Chromecast icon disappearing - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on a stock Nexus 9, wifi only device.
chromecast shows up sometimes, and doesn't sometimes... this is using netflix.
sometimes cast screen thru the pull down says no chromecast, but youtuube shows the chromecast button.
this gets super annoying, plus wifi drops constantly... which could be a symptom or a casue of the chromecast problems...
anyone have similar issues?

Yep had this with my chromecast, not sure if it was down to my N9 being on the 5GHZ network and CC being on the 2.4ghz or what (did it whether I merged the sids or not tho). Since got a Nexus Player and wired it using a usb ethernet adapter and its been fine for casting, so it would seem it was some kind of wifi related issue preventing the nexus seeing the chromecast that I had before.

Netflix is sensitive to the accessibility of the "whitelist" server. If the chromecast can't connect to the whitelist server, then netflix won't even show the cast icon. This can be especially obvious if you happen to be running eureka on it, since they default to their OWN whitelist server, which is down a lot more often then google's.

Chromecast disconnecting bluetooth audio

I have started having this issue where, when Bluetooth headphones are connected for call and media audio, and my device interacts in some way with the Chromecast integration, the media connection disconnects, and any currently playing media audio starts blaring from the speakers. I'm a heavy bluetooth user, so this is a huge annoyance and occasionally embarrassing.
Two situations where this consistently happens:
- I connect to my home wifi network when the TV connected to the Chromecast is on.
- I play a YouTube video in the browser (which has poor Chromecast integration as is).
I've noticed other scattered posts talking about Bluetooth switching off or switching profiles due to Chromecast. Anyone else having Bluetooth issues due to having a Chromecast?
My device: Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3, stock, rooted with Xposed.

Force data connection via LTE rather than connected wifi (g850a so no root for me)

I'm curious about being able to force my phone to use it's LTE data connection rather than a wifi network that it's connected to.
Here's why:
In my car, I have a head unit with a chromecast input through the hdmi port in the back. I put the chromecast there specifically to cast my phone's screen onto the head unit. Chromecast's screencasting works PERFECTLY for this purpose and I'm super happy with the performance
The problem comes in when I get to the fact that the chromecast can't cast my screen without an active internet connection. The dongle needs to download the casting app each time it starts, apparently.
My plan is to purchase a freedompop hotspot and go for the free 500mb a month plan, as the casting software for the chromecast is very small. The LTE connection on my phone is not an option because i'm not able to root, as well as whatever complications would arise from being the device broadcasting a network that it has to connect to.
What I'm trying to avoid is allowing my phone to consume data over the wifi network that it will have to connect to on order to cast its screen to the chromecast and my head unit.
I'm open to other creative solutions if you have any ideas. Miracast was an option, but after attempting to use a roku stick for that purpose, i've found that miracast and the Alpha aren't really good friends yet. If anybody knows of a miracast dongle that works well with the alpha, please share!

Help! Netflix Error with Linksys Range Extender

I have a new RE6500 range extender connected to my wireless router. When it is active and connected the netflix apps on both my phone and tablet crash. I have a S6 and Samsung Tab s2 8". I've tried different versions of the app and Netflix support says it's the extender's fault. Any tips? Here is a screen record of the crash when I try to load the Netflix app. https://youtu.be/iorIh7kHi0I
It's a real bummer because part of the reason we got the extender was for streaming at this end of the house. :crying:
I found this link: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/39116 but that's not really a solution at all.
Same issue
Did you manage to get it to work? I have the same problem, I'm using a Nexus 6P running Nougat.

Chromecast Issues

Is it just me or is there a problem with LG G5 (H860) connecting to Chromecast?
I can't get to connect to my 2 chromecast devices on my TV using my new LG G5 (H860) cellphone. Also tried Localcast and YouTube. It still won't connect.
My other devices work alright (Samsung Tab A) connecting to the chromecast device. I've also tried a different chromecast unit and it still won't connect
See screenshots for reference.
Well.. I have a fully working screen casting.
One with the older model Chromecast and one with the new model.
Just used one of them today and earlier this week the other..
Tried to reboot your device and chromecast?
Edit.
I have a H850 model

I have the LG G5 LS992 (Sprint-US variant) and CHromecast works just fine. I tried Youtube, Netflix and Spotify with no problem.
You are not alone in this problem. I too have the LG G5 and have begun noticing connection issues with this specific handset.
I can usually get it to connect without issue and begin the streaming process, then somewhere along the line, the phone disconnects on it's end of things while the media continues playing on my home theater or my TV and I then have zero control over what's playing.
I'll also see intermittent flashes of the cast button on my phone's screen and when I go to connect, it asks for the CC's pin. Problem is, once something's streaming, you can't see the pin, so I have to unplug any and all power to the CC to get it back to working order. I have one in my living room and one in my bedroom and both will disconnect at various times from the phone, but not the wifi network. I know it's the phone because my old HTC One M8 will remain connected, without issue. Our tablets and PCs remain connected as well.
It's only this phone that I'm having trouble with. Even the Google Cast app doesn't find the CCs in the house, just that it knows I have backdrop settings for both.
It's become a major annoyance since we stream most of our entertainment now. I don't know why it's doing it, but I'm hoping someone has an idea. I do, but it may be nothing of value....
In Marshmallow, there's supposedly a setting to allow the wifi to sorta "sleep" to save on battery power until you touch the screen. I'm wondering if the wifi goes to sleep and disconnects from the Chromecast, causing this issue? If that's the case, is there a way to disable that so it doesn't do it? I have to charge the battery or swap it out on a regular basis anyway, so I can't imagine I'm saving much by leaving such a feature activated.

chromecast no connection

My chromecast just stopped broadcasting. It has worked fine tills for about an hour ago when it started buffering. To stop that I disconnected it in the all 4 app and now nothing is being casted. If I switch the tv on I can see the normal chromecast screen, name of the device and the network name. All other devises on the network have internet connection so it doesn't seem to be that. Tried to cast from my tab s2 and one plus 3t but neither work. Any ideas?
You have a problem with Chromecast no connection and I read your problem carefully. I think the answer your question contains here https://windowserrors.org/how-to-setup-chromecast/ because this article helps me to set up my Google Chromecast as well. I also have the connection problem like you.
