[Q] adb does not detect my HTC One - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I wanted to root my HTC One when it was with android 5.0.2. I did everything which I was suppose to do and installed SuperSu which did not work my mobile. So I tried to update the latest SuperSU binaries but there problem started. After powering it just shows welcome screen and still I can go to developer mode and see fastboot, recovery etc options. Now main problem is adb does not detect my mobile. Could any please help me ?

how about using fastboot? is adb worked on the recovery?

Sorry to bump an old thread
I'm having the exact same problem.
Rooted the 8180 with SuperOneClick, installed Rom Manager, from Rom Manager installed CWM 8160 version with sucess, and whenever trying to boot into recovery mod the phone just hangs while showing the hourglass icon.
I tried reflashing the CWM and it still hangs
Im still running the stock firmware/rom
Can you share how you solved this problem?
Hi, I had a similar issue and did a reboot in to the CWM by holding power, volume up and the "search button" (?) the right one any way. Then did a wipe/factory reset.

So you could only boot into CWM by pressing power+volume+search? The regular way (power+volume) would lock up like it does to me, is that it?
Anyway I tried your key combination and it still freezes...

Bug with rom manager, you should try flashing atleast 3 times and then try and go into recovery, happened to me also, just flash again through rom amanager.

Hi,as for the fastboot instructions - I've found this to be a great help in getting adb and fastboot to work on my Win7 x64 installs,so you might want to give it a try. Also,I'm gonna upload in a bit the earlier recovery + recovery manager (if you want to try that before you play around with adb/fastboot) to flash it to your device + the device drivers.
Edit - The link for the file - http://ubuntuone.com/14mi7lUkJelsrNBr4z5Uy2 - 12.5 MB - contains the older recovery (you can still try to flash the newer one first if you want), 2 different driver packs and the aforementioned recovery manager.

Thank you! Im trying recovery manager as I type this, I find it curious it says "Currently installed recovery: unrecognized"
As for the driver, I already had it installed from when I rooted the phone.
EDIT: So I installed the up to date recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-u8160) with Recovery Manager, still unrecognized and still freezes after booting into recovery.
Installed the one you supplied (ClockworkMod-u8160-v0.1) and got the exact same results, unrecognized and freeze

In that case you might want to try the doomsday option - fastboot (not really, hell - it's actually rather useful + if you follow that website you also get adb up and working too). As for the 'unrecognized' alert,I remember getting it too once upon a time, but I have to admit - I haven't used the app myself since when I made the jump from the stock 2.2.1 ROM to a custom froyo build,so I can't recall for the moment what I did to fix that error

Will do. Besides the fastboot recovery command what else do I need to do from the phone side?
Does fastboot display any feedback or log about the flashing/installation?

Nothing specific -you just have to reboot in fastboot mode (just restart the phone while pressing Power and Volume Down. Windows should chirp and install the drivers automagically - afterwards just use that command discussed earlier and it should flash your recovery without any additional prompts (it should only print out a confirmation of a successful flash) and you should have the CWM ready to go
Edit: I put my device into fastboot mode on a clean Windows install (a Win8 Consumer Preview) and it did autodetect and install the relevant driver without restarting itself
No luck... Now it's driver issues
When booting the phone with either the vol up or down pressed and pluging in the USB my PC isn't recognizing the driver, I used both drivers you sent me.
Initially it's detected as Android 1.0 device, upon fetching the drivers it gets named "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface".
As I refresh device manager it goes back to Android 1.0 with an exclamation mark.
I think it's a driver signature issue, I'll try again in a couple of hours in a different PC
edit:in debug mode I have no driver issues and I can even detect my phone with ADB
Finally!
Tried it in another computer, auto downloaded some ASUS adb driver and installed fine.
Flashed latest CWM recovery with fastboot and now I'm able to boot into CWM!
Thank you so much for your help!
Sry for bumping.
So, i had the same trouble with the drivers. But i just downloaded HiSuite directly from the Huawei Site and these fix my problem with drivers to use adb without troubles . Hope this help someone.
BTW, Thanks bk109!
It did helped me thx man

Does you phone boot up fully into android? If it does you can access recovery mode by running the following adb command:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Let me know if you still have question's I'll be happy to answer them.

Regardless of whether your device is rooted or not you can access recovery by booting the phone normally into the Android OS, and running the ADB command "adb reboot recovery" using ADB on your computer to boot your phone into recovery mode.

This is the only info I could find on an English Jelly Bean ROM for your device, I warn you the site seems quite sketchy and the service seems sketchy as well. They charge you for the ROM or service to install the ROM from what I can tell which in itself raises all kinds of red flags, but I figured I would share what I found with you.

[Q] Device not detected only on recovery mode

I'm trying to update my G Watch by sideloading a zip file.
I installed the sdk tools and usb driver as usual.
On debugging mode and bootloader, the watch is detected as an ADB device normally. 'adb devices' command works.
But when I reboot and get on recovery mode, the watch disappears on the device manager and never get detected again. So I cannot use 'adb sideload' command.
I've never experienced this kind of issue with smartphones.
Do you have any solutions?

I pushed the reset button on the back(the silver one right above the charging connectors) with a pen for about 10 seconds, and it rebooted.

Ok, does anyone know how to get my computer to recognise my watch in recovery mode? It's not about 'driver' the computer plain doesn't recognise that anything is plugged in at all.
I know the post is quite old already, but I experience exactly the same phenomenon...
I tried multiple PCs Linux and Windows, but non of them recognized the watch (neither on 4.4W1 nor on 4.2W2).
Anyone any idea?

