[Q] Best Way to Transfer Data When Buying New Phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've gone through the headache of transferring files when buying a new Android phone a few too many times, and I'm getting sick of how asinine it is compared to iPhones.
With an iPhone, it's as simple as restoring from a back up done in iTunes. EVERYTHING is synced properly. Photos, videos, music, apps and data, system settings. It's a complete transfer.
Meanwhile, with Android nothing is simple. I've tried various tools and NONE of them have done what they claim they're supposed to do. I've spent money on apps with false promises.
What is the best/easiest/simplest way to transfer everything over to a new phone so that the experience is seamless? I want all of my photos, music, apps/data, system settings, themes... everything!
Is this even possible with Android? Someone please help....

For apps and data you will need root. For the rest just sync them to one of the cloud services. There is also an option for it during setup to move stuff from one phone to another. I never bothered using it so not sure how well it works.

I've tried the one where you link them up with NFC and leave them sitting next to each other. I've also tried the Motorola migrate tool (when switching to another Motorola phone) and various apps that claimed to sync apps/data. None of them did what they were supposed to.
When you say I need root, what specifically about root is necessary to transfer apps/data?
This such an obvious fail by Google to not recognize the need for this kind of service. Honestly, I don't get why there isn't yet an app that can do this.

Because the partition that the app data is stored on is not accessible without root access. Google also has a back up option. Titanium Backup is the most common used app for backing up apps and data.
For the most part the google backup works for people that buy phones once every few years.

I tend to change phones at least a couple times a year, sometimes more. Usually it's when I need the cash so I sell what I have to buy something cheaper. Then when I have the cash, I buy something newer/better.
Currently I have a pretty kickass Motorola X (32GB, white, cognac leather), but I'm out of work and broke so I need to sell it. I'm going to be ordering the Elephone P7000 to hold me over until I can buy a new flagship.
Thanks for the help. I guess I'll spend the $ one more time, and hopefully have better luck with Titanium Backup, than I did with the other ones.

It's a free app but I would suggest buying the pro key or you will have to hit a button on ever app restore.

[Q] Clarification of Co pilot activation

Hi Guys and Girls,
First of all I apologize for starting a new thread about this, I have put a search in both on Google and XDA and there is one possible solution I just need some clarification being a noobie!
I purchased Co Pilot 8 quite a while back when I was on stock rom but have since tried several different roms each time reinstalling my co pilot. After each install I obviously have had to reactivate it, last week after trying yet another rom my Co Pilot wouldn't activate. I contacted Co Pilot support and after several emails the outcome was that I had activated/de-activated several times and had reached my limit. They have allowed me to activate one last time(their words) but I know I'm not going to stick with the same rom so unless there is a way around this my purchase appears useless, especially as I have bought text to speech and live services as well!
During my search I came across a possible solution to back up your activation key which is licp8 in the windows directory. As I only have one activation left I need to get this right so if someone could clarify this for me I would be most grateful. What I need to know is if I now re-activate Co Pilot and then back up the above file (licp8) to my storage card, when I put a new rom on my phone if I then copy my backed up activation code from my storage card back to the windows directory, does this mean my Co Pilot will be activated without having to do so over the internet as this will obviously register with ALK Technologies?
Does that make sense,(no pun intended).
Sorry about the long winded explanation.
Thank you for any help
No offers?? Ah well I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet the next time I load a new rom.
can you not install copilot on the sd card so you won't have to activate every time you flash?

That kind of works, but only in the sense that you don't have to type all of the ridiculous long numbers for activatio again. It will remember all of your keys and your email/account settings.
I don't know how often I have re-activated, probably about 20 times, haven't had a problem since. But if you have a valid license and it has always been on the same phone (as in you didn't share the code) then how can they justify not re-activating the product. I like CoPilot, but if they try a stunt like that I will never buy it again.

