My dad's Optimus T supposedly can't boot up after he took out the battery and the device has been never rooted or anything(stock). I can't take a look at the phone to see whats wrong, but I'm preparing for the worst and want to know how to flash stock rom with kdz to maybe get it back up and running. I found the KDZ file and I am wondering what else I would need besides that? I've never done this before and looking for advice. Also, my parents never bought warranty so do you think TMO will replace it because it was never rooted and it also has the dust problem. So would they replace it since it is defective product, but then again it's been a few months since we bought it.
Thanks.

well to be frankily honest with you, get yourself a job and start buying your own phones so that you can get warranties and insurance on your phone's also yes check with TMO about replacing the phone, no sense in using a utility like KDZ if you know nothing about it, I cant help you with KDZ, ive never had to use it and never will, but Im pretty sure there are tons of threads that can point you in the right direction

It wasn't my decision to buy warranty or not and this isn't my phone. I'm using KDZ as a last resort so I'm not 100% set on it. Going to see what TMO can do first, but I don't have any hopes that they will do anything.

well good luck to you on that, if you need any help, let me know and Ill try to get some info for you on w/e you need, keep me updated as to how KDZ works for you, I have no need for it but Im to damn lazy to actually do the research for a tool I wont use, the only problem I had was one phone I "accidently" semi-bricked, but was under warranty so I got it replaced and now my second phone is rooted, customed recovery and CM7 rom on it
If you haven't had a chance to take a look at the phone yet, then maybe you can start with that and trying something simple like taking out the battery, putting it back in, connecting the charger, and trying to turn on the phone? Then you can see what's going on. Maybe you'll want to try holding Power + Vol. down + Home to go into recovery from a turned off state. Keep in mind that stock recovery immediately begins its restore which (I think - custom recoveries spoil us) wipes user content.

Well, it's strange how it happened because this phone is completely stock and my dad or I never did anything to change anything to it. I really don't think it would get bricked just by removing the battery out.. I'll just have to wait until he gets back with the phone.
UPDATE: All phones have a 1 year warranty if something wrong with the phone so TMO took the phone in and sending a new one on the way.
Wait, so did you get a chance to look at it, or did someone else take it to TMO?

Hi xda ! I'm hoping someone can help me ! I have a Verizon LG g3 I was messing with custom rooms and I flashed cyanongen lolipop and decided I didn't like,it ( I know weird) but I flashed back the the Rom I liked prior and realized my phone didn't recognize the SIM anymore. So I tried different rooms and have come to the conclusion it won't read Sims anymore. I want to unroot and go to complete stock, I have tried the different ways online and I can't find how to change port settings. If someone could assist me in either flashing back or any ideas on why it won't recognize Sims because I want to fix it that would be great! i have tried all the common sense jazz, even got verizon to try to fix it on their end but nothing will work. the steps on the help sites i find look soo simple however i always get stuck on the "change port settings" option as i can find that option in my device manager, even had a friend try on his computer he is better with me in tech and we both couldnt figure it out! i really hope someone has some tips for me because I hate to have a great phone like that sitting around !!
thanks

If you have installed the correct Verizon drivers for your vs985 then your phone should show up as a COM device under the Ports section of Device Manager in Windows, if you are in download mode.
I did the same thing last night I ended up doing a factory reset on my phone after going back to stock ROM. Made sure everything was working and then rooted again and put a custom ROM back on it and now everything works don't know if this will help you but worth a shot.
Try formatting your sim card
FIXED thanks all for the replys

Seeking Stock Rom for soft bricked LG Sunset LGL33L on Straighttalk.
Hello, I need the help of xda on this one.
I installed kingroot on my LG Sunset (Lollipop) yesterday and everything was fine. Then I ran Super-Su-me and it soft bricked.
It won't get past the LG-Life's Good screen unless I leave it for 3 hours and then it moves to the Tracfone screen and stays like that.
I have searched all over for the stock rom for this phone and have not had any luck.
I am trying to use KDZ_1_4 to flash it but I need the correct .tot file and the .dll file
Can anyone help me on this one?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Tried to factory reset via stock recovery?

I have the same phone and same problem. rooted with kingroot, ran super-sume opened super su it downloaded and said it needed to reboot and in reboot it is stuck on lg screen. tried factory reset but it starts and goes back to lg screen and stays.
I'm in the exact situation as you. Have you been able to solve the issue yet?
I am pretty much having the same problem. My LG Sunset boots to the Tracfone screen and just sits there and does nothing. I cant even boot into recovery or anything.. I hope someone finds a solution to this cause I have not been able to use my phone for a few days.

