If you're rooted and have a spare PS3 controller you can just use that.
I use Moga on my Nexus 5. Love it. Should fit the G3 fine.

I second the Ipega 9023. You can get it for $20 and Its built well and works great. They sell it under a few different names and the documentation and support is non-existent though. the biggest complaint is that there are 4 different modes you can use it in by holding down the different buttons while powering it on... its not well documented in the instructions but reviews have the break down... Typically you'll just need to hold the X key down while powering it on.

Curious if anyone knows about hooking up a wired, usb controller to the TF while docked. I already own the wired gaming controllers that I use on my laptop for SNES roms, but wanted to use it on the transformer while I'm out.
android 3.1 supports the xbox and ps3 wire controllers...and i'm guessing other standard (meaning they work without custom drivers) gamepads.
i test an old PC gamepad i had, and it only partially worked. (some buttons aren't recognized, or recognized weirdly)
eitherway, it's trial and error.
but officially, Android 3.1 supports, at the very least, the xbox and ps3 controllers.
I can confirm ps3 controller works

Will give it a try
Sweet, well i have an older gamepad that once I get the TF I will give it a shot, worst comes to worst will just pick up an xbox controller and call it good
The Xbox 360 USB controller does not work with this tablet.
Are you using an actual USB 360 controller or a 360 controller with the charge and play cable? The charge and play cable does not transmit data, it only charges, so you would have to have the 360 controller synced through blue tooth to make it work that way.
I got one of these docks today so I can confirm that the following controllers work with the dock:
PS3 dual shock
Logitech Cordless Precision PS3 controller (Wireless!)
Mayflash Classic Controller USB adapter (this one surprised me)
HOWEVER!
I was unable to get any of the emulators to register the right analog stick, which for most emulators is not a big deal, but still not as good I think as just using a wii remote with a classic controller which seems to work for all the buttons and sticks and things.
Also, I was unable to get 2 usb gamepads to be recognized independently (i.e. as player 1 and player 2) so for me this is not good either. I am now selling the dock on ebay because the only plus for me was being able to have 2 wireless USB gamepads that are not tethered to something else (wii remote) and be able to play 2 player games. Otherwise this dock just makes my transformer less portable. I'm sure for some people it's great though, I'm not knocking it, it just wasn't suited for what I wanted.
Anyone try it with a Logitech gamepad (usb)?

Yes, I'm using an actual USB Xbox 360 controller not the wireless controller with the charge and play cable. This is an issue that if you search the forums you'll find others who have the same problem. I had emailed Asus more than a month ago about the issue and they finally responded and said:
Dear Valued Customer,
For the problem, currently TF101's dock does not support xbox 360 controller.
Sorry for any inconvenience. Wish you have a nice day.

And when I asked if it will be supported in the future:
Dear Valued Customer,
Currently TF101 does not support it, but I will pass your test result as a VOC(vovice of customer) to the related dept.
Sorry for any inconvenience. Wish you have a nice day.

The wireless gamepad I tried was Logitech, so I would imagine that this would work as well. I have a couple of older model Logitech gamepads I can test later on if I get around to it.
I really am disappointed though in the fact that android 3.1 does not seem to distinguish between 2 different gamepads plugged in at the same time. I tried setting up a 2 player game of Contra by mapping buttons for player 1 and player 2 on each respective pad, but both gamepads controlled both characters at the same time. So it's fine for single player, but any kind of multiplayer is no go.
I take it back. It is something they are looking to resolve:
The next firmware update will support xbox 360 controller and the firmware will be released soon.

At least now I don't need to buy another controller.

Thanks so much for the info! But would you be so kind as to check with the older model Logitech gamepads (with usb)? I'm looking to buy the one that I linked you earlier and this would definitely be a deal breaker if it didn't work.
I was considering the possibly of putting an emulator on my Thrive to play some old PS1 games today, and it occurred to me that this tablet is unique amongst many android devices in that is has a USB port.
I took an Xbox360 controller from Gamestop and plugged it in...
Excellent accessory support indeed! Apparently, i can scroll though the screens with the joysticks and use the Dpad and buttons to control some widgets!
I was more then surprised, and have not figured out what all the buttons do or the extent to which different apps will work with this.
Are there any other unlikely accessories you've tried on your Thrive yet?
I'm going to try it out tonight. Good find!
I use the SNES9x EX and found out last week that I could plug in my old Logitech Dual Action controller and it worked perfectly fine... Now I play a bunch of games all the time. I havnt tried the PSX emu yet but I will get around to it.
You can buy that controller off ebay for like $13
I use my tab to power a USB lamp and sometimes a fan shaped as a cow...
I am so happy I bought my thrive this is sweet! God to think I was going to just get the galaxy tab7 phew.

