I am frustrated. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab1 (T859 from T-Mobile), the operating system is 4.0.4) in order to play a ot of the new games the operating system has to be 4.2 and up. So, I have research this to no end. I found that you can either upgrade the tablet from using an sd card, Kies or using Odin3, sounds great. Now the problem is the tablet does not take an sdcard, so that's out. Kies will not recognize an upgrade (according to Samsung, there isn't one), so that leaves me with using Odin3. So I downloaded version Odin3 v1.87, no problem, the extension of the firmware that it reads is tar.md5, I can find the original firmware (4.0.4) but I cannot find one for 4.2
I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!, I have looked everywhere (I understand it will probably be after market, not an issue)
You are in the wrong thread, try: T-Mobile galaxy note II if I'm not mistaking.
BUT
Found this: http://androidjinn.com/how-to-install-cm10-1-android-4-2-1-jelly-bean-on-t859-galaxy-tab-10-1.html
And the code for t859 is p4tmo
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/P4tmo_Info
So here the cyanogenmod link: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=p4tmo&type=

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and this is my very first post. I recently established a Galaxy S2 for Tmobile. I've search and search and try to root it and came upon this forum.
I hope someone can help me root my Samsung Galaxy S2. And this is my phone info
Model: SGH-T989
Android: 2.3.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.11
(just the 6 digits)
I've done some rooting before on my previous Vibrant but is a one lick root.
Please help I need to delete some bloat wares on my phone.
Thank you,
Eric
If you are on a international (not AT&T) SII:
Rooting your S2 will take about 30 seconds, if you carefully follow the instructions in this forum:
[19.10.2011][CF-Root 4.4] KE*, KF*, KG1/2/3/5/6/7, KH1/3/4, KI2/3/4/8 - su+bb+CWM4
Be sure to have samsung kies installed (for the latests samsung drivers) but to totally close it (kill the process, not having it running in background) before start the flashing because odin is blocked by kies, and this risk to end up on a semi bricked phone.
If you are in a AT&T phone, i have no clue, but i know there is on the forum threads specific to root that device.
Btw, welcome to XDA and the S2 community
??
I do not know if my GS2 is international, but is for Tmobile
I was looking at the Kernel version, some of them have the letters after the number, my phone doesn't... Only show 2.6.35.22
you want this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1329
i dont know if root has been achieved on your model yet but youll need to stay in touch with that section, not this one. You have a different model to this forum
Rooted
I think the root tool was release on 10/19. to use with ODIN V1.8.5. to root it.
I didn't install kies, but I did use the driver from samsung. I also download SuperUser.apk and recovery-cwm-hercules.tar (search the web)
Power off.. Then Volumn up+down and connect cable. Select PDA on ODIN and select Recovery-cwn-hercules.tar. start the process. phone will reboot. Mount usb and copy SuperUser over after rebooted. Since my phone is new i didn't perform a NANDROID backup (crazy) then flash the superuser.zip file in the recover mode. I have done much yet, but I did use Root Recovery and it worked.
hello every one,
i flashed a international galaxy player 5.0 kernel in my galaxy player 5.0 usa version, and now my competitive buttons / touch sensitive buttons doesn't work. can any one please give a link to download the galaxy player 5.0 usa version stock kernel.
or any other way that i can fix the issue.
please help ,
If you have a stock firmware you can unpack zImage and then tar it. Then, flash it with odin.
You can now use the Entropy512's kernel (just released, search on development section). Is for US version.
I'm fairly certain someone posted a stock firmware dump somewhere.
I'd psot one, but my system image was cluttered heavily by zergRush insisting on installing Busybox in addition to rooting. grrr...