Hey man, you need to get another phone asap. For tracfones, it's pretty much the end in cases like these. I actually got another exact (lgl21g) model from ebay, so that as soon as i get the time, will see how i can (if possible) get my softbricked device revived through my new one. But i have yet to research and at all costs, avoid softbricking my new one. As for now, no one else has any idea for a solution.
It kinda blows me away to know that the android community is completely oblivious to these kinds of recent low end, but useful android devices coming out on the straight talk service. For affordable androids, they're kinda neat. But it sucks that Tracfone has completely annihilated the essential utilities that such devices need in order to be revived by the user. I mean an actual bootloader menu to do modding and fixing through. The recovery option on these devices are pretty much useless.
But if you can. you should reply with a description that tells how your device was soft-bricked. As in, "did you use kingroot then Super SUME, which caused your device to freeze on LGs boot logo screen"? If so, then you are one of the many out there who xda needs to listen to, and heavily, i mean HEAVILY REGULATE these eff-ers [http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/supersu-please-t3110954]. Because they need to specifically do more research into why their S~H~I~T~T~Y app is... well, S~H~I~T~T~Y! There are people out there promoting this app as though it is absolutely flawless and works on any android, but such a claim is far away from the truth, and these crap-app makers are only breeding more effing lying trolls. And sadly XDA mostly supports those big thugs with flagship phones problems ONLY. Not the little people like us, we're kinda on our own. SuperSUME is not supposed to force anything on the phone if it's not compatible, working something like kingroot if not being able to find a root method, then just telling the user it failed. Instead SuperSUME does something that effs it all up. Which is pretty much worse than malicious s/ware by itself.
So just hang on to your broken fone for now since it's not completely lost. Though you can take it into walmart and see if you can get a replacement, but I cannot promise you that i could come up with a solution, since I'm learning this crap from scratch as well. The only lead i have for now is to "Flash the device with it's firmware", which we know tracfone isn't gonna just hand out like free air. Sadly i'll have to reach out to XDA developers to help me once i describe this issue and experiment with whatever software out there that can help, if god willing.
FYI I just saw your post and Straight Talk sent me a new phone lol. Of course I didn't mention that I was trying to root it. The problem was actually McAfee Security. I didn't think about switching the setting off that locks the phone down if it's rooted. I made sure I did that on the new one and KingRoot worked just fine. ?
I'd paid $180 in Asurion phone insurance as part of my Verizon plan over the last 18 months I've had my G3, and I think it may be time to finally use it.
Some time within the past several days, it appears I must have pressed too hard on my screen at some point because now, when the screen is dark/black, there is a reasonably noticeable 'smudge' (for complete lack of a better word) inside my screen that is a lighter color than the rest of everything else. I can't really seem to think of the correct words right now to describe it, but it's basically what you'd imagine would happen when you press a screen too hard. The fortunate thing is, it's really only noticeable when the screen is dark, but it's still enough to drive me nuts.
I had a few questions about Asurion. ~3 years ago, I paid my $100 deposit and sent my old Galaxy S3 in because I broke the screen. They sent me back a brand new phone. It was sealed in the original stock box and it came with everything a new phone does (headphones, cable, charger, all the paperwork.) Plus the phone was very clearly not a refurb; it was flawless. I was under the impression I was meant to either have the screen repaired on my phone or get a refurb, but I absolutely got a brand new phone. Maybe I was lucky.
But I understand that my experience likely wasn't typical. So I want to know, from people who have sent their faulty/broken phones in to Asurion:
- Did they fix your problem and send your old phone back? Or,
- Did you get a refurb? Or,
- Did you get a new phone?
Normally, I wouldn't care, but my serious concern is that I might get a new or refurb phone that has an updated OS. This brings me to my next question(s).
- If I get a new/refurb phone back from Asurion that is running 47A or something else relatively new, will I still be able to unlock my bootloader, install TWRP, root, and just generally get everything back to the way I have it now, loaded with customization and modifications? Or do the newer G3 updates keep the phone locked down permanently, in which case I'll be SOL? What's the most recent software update to which I'll be able to make all of my modifications to?
Sorry for the wall of text, but I just want to make sure I get everything cleared up. I would really like to get this screen issue repaired ASAP, but if there's any chance at all that I'll be stuck on stock un-rooted forever when I get the phone back, I'm not going to take that chance. But if it's trivial to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and root the newer updates like 47A, I'll be sending my phone in ASAP.
Thanks.
I haven't used Asurion since about 2009 so can't say much.
I can say that it doesn't matter what stock ROM a replacement would come with, including up to the latest which is 47A, you won't be stuck. Just flash the 10B TOT using the .DLL that was extracted from the 35B KDZ, root with the Stump app, install TWRP with TWRP Manager from the Play Store and flash whatever you want.
This might be a little late for you but had to replace my verizon vs985 lg g3 back in December. I paid my $100 copay, and Asurion sent me refurb. Even when it looks like a retail phone it's usually a refurb unless the phone is brand new and they haven't gotten any bad ones back to fix up. Asurion doesn't have a repair department. This is the first smartphone I've gotten through asurion, back in the days of flip phones I got a bunch of replacements and often I had to get 2-3 before I got a refurb that actually worked. This g3 worked ok on the first try, although I do have one weird rebooting issue, that started a week after I got it, and recently got way worse may or may not be hardware related, theoretically they should send me another refurb if it is hardware under their warranty(without another copay), but I have a feeling getting them to honor it will be a battle.
It came with Lollipop at the time, i forget if it was 5.0.1. or 5.1.1.

