[Q] WiFi issue on Tizen 2.3 on RD-PQ (M0) - Tizen Software Development

I've found my RD-PQ on the shelf and decided to upgrade it to 2.3
That was a pretty easy procedure, although with 2.3 it's totally empty.
The most discouraging thing is that WiFi fails to connect.
There are several mentions of that problem at https://developer.tizen.org/ru/forums/general-support/tizen-2.3-rd-pq-device-available but no solutions or at least clues there.
Are there any options to debug it?
The only thing I could imagine was to connect to device console in sdb and check wpa_supplicant that was working somehow.
With 2.2.1 WiFi works fine.
What else can be done around it?

Ya need driver isntalled I think. Drivers is non free licensed and ya need to ask for it somewhere in dear Samsung company.

Tolko schas uvidel... Napishi na maemo.su, sprosi u Kirilla, k primeru, bolshe tolku budet. Zdes ne populyaren Tizen.

I have my RD-PQ only since 1 month... so I am newbie...
Since yesterday I saw first time 2.3.1 and WiFi complete not work... not able to find any thing... Scan not finish...
Installed files...
Code:
tizen-2.3.1-mobile_20150921.1_mobile_boot.tar.gz
[B]tizen-2.3.1-mobile_20150921.1_mobile_target.tar.gz[/B]
Then I have only flashed filesystem:
Code:
[B]tizen-2.3-mobile_20150812.1_mobile_target.tar.gz[/B]
So I mixed 2.3.1 Kernel with Filesystem from 2.3... and my WiFi now detect devices + I am able to connect to hidden network.
I need something to install to check if connection is not fake... but for now this is more as 2.3.1
I will later compare...
If usr/apps is bigger difference... between 2.3 and 2.3.1...
Later more...
Best Regards

...I know how to fix the wifi connection on Tizen 2.3 and 2.3.1 for a RD-PQ device. The problem is that some links in the os are not properly created.
Basically you need to install the usleep package (https://download.tizen.org/releases...rmv7l/packages/armv7l/usleep-1-5.2.armv7l.rpm), it's for Tizen 2.2.1, but it does work for 2.3 and 2.3.1. After that, create two links that the wlan.sh shell script is expecting, and are not in the proper location.
ln -s /usr/sbin/modprobe /sbin/modprobe
ln -s /usr/sbin/rmmod /sbin/rmmod
Or, alternatively, you can pull the /usr/bin/wlan.sh file via sdb pull, change the /sbin/modprobe and /sbin/rmmod lines to /usr/sbin/modprobe and /usr/sbin/rmmod.
After doing that, from the phone, open Wifi and clicking on the green button will activate the wifi correctly and you will be able to connect to any wifi hotspot.
You can skip using the ui and perform the following commands :
/usr/bin/wlan.sh start
this will activate the wlan0 interface, which you can check by issuing a ifconfig command.
/usr/sbin/wpa_supp.sh start
this will start wpa supplicant.
Check if connmand is running (ps -ax and check the list), if not, you need to do :
systemctl start connman
systemctl enable connman

[BUGLIST] AOSP 2.2 ROM Bugs and Fixes | Post questions here

If you ...
find a bug or problem on 2.2, post here
find a solution on how to fix the bug, post here
want to get help on how to fix the bug, post here
anything else, goes here
This thread are meant for bug/problem solution and reported bug list of 2.2 custom ROM which i will try to manage, so people are not posting same bug, and asking for same solution all over again in X10 Custom ROM AOSP thread.
Limitation
Cannot Mount via USB
2.2 Custom ROM put the SYSTEM partition on your phone memory and the DATA partition in your SD card. That is why you cannot dismount the SD card from Android to mount to your PC.
No App2SD
2.2 Custom ROM is still running on 2.1 Custom Kernel which not supporting this.
Bug list
#0001 - WiFi not working - Fixed on 2.2
#0002 - Random android.process.media force close - Fixed on 2.2
#0003 - Home button not working, and no Lock Screen - Fixed on 2.2
#0004 - Cannot install certain APK (Angry Bird)
#0005 - No radio, no network and flashing Home - New on 0.0.2
#0006 - ADB shell have SU access, but Titanium Backup cannot work - New on 0.0.2
#0007 - SD Card non-ascii folder show as ???
#0008 - Facebook Contact Sync not available
#0009 - CPU Governor set to performance by default
Solutions for bugs
#0001 - How to enable WiFi on 2.2 Custom ROM
1. Try to enable WiFi, of course it will not work.. just do it.
2. WiFi will goes off automatically
3. Run
Code:
adb shell /system/bin/wlan_tool
4. If the adb stucks, just press CTRL+C
5. Repeat step 4 until you crash the phone
6. After reboot, your WiFi will work.
or
Code:
adb shell killall servicemanager
Post Reference
#0002 - android.process.media FC solution
0.0.1 compiled with prefilled databases which invalid for your phone
Code:
adb shell
cd /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases
rm *
reboot
or this will ensure no invalid data anymore but will remove fixes for bug #0003
Code:
adb shell
cd /data/
rm -r data
mkdir data
reboot
Post Reference
#0003 - Fix Home Button & Lock Screen
Download sqlite here
First pull the db file first.
Code:
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db settings.db
Then add value to its content
Code:
sqlite3.exe settings.db
sqlite> INSERT INTO "secure" VALUES(67,'device_provisioned','1');
sqlite> .exit
Then push back the db
Code:
adb push settings.db /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Then reboot.

