Any GPS issues when rooted? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I've been rooting my android phones since Cupcake. This is my first Android that i haven't found a need to root. I don't have any complaints aside from tethering limits and bloatware.
My issues with rooted Android is the buggy GPS functionality. I have had zeros issues with GPS since buying my S5 and that has been the main reason I've steered clear of rooting. But now I'm coming to a cross road because the S6 doesn't impress me and it's making me want to keep my S5 a little longer.
Are there any GPS issues when rooted?
Ive searched but can't find anything specific.
Thanks in advance.

I had GPS issues with a certain rom, but it's fine on any other rom. As far as just simply rooting, you'll be fine! Enjoy!

[Q] A simple blunt question about Vibrant GPS fixes

OK--people are talking all around this issue, and I am looking for a blunt answer. Hopefully this thread can be found easily via Google.
FACT: The GPS fix for stock Galaxy phones we all know about doesn't work for many people.
FACT: Some custom Vibrant ROMs, like Bionix, claim to have fixed the GPS issues.
QUESTION 1: Is the GPS fix in these custom ROMs the same as the one released by Samsung for the Captivate?
QUESTION 2: If not, can anyone verify the performance of the custom ROM fixes? I have seen threads on this site that suggest the GPS is even worse after using a custom ROM (including Bionix).
I am the minority it seems, but my gps is much worse after flashing Bionix 1.8 and 1.9.1. When I was stock JFD I actually created a thread complimenting my GPS.... and now it's useless. No matter how long I stay outside I can not get a lock.
I am not certain what the issue is, because some on the same ROM claim it is great. Not sure how I lost out.... and not blaming sombionix, his rom is so good I still use it even with this issue (and I consider it a big one).
I do not know enough about what he did, but I don't think much was altered from JI6.
Thanks s15274n!
I am going to do some testing...I have access to a stock Vibrant (with no GPS fix), and a stock Captivate (with recent GPS fix). I will do a "map my run" route with each (using my Nexus One and maybe even my G1 as an experiment control), then root the Vibrant with Bionix Fusion, and post my results--probably here and in a blog post. That will give me 5 separate results to compare.
The screenshots and data output should settle all the BS flying around, although I am sure that some people will claim that their particular phone has no problems whatsoever.

Just to add my two cents, I've continued to experience horrible GPS performance despite the fix in JI6. Quite simply, it's unusable if I don't open G-Maps before I drive away from my wirless SSID.
Unfortunately, questions posted here are routinely met with "reflash" and "why can't people search? these issues have been solved a million times!". Most people seem content to assume that since it was fixed on their phone, we're too stupid to figure out how to apply this particular "fix".
This is my fifth phone. My G1, MyTouch, and Nexus One all had GPS' which worked simply and reliably. My Galaxy S phones...not so much. It's gotten to the point where I'm seriously considering paying HTC to fix the busted AMOLED screen on my Nexus One so I can go back to that and sell my Vibrant and i9000 on craigslist.
Sorry for the rant. I only meant to chime in to say "you're not the only one". I'm just frustrated.
I'll be interested to see your results if you go through with your test.

[Q] What is the most stable JB ROM with working GPS?

I searched through some threads and I couldn’t find a definitive answer on this that was recent.
I am currently running ICS Euphoria on my phone, but I recently started having issues with my phone missing calls intermittently. What happens is I will get a voicemail from a call that never came to my phone (no ring, no missed call). Since it has been awhile since ICS was released, I figured this would be a good time to upgrade to JB.
I’m looking for a slim, fast, and functional version. Don’t care about customization, just need a good daily driver. Specifically I’m looking for a ROM with decent GPS (as good as it can be on the vibrant anyway).
What do you guys recommend?
Slim bean, I know the final jb41 build had solid gps, not sure about jb42 beta builds. CM10 stable also hassolid gps.