If I were you, before bothering try anything else I would restore to stock using the 10B TOT, because TOTs flash more partitions than KDZs and can fix weird issues that flashing KDZs and other ROMs can't.

My refurbished phone is stock never rooted never flashed verizon vs985 currently on 5.1.1. It reboots only during phone calls. Do you think rooting it and doing all that stuff you suggested, would be of any use to me?

I understand that. You don't have to root it - rooting isn't involved in what I'm suggesting; it's using official LG ROM files and the Windows software necessary to flash them. I'd flash the 10B TOT using the .DLL that's extracted from the 35B KDZ. Then I'd test the situation you describe while still on 10B and see if it reboots. If it doesn't, I'd flash the 47A KDZ and test it again.
Edit: unless you don't have the original USB cable. Always use the original USB cable that comes with a device when new to flash a phone from a PC.

There's no way of knowing if whoever actually refurbed the phone did what they should in order to return the software to a pristine condition. They obviously didn't QC their effort very well. It's possible they didn't even do anything to the phone. There's also no way of knowing if the person who owned the phone before it was refurbished ever rooted it. Even if they had (for example) flashed the 35B KDZ before they refurbished it (it's common to return to stock unrooted before turning a phone in under warranty), flashing KDZs doesn't solve as much as flashing TOTs does.
A couple of months ago I was having consistent weird issues that wouldn't go away no matter what ROM I flashed while rooted, or what KDZ I flashed. It wasn't until I flashed the 10B TOT that the issue went away - from there I was able to do again whatever I wanted (flashing ROMs, KDZs) without the issue returning.
Or you can exchange for another refurb and take a chance that you might get yet another different or worse half-effort fixed phone.
Hi guys, this might seem like a bit of a noob question so bear with me.
Wife's G4 is stuck in boot loop and is pretty much a paper weight at this point. I've seen the tutorial (link at bottom) about flashing in factory firmware to fix phones stuck in boot loop. Does this pertain to a phone that has never been messed with, and is in boot loop from the LG hardware issues that cause it? Or does it only apply to when you brick the phone from trying to flash custom roms or whatever into it?
The tutorial doesn't really specify if it will fix my issue or if I'm screwed since it's a hardware issue.
Also, I'm using a motorola usb cable, but I've used this same exact cable to connect to the same G4 before to copy pictures and stuff and it has worked. But I absolutely cannot get the phone to connect to the PC in download mode. Any ideas?
http://rootmygalaxy.net/unbrick-lg-g4-with-lg-flash-tool/
http://tool.lime.gdms.lge.com/client/app/LGMobileSupportTool.exe grab this and when you install it click install usb driver. Then, hold volume up and while holding it plug in the usb cable. Hold the button until you see download mode.
If you have never modified the software, then it's almost certainly the known LG hardware issue. You can send it to LG and they will fix it for free, though it will take a bit to get it back.
Well before I did too much more, I decided to try verizon again. The last lady I talked to seemed completely ignorant and not interested in helping at all. This time I ended up talking to a guy who was pretty knowledgeable and understood the issue with these phones. And we also pay for insurance on our phones, which I completely forgot about. So he ended up getting a new G4 overnighted to us at no charge. It showed up yesterday and thankfully booted up without any issue lol. So if nothing else, at least there's a happy end to the saga.
Thank you guys for the responses.