Thanks to both of you for the reply.
I do install it to my SD card and like smackmac says that only partly works.
@smackmac
I have probably activated less than you so I don't understand that one?
In one of the emails they sent me, they have limited activation to protect against software piracy, I can understand that so I asked them why don't they link the software to the IMEI number but they said they can't do that. The software is fully legal and I have only ever had it installed on my current phone,(HD2). I did give them an in depth explanation of the reason why I had activated/deactivated but I got the impression they didnt believe me, I even had to scan my email receipt and send as an attachment as proof of purchase. Like I said I will try that possible solution in my original post the next time I put a new Rom on the phone and ill update the post to let everyone know whether it worked or not.
Thanks again for your response.

Please let us know how your test goes eddyedwards007.
I just learned from CoPilot Support/ALK Technologies today, that I have also reached this "activation limit", that I was totally unaware of. I would warn anyone considering CoPilot not to buy if they ROM flash often. Or even if the hard reset often. Or even if they just think they'll have to reinstall the software often.
After I contacted CoPilot Tech Support/ALK Technologies about receiving an "error 1027" when trying to activate the product after a recent ROM Update, I got the following response:
Dear Darnell,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Unfortunately the reason why you are receiving error 1027 and why you are no longer able to continue activating CoPilot is our Activation server has seen that you have reached the maximum permitted activation limit for a product.
Looking at your product key code you have activated 24 times.
Unfortunately there is nothing further I can do to unlock your Product Key Code to allow for further activations as this falls under excessive uses of activation.
You can resolve this by purchasing a new version of CoPilot but if you continue to activate to the same level that you have already been doing then your new key will also be locked out after a period of time when you reach the maximum limit.

So basically, they have my money and I have no CoPilot.
I have never had an issue of this sort with any other product on my HD2. I guess the magic number for me was 24. I had no idea reinstalling to the same device multiple times was an issue for them. This is an issue anyone considering CoPilot needs to be made aware of. Ticks me off when we who follow the rules and pay the money are treated like the bad guy . For crying out loud, we paying customers are the ones that DO keep them in business! Trying to use the product honestly now has me locked out.
So I fired off a response to the support ticket with a complaint of how I dislike them having my money while they fail to offer me service. My issue has now been fowarded to "Senior Technicians" and they are supposed to be getting back with me soon.
If they ever grant me activation again, I'm going STRAIGHT TO THE ANDROID VERSION. The Android version does not have to be reactivated as often, since when upgrading Android ports all the information is saved and comes right back through using the old data.img file or a utility like Titanium Backup. HD2 owners using an Android port have confirmed this for me. (See here and here.)

Hi Darnell,
Interesting post, I more or less got the same response, basically you are not going to be allowed to activate a product you paid for because they think you are making pirate copies. I have just downloaded the latest version of the rom I use and I will be taking the plunge tomorrow(19/11/10)
I sent a PM to Appelflap, who originally offered the solution, asking could he/she confirm it works and this is the response I got, [That's right. If you backup licp8.dat and copy it back to windows directory before copilot is started for the first time on the new rom, it will start as a activated copy.]
I hope Appelflap doesn't mind me posting the quote that was sent to me via PM.
So I hope it works otherwise I'll be left with a deactivated copy of Co-Pilot I'll let you know.
By the way I hope they grant you another activation, good luck.
Regards
Eddy
Activation
Hi All,
Just to update what happened.
I have installed and updated my rom and did exactly as Appelflap suggested and .................................wait for it..............it worked!
So just to recap, if you have like myself, purchased co pilot and flashed numerous roms, you will eventually reach an activation limit and ALK Technologies won't allow you to keep activating indefinitely.
So if you go into the windows directory, copy licp8.dat to your storage card, and then after you have reinstalled co pilot, copy the licp8.dat file back into the windows directory BEFORE you open co pilot, that is important! This worked 100% for me and also my text to speech and live services I purchased are also working.
I take no credit for this, all the thanks and appreciation go to Appelflap
I hope this can be of benefit to other members of the community, and lets hope no-one from ALK Technologies reads the forums and comes up with a fix!
Regards
Eddy
Yesterday, I got this message from ALK Tech.
Dear Darnell,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Please try activating your CoPilot again with the same product key.
Please be advised that it is imperative, before you upgrade or change the rom or the device, that you deactivate your licenses yourself in the future in:
Menu --> Settings --> Licencing --> DEACTIVATE
If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.