#0004 - Solving installing APK problems
Currently the 2.2 Custom ROM does not support app2sd, and some APK may configure it self to be installed in sdcard.
So we force it to install on internal with code below
Code:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 1
adb install -l com.rovio.angrybirds.apk

#0007 - Fixing SD card mount command to show unicode letters
Modify your chargemon file so its enables utf8 for non ascii letter.
You need to do this on 2.1 ROM, not 2.2 ROM. The file is located in /system/bin
look for this
Code:
mount -t vfat -o rw,noatime,nodiratime /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sd
and change into this
Code:
mount -t vfat -o rw,noatime,nodiratime,utf8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sd
Notes:
You must use a Unix/Linux format capable text editor for this. Notepad will not work.
You can try ultraedit for it.

2.2 Custom ROM FAQ
How and what happened if upgrade from 0.0.1 to 0.0.2?
Just copy data.img and system.img replacing your current one in FreeX10 folder.
This will replace all your 0.0.1 data, be sure to back up first with Titanium Backup
WiFi is running and connected, but cannot browser
This problem seems to be occurring on selected few.. You can set static IP to your android.
Go to Settings -> Wireless ... -> WiFi, then press menu button. From there you can se static IP
Is there a possibility of Timescape and Mediascape for 2.2 Custom ROM
The answer is yes, its possible.
I managed to install Mediascape.apk into 2.2 Custom ROM, but cannot run.
The reason it cannot run is because UX is using a lot of things in Framework-res.apk, images, layout, styles, and etc which cannot be copied directly from SE 2.1 into 2.2 AOSP. It requires someone to properly put all values, resolving conflicts inside Framework-res.apk before the UX can run, which will take months or at least weeks if someone dedicated his or her day job for it. Then after that we still need to deal with external files. So in conclusion, while it still possible, i don't think anyone will do it because of the time demanding process.
I want to help devs solving bugs, i found one but i don't know what actually happend.
While usb connected, from command prompt, type
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
This will output a lot of debugging info into logcat.txt file, later if you find bug, you take a look inside the file.
See anything error or info related to the bug, and post here.. When writing the logcat.txt output, but them inside
Code:
brackets.
Do not post everything.. post few lines related to the bugs.
2.2 Custom ROM Testing Tools
Service Menu
WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THIS UNLESS YOU DO DEVS, END USER DO NOT INSTALL
PURPOSE: MAYBE FOR TESTING DEVICE FEATURE, MIGHT BREAK SYSTEM APPS
Enable SE Service Menu for device testing. For devs only. You need to put adb stuff in the directory for install.bat to run.
Install framework
Code:
adb push permissions /system/etc/permissions
adb push lib /system/framework
adb reboot
Install applications
Code:
adb install app\bootinfo3.apk
adb install app\ServiceMenu2.apk
adb install app\com.laac.launcher.servicemenu.apk
Nice work. THis is handy
As i posted in the Main thread!
I think some of the force closes, (mainly acore and google framework) and the fact that the market crashes, come down to importing a vcard!
I imported vcard, get many force closes, market stops working, I clean install and don't install the vcard. Everything functions fine.
I do believe this is the reason!
Greeet ~~!! but can u tell me the seloution of this proplem :

[Q] OpenVPN on stock (rooted) 10.1 3G - how to get/create tun.ko

Hi!
I successfully use(d) OpenVPN with the available tun.ko versions on my Galaxy Tab.
I tried to move that to the brand new European version of the 10.1 (no V, GT-P7500, Kernel 2.6.36.3, [email protected] #1, buildnr HMJ37 P7500XXWKG9, baseband XXKG7, ). But obviously, there is no tun.ko in the kernel and the available versions of tun.ko do not work with the 3.1 Honeycomb kernel.
Does anybody has compiled a tun.ko for this kernel already or can guide/tell me, how to do this myself?

