So I've been having issues with the earpiece on my Hero from day 1 and I'm concerned the speaker may be blown. Any sound coming from the earpiece above 75% volume seems to be accompanied with a nasty vibrating sound (which I know for sure is from the speaker and not a call quality issue). Does anyone else experience this? I need to know if the hero's earpiece speaker simply cannot sound at high volume or if my speaker is blown. I dont wanna have to exchange the phone and pay for another ghost armor kit and install!
The new Xperia Z2 has this active noise cancelling feature. The headphones have microphones on them and the phone uses those microphones to actively cancel noise when listening to music. So it's effectively like those expensive noise canceling headphones except that for the Z2 the headphones don't have to have some giant chunk on it for the battery and processing unit because the phone does that all. I was wondering if we used similar headphones with a microphone on it or even maybe the same headphones from the Z2, would it be possible to port that software that does this noise cancelling from the Z2 to other android phones?
Anyone have white noise when using headphones? I hear it when using an in-ear type of noise isolating ear buds, and only hear it when the audio is active (ie whenever the table is making a sound like adjusting volume, keyboard touch sounds), but otherwise is dead quiet. I can also hear it over quiet music, but otherwise I guess the music covers it up.
Quick update. Tried with a different pair of headphones. Definitely better. I am sure the white noise is there, but I can't hear it with this pair of headphones.
Haven't notice this with, say, the nexus 5.
Yeah, I'm having the same issue with any low impedance headphones. When listening to silent music or videos I can nearly not hear it over the noise. On every action I make the headphones are activated and I instantly hear the white noise.
Also the volume for the headphones is pretty high (levels 1-3 are bearable but above it's too loud, and level 1 is too loud when in a silent environment). I don't know if it's a software issue, but it's definitely making using headphones horrible.
Tried this with Apple EarPods and Sennheiser In-Ear headphones. It's better with open headphones but unbearable with in-ear.
omacha
Yes i am getting a lot of noise with in-ear headphones too.
I guess for now only high impedance headphones will be silent.
I also get this on my Bluetooth headphones. Same thing on my Nexus 7.

Can't hear phone calls unless it's through rear speaker or headphones with k910
Either the ear piece speaker mesh is clogged, the ear piece speaker has stopped functioning, or you've installed a mod or custom rom that has messed up the audio routing or speaker volume.
Hey guys I'm currently looking for a pair of "headphones" for my xperia as it didn't bring one of the box.
I'm currently looking for the STH30 or the Apple Earpods, the main use would be just calling and some random music listening from time to time as I have a pair of quality headphones for that. I need the integrated mic and controls (play/pause and volume), also with audio quality in mind...
I ended up going for the Apple Earpods, not a single regret on them.
worth?
