[Q] Some question about kennel that i want to know the answer - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there, I am using an msm8610 quad core device (China) and it is now currently running 4.4.2 and running 3.4.0 kennel version
Now the moto e is running msm8610 with dual core, and some developer managed to port some custom Roms from from moto e.
And my question is, if I want to port some Roms from moto e, like cyanogenmod, or paranoid android or pacman (CM is already available, I just want to know), do I need to work on kennel?
And if I want to port android lollipop from moto e, is there a new version of kennel is needed or we can normally use the kernel of stock KitKat ROM?
BTW: I or we don't have any kernel source or device tree available for our device
And another thing is, an Indonesian developer managed to swap the SD card to internal storage in KitKat (by editing kennel, he just uploaded a boot.img patch on a recovery zip, we flashed it, and sdcard turned to be the primary storage), anyone knows how to do that?
:good: thanks :good:
 noob here

A few questions about porting

Hello,
I read alot lately about porting Lollipop (CM 12.1) to my device (Allview V1 Viper which is basically a rebranded Gionee Elife E3) but i have some questions:
1. As far as i understood, there are some problems with CM and Mediatek devices. However i saw some posts with people succeeding to boot CM 12.1 on these devices. Can this be achieved ?
2. If yes, can i use KitKat stock kernel with a Lollipop build ? (my common sense says no, but who knows ?) If no, how can i build a kernel for Lollipop for this device. I saw that Mediatek released kernel source, can that be used ? Also, can i use the drivers from KitKat ? If no, which and where should i get the drivers from ? Can i use any files from KitKat stock rom for a Lollipop port ?
This will clear some things for the beginning.
Thanks in advance

Using a pre-built MTK6589/8389 kernel in a custom (Lollipop) ROM

I've got an old Lenovo S6000 which, like every other Mediatek device, has incomplete source code for the drivers and the kernel. As a small project, I would like to try and get Android Lollipop up and running to an extent where:
the system boots to the GUI;
the Wi-Fi works;
and the touchscreen works.
just to start off.
The device currently is rooted, with ClockworkMod recovery installed, and I can create Android back-ups of the system. Could I potentially take the kernel and the proprietary blobs and build them in to a CyanogenMod 12 update? Or would the kernel have to be patched to support the new features in Lollipop (the current OS running on the device is Android 4.2.2, and there have been no other working attempts to create a custom ROM for the device)?
Thanks,
George
Sir I want to know Mediatek 6589 3.4.5 kernel can be used with any custom lollipop ROM or it need development for doing that? what can be done to update device with latest android ROM, what is required for developing ROM and kernel? Do all Mediatek 6589 chipsets share same kernel? because sony has released the source code for 3.4.5 kernel but I don't know how to use it for development of new ROM with latest android, how cyanogen do that?
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...es/open-source-archive-for-build-16-0-a-0-36/
this is the link to xperia c 3.4.5 kernel source code. please check it sir.

[request] cm 12.1/13

Hello everyone, I don't know if this is the right subforum to submit this topic so sorry btw
Is it possible that somebody please build a CM for this device (VF-895N)?
My device runs 5.0.2 stock Lollipop, 5.0 screen, rooted, has TWRP recovery 3.0.0.0, SDK21, Linux Kernel 3.10, unlocked bootloader...
The sources of the device were already published by Alcatel and there are already two ROMs for it out there. One is MIUI 7.6(5.1.1 Lollipop) Beta (ported from Moto G 2015 I think) and a full stock ROM without Vodafone apps, rooted and with a few customizations...
Please somebody make CM for this device! I would really appreciate it even if it's an alpha version I don't care! Just do it plz

Dual booting Gingerbread - Jelly bean - Nougat , without only one kernel

hi everyone,
i am searching a way to dual boot (or triple boot) my galaxy s2 between gingerbread(stock), jelly bean (stock) and nougat (aosp)
i don't want to be dependent from one kernel, simply i want a method similar to dual boot patcher.
i tried this application but i9100 device is not supported.
maybe i can select galaxy S3 i9300 in the configuration of dual boot patcher, but i don't want to risk to brick my loved S2
i don't know... but i really need a way to do this triple boot without depending from a kernel and storing rom files in the user storage (/data or internal storage... or external sd...)

Dual boot requires a kernel that supports it like DorimanX kernel, which will never support Nougat (I'm not personally going to update it).
You can dual boot stock jelly bean and lollipop, but that is as far as you can get (marshmallow dual boot support is unknown and most likely is broken).
Dual booting gingerbread and newer android versions is impossible as there is no kernels known for allowing this.
Saber.
Lineage Nougat
LineageOS 14.1 has everything thought of, as far as i understand, but can it be flashed ontop of a stock orange gingerbread ROM? i1900P(withNFS)?

Stock ROM 6.x from Moto E2 ported to Moto E1 Condor ? Exist ?

Hello
I'm looking for but can not find.
Is there a stock ROM Android 6.x ported from Moto E 2 to Moto E1 Condor? I am seeking a way to start the SD card as internal storage. Link2SD does not work as I expect especially for system applications. I would prefer a solution built into 6.x
I know that there are many customs ROMs but stock ROM suits me.

Ask @lost101
I'm not aware of a port, but in theory it can be done. Perhaps I can make some helpful suggestions if someone wants to attempt it; but I'm not in a position to do the port myself.
Hello
ok, I understand and wait, maybe someone once do it
Regards