Moving to Q&A
I am searching badly for a solution tu use PPTP VPN on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (no v) 3G, too!
In the meantime, I learned that tun.ko is part even of the stock kernel. Nevertheless, I did not get it running with the setup I used on my Galaxy Tab.
Are you sure? I did a search for the file but nothing was found.
if preshoot already upload his git sources, I can do this for you guys.
Just wait for him,to upload his latest sources...

That would be nice.
richardtrip here told me, that tun.ko is already in the stock kernel.
I am presently trying to find out what detail makes problems in the connection to my Linux server. A connection is established, but not fully and yet not useable.
Hi!
I did some experiments with my OpenSuse 10.3 server and the Tab 10.1.
With the tun-device, I can establish a connection. But the 10.1 does not receive its address in the VPN network, ifconfig does not show the tun-device as device.
The same configuration which works flawlessly on my Galaxy Tab does not work on the 10.1.
Perhaps somebody is experienced with the OpenVPN configuration in this case.
Some more findings:
The device used is tap, but tunctl must be called to create a persistent tapx.
tunctl expects /dev/net/tun which must be either created by a symlink (/dev/tun exists, mkdir /dev/net, ln -s /dev/net/tun /dev/tun) or must be added with parameter -f on commandline.
It also seems that ifconfig has different parameters than on my Galaxy Tab. Starting OpenVPN from commandline, it complains about route/ifconfig with wrong parameters.
With special thanks to Amarok, I could get his solution also working on my Tab 10.1:
Install Busybox from Market
Install OpenVPN Installer from Market and install to
binaries: /system/xbin
route/ifconfig: /system/xbin/bb
Create /system/xbin/bb with Root Explorer or from shell
Create link to busybox for ifconfig and route
ln -s /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/route
ln -s /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/ifconfig
Check permissions for /system/xbin/openvpn, it should be 777 (rwxrwxrwx)
Using the openvpn binary from my galaxy tab (copy into /system/xbin, chmod 777) got OpenVPN finally working.

The last step ? From you which tab did you copy openvpn ? Is it possible to get the specific openvpn. Still not working on my side.

So the tun.ko with stock works? When I run openvpn from either cli or openvpn settings tab it'll connect but I get no ip address. The only errors I'm getting are " Options error: Unrecognized option or missing parameter(s) in [PUSH-OPTIONS]:4: route (2.1.1)". So is using the attached openvpn binary all it took?

What about tun.ko???? I run the same GT as you though 7500 3.1 ??
As already stated, tun.ko is part of the stock firmware.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1 using Tapatalk.
I dont find tun.ko on my GT when I search with root explorer..
my tun.ko is located in /data/media/openvpn/openvpn/tun.ko
On my Tab, a separate tun.ko is not required. OpenVPN works anyway, as that seems to be an integral part of the kernel.
I'm trying to use the openvpn settings as well but when I try to connect I get
"Fatal:Cannot allocate TUN/TAP dev dynamically"
and when I try to insmod tun.ko using adb, I get this error:
"init.module 'tun.ko' failed <Exec format error>
I'm using pershoot's most up to date kernel (yesterday) with the tun.ko file that was included with it. I also tried with the one supplied in this thread as a .rar file and I received the same errors.
Any ideas?

Hey everybody.
I also have some problem with openvpn connection.
At first i turn on openvpn the start the configuration (at the same time i started a ping on my server: ping 300.300.300.300 -t)
After that my ping works for 12 - 14 times. After the 12 + 14 times then it shows "out of time" error message.
What have i done wrong? (Every 5 seconds at the bottom of my tab it shows "myvpn.openvpn: Connected"
Preferences:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Rooted
Android 3.1
Newest Busybox
Done everything from the tutorial of this topic
Update: When i turn the tun module on then the ping only works for about 9 times.
After about 20 failed pings, the pink works again for the amount i wrote.