I just plugged in a Saitek P2500 game controller & it also worked. Played a game of Dragon Fly with it.
I just installed Tiger Arcade and was using the full HDMI port to play Street Fighter 3 Third Strike on my HD TV and using the USB port to play it using my 360 Madcatz Arcade Fightstick.

I've been using the full and micro USB slots to charge my e-cigarettes... also my phone (SGS2 I727R).
The tab looks like something out of an old sci-fi flick with an autobattery volt e-cig witha blue tip sticking out the top... pretty funny.

I have to work on Google docs spreadsheets and other things that are hard to deal with without a mouse.
I have a keyboard / mousepad combo plugged in and it works very well. But I was really hoping others had found some nice units that worked well with cases.
Alas, it seems fee have the thrive and there is not much energy around it. Certainly not in these forums.
Am I wrong?

Logitech has one
I bought a Logitech usb keyboard that has a mousepad. I threw out the box, but on the back of the keyboard it says "K400" I use it for word processing on my Thrive and it works well.
sorry to revive this but, is that keyboard wireless? Does the Logitech receiver work with the Thrive/Android OS?
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo
Google CE Compass, Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAs
I looked and looked for a keyboard with a built in mouse until I found this to use with my Thrive. Works well and I'm happy with it.
I use the toshiba bluetooth keyboard and a regular old usb mouse and it works wonderfully. I use it mostly for splashtop hd so I can do computery things on the go, and there is a bit of a lag to each but it's streaming over wifi so it's no big.
Why do all of the thrive threads have to be dead
Does an actual WIRED xbox 360 controller work with the prime right when you plug it in. I've seen some say it will some say it won't.
Yes it works 100%. With Games and Navigating the menu.
My name is Optimus Prime and I send this message..
I'm a little confused does the play and charge cable work as well?

No, all that ever does is charge the controller.

I'm not sure if that's true. I've plugged in a wireless xbox controller into a console without a battery pack and without being synced to that console, and it's worked. I've always assumed its through a wired connection.

Nope, just power. It's missing the pins and wiring on the inside to relay controls.

He's right. I tried plugging in my charge and play controller and all it did was charge the controller. I wish I didn't sell my wired controller
I just picked up the Prime myself, and went out and grabbed a wired xbox 360 controller. The controller works great to navigate the prime, as well as Riptide, however when I read in the Tegra zone, it mentions pressing the guide button, until the light is solid on. My light is aways blinking, kind of annoying, is this normal?

It's normal.. and it will work anyway.
It even works with the wireless 360 receiver.. so you can use a 360 controller wirelessly if you have one of those..
ohwow the wireless work? The Tegra page said they didn't, wonder if the new firmware fixed that? I have one of the receivers but didn't even try it. Already bought the wired controller, but I did get it on sale for 27 bucks, think I'll keep it, thinking as far as portability goes, carrying around just a controller rather than reciver + controller sounds easier. And you really dont need to be far from the tablet.
r u guys sure because i swore a long time ago i used the charge cord to plug one into my computer to use as a gamepad. could be wrong just know i used to have a controller for my computer and i don't remember having a wired one
I personally couldnt get any of them to work. However i am rooted and my ps3 controller works. So ive been using that. Didnt really keep trying with the 360 controller. Which to be fair is far more comfortable than the ps3 one.
Might try again.
Has anyone tried using one of these in splashtop HD?
Just interested to see if it actually relays back the controls to the PC like it is actually connected. if so then i will be very happy!
Also what about onlive, Anyone got around to testing the controller on that?

I didn't see a thread for controllers. This controller works great, connects immediately and for someone who's grown up on dualshock it feels at home in my hands. I don't want to turn this into a review. Just another option for people. The one downside is the lack of a rechargable battery. If you have questions or want pics just ask. Or a mod can close this thread if there's a thread of compatible controllers I missed. I haven't tested with Windows yet, but I can test it with my XPS 15 if someone wants, I just don't game on it much.

I use the Xbox One S Wireless white controller on mine it connects through Bluetooth but for some reason I have to re-pair it after I've turned off the controller or tablet. I couldn't get the original Xbox One controller to ever work even with a usb OTG cable and root.
