Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I rooted my G850-F and created a TWRP 2.8.1.1 backup before installing Xposed and a couple of modules. Everything was working fine for a couple of required reboots but now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I thought I'd just restore the TWRP backup, but it didn't change anything! I restored it even twice, how can that be and what do I do now?
Cheers
Try to wipe data, cache, dalvik before restoring backup...
Thanks that did it! Was it because of an Xposed module? Or could it have been a faulty titanium restore?

i tried to install villianrom and its stuck on a villainrom load screen =[
Wipe and then flash again.
ok i did that, it worked but after i went to CWM and restored my files its stuck at the boot screen again?? do i just keep trying until it works or am i doing it wrong??
Wipe cache and dalvik cache, and try again, you may not be able to restore stuff with cwm, that's what titanium is for.
Nandroid in cmw is more for full system restore.

am I correct that i can flash cwm through twrp, and i'll revert back to cwm? if it is, where do I get the actual file to flash? sorry to bump and be a pain but i've been searching non stop and can't find any help with this particular issue.
Earlier today I tried flashing a JB ROM after doing a complete wipe/reset of my ST15i.Data,system,cache wiped.
After getting an error 7 I restored my previous ROM using TWRP but weird thing happened.
All my apps on SD don't work.
No icons in launcher,nothing.
I can see them however in the Downloaded section of the system storage menu.I cannot either run or move them back to phone.I get a message that apps don't exist.
What's happening here?
What can I do?
Restoring another TWRP backup same thing happens.
Fixing permissions didn't help.

AW: Restoring ROM went wrong?
I've noticed that, too and it's such a f**king problem. TWRP doesn't backup .android_secure (the apps on your sdcard) and when you did the wipe data/factory reset you've wiped that data
I guess there's no way to get your data back, if there is, please tell me (and OP of course). I was lucky because I had a titanium backup from these apps and I could simply restore it

aha. So twrp does have a catch.
thx
that thread really helped me thx
Re: Restoring ROM went wrong?
Try cwm backup and restore option i use that only and cwm is more reliable then twrp

Re: Restoring ROM went wrong?
I can also confirm this by comparing backed up ROM sizes between TWRP 2.3.3.0 and CWM 6.xx recoveries.

If I take a backup from cwm can I restore it via twrp?

I think twrp is supposed to back up .android.secure. Try hitting the sd-ext radio button under back up and see what happens.
What's that?

No it is not possible to restore cwm backup via twrp

Hi!
First of all, to give you some infos: I am runing the latest nightly CM11 on my LG G Pad 8.3 V500 and have the latest TWRP installed.
I was experimenting with a stupid app called LCDDensity for root (I am a noob and should not have done that) and it caused my G Pad to be stuck in a bootloop. I was able to boot into TWRP and the first thing I did was to make a complete backup. I then tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache but the device was still stuck in the bootloop. This was the point were I did not know what elso to do and so I wiped everything and installed the latest nightly (I was running a previous version when the bootloop happend). Everything is working again and I am on the latest version now, but all my data is gone of course.
My Questions are:
If I restore the backup I made when the device was stuck in the bootloop, will this then cause a bootloop again, or can I savely restore the backup? I don't know if that makes any sense, but I am afraid to restore corrupt data somehow.
Second Qustion is a noob question out of couriosity: What else could I have done to get the device to boot up again?
Thanks for your help!
What I would do if I were you
Wipe all
Restore nandroid of bootlooping ROM
Wipe cache + dalvik
Flash the same ROM on top of this nandroid
Reboot
Should easily fix your density issue
May even be able to just flash kernel (as opposed to whole ROM)
If this were me, chances are this app just changes build.prop to change dpi
So I would boot to recovery
adb pull the build.prop and edit it back to normal then push it back and change permissions and then reboot
Future reference
Noob mistakes happen to all at some point, experimenting is good, just always make a nandroid first!

Hello,
I kinda have the same issue. I downloaded SuperSU while on CM13. And when I installed it it went into TWRP and after the installation there was the bootloop. I made a backup (while in bootloop) and I don't want to make a factory reset.
It's been a long time since I've done a backup (except the one in bootloop) so I can't restore.
Can I fix this with the adb (which I don't know how to use it) or can I make a factory reset then restore the backup or will it go into bootloop again ?
I had my phone rooted and successfully got superuser access. From Rom manager, using cwm, i planned to backup my rom as i was intending to flash a custom rom in a few days. When i started the backup, my phone rebooted into cwm and the backup was finished in like 2-3 minutes.
It rebooted again but to the cwm and not android. I cleared cache and dalvik cache. Still rebooting into cwm. I tried restoring from sdcard using my backup of ROM. But it gives a md5 mismatch error. Please help me to figure this out! And access my android. I dont want a new rom. :crying:
Worked it out myself! Thanks!