Solved: WiFi TXpower app error issue with missing iwconfig file

Want to save power when WiFi Tethering... try WiFi TXpower. You can find it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbibpepper.WiFiTxPower
Solution for missing IWCONFIG file:
1. Download the first attachment "iwconfig.txt" (default save location is '/mnt/sdcard/download')
3. Open 'File Manager'
a. Select: 'Menu' -> 'More' -> 'Settings' -> scroll down paste 'donate' (which you should do!)
b. Select: Mark Yes for both checkbox options of "Root Explorer" & "Mount System Folders"
3. Navigate your path over to '/mnt/sdcard/download' and find & rename the file "iwconfig.txt" to 'iwconfig'
4. COPY the file, and navigate your path over to '/system/xbin' and PASTE the file. It may say it wasn't pasted, but scroll down and the file will be there.
5. Launch busybox 'terminal emulator' and type these two commands:
# su
# chmod 755 /system/xbin/iwconfig
6. Boot up WiFi TXpower and verify that the iwconfig error message is gone, and that you do not get a 'iwconfig' permissions error. You should see "iwconfig" and "eth0" titles and all the signal and power stats listed in the app. Lower numbers, less range, and greater batter life.
7. Enjoy! If this has helped you, please hit the "Thanks" button below.
Backstory:
Problem is, this app needs a file 'iwconfig' to be installed in '/system/xbin' and this directory is R/O (read-only, write protected). There are a few ways to do this;
adb push to install the file
Find an APP that will install iwconfig for you
Symlink the file if its somewhere else
Copy & Paste File yourself
I'm old school, so I like to have a hard copy of the file anywhere its needed, and at 30.4 KB, who cares. So following the 80% help link below, I downloaded the 'iwconfig.tar' file, extracted the internal file, and started trying to copy it into '/system/xbin'. From this same site, I used fragments of commands in the busybox 'terminal emulator' to finish the install after the file was copied into the directory. I used '# chmod 755' to set the permissions on the new file, so WiFi TXpower could use it.
"Quoted from:
# su
# cd /mnt/sdcard/download — (this assumes the download location of the file)
# tar –xf iwconfig.tar — (this was to extract the single file from inside the tar file)
# mount –o rw,remount /system — (I couldn't get this command to work, but you can try next line below instead)
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /system /system — ccdreadcc line of code, that looks like it would work, I received no terminal emulator errors when attempting.
# cp iwconfig /system/xbin — (Above didn't work, so I copy & paste this file in 'File Manager' as I couldn't get 'Root Explorer' to do it, it wouldn't R/W '/system')
# chmod 755 /system/xbin/iwconfig — (You will need this later to correctly set permissions on 'iwconfig', if you don't you will get a "permission denied" error in the WiFi TXpower App)
"

Unknown id: wlan0.
when I select 4dBm, there is no indication it worked. In terminal I run iwconfig, and it shows that the setting took effect! My stock power is 1496, which seems to be my max. Selecting 11dbm works, but 18, 25 and 32 do not. I am guessing my wifi adapter will not allow anything over 1496.
If I had iw and ifconfig on my device I could try this to force a higher speed:
ifconfig wlan0 down
iw reg set BO<--------------is an o not a 0
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 channel 13
iwconfig wlan0 txpower 30
any suggestions how to pull this off.. I can install this on a debian destro, but there's no point to that... if I can get the iw and ifconfig on my andriod OS, maybe I can force it higher than 1496...
Tried this.. Surprisingly, it's also working on my Nexus 7 (2012) too..
Not that is requires wireless extensions.
Code:
[email protected]:/data/data/bcmon/misc $ ./iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
svnet0 no wireless extensions.
ifb0 no wireless extensions.
ifb1 no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.
ip6tnl0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 no wireless extensions.
In last Samsung Aries kernel, it's one of these:
Code:
CONFIG_WIRELESS=y
CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT=y
CONFIG_WEXT_CORE=y
CONFIG_WEXT_PROC=y
CONFIG_WEXT_SPY=y
CONFIG_WEXT_PRIV=y
CONFIG_CFG80211_WEXT=y
CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT_SYSFS=y
iwconfig has no effect on tx-power
This is great, thank you.
Unfortunately, when I followed all the instructions, got the iwconfig file from this thread, renamed it, successfully put it into system/xbin/, and then ran "iwconfig wlan0 txpower 2dBm" and then "iwconfig wlan0" the tx-power level is unchanged. It is still listed as 19 dBm. There's no error message.
Any ideas?
Does the "iwconfig [interface] txpower" command need to be run in a certain manner for it to have effect?
(I'm running a nightly build of Cyanogenmod 11 on a Moto G 4G.)
Yes, it's works on SGS4 i9506 4.4.2 after install iwconfig/iwmulticall. The signal is really changing, I see it when checking with other devices.
"iwconfig" shows txpower=31dbm for wlan0 (on other devices - S3, S5 and Tab - it shows 1496dbm)
I send command "iwconfig wlan0 txpower %%" with different values, but only 4, 11, 18, 25 and 31 works (yes, the last is not 32).
How can i increase it for better signal?
sorry for my english!
Thanks
Also I tried this:
iwconfig wlan0 sens -90
but
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported on transport endpoint.
Is it needs orher diriver for wifi?
it doesn't work on lollipop
any ideas how to make it work on lollipop
Same here. Any solutions for Lollipop iwconfig?