I was able to reactivate CoPilot Maps. But I am still unable to activate the Premium Live Services/Live Traffic that I also paid for. So I've asked them to assist me with activating that also.
A couple of things that may help
I've yet to hit limit and I think it is for the following:
I use XDA_UC (Energy version) to install the Laurentius26 CAB and also to copy licp8 (contains your license key and saves typing out on the ABCDE keyboard) over to windows which avoids the need to reactivate the license. Then CP8 when run does do not go thru the activation loop.
Clearly for this to work you need a purchased license. I've have changed ROM's several dozen times without issue using this method. I hope this helps.

I was able to successfully activate Premium Live Services/Live Traffic tonight. I think I was mistakenly using my old password when trying to activate that one. Since the old password was likely stored, but I had changed the PW when trying to initially figure out why I could not activate.
I sure hope more CoPilot owners see this thread before they run into any issues.
might sound simple but wont a backup or system image saved to your sd card restore your setting/co-pilot etc? ive done this with my phone a handful of timeswhen updating roms, never with anything fully registered but demo versions of apps and sofware ive installed are still within the preview time limit.
this way you can restore your prefered rom with your copilot and settings without having to activate it time and time again. may be totally wrong as ive never used co pilot but unless anyone says otherwise its gotta be worth a try?

Not usually good practice to restore a backup from an old ROM to a new one. It's usually best to only save and copy over just the nessesary files. Such as the one already mentioned.
To restore the full system image would also introduce any potential bugs that might have been in the old ROM's system files.
But we're trying to maintain what we paid for, not extending a trial.

G-Tablet bought New or was it???

Well I had ordered my G-tablet from Amazon and when I got it it was sealed in the cellophane and everything looked in order. When I charged it and powered it up though it didn't go through the new setup per say as the manual states.
Plus many apps were already on the home screen like angry birds. Plus a live walpaper was set as the walpaper. I had trouble trying to install some apps plus I kept getting force closes on almost all apps. I decided to do a factory reset.
Let me say now it looked and performed like a brand new one going through the steps. Like setting up family and name accounts. setting the time. wireless connection...
This makes me unhappy because anytime somebody returns a product for whatever reason the item is suppose to go back to the manufacturer to be checked out and repaired if necessary. Then I believe they are sold as refurbished.
This sounds like someone at amazon got it back under the belief that somebody just wanted to return it. They in turn put plastic wrap on it and resold it.

Send it back stating what you just stated. It's your money you decide what you want to spend it on. You were purchasing new and that is what you were expecting, however, that is not what you feel you got. So send it back for one that makes you happy.
I believe a lot of gTablets are coming like this.. I got mine 2 or 3 months ago, and experienced exactly this.
As for Angry Birds, I believe they advertise this as coming pre-loaded on the gTablet.
You can return it, but I bet many here will tell you that you'll wind up with exactly the same scenario on the new one they send you.
Mine came the same way. I remember someone posting here that a Viewsonic rep said many (or all?) tablets were tested before being sealed up. If you load up the web browser, you might even notice it's got CNN.com cached and displayed, which seems to be part of the test suite. Your tab is likely new as Amazon stated, you just weren't the first human to touch it