I'm in the same state as you but unbrickable resurrector is the only thing that gets the screen active. I did have a handy dual boot of Linux Mint and XP to go back and forth with the software tools. Perhaps you chose the wrong option in unbrickable. It's the choice that is marked "player" and says 111 instead of 110. Sometimes you have to disconnect and reconnect the player so you don't get the fail message but it works nearly every time for me. The graphic wraps around the edge of the screen but works fine for Odin to see it. I just can't get anything dropped onto the device from Odin to work. The process succeeds but I still end up with a black brick.
Lots of info to search through, just take your time. I figure I now have to learn how to access the device from a command line to see of the partition tables are screwed and figure out how to fix that. The various PIT files and bootloaders are not doing the trick. Whether I've applied the right bootloader or not either I'm not sure of.
Unbrickable is a great tool to start with. After that I'm still learning though I know my device is going to work eventually and at least I don't have to open it and solder some pins.
Update: I got my WinXP in VirtualBox running on Linux Mint working nice to streamline the testing vs. the constant dual booting. It's worked very well. Flashing multiple files wasn't working.
-I used the Unbrickable Resurrector to get my International Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 into download mode. I got the device from Woot.com, it has the Korean country code TTT sans the hdmi or tv antenna. Physical home button so the international roms should work.
-I flashed the bootloader file by itself which was provided by AdamOutler. This brought back the Samsung logo to the screen and the device no longer communicated with Resurrector. That was fine because now I can get it into download mode with the vol down, home button combo.
-Now I believe it's on a bootloop state. I don't get anything other than the Samsung logo after trying several roms.
Update II: I realized since I had already put a 2.3.5 pit that I had to find a matching Gingerbread rom since I no longer had the original Froyo setup. I tried out the official Gingerbread release G70XXKPF and now my Android recovery boot is working again though it spits out a bunch of errors that it can't find certain things or files. Failure to mount /efs or /cache are the errors that I can see, the rest scroll past too fast. Looks like one more round should get it home.
HELP!!!

Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update?
My sister just got a galaxy note 3 and it has android 4.3 and her phone lets her type emojis and stuff. I was wondering when i get the 4.3 update will i be able to do the same?
So I was trying to root my phone last night and watched some guides but none of them matched my Samsung Galaxy S4 4.4.2 SGH-1337m Sasktel so then I finally found an article: I cant post the link but the title was Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update: How To Root SGH-I337M Variant On Latest OS And Install Custom ROMs [TUTORIAL] Please look at it.
And so I used odin 3.09 exe and AP'd cf-autoroot and in the middle of the download it said failed rather than pass. After that I just pressed exit and pulled the plug, now my phone is saying Firm Upgrade encountered an issue...please selyatta yatta yatta.
Help is appreciated!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and i'm here only to share with you a tip! or maybe many!
So i was looking for a ways to reduce lag on ICS and i stumbled upon a way to root any android device . and i tried it .... I was ready to take the risk on my 3 year old tablet to see if it was worth it... .and it was .....
I don't take any credit for this method of rooting the Tablet S . This is the simpler than all the AiO tools out there . And it can root 4.0.3 rev5A!!!!!! (yes!)
Requirments
Sony Tablet S 16GB/32GB on 4.0.3r5a (Or 3.2 this works with any version above 2.3)
KingRoot App (download link below)
Charger(we dont want to get stuck on a bootloop because we didnt have a charger!)
SD card for backup
RootChecker App if u dont believe me
This method does not require creating a backup... but do it just in case.
Download and install the KingRoot app.
Open the application swipe down till u see Sony Tablet S Root Strategy Found...
Then its pretty simple. just click on the root this device button...
Your device may reboot during the process
and voila! now you have root on your Tablet S
Now, unfortunately you cannot install custom recovery on your device because the bootloader is locked or you cant install custom roms(wish i could) but this post is only for obtaining root ... pls dont criticize me for the above reasons
Also, im not responsible if your device gets bricked ... rooting is a dangerous process and your device is your responsibility . Dont blame me for bricked devices.
I DO NOT TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THIS APPLICATION! THANK THE CREATOR OF THE APP AND NOT ME!
Another tip ... If your device gets stuck in a bootloop, get into the recovery and do a factory reset. and if that doesnt work... try restarting a few times.
Thanks people!:victory:
I was honestly skeptical but it actually worked!

Glad it worked! Another tip... Don't try replacing kingroot with superuser... It doesn't work with the tablet... Unfortunately...
SGPT13 (Tablet S)
Hello! Sorry for my spelling errors. I am Brazilian and I'm using Google Translate for this dialogue.
I'm having the following problem: I have a Sony Xperia Tablet S (SGPT131BR / S) and the wifi simply crashed. Already tested in other modems without success. I can connect it only to the smartphone hotspot. The gadget now has a version 4.1.1r2 (Jelly Bean) installed and already efetuei the HARD RESET, but the problem continues.
In Brazil's support, suggested I use the PC Companion software and make a repair update. However, the software only has MPT driver and has no USB debugging. Again, after search and find the driver, I found that this software does not
updates this unit specifically.
The equipment certainly is not damaged (hardware). Step this information based on the fact that it can only connect to mobile hotspots, also the bluetooth is operating normal and finally know that there was no fall when "out of nowhere" he decided to no longer work.
After researching a bit, I believe that the "system update from sd card" available at "Android System Recovery" (the HARD RESET menu), could solve ...
This topic specifically, I found the software to download the front page!
