kinda aimed at other prospect S6 Edge owners.
Yeh i was blown away by the S6 Edge what a beauty and yes until you try you wont get it. Watching videos and reading is so immersive and such a joy to hold and look at.
The development will continue to further enhance the edge utility. But on looks alone it was well worth me opting for it over the S6.
I couldn't justify the extra £7 per month for the edge so today I got the standard S6. Though I am kinda thinking I made the wrong decision and should get the LG G4 instead.
There's not much other than looking really cool. I forget about the contact thing, I never lay the phone down on its face, so it doesn't light up with the contact color, but I do use the edge clock at night. It's pretty cool and doesn't really light up the room.
I tested both S6 and S6 Edge before ordering the Edge. The Edge screen seems to have no bezels because of the edges. Indeed the image is different and it looks even better than the screens with very small bezels. I just felt that the phone has only up and down bezels and the image stops at the edge of the screen.

So I've been having a think about stuff I use my phone for most while I'm considering the S6 Edge or normal S6.
I love how the Edge screen looks in daytime when I've seen it in a store, but last night I was in bed reading pocket on my S4 as I often do...pitch black, pocket in night mode with white text running close to the margin on a black screen, and I suddenly thought hold on isn't this going to look really weird on the Edge?
Am I worrying about nothing? How does the edge screen look for reading text with zero ambient light where you can see only the screen and not the handset as a reference point if that makes sense.
If someone could upload a pic that would be awesome
Not that great, actually. To be honest, the edge is something I would elect not to have on the long run. Perhaps the regular S6 would have been a better option. Two months in, this is what I've realized. This is just my opinion though and I'm sure most would disagree.

Any chance you can expand on your reasons for that?
Really struggling to decide, love the Edge, but worried I'm not gonna love it for a whole two year contract.

Two main reasons: grip and glare. The grip of the S6 is amazing compared to the thin metal rail of the edge. It makes the phone look super thin (when it's actually thicker than the flat S6) but the handling takes a big hit. The S6 just feels better in the hand to me. Also, it's impossible to use this phone in landscape mode unless the room is pitch dark. Glare comes off both edges. I don't know, it really comes down to preference. I know people who wouldn't trade their edge for anything. To me it just feels like a gimmick, something I can easily live without and that it's absence would improve other elements.
i don't think so..for me this is so stylish and i don't have accident touches.. there comes no glow here..the night clock mode is fantastic..the edge is not that functional as it is on the note..but much nicer look..
Hey guys,
I'm torn between the S6 & S6 Edge. I read a review that the S6 Edge curved display effects visibility obviously because it curves away from the screen.
Can anybody comment on how bad this is as it's the only thing putting me off at the moment?

There is some glare/reflections on the curved edge, however for me personally its far from an issue.
Some may find this more annoying than others but dont let this sway you away unless this very slight issue will irritate.
Good luck

I couldn't have said it better.
To be honest, i don't watch movies etc on my phone at all, occasional youtube videos.
Appreciate the help guys.
Can't wait to get my hands on it, I had the S3 from new and it died from SDS (eMMC failiure) and so I bought an Xperia Z dirt cheap (worst phone in the world)
I'm standing before choosing to buy S6 or S6 Edge.
The question is simple - do We have any infos, predictions, SOMETHING how will look and work CM on curved screen of S6 Edge?
I understand that some (or even MOST) features will not work (is obvious at this point) but how will screen work?
Are curved screen part of main screen or are they separate (like 3 standalone displays)?
In simple words: is it ONE BIG CURVED screen or one flat and two curved mini screens?
This is just a S6 screen with modified screen edges, but the edges are part of the screen and not separated which means the S6 Edge doesn't need special or extra work compared to the S6 if that's what you want to know.

Thanks for info. Well, I asked this question because I realised that curved screen may stop working after flashing CM (after it will be published for users) - I mean that main part will work and edges will not (they will be blank or something).
That's not logic at all, this curved screen works like any other screen.
It's literally a flat screen with bent edges. So yes, it is 1 screen.
I got all answers - tread can be closed.
Anyone do this? I dont like the tab s7 LCD, and the S7 plus is just too big for my needs. My tab s5e feels sluggish, just want something speedier. Thoughts? Thanks
I'm looking to do the exact same thing. The only real difference between the two is the 855 and 670 processors and in display fingerprint.
I can buy the S6 for a good price so I might go ahead with this upgrade
I did the same. Though my reason in large part had to do with the doubled internal storage size.
But yeah, unlike then I see zero reason to upgrade to the s7. The differences between it and the s6 are pretty minor, except for the screen, which is actually worse on the s7.