No its ok....I'm just glad I decided to select the factory reset. Because there were many things going wrong that shouldn't have been..As far as angry birds being include, or not is not what really told me someone had set this tablet up because it didn't go through the normal process of step by step setup procedure.
I had several apps on the home screen, which when I reset it I had very few and no angry birds, but hey it worked and setup an account like a new tablet out of the box was suppose to..
So all is well. I'm just stating this isn't right if Amazon is doing this with returns.
Somebody had mine not knowing what they were doing that caused many problems...

did yours come with the inability to install basic apps like amazon app store app, or force close on everything you did. nothing would play correctly. Videos. I bet not. So whomever had their hands on this one did a little more than they were suppose to..
When new it asks you to set the time and if your account if a family and the names of the family, setup email, setup wireless in a certain order. My tablet didn't do that....any of that. It was like powering up somebody elses tablet without their email account or wifi.
Paul
Anyway all is good..
To others if you have one new out of the box and have a lot of problems..force closing of apps then I suggest you just do the factory reset. save you a lot of headache down the road
Assuming you had the falling leaves live wallpaper, this is how they are currently shipped.
This is how they come. I had lots of apps FC right out of the box. As well as all the icons on the desktop and no 'new user' setup. This is normal as long as it had the plastic wrap on it and the actual unit looked untouched.

ok this is normal and weird at the same time with the ( this is how they come live wallpaper and apps force closing), but the strange thing that everyone will have to agree on is the restore, or resetting of the tablet where e
verything is suppose to go back to the way it was out of the box. Live wallpaper and the installed apps like angry birds should have been there. Right? I mean if this is how they ship. No not on my tablet. i got aw blue background with clouds and only the basic apps, which is fine because with the system reset I didn't have anymore forced close apps and i was able to download and install amazon app store without problem and actually use it. thank u to everyone that commented
Mine was the same way when I got it... After I turned it off for the first time and back on, it gave me the "out of the box" setup screen. It does seem like Viewsonic would want to make a better impression for the user.

I wouldn't know -- about 10 minutes after I received it, I had already flashed a different ROM After reading the horror stories, I was not interested in even one minute of the stock experience.
Seems from my memory most of the ones from Woot.com came like this. Mine did.
I got mine from Woot and it came with Angry Birds preinstalled. The worst thing is that I can't even play, it show a blank screen when I tried to run the application. Only when I update the ROM to 3588, the apps worked!
I have two gtablets and they both came pretty much the same way. Now you should be able to understand why the gtablet somewhat flopped when they were first released with software like this. I have kept one of them stock that my 5 year old daughter uses and mine has Cyanogenmod 7 on it and they both actually work well. Out of the box was pretty ugly though.

I bought 2 gtablets fromwoot and both came intheexact same state. Never felt used but both tablets hadthe exact test proceduredone even had the icons on the sameplace somaybe its a nandroid(or master pre rom) made tohave angrybirds preloaded
Any way both got rooted and rommed so i dont complain

Mine was the same. The packaging looked new, but the extra launcher on it meant it wasn't direct from the factory.
After a week of not being sure if I wanted to send it back, I found a rom I like, and am very happy with it.

[Q] Lost Eris - NO!

