1. It extract files out of the images.
2. Yes, make backup in xRecovery, then extract system.img.
3. Make sure you dont write .img at end, put your img files in same folder as unyaffs.
4. I dont think its possible.
you might want to note in the original post that modified sin files can't be flashed w/ the flash tool, if thats what your reply means.
i'd assume that, but not everyone would.. and maybe note the download is for win32 only.
thanks!

Converting img files to clockworkmod zips

Hi,
The company Ainol release their latest updates as img files which we than have to flash using a program called livesuit. Does anyone know the process (or have any tips) on converting these img files to clockworkmod zip files?
I can extract the system and kernel files using something similar to this tutorial: http://www.techknow.t0xic.nl/forum/index.php?topic=1679.0
That tutorial explains how to modify the img file and then repack as img. I tried moving the system directory and the kernel & ramdisk over into a clockworkmod zip that i know works and overwrote the files in that with the one i had extracted.
when i try to install it, i get the e: cant open cwmzip.zip
(bad)
any ideas? Maybe i need to get the updater binary from the extracted files somehow?

It really all depends, how many images? What are the images called? What are in each of the images if there is more then one?
thanks for replying, i think i have it right. I ran a log and saw that there was an invalid filename in my zip and sure enough, i looked in the app folder and saw a file with a lot of chinese characters. Deleting this file has sorted this problem
Thanks for replying anyways!

What tool did you use? I never heard of .hrf files in allwinner's images. You should get .fex files using ImageRepacker

now you have to make an update zip and flash it through CWM/TWRP recovery!
(assuming that your phone has custom recovery installed)

If you have Windows use 7-zip and view the archive so when you right click onto an app within you'll see a "delete" option which should work. If your on linux install p7zip-full to your system to do the same

Sounds good boss! It should work as long as your system.img isn't sparse
If the *. zip has a system image you can also do the same with EXT2 explorer (Windows) for EXT4 images

Yes, there is a boot.img but no such system folder to delete apps. I know that Android Kitchen can edit these type of files.

If you see a system.new.dat or system.new.dat.br you can convert it to a system.img
1) Mount somewhere on your PC the system.img contained in the zip file of your ROM
2) Remove these directories :
Code:
/priv-app/GoogleBackupTransport
/app/GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter
/priv-app/SamsungCalendarProvider
/app/Chrome
/app/ChromeCustomizations
/app/GoogleContactsSyncAdapter
/app/Drive
/priv-app/GoogleFeedback
/app/Gmail2
/priv-app/Velvet
/priv-app/HotwordEnrollmentOKGoogleCORTEXM4
/priv-app/HotwordEnrollmentXGoogleCORTEXM4
/app/Hangouts
/app/Maps
/priv-app/GmsCore #Google Play Services
/priv-app/GoogleServicesFramework
/priv-app/Phonesky #Play Store
/app/Photos
/app/YouTube
3) Unmount and repack the ROM
4) Clean flash + wipe Dalvik/ART cache
But what the point of doing this ? Can't you just flash a Google debloat script for your device ? What phone do you have ?
