[Q] G850M LTE Bands - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

GSMArena shows that the SM-G850M model of the Galaxy Alpha has LTE bands 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), and 17(700). Can anyone confirm that this is true?

I haven't opened it up. I don't know for sure. But those are atts Bands and I get lte

All models have different BAND support for example 850F has cat 6 LTE and 850FQ has cat 4 so be confirmed ONLY if someone with the exact same model approves this.

Through *#0011# I see that my G850M connected on LTE on band 2 or on band 17. Hope this helps. I'm on AT&T in SF Bay Area.

OK -I have this model Galaxy Alpha 850M and all these are listed on the box.
LTE (AWS/700/850/1800/1900/2100/2600
)
That is how they are listed.
I am on Metro PCS ( Tmobile Towers )South Florida and I see Band 4 when on LTE on Service Menu.
On WCDMA I see 1900 AND 1700 ( WCDMA 1700 not listed in most specs by Samsung but is there).

Do you have trouble connecting to AT&T LTE? What about the download speed? Thanks.

4G network works, but 3G don't;

Hi guys,
I have a strange problem, I guess.
I bought my HTC Desire 610 on amazon. It is AT&T.
I use it in a different country with GSM sim. Everything seems to work fine. I am connected to 4G network if I am in 4G coverage zone. But when I dont, it won't switch to 3G, it just goes offline.
long story short: 4G seems to work, but 3G don't.
network mode is set to WCDMA/LTE Auto.
could anyone help?
I think this is something to do with the Rom, if you were to install the cyanogen mod or the slimkat Rom, 3g works just fine in both, idk why though

I Installed GSM signal monitoring application. As it turns out the phone only receives HSPA+ (3G) signal, but somehow thinks that it is 4G. Because 4G is displayed on top of screen. that is why I thought it was working on 4G network. but now I guess it works on 3G but thinks that it's 4G
now I want to enable 4G but have no idea how

Depending on what country you are in 4g probably won't work with an at&t phone as the different variants have different 4g bands unlocked in the radio firmware and probably antennas. See the following extract from desire 610 network specs. US 4g bands are quit different from those available in most regions.
NETWORK Technology
GSM / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 - EU, EMEA
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - AT&T
4G bands LTE band 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800) - EU, EMEA
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 28(700) - Asia
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 17(700) - USA

Its hard to say for sure. Try a ROM from the region your in or cm11 which is for all regions. This probably won't work but is worth a try. Otherwise to that you would have to go s_off with sunshine (costs $25) and flash changes to radio firmware( either someone's dump from a phone in the region your in) or modifying it (google "XDA qcom unlock radio bands) but either way it's very risky unless you really know what you doing you can easily end up with an expensive brick and it still depends on whether you phone is equipped with a suitable anttena for the frequency the band your carrier is using.

Question about compatible bands

I have t-mobile. I still don't understand what bands need to be covered for t-mobile. I'm thinking about buying a Xiaomi Redmi 4 prime. I live in the USA, I want to know what bands should be available for me to use the phone. I already checked http://willmyphonework.net/ and the Redmi 4 Prime is not listed. The bands on the phone pulled from gsmarena are:
Technology
GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
CDMA 800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO & TD-SCDMA
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Speed HSPA, LTE
GPRS Yes

Using Honor 9 in the US

Hi guys!
I am about to buy an Honor 9 but checking its specs I have noticed that it doesn't have the bands for LTE in the US. I am going there in a couple of months on holidays and I would like to know if I will be able to use it even on a HSDPA Network.
I have checked frecuencycheck.com but it confused me even more, There is 3G compatible bands but not UMTS Protocols... I don't know...
Could I use it even on 3G (I don't mind 4G/LTE, I am just going on Holidays for a couple of weeks)?
It comes with all bands. You are able to use it in US.

the supposed bands are similar to what is on the Honor8Pro. in which case, 2G and 3G should be fine but 4G might not be possible. it also depends on which carrier you use in US later on -- probably your telco choice would be the non CDMA ones -- AT&T and TMo.
anyway, see these two threads:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8-pro/help/using-phone-united-lte-bands-t3633764
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8-pro/help/look-cool-disappointed-t3632889
As long as I will be able to use 3g is ok for me.
I am. Going to read those links you posted. Thanks!!

Limited LTE Bands?

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of buying the Honor 10, I currently have the galaxy s7. The only thing that concerns me is it looks like there Honor 10 is really limited to which LTE Bands it supports. I currently live in the UK So hopefully this won't be an issue on the EE Network but I do travel to USA and Mexico on holiday so would want 4G services abroad when I use my 3 Sim.
Honor 10 LTE Bands
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 19(800), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Galaxy S7 LTE Bands:
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) -
EE use four different frequency bands within the UK, which covers their entire network from 2G to 4G.
EE use:
800MHz(band 26) for 4G
1800MHz(band 3) for 2G and 4G
2100MHz(band 1) for 3G only
2600MHz(band 7) for 4G
EE have built their core 4G network on the 1800MHz spectrum, with the 800MHz helping cover rural areas and will be used to launch VoLTE(Voice over LTE), the 2600MHz is used to provide additional capacity in built up areas(mainly cities) and providing 4G+ in double speed areas.
So any LTE device with band 3 will work on EE's core 4G network, which is used in all 4G enabled areas.
Have any of you guys had issues with LTE band support? aboard and in the UK?

The SM-G975F/DS is factory unlocked but it looks like it has limited LTE bands to be used on US carriers w/o problems.
The Exynos SM-975N is the one you need to have a global range.
