This is a minimalist ui for sure. I'll try it out for a bit and get back.
Edit: Good job. AOSP keyboard needs gesture fixed (this is common).

other than that, so far so good.
good job.
I have to say something because im afraid this post will be overlooked. This is without a doubt the best ROM ported/developed for the i717. Believe me I've tried them all. I am coming from my heavily modded liquid smooth kk, to a plain vanilla install of this, and the difference is like night and day. The OP has really outdone himself with choosing this ROM for the i717. I haven't seen performance like this from a vanilla install since cm9 or blackstar x. Perfect up-to-date daily driver for anyone, system ui FC's every once in awhile nothing really aggrevating, and the ROM itself is just great. Notifications only take the space they need to display just like in lp. The launcher has no app drawer, easily fixable for someone who prefers one. Kudos to the OP

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I am glad to finally bring you the Evervolv series of ROM's. This is an alpha build, however most, if not all items should be working. I'm going to keep this post vague and update it when the rom becomes beta worthy.
This rom would not be possible without the CM team, so i give them props any time i can.

Everything should be working as of now (with the small except to the Brightness widget, it's functionality is there... but the UI updating is not just yet). The Nexus One i have has no sim card, so i can't test everything. However English is the main supported language, if google hasn't added the language support, i haven't either. This means certain apps will have no support at all (i.e. Evervolv Settings). If there is someone that would like to contribue the efforts to languages, we'd be more than happy to have you aboard.
Screenshots of the ROM in action can be seen Here - Screenshots

Q&A
Is this CM7?
No, this is a build that started from AOSP. However, some of the fixes and few features have been derived from the CyanogenMod Team, including the CM kernel.
How social is the evervolv team?
You can join us on IRC, irc.freenode.net #evervolv. Or follow myself and the status of Evervolv @preludedrew on twitter.

Looks good and feels good aswell, but trackballwake is needed.
Why not. I haven't tried anything Gingerbread yet (been faithful to Rod's MIUI the last few months).
I'll download and check it out!

agree with this... this rom already support app2sd??
Liking so far. Its a breath of fresh air. Just something nice and new, really smooth and responsive.
It appears a2sd is not there? Maybe I'm wrong but under settings it said ext (unavailable).
Also, its a little eh that I can't change the dock settings (I know I can use LauncherPro and I probably will but I was trying to avoid that) because I use Chomp and DolphinHD so those dock shortcuts are useless.
Screen off animation is SWEET and boot animation is stellar.
Overall, seems very solid for a first release. I'll stick with it for now, assuming camera and camcorder work (I'm headed out to Sea World with the wife and son today/tomorrow so I need a functioning camera).
Great job and great release. I'll report back more Monday night when I get home and have used it for a few days.

Great rom. I love the font and bootanimation. Wish the rom had a2sd.

OK, so after a few days use I'm noticing a few things.
Battery life seems to be average, nothing special. I hardly used it at all as I was on a small vacation (didn't make any phone calls, hardly text at all, didn't take pictures, surfed the web very very lightly) and my battery would very quickly drop to the 80's in % and beyond. Although, this could possibly be associated to my next thing.
When charging, light on top is green (fully charged) when it hits 90% battery. It does continue charging to 100% but I found that very odd that it turns green to indicate full when its at 90%...
As stated, the font is very nice too. Everything overall seems smooth, especially for a first release. I'd be nice to see new releases soon, of course with a change log etc.
Looking forward to see what is to come.

Surely AOKP won't be the winner by a longshot.
The list should probably be condensed a bit. Like including both paranoid android rom's into the same category, maybe merging the ones that build from the CM10.1 source into a single category.

At the beggining I just made an option for paranoid, but then I checked both threads and there were a couple of ppl using each one, so I though, why not separate them. In order to include the changes you said, I think it must be a moderator who does that, i'm not sure but I can't find how to edit the poll (never made one...). Thanks.
I was thinking of a poll to see one option you're missing is 'Stock Rom' Would be nice to also graph users that aren't using a custom rom and are instead just using google's official one.
And there should be a 'Other - please list your rom' option as a good chunk of people won't vote without 2 options if there not applicable to them so its going to be skewed for stats without them.
I think CleanROM should be included in the poll, as it's a quite popular ROM.