First, you should've already changed your passwords on all of your email accounts, especially Google (used to sync. info/data/contacts/emails, etc. between the server & your ex-Eris) .... Facebook, Twitter, Skype/Voice, et. al.
Second, you did not install any phone tracking or recovery/security apps on the Eris like Wheres My Droid, which would allow you to ring & find it via GPS, etc. so whatever was stored on it (photos, sensitive emails/text or mms msgs. and even web search history could be easily read & extracted off the phone, once it's powered on (regardless of whether the battery is dead or not - a generic mini-usb charger/cable or inexpensive replacement will easily bring it back to life again). So the question that you need to think & answer for yourself is: do I and should I tell & alert someone, anyone or nearly everyone that I "communicate" with about the lost Eris & possible breach of info and security, and to be cautious about data mining and misuse/abuse, etc.
Third, was it lost in a public place, misplaced or dropped while getting in/out of a car/bus/taxi/train or possibily intentionally taken - might want to file a police report (if PD would take one) just for the records & future proof (identity theft ??)
While this lost/stolen phone will not be activated on VZW (at least not so easy) - it could still be ebay as parts or spares or be on craigslist (ever wonder about some of phones seen at the flea market ....) - so you will need to be on your guard for a while as the data might still be vunerable to exposure and misuse down the road.
Hard lessons learned here, consider & do install an app to track/recover one's smartphone as it's becoming our mobile wallet with access to mobile banking info and even one's Starbuckscard account - easily swiped for getting that latte around the corner .... (no, I will did not d/l or install that latest apps)
Thank you and yes, very hard lessons learned.
I will always password protect my next phone and have tracking software installed.
I will take your advice and change all of my passwords.
Wow, pictures of my kids, everything... very sensitive information all out there.
Did you happen to have sense on it with a hub account? I believe that is supposed to be able to locate your phone as well if I'm not mistaken.

[Q] How to back-up progress with Marvel Avengers Alliance?

Has anyone figured out how to back up the game without losing all your progress? Well, I found there is a way for IOS users to save their progress, but us Android users are s.o.l. until they set up the Facebook link (not sync, your progress will not be related to your MAA game on Facebook). For some reason, Google search wouldn't pull up the topic before.
I looked through the files of the game, and I did find some assets that show that the FB link, as well as Spec Ops 1, will be in the next update. Hopefully Monday we'll get a treat from Playdom.

Normally, it should work just fine with with TB or ROM Toolbox, but others confirmed that they do nothing. I'm worried that going through TWRP won't matter. If I wasn't so far into the game and near the top tier in PVP, I would test it myself. :/

I'm just gonna wait until they add the sync/link before I do anything. I wish I was at the top, but now that PVP season 1 is ending in a few days, everyone is out for blood. My rank keeps bouncing from 0.6-ish to 0.9-ish everyday. I'm happy with Vibranium anway, Punisher will be available to buy, the special trenches won't.

how are you able to play pvp? on my Motorola xt912 when i hit the .05% i could not get past the loading screen. but my s3 so far has no problems. are top players hacking? reason i ask that is i got hit by hawkeye in a black suite along with another hero doing some funkey stuff that can only be done on the computer version. it had a huge "A" for avengers. much like the coulson's gun we have. that icon. but that was i believe in the first 3 days of pvp.
glad to know i can buy pun tho. if you dont mind i would like to ask a few more things. i bought this limited edition coulson's gun. it says customized, power is set by agent lvl when acquired. does that mean this gun will not lvl up with me? or is the power lvl set at my lvl but will lvl up with me. example, my new agent is lvl 8. when i hit say lvl 40 will this get lvl 40 stats?
also asking playdom to put my old profile on my new device resulted in this e-mail
hello, im sure i made it clear i moved from a Motorola to a Samsung. since you offer no app sync data support and have not got back to me regarding my saved game, i would like to have a refund. i put over 40$ into that game and i am forced to start over. not only that but it seems your company cant even fix a pvp bug correctly. i put the money into this app to have a better chance at pvp.
since i started playing on my new phone i have not got the loading screen error yet. so either please put my saved game on my new phone or refund me so i can buy all my heroes that i had bought.
please understand my frustration on this issue and i hope you had a happy holiday and have a good new year.
p.s. both of my phones are verizon in case you need that info
Carlos, Jan 02 03:13 PM:
Dear Playdom Gamer,
We can add currency to new game on your Samsung. However, we cannot process refund based on your request.
i kinda got tired of the 5 e-mails with no response in regards if and when will they make a data sync. still not sure if they have plans too since they never did address that.