Answering my own question:
You see this error because android doesnt want you to run old binaries on new version of system (as google explains, if I got the idea correctly)
To rebuild the binaries for new system is pretty complicated, so you can just fool the system by changing 17th byte in current (not working) binary file
Open some hex editor (online version for example: hexed.it), find the 17th byte (counting from 1, as humans do) and change it from 02 to 03
This byte (as I now see) is the first byte on 2nd string in the hex editor
Good luck
Try to edit, but the result "Segmentation Fault" :3

[Q] Spoofing MAC address on the Nexus 7 FLO with KitKat

I recently bought a Nexus 7 Flo tablet running the latest Android 4.4. I've since been trying to spoof a MAC address on it, but for some reason the wireless card seems to refuse to use the spoofed mac no matter what I do.
There's a more detailed discussion what I've tried in android.stackexchange.com/questions/57922/wifi-network-not-accessible-with-modified-mac-address (forum won't let me link), but I'll repeat the main points here. I have tried both ip link set wlan0 address XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and busybox ifconfig wlan0 hw ether XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. They both result in the MAC address being changed as far as I can tell from the output of ip link and busybox ifconfig, but when connecting to a network with MAC filtering with the spoofed MAC address being allowed, the device fails to connect. /sys/class/net/wlan0/address also shows the spoofed address. If I use the device's stock MAC and add this to the filter on the AP, then the device connects successfully.
Has anyone experienced anything similar on KitKat devices?

No, unfortunately not. I ended up buying a Samsung Galaxy S II where I can change the MAC successfully for demo purposes. I would still really like to get this working on an up-to-date tablet though..
Bummer. Okay, thanx.

Interesting...
There seems to be a couple of suggestions here that I will try when I get back to work next week:
- Enable Airplane mode before changing the MAC, then turn airplane mode off again and your WiFi should work
- Deleting /persist/wifi before changing the MAC
- Using this spoofing app
Good news everyone!
/persist/wifi/.macaddr seems to be the key to changing the MAC, *and* it allows the MAC to be changed *permanently*!
Code:
$ adb shell
$ su
# cd /persist/wifi
# echo -n "112233445566" > .macaddr
# ^D
$ ^D
$ adb reboot
And voilà, MAC changed even after reboot, and connects without a problem!

Hi,
I stumbled upon your post. I'm trying to do the same on my Nexus 5. I found your method works in changing my MAC address but it doesn't change to the string I put in the quotes. What I found is that the address I end up with is the unicode values of the first 6 characters. Is there some special format for this file?
Thanks!

Hmm, that's quite strange. From what I remember, simply using echo worked fine for me.
What you can do instead is this:
Code:
echo -ne '\x11\x22\x33\x44\x55\x66' > .macaddr
Let me know if it works!

I'm guessing for some reason on the Nexus 7 it uses a text file but a binary file on the Nexus 5...
I also found a couple of ways to activate the new MAC address without requiring a reboot. This is useful if you want to be able to change MAC address dynamically using Tasker or similar.
The least obtrusive method I found is adding:
busybox ifconfig wlan0 down
busybox ifconfig wlan0 up
commands after the echo command. This will briefly turn off the WiFi adapter and when it comes back on it will have the new MAC address. I actually found the busybox ifconfig wlan0 up command isn't strictly necessary, at least on the Nexus 5, as it seems to get reactivated automatically after you take it down.
You can confirm the new MAC is in effect by opening a new terminal emulator window and running:
busybox ifconfig wlan0
Interestingly, if you go into Wifi Settings, under advanced settings it still shows the old MAC address but the WiFi adapter is clearly running with the new one as indicated by ifconfig and the ability to connect to a MAC filtered router.
Alternatively, toggling on then off airplane mode will also activate the new MAC and it even shows the new MAC under the advanced WiFi settings.
I like the first option as you'd be able to automate dynamic changes for a particular network without the risk of interrupting voice or cellular data connections when it happens.