In theory it was there, i'm not sure why it isn't. Totally failed doing my first poll lol. Any clue if I can edit the poll or it must be an admin?
I use Pac on my nexus 10 and also on my sgs2, because i think PA is very useful especially on the nexus, but it´s nut enough customisation, so the mixture between PA and AOKP is great.
So i only can advise you to give PACman a try

Think the admins/mods need to edit the poll hopefully they will be nice enough to do so as this poll would be worthwhile for all of us here with nexus 10's

I use AOKP with KTManta... AOKP Milestone, official download.
updated to Kaos Droid's new ROM, so far seems good
MrRobinson's AOKP PUB with KTManta kernel here.
Carbon Nightly!!
I must say, I'm pretty stoked with 2nd place so far!!
Been testing different ROMs like Roobox, Tasker, Liquidsmooth, I am using Carbon for now. I like AOKP too will try Sentinel next. So many ROMs to try too much fun.
Don't forget kaos droid... Awesome rom and the dev is very willing to add custom features
I've tried nearly everyone on the list. But I always end up going back to the AOKP PUB builds. I fluctuate between the builds by Bigxie and Mr. Robinson - depending on who has a more recent build. No other ROM I've used has all the customization options I'm looking for (including my #1 must-have Tablet UI) as well as including the increased speed and fluidness. With that said, it's great they there's so many options for the device. It's one of the reason I love Nexus devices.
I liked pacrom but had to switch back to paranoid android because ps3 controller wouldn't connect to sixaxis
*edit ps3 controller now connecting since flashing the newest pacrom.
Just got my N10 a couple of days ago and I'm looking for a ROM. Which one of the AOKP custom roms are the best?

I've tried me7 Roms and other aosp Roms and I like how his provides bits of TW and aosp features together. This is his TW ROM.

I use Google Edition Pure by Dubbsy and hlxanthus.
I started with the modified version for a month or so, then I played around with PAC-Man ROM RC1 by Papa Smurf151 for a few days to test out a ton of custom features in one go. Some of them were quite good, but I got tired of all the options and customisations and just wanted stock Google again . So now I am on Google Edition Pure.
Being able to go to HALO and Pie to hardware buttons to the soft navbar (mod by hlxanthus) and all around again has really helped my form my UI tastes. Turns out I prefer Google's on-screen buttons, and one of the reasons why I bought the S4 was because of its hardware buttons!
I sold my iPhone and got the S4 on the weekend that the new update rolled out. I was able to get it home and root it and flash the GE ROM all on the first day. The only bugs have I've noticed have been the missing 4G bars (fixed), garbled carrier name (unimportant), and a few recent build glitches that I think are fixed now as well (MTP botched and random reboots). On the other had, I tried installing Google Wallet before, but I ended up having to reflash the ROM. Now this latest version has Wallet working out of the box.
Stock ME7 unrooted. Not by choice obviously, but to be honest with force gpu rendering it's incredibly fast and smooth for a stock experience. Great battery too.

Flashed over to Official PAC RC1 yesterday, and it's pretty awesome. I have yet to experience an issue, and it runs like a dream. I ran an older PAC on my Incredible2, and this just further cements my enjoyment of it. I'm sure I'll miss the TW camera soon, but that's what AndyBones BoneStock is for :good:
Also, forcing people to vote is probably going to get the thread locked as a "best ROM" thread. Not to mention the list is missing quite a few options, even those found on XDA - PAC has been around since we first got root.

I saw that in your op. I commented on that ROM/Mod/Kernel list thread, as I didn't realize it was still being updated.
"Daily Driver" is a term people throw around way too loosely, and it means different things to different people. For me, a daily driver is a ROM I can use for my normal activities without major bugs adversely affecting it. Longevity, to me, is irrelevant because there are quite a few ROMs that meet my criteria. I don't think I'm a "crack-flasher" so nightlies aren't my thing, but I've gotten pretty fast at setting up on a new ROM. So even though a ROM may run great for me, I like to change it up every now and then. I loved Beans' and DarkSlide - and would consider those daily drivers. I am now on PAC, and so far it meets all of my requirements. I'll probably switch to BoneStock in the next couple weeks, since ME7 is very smooth and the TW camera is a nice improvement over AOSP.
Im using HellsRom and its great. Pure stock and that's the way I like it for now. I havent found any bugs yet. Everything works great and very fast.

No Omega, Pacman, or Revolt?
I'm currently using Hyperdrive but it's my first custom ROM and I'm not too thrilled with it. Battery life seems a little worse than stock and TouchWiz just feels bloated naturally-- all the S4 stuff doesn't seem to work at all? Smart scroll, smart stay, etc?
Hyperdrive for me has been quirkier and actually a tad slower than stock. I don't mean to blame it but it's my observation based on the options I chose upon install, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid ROM for sure, however I'm definitely not tied to it yet.
This may be borderline the wrong place to post this, but it does concern custom ROM's, so technically it would be considered development I do believe. If not I'm truly sorry and move it to the correct section please. Anyway, my question is just like the title states. I've dug around a lot and haven't really found the answer. I promise I wasn't lazy and just made a new thread without researching . I want to know if anyone knows of anything like a CM10, CM11, any CM based ROM, or basically anything other than the 4.1.2 stock based ROM's with working HDMI. It is a must for me. You can go to the CM site and others, but it doesn't really say anything about it, being that most ROM's aren't all out device specific anymore, and many devices do not offer HDMI because of hardware anyway. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
NO WAY !This is only available on stock ROMs because the related stuffs are close-sourced.

