Hey guys!!
Just got my S6 Edge and loving everything about it so far except...
My Ok Google anywhere isn't working. It's not even presenting me an option to turn it on. Also "enable audio history" option is missing which I know is necessary to get it all working.
I have done a factory reset, enabled and disabled S Voice, primary language English US, and deleted app data etc! I am running a stock Telus Samsunf S edge. I don't know if it's firmware dependent or not.
If anyone can suggest anything else, I'm all ears!!
Thanks in advance!

Looks like they removed it I had it yesterday now it's gone there was a update last night
Ah, that's a shame. At least I'm not the only one!!
Hope they come to their senses and come out with an update to enable it again!
Yep was there yesterday and gone now.
Perhaps it was sucking too much battery? Can't say I really used it that much but it was a cool feature. Will just have to press and hold home button to use it! A bit of a pain!
Found a work around for now...
Using an app called "Now Gesture Tweaks" which allows me to press and hold the home button to activate Voice Search and Nova Launcher gesture "Swipe Up" for Google.
Gives us a similar effect.
voice your disapproval: @S6NoOKGoogle https://twitter.com/S6NoOKGoogle
Don't you guys have "google settings" in your app drawer? All "OK Google" settings are right there.
EDIT: My bad.. deep down to the detection settings, it is gone!! How!? So is this Samsung's fault or Google's fault?
Yup. It's global and it's just all the variants of the S6 & S6 Edge. Some Nexus devices seem to be broken but still have their options.

I used it on a regular daily basis. Very frustrating for them to pull it without notice...
What is even more frustrating is that neither Google or Samsung is taking the heat for this,,,both are referring us to each other LOL,,,classic tactic.

Unfortunately same, not working.
It doesn't work on my Note 2, my wife's S3, and even my coworker's Walmart Alcatel phone alll running Kitkat and all did the latest update.
Its a bigger issue and Google doesn't seem to be too concerned
I got an update yesterday and it is working now, well at least from the homescreen.
Sprint S6 Edge w/Nova Launcher, OK Google works from any screen.
Does the widget need to be on the home screen for it to work

Not for me
Wow, just realized I don't need the widget at all for hotword to work. Cool
supposedly the 5.1.1 update will bring the OK Google functionality back.
Is your S-Voice App activated? Or did you disable that? I've read that either having it on or off might enable OK GOOGLE from any screen to work.

Hello all,
Its getting very annoying: everytime I pinch out on the homescreen to get to the homescreen selection section, a voice is saying some stuff I cant even understand, even in silent mode. Its getting me sick!
How can I disable it? Looked for it everywhere! Someone has a clue?
Thanks in advance.
Am I the only one with this problem? No one else?

Me either as far as I know your not meant to get any either?
Have you added an app as an accessibility service? Maybe Lightflow or Tasker? You can either remove those apps as accessibility services or you could use another launcher. This is a known bug which doesn't really have a perfect solution yet.

I had the same issue yesterday and i solved it
At first i thought it was driving mode(since that reads out things while you drive) then i checked accessibility settings and i disabled talk back(i think).....but that still didnt work.
Found out its lightflow....Has something to do with the app.I think you can disable it but i just removed the app completely and the voices stop
I'm still waiting for my s3 so can't check whether that does the trick or not but the developer of Missed It! said to check that both Talkback and Install Web Script (both in Accessibility settings) are set to off
Sent from my CM9 TouchPad
I've had this problem too and I don't have Lightflow installed. For me, the solution was to go to Settings, Accessibility and under Services turn off 'Addons Detector' which I had installed.
So, perhaps it's anything installed in the Services section causes the problem. A bug perhaps?
Okay, so my s-voice won't do anything? I say "call mom home" it prints the words I front of me & does nothing? Same thing when I give it a math problem, launch an app, or anything at all? Do I need a replacement or am I doing something wrong? I actually use voice commands alot!
Ok go to settings, application manager, on the top click all find S-voice hit it the click clear data. Hit thanks if this helps!

Clearing data worked & factory reset has worked once alsw, but I don't know why it keeps happening?
Samsung really needs to get their act together with S-Voice. Their software development on this was rushed, and it shows. S-Voice often stops working and requires clearing the App data, and even when it works, the app's inability to understand variation in syntax makes it far more limited than Apple's Siri.
I also notice that when I do a Google search using S-Voice, the web search is done through a Samsung sponsored adsense account, so it's evident that S-Voice is mainly an attempt by Samsung to monetize their users' google searches rather than an earnest effort to improve user experience.
The Galaxy S3 is great phone overall, but I hope Samsung comes out with an S-Voice update that will do this phone justice. Meanwhile, I'd love to be able to replace the double-click home button with Google Search instead of S-Voice.
However, at least I can access vanilla Google search quickly with a long-hold on the capacitive menu button.
I haven't had a problem with it yet. It sometimes gets mixed up and doesn't know what I say.