I tried using the approach above to reset the MAC on-the-fly, but it doesn't seem to work on my Nexus 5 4.4.4.
For now I'm sticking with "reboot" at the end of my .sh script, which works well. Any thoughts / advice are appreciated. Thanks!

PS: I'll give more shots also more instructions very soon. Thanx.
Another PS: I'll give more news about Jolla sailfish os very soon.
But I need to tell this, I've got i9300 defconfig kernel for Jolla sailfishos very similar to defconfig i9305 kernel and I got it compiled with very success on hadk Ubuntu chroot on mine Ubuntu 14.04 LTS version.

I've successfully built boot and recovery images, packed the zip for flashing in recovery but there is a problem with the boot.img.
I'm trying to find out why it doesn't boot (the phone stays at the galaxy logo)
The actual guide for porting misses some stuff and there are errors here and there. Besides, there is a problem with the trusty chroot, quantal is working.
Aye. I've notice that.
I'm fixing some issues in quantal chroot.
E.g. inside the sources.list I add the 12.04 lts mirrors. Made by a website with the sources.list for 12.04 lts mirrors.
Yeah. I've done the boot kernel image and it made the same as you.
But with meld diff I've compared the i9305 defconfig with mine i9300 defconfig.
I'm going to test it with the changes meld diff made with a comparison with i9305 defconfig.
Now I made a make systemtarball and I'll try a make bootimage or a make factory_image for it.

It would be great if you could make it to boot.
I will try to compile the kernel with CONFIG_CMDLINE="console=tty0" . I'm hoping that would direct kernel panic message to the screen so we could idenfity what the problem is with booting hybris-boot.img
So... Any development?

Hi, I've also been trying to port sailfish os to i9300. I've been successful in creating an image that works, i.e. got it to boot into sailfish but there are some issues that I haven't been able to fix, like for instances, the wlan is detected but fails to establish a connection with any network, GSM is also not working. A full list with details can be found here https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris
Maybe we should try to work together to get a fully functional sailfish os image
Cheers

The phone may be stuck at the galaxy logo, but there's a way to debug to find out what's wrong, follow this steps (only tested on linux):
1) connect your phone with the computer, the initramfs in boot.img will create a network interface (phone's ip is: 192.168.2.15) and enable a telnet deamon (default port: 23) and also a udhcp server, so luckily the computer will ask for an ip that everything will be set up automatically. If not try configuring static ip (192.168.2.20 and adding a route to 192.168.2.0)
2) telnet 192.168.2.15
3) when you're in the telnet session, you can check /diagnostic.log (i think) it will show why the boot failed. It is possible to execute commands into the init, by writing to (/init-ctl/stdin)
When logged into the telnet session it will dump a bit of information, be sure to read it as is useful .
Also check HADK 9.2 Operating Blind on an Existing Device
PS: the files may contain mistakes as I wrote this post without checking for the correct names (I don't have sailfish flashed at the moment).
Also consider visiting the IRC channel (#sailfishos-porters), if you're not doing it already
Hope it helps

well maxAndroided all I can say at the moment is that the OS looks very promising... the UI is very smooth. Is another approach to mobile interaction based on gestures. I'm really loving it, sadly I can used it for day to day activities yet.
The jolla phone at the moment is able to run android apps and hopefully soon that will be available for any image built for android phones. So what that means is that if you don't find a suitable native app for sailfish os, you can always run your favorite android app in sailfish os
Anyone that wants to help bring sailfish os to i9300 is welcome to help, so if you have any idea on how to debug and fix the issues let me know

yes @msri3here technically that is what i'm doing, its using RIL lib based on cm10.1.3 that was working fine before I flash sailfish, but on sailfish the log that RIL daemon dumps is really a mess and haven't figure out why is failing. One thing that I've notice is that RILD (one of its child process) creates the socket at /dev/socket/rild but it's killed afterwards, the sockets disappear and the process restarts all over again
Stracing RILD is not helping either as it seems that everything is Ok.
I'm trying to buy a new smartphone for day to day use so I can dedicate more time to debug on my i9300.