I've run this ROM and it's okay. I've pretty much run everything imaginable on six different devices. I was just hoping that someone knew of something like a pure AOSP based or Cyanogen based ROM with working HDMI. I've looked everywhere and tried to add it to ROM's and it just won't work. It has something to do with the stock 4.1.2 firmware and the drivers. So we'll probably never see that function in anything like a 4.4+ ROM unless we get an official update (WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN) I decided to give up and I'll just swap to stock in Safestrap when I need HDMI capability. Right now I'm in the process of cooking up a nice little custom 4.4.2 pure AOSP based ROM. It will feature NOVA Launcher and the most dynamic launcher made (it's a secret) as home options. I'm mainly focusing on smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life.

MFsicKness v1.0 will be coming to a Forum near you soon!

OOOH MY MY Lol! I'm very intrigued on this. I will definitely load the kernel up on a 4.4 build and see how it works out. If it works I will either put it in my build or link it to my OP when I post my ROM. Regardless lucize and dtrail1 will have full recognition and credit for the kernel and working HDMI. Man, if this works my RAZR will be a beast. I got really lucky and scored a MAXX on ebay for $51 with only the screen broken. It took a total of about 20 minutes to convert mine to the MAXX last night. As far as I can tell I'm saving around 11 to 13 percent more battery per hour with fairly heavy use. I have a couple of questions. Do you guys like the Xperia's Album (photo gallery) and Walkman music player with ACID Audio? All features work in the builds I have. And which gapps do you prefer? I'm trying to figure out which ones to recommend. I pretty much always go with Slim. Okay enough rambling. It's time to test.

Alright, I will definitely give thanks to all where thanks is due. If this works out then our little RAZR's will at least be able to contend with any device when it comes to performance and the all out coolness factor. Fully functioning HDMI is pretty much all it was missing

Indeed, HDMI is something that even the newest flagships don't have..
As for Xperia Album and Walkman, not a big fan of Albums, but Walkman, Hell Yeah.!!! I've been trying to make it work for Razr since the day I bought it. Would love it on the device.

The problem with making it work on the RAZR is the drivers. Even if you get a hold of a flashable Walkman .zip, most of the time it will not work correctly, no matter which version you get. It will usually also break any other music player you have installed. When you play a song you only get a split second of sound. The song will continue to play but with no sound. But never fear, it functions 100% in my build. Everyone can thank Nx Biotic for telling me where to look for the fix to this issue. Unfortunately I'm delayed on finishing the ROM for a short time. My little girl decided my screen and LCD looks better completely shattered Lol. At least I have the trusty "absolutely sucks compared to the RAZR" Droid Charge. It does have HDMI though. Parts are on the way for the RAZR and I will continue testing shortly. Keep an eye out.
So, did anyone get HDMI working with a custom ROM? AFAIK only the "official" ROM's work, but as they are so old, not so much fun. Shame we can't get the best of both worlds. Anyone know someone from Moto who can find the source code for this "secret" HDMI stuff, or has anyone the knowledge to decompile it from an official ROM?
Hey, so I've seen a lot of people talking about how good XX ROM is and it's better than YY because of something. Also another problem being the question of best ROM.
I'd like to say something: Everyone has their own thinking and point of view, so something's that's not important to you might be imporrtant to someone else, so making judgements like this is better than that is all dependant from person to person. We all know that no two mind think alike. These types of questions discourage developers so please it's my humble request to not post / compare ROMs calling them bad / good. If you don't like a feature then don't use it. Same goes for the ROM. If you can help improve then you most probably can via github or gerrit as some ROMs provide. With that being said. Thanksfor the time to read this post.
I kind of agree. I much prefer to see descriptions with a list of pros and cons rather than a simple "this ROM is better because I like these aspects"

Going to give it ago again tonight... I week or so ago I tried it and had very odd behaviors. Likely just a bad flash (sounds odd, but it does happen) and went back to Oxygen... is there any differences between the UNOFFICIAL and OFFICIAL builds?
How is it that even a thread specifically made to tell people not to ask questions about which rom is best, turns into a rom advice thread.

mm don't know if there is a difference, there is not much out there, i'm using official , last stable, only negative, are random crash apps, most of all google apps... and have to reboot, but the battery life is very very good.
Won't make a separate thread for this but I'll ask here - what are 2-4 most popular ROMs for the OP2 going around nowadays? I've been using Exodus ROM for a long time and I really liked it, but the latest update was November 11th and it looks like the developers have moved on. The ROM is fine, and there's really nothing that I'm missing, but there are some stability issues with random reboots and force close and this is the longest I've gone without updating/changing something so I'm looking to try something new. I want to look into a few different options and read others' reviews and look into features and stuff, but it would be great if you guys could narrow down my search to the few most popular/well known/most supported roms that are currently available.