I have noticed some agents that I suspect of hacking in the top of the PVP leaderboards, but I have yet to encounter any in combat. I'm not surprised if most of the 0.5% are hackers. That's pretty common in MAA, sadly. Also, I would avoid using Storm in PVP. It has been noted that she causes the game to freeze on the second loading screen, which then forces you to close out and lose points. Also, the AI can't use her properly.
As for the people with CR and the Avengers alt outfits, I'm assuming people who are registered playtesters get early access to these. That, or more hackers (more likely the case )
When you buy equipment that is customized, it will not level with your agent. If you were level 12 and got it, it'll always be level 12. Unless they add forging to the Android version, I would avoid buying customized equipment.
I found out the other night that apparently they do have device syncing available, but it is not working properly. Another user from the MAA Wikia forum is trying to get a hold of Playdom about it. It syncs up though Facebook on your phone.
I'm hoping with next update everything will be sorted out. If you look in the files for the app, you can find images and whatnot about syncing with facebook maybe though the app itself and not through the FB app. Also, the first spec ops will be X-men vs Avengers. I'd start saving your CP, we're gonna need Gambit, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and Black Panther.
Thanks for the heads up man. If anything send me an invite on android maa.

well for awhile i had my profile on a new device. some one started a thred on the fourms and i figured i would list the steps as best as i can so they dont mess anything up.

there is a free version

note this process the phones needs to have root in order to work. also if you dont have root i suggest helium .
ok so the easy steps. on the old device back up maa and save it on sd card. take out sd card and put it on your new device. on the new device that you want the maa profile, install android id changer. go to your old device and open up Titanium backup, find the android id, copy it. on the new device clear out maa, just uninstall it. then open up android id changer. SAVE THE ID FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it will get stored into your phone. can always revert the change if something was to go wrong. now type in the old android id. reboot phone.
after the phone reboots go into Titanium backup, it will let you know the android id has been changed. accept the change. now go into the play store and download maa. after it installs go into your "my files" look for the back up of maa data from Titanium backup. move it to phone from sd card into the Titanium backup folder. go into Titanium backup, if you dont see it just select reload app. now you should see it. restore app data only.
open up maa, notice no download from server. now you know everything went good. but dont hurt to double check.
i did this process myself just to make sure i can post about this and keep people safe. i dont agree with how the op started this post. it can lead people into trouble. this can also lead you into trouble with other apps that need the android id. so remember, if an app has no sync , it means its going to need the android id. this is why i like helium. it seems to do what you need with out changing android id. but that seems to be hit and miss for some people. i dont recommend doing this for just maa alone. never know what you can mess up in the process.

Really you dont need that. I used it so I dont need any updates from google play. What you do need is the same android id that's linked to the profile.
With out that id then well you can't enjoy your saved game

mine has the same issue. I have already created a thread in here about that, and I received as a suggestion to reflash the kdz, but I'm still waiting for the oreo kdz to be released to try this out. you can give a shot doing that

What's the kdz? Also, I'm only at 7.0; I think Oreo is 8.0.
I wqs reading a thread with a similar issue and it was suggested to wipe the active cache partition. I haven't tried this yet, have you? Do you know if that'll wipe out all my storage? It's a whole process...shutdown, reboot holding Power + Volume Up and then following screen instructions.

I've already tried lots of things, and unfortunately none of them worked for be. Basically I tried wiping the internal storage, wiping the system and then reflashing the rom I was using, and I also tried reflashing the stock android. Nothing changed.
btw, kdz is basically the file that carries the system that is going to be installed in your phone. some versions of g5 already got the 8.0 oreo kdz, and some still on 7.0 nougat, reflashing the same 7.0 kdz could be a relevant try, but I'm not sure.
and also, wiping the cache won't change anything for you. wiping it will basically erase all temporary data created by the apps and system im your phone.