Slim Bean seems to come highly recommended, but when I looked at it originally the big complaint was no GPS, maybe that has changed?
I have stayed away from CM roms since they seem to be more on the bloated side of things, but offer lots of customization. Really what I'm interested in is a fairly vanilla experience that runs fast and doesn't eat battery like crazy.
There are some flashable files that will help gps, yagf2, experia gps files and gps wrapper. IMO, slim is your best bet.
What you don't know could fill a book.
You can look at the thread I started here with the same Q and my experience: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040685
Bottom line (for me so far) is that NONE will have a working GPS,
and if you do get a gps it will eat your battery with all the Kernel Wakelocks caused by the gps.
Again, this is MY experience, I know others have better exp, would appereciate if you could update what you found...
BTW, on Bionix (Froyo) my GPS worked OK, so I don't think it is my device, but who knows...
Interesting points guys. I have had a few different roms on this phone, and the best gps so far has been ICS euphoria.
I think I'll give slimbean a try. I still need to do the little hardware mod for the GPS as well. Hopefully this will net me somewhat reliable GPS.
I have a copy of PA 2.54-360 with ICS GPS files that jrongi1 sent me. If you would like it you can PM me.
The GPS worked great for me!
And I still got love for the streets..
Gps is tricky with our phones. Each is different it seems. I have an orriginal T959 so I did the harware fix. The hardware fix combined with my use of angrygps.apk. I use "supl.sonyericsson.com" port 7275 in both gps.conf and angrygps.
I dont have DS issues with 4.1 or 4.2 roms. never had.
I installed cm10 and kept the gps.conf that came with it, it looks working OK, not the best signal but that might be phone fault.
Its IMPORTANT to use port 7275 in the supl server and not 7276 as some other posts suggests, the 7276 port was the reason for the kernel wake locks and GPS drain...

RemICS-JB v1.0(Team Remics) has good GPS. Doesn't lock as fast at first. Then after few seconds it kick ass. Great rom may I say.

[Q] Comparison of AOSP ROMs for MDK phones

I'm trying to figure out what the most stable and functional ROM is for my MDK VZW S4. I've tried to research this several times but I find that I have to essentially read through every thread for every ROM, and even then there are things that are left out. My previous phone was a Galaxy Nexus, so I was probably spoiled by the wealth of information about the various ROMs, but there's no reason we can't have a thread like this.
History of my ROM usage with my S4
I started out with Hyperdrive ROMs but later decided I just couldn't deal with TW no matter how much work the Hyperdrive guys did try to clean it up (kudos to them for the best ROM for people stuck with a locked bootloader though!).
Next up I went to Gummy ROM to try out 4.4, which honestly hasn't really impressed me. My GPS never works right, seemingly related to the compass problem? Not sure here, but this is a major deal breaker for me.
Problems I've had and seen mentioned in multiple threads; are these fixed in ANY ROM???
The above mentioned compass problems. I've read about factory calibration issues, I'm going to try a few of those fixes, but I also see a LOT of people saying this is a driver issue? Which is it?
HDR camera doesn't work, attempting to use it just makes solid black pics.
Bluetooth audio playback problems. I've heard this mentioned many times, but haven't had a chance to test myself. This only becomes a big deal for me in the summer when I'm using this feature to stream music to the stereo on my boat.
Thanks!
Dan

using MOAR on Note 3 with GPS issues

have been using MOAR quite happily and ignoring the GPS issue I have really for almost a year - but really need the GPS currently. sometimes it locks - but when it doesn't it's a real pain. I am on 4.4.2, sac23_Moar_port . I have used various gps tools but none solve the problem.
I didn''t have any gps issues before rooting to MOAR.
I have read about radio versions and numerous other things - but wasn't sure what tact to follow. relatively new to this type of issue.
thanks,
sammy

I believe the GPS issue is related to the hardware not the software, I've never gotten reliable GPS with the Note 3 no matter which ROM I was running. On my Note 5 it locks right away though.
But it seemed to be working well before the MOAR install. Not barely locks... if at all. And I am getting lost
Any other takers ?

GPS Issues - HDX 8.9

Hey all. Been awhile since Ive been around. Im lurking about but have some questions regarding GPS. Im not sure how well the GPS is on our tab's. I know all of the "available" ROM's i have tested seem to have issues with GPS. Even with the HDX Nexus ROM.
Is there any ROM out there that has good and stable GPS? My son uses the tablet 99% of the time and wants to use it for Pokemon GO instead of using our phones. So far the only ROM that has any chance is the CM-11 ROM and even that is sketchy and can't really lock on or follow.
Any ideas or fixes? I really want to use the CM-13 but I tried it and GPS is a no go.
Thanks!

It's not the rom; sketchy hardware (GPS chip) is the culprit on this device. You'd do better grabbing a burner phone (don't register it) for GPS functionality.