Lol I was having problems with S-Voice on my International SGS III understanding my words until I changed it from "English UK" to "English US" very odd indeed...
I'm running SVoice on my SGS2 with no problems and it's not even for our phone.
I wonder why you guys are having issues with it?
Powered by the SGSII
only problem i've had is while driving it will pick up the road noise and not end the voice command entry automatically, also if there is too much road noise the app will not audibly alert as it stops if it hears any sound
While not too surprised by it, the performance while driving leaves S-Voice worthless to me. If my window is down, I pretty much can't use it.
Also, I tried using it to launch Waze... it prints the correct name, but then says it can't find the app. I have yet to get it to open a non-default app.

I agree 100%! I use voice commands a lot, and mostly in the car is when I use them. That's the only time you ever NEED hands free control over the phone, and yet it's almost worthless in the car! I have to roll up the windows, close the sunroof, and if the AC is on you can for get it, lol. I think I'm gonna try the original vlingo app I've always used, because I know they are behind svoices software, but it worked better when I downloaded it to replace the Samsung tinkered vlingo on my s2. It could possibly be that the mic on the gs3 is very sensitive though? None the less, every phone has some apps that I don't care for.
I went into google now search settings and performed the voice training and enabled the option for hot word detection from lock screen and power off but it doesn't work. the only time it works is when i'm at the home screen UNlocked OR at the google now search area. Screen off or from lock screen detection simply does not work.
does anyone else notice this?
I don't have the nexus 9 but I did install the latest google now search and launcher from apkmirror .com and there was an always listening option in 'hotword detection' in voice settings of the google now. There was also the screen off detection option but it was greyed out. I had the always listening in all apps option enabled and it was working greatly but the next day I woke up and the feature wasn't working so I went into settings and discovered that both of those options had disappeared (not greyed out but freaking disappeared), its some kind of google restriction, they are remotely restricting users from using these features for some unexplained reason.
Maybe its the same for u or it might be something else.
Same here, bit worked arter reboot
It works for a while after a reboot, but eventually stops working after a couple hours.
Looks like a common bug, I've seen some threads about this same issue (and I'm experiencing the same problem, too)

there is an option in Google Now -> Settings -> Voice -> OK google detection ....a check box exists here stating:
When Locked
Allow "OK Google" to start a voice search or action from a secure lock screen
so, it would seem that this is what was intended. perhaps what they meant here was that the screen has to be on and not timed out. dunno.
Yes, but screen has to be on. Only nexus 6 and 9 support GN with screen locked and off
Google search from locked screen works for a while and then stops. It's done this on my s4 and note 3. It is defenetly supposed to work from secure lock screen. In Google now settings there is a 3rd check box and you even get a warning stating anyone may be able to unlock your phone.
Google needs to fix this issue. I'm not sure what's up with these companies making screwed up software. Where are the devs, and why are they getting paid if they can't make flawless software. When I crash My car into a tree trying to unlock my phone and I press a law suit against google I'll bet they will fix it. Always takes a law suit to fix ****.
Oh. Anyone notice every app you've ever paid for or downloaded is under my apps "all" what's up with "all" I'll file my documents in my office under the "all" folder and see how quickly I get fired...Thanks for allowing me to rant.
Happy new year!

Major issue
Hi,
So my dad is completely blind and I'm looking for an android phone that supports the 'ok Google from any screen' option. I let my dad listen to how I could use the ok google command to change radio stations in the tunein radio app on my s7 edge without having to touch the screen or press any buttons.
That's an ideal way for my dad to use the tunein app, I have an old galaxy s2 which I flashed a lollipop custom rom onto the phone in the hope it would add the option to allow ok google from any screen but that options missing in the voice settings and instead only has the option to use it from within the google search app which is no good for him.
Would I be right in saying that any new ish phone that's running Android 5 or above would have the option to say ok google from any screen? Also the ability to enable ok Google voice control from the lock screen when using either a wired /Bluetooth headset would be even better for my dad to operate the phone, that function works on my s7 edge but doesn't work on my s2 with the custom lollipop rom even though the setting is enabled.

Google Play store says it's not compatible; I've tried various APKs and when I go to install they also say incompatible.
That sucks. What might be the cause? I know the S8 can install it.

As per the notes on the thread, this older version is the only one that fully works on Non-Nexus devices. The newer patched versions may install but are often buggy and lack the necessary framework for spam call rejection and other features.

Does your dialer have the voicemail tab? I'm on T-Mobile and have to use T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail app on my unlocked phone. You have to ensure that the Google Phone app is actually properly set as your default Dialer/Phone app. I had a similar problem until I did that. Under settings, go to apps and then click on "Configure apps" under the three dot overflow menu on the top right. Make sure the correct app is listed under "Phone app".