What has your experience been like with this SIM issue? Did it start off like I described mine? At first just once in a while, then once a day, then twice a day, but fixable by just releasing the battery and snapping it right back in. That's where I'm at now; twice a day. Although it didn't happen today...ever since I opened the tray, readjusted the card and blew into it.
I'm just curious if it always starts slow and progressively gets worse. Did u already mention how bad u have it? Like the frequency of the "SIM Card Removed" error and what u need to do for a temp fix? And if it snuck up on ya or has been the same since it began.
It sounds like reinstalling the kdz will wipe out my storage, ya? Just the internal or SD card as well? I haven't tried the LG Backup App that came with the phone. Is there a particular backup App that I should check out, or is the LG on good enough? I have a ton of voice recorder mp3's and Quick Memo+ files that I manually backup regularly...just by connecting the phone to my laptop and dragging files onto it.
I've been thinking about buying a compact phone for a while; maybe now is the right time. The only decent one I've found besides the iPhone, which I'm not a fan, is the Sony Xperia XZ1. The screen is 4.6" and the phone itself is 5". They're way expensive tho, close to $400, which is practically double my budget. I may be mistaken, but I recall the XZ2 being cheaper than the XZ1. I haven't look into a planned release date for the XZ3, which one might assume would make the XZ1 cheaper.
I want something that is atleast on par w/ the G5's specs, as well as audio quality. Besides some light internet use (I don't use social media), I mainly use the phone for music, both headphones and speaker, and calls/texts. I don't care about the camera specs, fingerprint and facial scanners (I don't even lock my phone with the keypad lock). I just want a phone that doesn't lag, sounds good (quality, as well as, dB of loudspeaker; I think the XZ1 might have stereo speakers), enough internal storage for Apps and a SD slot.

yes, my issue is just like yours, but I always temp fixed it by restarting the phone, never having to take off the battery, and also yes, mine seems to get worse as time passes by, in the beginning a restart used to fix the issue for more than a day or even two. by now a restart just fix it for like minutes, no matter how many times I restart it, so this is turning into a huge thing for me.
flashing the kdz will probably wipe out your internal storage. I never used backup applications like LG Backup, I basically use Google photos for media backup and the built-in android backup that downloads all your apps with your data when I put your google account in a cleaned phone.
I totally understand your point by wanting to buy another phone, but I hugely wouldn't recommend you to buy a xperia. any fix for this phone can be very expensive, and they don't use to be easy to fix, G5 do though. by this pricing range I definitely recommend you to buy an oneplus phone or especially a xiaomi phone. with aroung $350 you can get a poco f1 from AliExpress. it's an awesome phone, and it has a huge community, you'll be able to find any kind of roms for it in xda and lots of tips by its happy users. it sports a snapdragon 845 and 6gb of ram, which is basically the hardware present on this year's flagships.

Lame. So it seems like this problem will just continue to spiral out of control. What do you mean by an expensive fix for the Xperia? Is there something that commonly breaks on these, or are they known to be unreliable? Are any of the phone's u mentioned compact? I looked at One Plus phones when I was buying this G5 and remember them being gigantic. The G5 is a bit too big for my liking, but it blew away every other phone in it's price range.
Also, the $350-400 price range is the reason I don't already have the XZ1. Both me and my wallet would prefer something closer to the G5 price. 6 GB of RAM seems a bit unessacary for what I use my phones for...I forgot to mention that I don't play games either. The G5 has worked flawlessly for me, and it has 4 GB, right? I was thinking that I might be able to get away with 3 GB, tho I'm hesitant to go that route. My last couple phones before the G5 had 2 GB, and they were a bit laggy. I'm not sure how much is due to processing speed, RAM, or both.

yeah I know 6gb can be more than the necessary, but the extra gigabytes comes just as bonus for the phone's price. $300-$350!!! it's so cheap. and as this phone has that borderless design, it's not a big phone, probably almost the same size of G5 or something like. I think this phone is a total worth, especially when someone's just looking for a mid-range phone and gets a flagship. I would recommend you to search about it. but if you're really looking for a mid-range phone, you could take a look at Mi8 SE, which sports a snapdragon 710 and has a good pricing range.
