[Q] Porting Android Lolipop to MSM8x60 devices. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. I am having a MSM8x60 Soc with 1 Gb ram device. Is it possible to make a lolipop rom for my device? If yes, how?

It all depends of the kernel source has been updated for the device. If not then no there is not

[ROM][4.4] [MTK6577 dual core 1ghz]

is there any way to get kitkat on mtk6577 1 ghz processor with 512 mb ram???
any one knows the method or any one has source code??
Still nothing...
I was researching for a very long time, but I didn't find any way to port Android 4.4 on MTK 6577 devices... I think that the latest version of Android for this chipset is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean- for example: I have Alcatel One Touch 5035D and the latest stock ROM is based on Android 4.1.1 and the latest custom ROM is based on Android 4.2.2...

look here. But Ram is 1 GB.
I don't know how to port but there is kitkat source and kernel...

[Q] Any build having Dual-SIM support ?

Does any AOKP 4.2.2 build have Dual-Sim support? I need one to port to my device (Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus, having Mediatek MT6582 chipset) since it has no kernel source and/or AOSP source. It has a Kernel version 3.4.5 and many fully working ROMs based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. If possible, are there any built for a Mediatek MT6582 chipset? If there are, then please provide me with a link to the ROM. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!

A few questions about porting

Hello,
I read alot lately about porting Lollipop (CM 12.1) to my device (Allview V1 Viper which is basically a rebranded Gionee Elife E3) but i have some questions:
1. As far as i understood, there are some problems with CM and Mediatek devices. However i saw some posts with people succeeding to boot CM 12.1 on these devices. Can this be achieved ?
2. If yes, can i use KitKat stock kernel with a Lollipop build ? (my common sense says no, but who knows ?) If no, how can i build a kernel for Lollipop for this device. I saw that Mediatek released kernel source, can that be used ? Also, can i use the drivers from KitKat ? If no, which and where should i get the drivers from ? Can i use any files from KitKat stock rom for a Lollipop port ?
This will clear some things for the beginning.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Help needed to port a ROM to a differen phone with same SOC

Hi,
I would like to port the novafusion lollipop rom from Samsung golden (S3 mini) to Samsung skomer (XCover 2). They both use the NovaThor U8500 SOC. There is a kitkat rom for skomer (vanir).
Does this mean I have all the bits available I need for the porting?
Can a kernel be used on different phones with the same SOC?
Is there somewhere a list what has changed in the source from kitkat to lollipop - or can I reuse the device tree from the kitkat skomer rom?
Have I missed the "[GUIDE] Port to another phone with same SOC" thread which answers all my questions - and the next to come ?
Best regards
Daniel

Using a pre-built MTK6589/8389 kernel in a custom (Lollipop) ROM

I've got an old Lenovo S6000 which, like every other Mediatek device, has incomplete source code for the drivers and the kernel. As a small project, I would like to try and get Android Lollipop up and running to an extent where:
the system boots to the GUI;
the Wi-Fi works;
and the touchscreen works.
just to start off.
The device currently is rooted, with ClockworkMod recovery installed, and I can create Android back-ups of the system. Could I potentially take the kernel and the proprietary blobs and build them in to a CyanogenMod 12 update? Or would the kernel have to be patched to support the new features in Lollipop (the current OS running on the device is Android 4.2.2, and there have been no other working attempts to create a custom ROM for the device)?
Thanks,
George
Sir I want to know Mediatek 6589 3.4.5 kernel can be used with any custom lollipop ROM or it need development for doing that? what can be done to update device with latest android ROM, what is required for developing ROM and kernel? Do all Mediatek 6589 chipsets share same kernel? because sony has released the source code for 3.4.5 kernel but I don't know how to use it for development of new ROM with latest android, how cyanogen do that?
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...es/open-source-archive-for-build-16-0-a-0-36/
this is the link to xperia c 3.4.5 kernel source code. please check it sir.