The problem, as @osikiri stated, is that the device does not get recognized at all (no unknown devices in devicemanager and the sound that comes on plugging in a device does not come as well). Furthermore, afaik Linux does not even need any drivers

If this really helps (seems weird): I guess the exact setting could be necassary:
You simply ran out of battery while the watch was running(not recovery or fastboot) and then plugged it in and went directly (or not?) to the recovery?
Thanks in advance, would be really great to fix this!
Anyone ever find a fix to this? I'm trying to manually install the 5.0 update and I'm having the same issue. Every post I find with search tells me to update drivers but I'm on a Mac that doesn't even use ADB drivers. I've updated the SDK.

I'm doing the same thing and having the same issues!
Yeah, same issue for me as described.
Windows (Win7 x64 for me) doesn't even realise that the device is connected when it is in recovery mode. Although it will connected properly when booted normally.
+1 Any ideas?
Same issue for me. I've tried removing and replacing it on the cradle, killing and restarting the adb server, entering recovery by the touchscreen or by the adb/fastboot commands, clearing debugging keys, etc... Anybody have any other ideas?

Ok, so it appears that the recovery img on 4.4w2 broke adb support or something. There are a few threads that suggest you can root and flash it or just wait for the OTA. We'll see whether I get the OTA before I have time to try this out.
Lollipop OTA Update: Download and How-To (Root Required)
I made a script that roots and updates your watch to 5.0.1 in a click.

I've similar problem, and I've spent almost 3 hours to find the solution. I found that following solution work for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-watch-r/development/manual-ota-update-root-t2969845
I've changed the step slightly according to the comments inside the thread:
- Enter Bootloader (swipe top left-bottom right as soon as the LG logo pops up on boot)
- Unlock bootloader (fastboot oem unlock) and boot the watch normally once
- Turn off and re-enter bootloader
- Flash 5.0.1 Stock Recovery (fastboot boot recovery.img)
// Do Not Flash 5.0.2 stock recovery
- Enter recovery and ADB sideload the update (tap the android, select install update from ADB and enter adb sideload filename.zip)
//you might have to reinstall the ADB drivers, just follow the simple step to install ADB driver
Done.
fi thought it was finally the solution, but fastboot oem unlock bricked my sony smartwatch3. I see tomorrow if with my windows pc i can fix with sony companion, otherwise i'll have to use the warranty

Need Help Urgently

Hi,
I got update for my htc nexus 9(7.1 Update). It automatically updated and when i woke up the phone was bricked. Its in welcome screen and touch isnt working at all. volume,Power keys are working.
So i tried to unlock the bootloader and flash a new rom.
Note: device isnt rooted.Oem is not unlocked and usb debugging not enabled in developer option.
contacted htc service centre but its of no use.they wont service tabs and they dont even touch usa products.
Tried different videos.Downloaded rom, recovery and installed fastboot and adb drivers in my pc.
when i try using the command prompt, its showing under fastboot devices but it isnt showing under adb devices.
adb is showing the commands, but no adb command is working for the device.
Need help in unlocking bootloader and installing custom rom.
Am not a pro or a coder. I just root for fun. dont have any knowledge about these things.
So someone please guide me in solving the issue.
Hello sir. Sorry to hear about your device.
First adb doesn't work in fastboot. Everything is well fastboot
My advice to you is Dw about any of that. Run over to a really helpful guy, called wugfresh. He has a hole tool kit. I use it all the time it's excellent. It should sort you out no problem . If it doesn't give me a shout and I'll see if I can be of assistance

you can try flashing the full OTA update
then do a factory reset.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
1. boot into recovery
2. adb sideload "location of the OTA"
3. reboot into recovery
4. factory reset

HTC nexus 9 soft bricked, without developer mode enabled , how can i connect ,

i recently got into playing with andorid , and kinda bootlooped my device,
its htc nexus 9 wifi , i rooted it with wrong version supersu
inject.img
patched.img

If you can boot into bootloader, you can fastboot flash the images from https://developers.google.com/android/images (or just try running the entire N9F27N script) from your fastboot folder in cmd prompt or the Mac equivalent if you use Apple.

usb-debug is not enabled.
the thing is , when i rooted i got locked out then i factory reseted it , but it still is in bootloop,
i am unable to connect with device this is what i see when run the script ,
the cmd prompet say "<waiting for device >"
does it ever happened to anyone , getting locked without getting developer mode > usb-debug enabled , and then flashing factory rom ?
Can you still access TWRP, if it was already on the device.
Flash any custom rom, enable the option and flash stock again (if you want).
If it is stock recovery, sideload an OTA image instead.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Manually boot recovery and you shouldn't need usb-debug enabled, I hope.
A bit of research and it is required unfortunately
Edit: You don't need usb-debugging for fastboot flashing.
Also Nexus Root Toolkit might prove helpful to setup drivers on your pc and restore your device to working order.
^^^ It is out of date software, so hesitant to recommend it.

I've definitely had this experience. You can try disconnecting the cable then reconnecting. When that doesn't work, you have to remove all the drivers or at least run through "updating" the Android drivers in hardware settings. You won't actually be updating drivers just re-installing from the PC. Wug's toolkit mentioned above may be your best choice if you don't have TWRP. The toolkit will provide you with an exe called usbdeview which enables driver removal. I didn't mention an OTA sideload because I thought you did need ADB for that. If you can get PC to recognize the device in cmd, then you can fastboot flash images.
